Best Underrated Anime Group K Round 3: #K8 vs #K2
#K8: Fishing with friends (both human & alien)
#K2: A show where any universe/plot is possible
Details and poll under the cut!
#K8: Tsuritama
youtube
Summary:
Yuki Sanada has always felt like a fish out of water. Socially awkward and anxious, he struggles to fit in with his surroundings and moves from town to town with his grandma. As he and his grandma settle into the charming seaside town of Enoshima, Yuki hopes for a fresh start. However, his reputation at school is jeopardized by the arrival of fellow transfer student Haru. The eccentric Haru immediately makes a splash, wildly claiming to be an alien and declaring that Yuki is his friend. Pairing the reluctant Yuki with their classmate and fishing talent, Natsuki Usami, he tasks both of them with the absurd mission of saving the world from a mysterious threat in the ocean. Mischief and hijinks ensue, as these three embark on a whimsical adventure filled with laughs, heart, and self-discovery!
Propaganda 1:
Tsuritama is a heartfelt show about learning to cope with anxiety by building confidence through learning new skills (fishing). It’s also about learning to be vulnerable with others and rely on them. The soundtrack is almost entirely recorder, as they asked the Kuricorder Quartet to put it together for the show. On top of that, the color scheme is very bright and hopeful.
Propaganda 2:
This show left me feeling both happy and incredibly emotional. It started off very goofy but really reels you in (get it? Reels?) and becomes quite an emotional journey at the end. Also, the art style is really beautiful and colorful and the opening is a bop!
Trigger Warnings: None.
#K2: Beryl and Sapphire (Xiaolü He Xiaolan)
Summary:
The series is based on a manhua where the main characters are drawn as stick figures, so they can be placed in any situation, essentially making different AUs canon while any genre is possible. Some of these stories have overarching plots (they’re sort of like actors), some are more slice-of-life, and some have more hard-hitting moments of angst or occasionally cute, romantic stories between the leads: the mild-mannered Beryl (Green) and the easily-embarrassed Sapphire (Blue).
In this show where each episode is set in a different world, how would they encounter each other time and again?
Propaganda:
It’s genuinely just such a cool concept! Getting to see these characters in practically any story/setting while still featuring the (usually same) main characters means you still get attached to the main cast, but you really get a diverse range of plots and ideas.
You may find yourself getting super attached to one (as I did for the Robo-Beryl arc, because I liked the character of Robo-Beryl but I also found Sapphire’s shyness/crushing adorable), and many of even the shortest ones are really interesting.
The OP even features them as actors and the title cards are film clapboards, which is such a cool way to tie in the main set-up!
Plus, because the manhua features them as stick figures, Ocarina (the original creator of Beryl and Sapphire) has way more room to explore deep ideas or just silly jokes; the flexibility of stick figures means we get lots of deep, philosophical writing/dialogue, and the donghua adapts that quite well.
Beryl is fun and Sapphire is super cute, and I love seeing how they interact in different universes/stories (and yes, they are very shippable!). Their default design is technically male, but sometimes they’re female too.
Some of the storylines are also super creative and really really do just punch you in the gut with feels. I don’t think I’ll ever forget some of the more tragic arcs…
Yet at the end of the day, Beryl and Sapphire is a really cute donghua, with a lot of feel-good stories to it! It even finally came back after like 4 years with season 2, which focuses on one of the over-arching arcs (the Demon King Beryl one), and we’re still getting discussions of deeper ideas alongside comedy, and Beryl and Sapphire are as cute as ever!
The new art style is quite pretty and hey, if you’re a fan of the playful, teasing (yet still can be rather emotionally reserved) type and the easily blushy type, Beryl and Sapphire may just be for you! 😉
Trigger Warnings: None.

Welcome to XiaLan's Tumblr. I'm just a hobbyist translator (only CN->EN, or EN->CN), translating things for fun on my own time. I have no schedule, it really depends on how busy I am that week.
《你亲我一下》 Give Me a Kiss Author: 引路星 Yinlu Xing Chapters: 52 Ch 1 ✦ Ch 2
Luobo Tuzi Chapters: 110 Ch 1 ✦ Ch 2

Melancholy Conman Positions: TS Ch 5 ✦ Ch 6
✥---------------✥---------------✥
My qualifications?
Honestly, idk. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Chinese, but that doesn't make me perfect. There may be things that aren't 100% correct, so feel free to let me know! Sometimes it may just be that I didn't know how to express it well in English, because English being my first language doesn't mean crap either. We're all for a fun time here, not for a serious time, ok!
Can you translate x,y,z?
Sure, if I find it interesting, I'm down to do so, but I'm literally just one person, so probably two projects is the max I can handle at once. I usually like just fluffy stories with no long-winded angst and toxicity, but these are always the types of stories to never get translated or get dropped because it's not popular enough in the English danmei fandom. I do realize these stories might not get loved as much, but I'm just making myself happy here!
Do you need help?
YES! If you want to help edit, I would be ever so grateful. I just post without editing so if it makes sense it makes sense, if it doesn't lol I'll fix it in post ig. If you want to help, feel free to contact me on Discord @ imperfectlantern.
Can I donate?
While I appreciate the thought, please give your donation to a charity of your choice instead (づ๑•ᴗ•๑)づ♡ They need it way more than I.

Boa tarde, estrelinhas!
Hoshi e DK (Seventeen), Joy (Red Velvet), Jaehyun e Yuta (NCT), Lisa (Blackpink), Saerom (Fromis_9), Ryujin (ITZY), Minnie ((G)I-DLE), Xialan (Instagrammer), Juyeon (The Boyz), Hyunsuk (CIX), Keeho (P1Harmony)
Agora vamos para o nosso segundo tópico hoje, o The Punch!

I've said before that I'm simping for Gil, but surprisingly he isn't equal to my favorite characters which is The Owner (Xialan's boss) and Carter. Sure Gil's hot, but the two of them have qualities that made me love them.
The first is The Owner. He started as someone who forbid Jing to race because women aren't allowed to do so. Even if he insist that, he still gave her the chance to prove herself and later also acknowledge her ability to race. The scene where he puched the cheating guy who made Jing unable to reach the finish line is the testament of his change. Love it.
The second is, Carter. I actually don't like him at the beginning because he isn't someone who overlook other people's unique/different appearance, even calling them monkeys. Also him saying that he didn't want to be technician again is quite pathetic.
But as the show goes I began to understand that the blonde has a trauma, something that made him create distance from his true passion (which is being technician and learning more about machine imo) with things he considered as his improvement (being a director or something). Still somehow the whole world are conspiring to make Carter show his true self and what matters to him as he defend the continuation of the race.
He has surpassed his fear, and I love it.

How did you come up with your characters? What was your inspiration?
So I guess I could say anime and magical girls were my inspiration but so was X-Men. It was a mix of a bunch of things.
The whole element thing comes from Sailor moon and Xialan Showdown. Kimikyo’s first form actually was name from Omi as Ami but also for Ami from sailor moon. Both water users.
Kigra and Azumiral use to be one in the same and they were called….Emolika…look I was like 13 and in my “no body gets me” phase. I eventually split the two and name Azumiral after my fav Pokémon at the time, and Kigra…I’m not really sure how I got her name. I think it was for Kaugura from inuyasha but again I don’t really remember.
Kai is easy, he’s literally just the gender bent of Kimikyo.
What I do remember though is Azumiral use to be the motherly and eldest sister, Kigra was the middle rambunctious sister that would fight anything and hated Kimikyo, Kai was the only son so was adored by the mother and father, and Kimikyo was the youngest and most ignored.
They weren’t my first but through character development I finally got my girls(and Kai) and I love them as they are basically my babies.

Best Underrated Anime Group K Round 2: #K1 vs #K2
#K1: A state auditor finds himself the center of a coup
#K2: A show where any universe/plot is possible
Details and poll under the cut!
#K1: ACCA: 13th Territory Inspection Department (ACCA: 13-ku Kansatsu-ka)
youtube
Summary:
ACCA—a national body of the kingdom of Dowa that provides public services to the citizens of the country—was established as part of the peace settlement between the king of Dowa and the 13 states of the country during a revolt. One hundred years later, Dowa is in a period of unprecedented peace, due in part to the ACCA system. However, rumors of a coup d'état start to surface. Jean Otus, the second-in-command of the inspection department of ACCA, is charged with inspecting all 13 state branches. What will he discover as he performs his audit?
Propaganda:
Acca-13 is a master work of political intrigue neatly wrapped up into 12 episodes. Every moment in the show has meaning, every textual personal preference ties back to some larger plot point, and every character has their own goals, values and machinations that at first seem overwhelming but in hindsight are crystal clear. Despite very little time spent on exposition for this fully fictional 13-district country with a unique governing system, it’s well-built and by the climax of the show the audience knows exactly who and what are at stake. The plot twists are SUBLIME—that perfect combination of a blindside and inevitable.
That’s not to say that it loses out on characterization in favor of plot! The characters are human and down-to-earth, with the show using a realistic, simple style of animation that allows wonderfully subtle expression. Both the sub and the dub are excellent. I have watched this show at least eight times, and EVERY SINGLE TIME I have picked up another layer of plot, another thread of characterization that I’d missed before but had carried and explained a moment of the narrative.
Also, there is ZERO fanservice. ONLY food service. Watch it with snacks handy. For the trailer I'm actually linking the opening, one of the best anime OPs to ever be made.
Trigger Warnings: Smoking

Alright, let’s do this thing!!!
(^^Literally how I feel when I do this kinda thing)
Thank you @katishideout for posting the twitter link because it told where these pictures came from. So once I knew it came from “Gao Hanyu’s Studio Weibo update” (or “Gao Yuyu Studio” 高瀚宇工作室 as you can see in the bottom right of all the pictures - yay for watermarks!!), I was able to find THE ORIGINAL WEIBO POST.
Once I went through all the the comments (thank you translate.yandex.com for printscreen translations!! Seriously guys, this is a dream come true, especially for translating foreign subtitles!!!) and saw multiple people mention that it was from a movie called 越过山丘 “Upon the Mountain” (or “Over the Hill” or “Crossing the Hill” as I’ve also seen it translated).
And with that poster came a synopsis (translated through google, so if anyone wants to correct the many errors I’m sure there are in this, please be my guest!!):
[Beijing Puppet Show | "Celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of New China" Excellent TV series series broadcast "Crossing the Hill"] "Crossing the Hill" is composed by famous screenwriter and film producer Zhou Jinxiang as the chief producer, and new director Shen Yujie teamed up with young The screenwriters Wu Hao, Bai Jing, Su Yumeng, Jiang Bing and so on jointly created the play. A workplace inspirational emotional drama starring actor Zhang Wei and Gao Yuyu. In the background of the private automobile industry where challenges and opportunities coexist, the drama tells the commercial investigator Ouyang Xialan, in the course of a mission, the fate of Peng Yue, the founder of Tianguan Group’s second son and the “Crossing the Hill” car research and development organization. Cleverly linked together. After several twists and turns, the two men finally came together to overcome difficulties and made the world see the achievements China has made in the field of new energy vehicles. This drama is the only drama series on the theme of the national automobile industry. It focuses on the development of China's automobile industry and pays tribute to several generations of automobile people. They are making unremitting efforts for our national industry and also for the new generation. Chinese auto people applaud. The show is expected to be broadcast simultaneously on the first-line TV platform and new media by the end of 2019.
So I searched through all the comments with the Chinese names of all Gao Han Yu’s upcoming projects as stated by MyDramaList (which does NOT include “Over the Hill”), and this was the only series OR movie title I found. So pretty safe bet that’s what these pictures are from.
So then came the fun part of trying to find information about this series and here’s the results from a variety of sources (not already linked above):
