aaand my last request for 2025 (and last request before i commit to your prompt list, promised <3):

egil slowly befriending and flirting with a reader who's friends with shulk & co., making them fall in love with them with the intention to use them to get intel on shulk. but then he ends up actually falling in love with reader, while reader realizes egil was just using them... (aka. angst time :P)

Aaaahhh the angst ~ sweet and cruel angst ~

V-chaaan! Thanks for making this request, it took me some time to get how to write it but here it is and i ABSOLUTELY LOVED WRITING IT!!! I hope you like it too ~

The fight was a mess, it was obvious that he was the one with the uper hand until Fiora intervened, making a risky move and leading everyone to fall from the head of Mechonis, gathering everyone on the air and trying land at least in a safe way, but you were left behind

It wasn't Fiora's intention to leave you but the fight was brutal, and you end up laying uncouncious near the Faced Mechon who, after a moment to think about it, took you in its hands and dragg you somewhere safe

For Egil is wasn't the first time having to work with a Hom, after all he was the one making the Faced Mechons, however this time he had a bigger plan for you, he remembers the way you worked with everyone during the fight, the way you tried to save them, they way Shulk was trying to shield you when the attack was directed towards you, realicing that you could have more value as you are now rather than make you another Faced Mechon so he went with that plan

Egil took a surprising good care of you, he was sure that everyone would come back towards him again and he assure you that you would see them again (if it didn't happened he would just go with the other plan and make you a Faced Mechon), assuring you that you would be safe until that happened, leaving clear that for now you two weren't enemies, you not only weren't a threat alone but you were probably in distress for being all alone with a Machina, with him

Egil took his time, meticulously being more and more kind towards you, slowly giving you confidence and space to be comfortable enough to let your guard down, even giving you some freedom to wander around Mechonis while even offering to make you company when he wasn't too busy or when you were wandering too far away from the safe space you were staying, making sure to don't stop you but stepping just in time before you get injured for being reckless in a place you don't know, making discreet but persistent attempts to win your trust

Egil repeated himself over and over again that this was just part of his plan, an evil for a greater good, that this was necesary, at first it was just to easy the guilty feeling he started to feel for taking advantage of someone who was in such vulnerable state, lost and alone, but soon it become to easy the pain that lingered in his chest of the idea of what he was doing to you, not realicing that those same worlds were what hurt him the most

Egil planned to just use you, to win your trust to get to know more about the people you were traveling with, to get any useful information to stop them and to use you as hostage once they decided to confront him again, he was meticulous with his interactions but soon he found himself falling in his own trap, as he was winning your trust he started to get a soft spot for you too, you were just fighting for those who were important for you, you weren't just kind-hearted but also innocent, you just were fighting for your family, for the sake of their safety

Egil found himself lingering around you more and more, and not for the sake of his plan, he started to grow genuinely interested on you, he grow to even start to care for you, soon his kind words and protective actions weren't just to win you over for his plan but because he was genuinely concern for you, he started to speak from the heart and even was surprised when he found himself opening up to you, telling you more details about his story and his resoning for why to fight, he found himself hidding you behind him whenever there was another attack towards Mechonis, ready to protect you with his body if it was necesary

But he couldn't change what he had done to you, after having to fight with all the other enemy troops his mind was focused in his plan, with his revenge, so the moment your friends arrived it was instictively when he confronted your friends, using the information you have give him in confidence to put in action the plan he has been working on, to show you the real reason why he was being so kind in the first place

But just like he couldn't take down what he have done he couldn't stop his heart from breaking when you realiced what was he doing, the pure anger quickly taking replacing the horror in your expression, the softness and care you used to look at him at was completely vanish, the innocent curiosity and the trust he managed to make you feel for him have completely disapeared, just leaving you with the feeling of betrayal, leading you to point your weapon towards him ready to kill him for what he have done, but even when your weapon wasn't even close to hurt him he already felt like he was already dying, and he deserve it

Metaphor feels like a Xenoblade game honestly. Soft but kind hearted protagonist (Will/Shulk) on a journey to avenge their loved one (Prince/Fiora) who is killed/taken by the main antagonist (Louis/Egil) and their close friend who opens them up out of their shell (Strohl/Reyn).

egil is so used to having you all to himself and for you to always do everything with him that he gets quite jealous whenever he can't be with you

there aren't many people aside from him that you have contact with, but rest assured, egil is jealous of all of them, to varying degrees

he's mostly jealous of vanea though, as she spends the most time with you aside from him and because he knows your relationship with her is so much different than the one he has to you

even if you are just friends with vanea, egil still doesn't like to see you spend too much time with her and often tries to give you things to do that allow you to be near him…
