Spooky numbers for your Halloween Kpop Playlists:

Dracula - f(x) Dracula is THE Kpop Halloween song as far as I’m concerned. Complete with a horror movie narration at the start, stormy thunderclaps, and plenty of dispersed screaming throughout. No Halloween playlist is complete without it. Not to mention what a stand alone banger it is. I personally listen to it year ‘round, but it’s especially a no-skip track every October.

Scream - Dreamcatcher Like so many other Dreamcatcher tracks with strong, driving rock-based riffs, Scream just has that inexplicable head-banging quality. With just enough break up in the production with twinkling piano instrumentals and ghostly “ooohs” to juxtapose against that killer triplet rhythmic chorus, this is a must for both your Kpop Halloween and Edgy playlists.

Peek-A-Boo - Red Velvet Every self-respecting 3rd generation Kpop fan knows this song in and out, and it’s a classic for a reason. The production is electric, interesting, and creepy - in such a subtle way. It’s not a yelling-it-in-your-face type of eerie, but much more something that begins understated and grows scarier with the consistent oscillation between major and minor sounds. It's a great bonus that the music video carries that same subtle spooky energy.

Midnight Summer Dream - MAMAMOO This is a deeper cut B Side from Mamamoo’s Red Moon EP and my personal favorite B Side from that mini album; even ranking up there as a song amongst all of the 4 seasons project. It’s just that good, and a total sleeper hit for Halloween. It also carries itself with a very quiet creepiness, yet the lyrics are explicitly a ghost story. (Looking up the English translation for this one is a must!)

Happy Death Day - Xdinary Heroes The only BG to make it on this written list - but this song is totally ranked up there as a top tier spooky track. The production with the warped garbled voices, the talk-singing, the rock instrumentals, and rough rocker vocals in the chorus makes for such a diverse, interesting sound. And it’s absolutely perfect for any smashing good Halloween party.

2022 Last.fm top 20 summary

YouTube Music won’t give me a summary of what I listened to the most from that site (since I mainly listen to my own uploads), but I’ve been tracking my listening stats on Last.fm since 2005, so I pulled my annual top 20 summary from there.

Notes

Last.fm only scrobbles what I listen to on my phone or computer - anywhere else doesn’t get logged, so this is a little skewed (but probably not too far off, all things considered).

I usually play soundtracks (mostly without words) or put my entire uploaded library on random on YTM when I work, so it has over 100,000 songs to choose from, hence there is a really, really long tail that never gets to the top 20.

If I’m gardening or cleaning or crafting or driving or organizing things (you get the point), I usually put on playlists that I create to be more upbeat or very easily sing-able, which is evidenced in about half of the group list. The other half shows what my top favorite all-time artists/groups are (and the ones I have the most music from), e.g. Bauhaus/Love and Rockets/David J, Radiohead/The Smile, Low, Morphine, Nick Cave, Japan, and Duran Duran.

Hello! Welcome to rachelreviews13 annual top songs and albums of the year!

At first I thought I knew well ahead of time my top songs of the year, but the more I worked on this list, the more I realized how much music I really loved this year. So, in reality, it ended up being quite difficult to narrow down these top songs and albums. Some artists and songs I had to unfortunately cut from even the honorable mentions, but I’d still like to highlight them, so I will mention them here. Those artists include Demi Lovato, Machine Gun Kelly, Yungblud, Lizzo, and ITZY.  While I did not include any of their songs and albums they released this year, each of those artists were still a big part of my 2022.

2022 is ending and the public needs to know what your most & least favorite kpop releases were this year! there was good stuff, bad stuff, underwhelming stuff, growers, etc. lets hear yours! :D

20. generation - tripleS

fun, upbeat, the mv has a nice laid back "aesthetic" feel to it. the only ppl who didnt like it were miserable newjeans stans! 😭

19. hair cut - xdinary heroes

i actually liked the chorus... doesnt have much replay value but i do listen it whenever it comes on

18. antifragile - le sserafim

i DID love this one, it had to grow on me but its catchy af! 😭

17. forever 1 - snsd

this one had to grow on me too! but its super cute and sweet!,

father was fathering through the whole album IDGAF!!! like every song is so good and well made, well sang. this is the superior kpop song named dice that was released this year. lol.

its catchy af and the message is so REAL! ngl at first i thought they made that word up for the song but i looked it up and its french for "home" so 😭😭 extra points for making me think they came up with that word themselves

9. illusion - aespa

its cunty! catchy! i definitely got it on the first listen! (points off for the yummy yummy yummy in your tummy tummy tummy line tho)

8. bop bop! - viviz

if u hate this song you hate fun tbh! the thing i loved about this song is that it felt less like a debut song and more like a comeback song. we love you viviz.

7. good boy gone bad - txt

i had to pretend like i didnt get it on the 1st-and-a-half listen bcuz i was still very much in my txt anti era. but now im normal so i can appreciate what this song means to me ❤

6. jikjin - treasure

why were so many people pretending like they didnt fuck heavy with this song. perhaps broaden your mindset like. [korean korean] jikjiiiiiiinnnn woooooooooooooo. anw it feels like pop rocks to my brain and in the best way possible so its here.

thats gay clubbing music baby! something about this song feels so... not 2022. more like i opened a time portal and went back to mid-2017. idk why. but i love that vibe.

4. shut down - blackpink

the lyrics, production, that violin, everything about this song was an instant hit. no im not just saying that because blackpink was my first group. their comeback this year ate and served cunt severely. we love you blackpink.

3. 2 baddies - nct 127

i like thot music! the way ppl complained about it was so 😭😭 its an nct song what were you expecting. shut up. you either rock with it or you dont. like the song was made BY baddies FOR baddies. so if it isnt hitting...

2. pop! - nayeon

ms. im nayeon put the POP in kPOP with tjis song! and it was her SOLO DEBUT? PLEASEEEEEEE........ i love the girly cutesy bubblegum-y fun of this one. so. so. so. much. like everything about it SO iconic. she not only solidified herself as a capable soloist but as a pop princess too!

1. brand new - xiumin

are you surprised? im an exol after all! but fr this song had me GAGGED since the mv TEASER dropped! everything about it is so good, the beat, the lyrics, the vocals... everything! when it comes down to the mv minseok had $10 and a dream but he still made it work. that song was MADE to be a hit!! when i heard it i knew NOTHING ELSE released this year was gonna top it!
