A/n: hello everyone! I haven't been here for a long time, but this boy made me rise from the ashes.

It shouldn't escalate into this. So you assured yourself. He was your best friend. He was always there for you when you were feeling bad. He made you happy. You didn't realize at what point your feelings turned from just friendly to romantic. But it definitely wasn't friendship. From your side, of course.

It's been a week since you realized you were in love with a tall boy. Your relationship hasn't changed much. He was still the best person in your life. You were still his best friend. You sat together in all the lessons. After lessons, you listened to music and watched him draw. Everything was fine. And you didn't want to ruin it. You didn't want your feelings to worsen your relationship. No, that's definitely not going to happen. So you assured yourself.

You were sitting on Xavier's bed. As usual, you had to go to his creative studio. But because of the heavy rain, this was not possible. Therefore, it was decided to stay with Xavier and watch some insipid comedy.

"What are you thinking about?" Xavier lay down on the bed and waited for you to follow his example. Your laptop was in his hands, and he was choosing a movie. You were sitting on the other side of the bed. Your thoughtful gaze shifted from Xavier's hands to his shoulders and settled on his expression. Xavier was calm, his eyelashes were fluttering, and his lips were slightly pursed. Your heart beat a little faster in your chest when he looked at you. You slowly looked away and turned your back on him. "Is everything okay? You didn't answer the question." Xavier reached up to your back and stroked your spine with his fingertips. You were slouching a little. "Is there anything I can do to help?"

You shook your head negatively. Pulling a smile, you turned to the boy. "It's okay. I'm sorry I made you worry. " Xavier was definitely not satisfied with your answer, so he pushed the laptop away and sat up on the bed, being right behind you. "You haven't been yourself lately." Xavier put his arm around your shoulders. "I don't think everything is good." You exhaled wearily.

"It's okay. I'm serious." You turned around in his arms so that he could see your expression. "Are you sure?" The boy tucked a strand of hair behind your ear. You abruptly moved away and jokingly pushed Xavier away and sat facing him, bending your legs into the lotus position. "I'm fine. Stop asking."

Xavier was looking at you with slightly narrowed eyes. Probably to be sure to see a hint of a lie in the expression of your face or eyes. "It's just something..."

Xavier immediately perked up and smiled noticeably relaxed. "You know you can tell me everything y/n." You nodded affirmatively. "What is this 'something'?" You exhaled and began to pick up options in your head, as if not to blurt out too much. "Let's just say it's not something, but someone..."

Now Xavier has become even more interested in dialogue. "So who is this someone." You smiled softly when you saw a fox-like smile begin to appear on Xavier's face. "Is that a girl? Is that a guy? Do you like him? Do I know him?". He couldn't wait to find out the answers.

"It's a guy. A very, very nice guy. Xavier nodded. "You know him." You paused and lowered your head down. "I won't tell you anything else."

"Okay, is he cuter than me? Higher?" You rolled your eyes and pinched his arm lightly. Xavier gasped. "Okay, okay, I get it. Only then explain why this nice guy of yours allows you to be in such a depressed state for a whole week." You opened your mouth a little. The gears in your head were working fast, trying to find the answer. Having come up with nothing better, you decided to tell, in your opinion, the truth.

"My love is not reciprocal." Xavier tsked and lightly stroked your knuckles and looked into your eyes, thereby trying to support you. "Then he's a fool. And he definitely doesn't deserve you." You let out a little laugh. "I'm serious. You're gorgeous."A slight half-smile spread on your lips and your cheeks became a little pinker. "Don't be embarrassed. If he can't understand it, then he's just an asshole. You are the most beautiful, kind, funny and cool girl I have ever met. And he's an idiot."

You closed your eyes. "You don't even know who it is." Hearing Xavier's laughter, you opened your eyes again. "I don't need to know him, it's enough that I know you." You sniffled. It feels like tears are about to pour out of your eyes. Raising your head to the ceiling, you tried to blink so that this would not happen. "If I had my way, I would make you the happiest in the world and wouldn't let you cry like that." You smirked and lowered your head.

"Good. I believe you." Your words sounded quiet. Very quiet. But Xavier heard them anyway. "If it were my will t/and I swear." Xavier took your hand. You grinned. "You already make me happy. Every day..." Xavier interrupted you. "Y/n you know what I mean."

"No, I don't understand. And even if I understand, I'm very afraid. I'm very afraid and scared, Xavier. I'm very scared. I love you, and I'm scared." You said it almost in one breath and closed your eyes. There was silence.

"I really want to kiss you now, but I'm afraid I'll make a mistake." You've opened your eyes. Xavier laughed, but there was an expression of embarrassment on his face. You carefully leaned closer, so that a couple of centimeters remained between you. "Why are you making a mistake?" Xavier shrugged his shoulders. "I never thought that my feelings were mutual. Because you... It's you and wow. And you're excellent, but I am... Just me, I suppose?" You laughed. "Okay, then I have to assure you. You moved even closer. "That I'm experiencing the same thing. And you definitely won't make a mistake. At least, the mistake is no worse than me." You smiled. A couple of seconds and Xavier shortened the remaining distance and gently touched your lips with his lips. The kiss was soft, slow, careful. Xavier grabbed you by the waist. A short break between a kiss, and you're already lying under it. Gradually, the kiss turned into a lingering and not so gentle. His hands slowly crept under your T-shirt, exposing your stomach.

Xavier pressed his forehead against yours. His breathing was labored. "Still scared?"

I get caught red handed as the foreign, high-pitched sound of a message notification fills in the pause of a family discussion during dinner. I freeze, accepting my fate as the center of attention as we sit in dead silence. I always liked my solitude and the quiet, let alone words and things beginning with ‘dead’, but this one was making me nauseous, and not in a good way. This is where it ends. What a drag. The taste of my favorite dish or my father’s neverending stories of his years at Nevermore could not have made it up to the void I felt inside of me.

I slide my right hand into my pocket slowly and imperceptibly, disabling the sound of my phone. I see a familiar contact name as my phone screen lights up. Xavier. Of course it has to be him. Oh the place and time. Brushing off the brim of emotions that overwhelms me, I take the knife and the fork back in my shaky hands and force out a few words of explanation that my parents deserve.

“My apologies, perhaps bringing a phone to a family function wasn’t the best idea. Will note for next time” I end up murmuring indistinctly with a fake smile, looking down at my plate in humiliation. My eyes then anxiously wander across the room, examining my family’s faces. Everyone is eyeing me back in utter confusion. That, however, doesn’t stop my mom from engaging into the conversation furthermore, as she puts the napkin back on her lap.

“Y/n, darling,” she said softly. “Would you mind explaining how you happen to possess the soul-sucking electronic device of meaningless affirmation in the first place?”

The question was expected and I should’ve came prepared - no one in the house knew about Xavier’s thoughtful gift to me, except for Wednesday, of course. The alien and humbling feeling of excitement, mixed with admiration, has overfilled me to the point where confessing to my sister on the spot was inevitable. The timing was especially right, as next came the unsettling messages from our stalker that we’re yet to decode.

“It was a parting gift from my friend when I left Nevermore for this winter break” I clarify blandly, making eye contact with my mother. My train of thought, which was more a contemplation of my eventful life anyway, was cut off by a voice at the end of the table.

“Does the friend in question happen to be the handsome young man from that one time at the Nightshade library?” Uncle Fester asks frisky and somewhat mockingly, stuffing his mouth with salad.

I am in the beam of spotlight once again as the family is left on a cliffhanger. Hurts to admit, I overreacted. This is where it ends. My ego are pride are shattered in a million pieces. Who knew that the terrible loss of a subjective self-identity of a heartless, disastrous hellbound teenage girl would come so soon.

Hastily picking up the food on my plate with a fork, I utter the following in a grumbly indistinct manner, trying hard not to blush. “Yes, it was him.”

My parents meet each others gazes as they smile. They let me rest from the discussion for half a minute, murmuring sweet nothings to one another, and just when I begin to think my blaze of glory is finally over, my mom picks the conversation up again.

“So, mind telling us more about it? What is his name?”

“Xavier Thorpe.” Wednesday shot back before I was even able to respond. Perhaps the complete disgust of the ongoing discussion has pushed her to my rescue, hoping to end this nightmare as soon as possible.

My mother hums in approval and continues the love interest trivia, raising her brow. “He’s Vincent Thorpe’s son, isn’t he?”

“Wait, what?!” Pugsley says at the edge of his seat, excited from overhearing his favorite psychic’s name.

“Yes, yes he is. I am not sure as of where me and Xavier stand and I would appreciate it if you give me some time before we talk about this again” I let out a sigh as I finally say what’s been on my mind. “For now, excuse me, I have to go. Thank you for a wonderful meal.”

I get up and make my way upstairs, to find some peace and quiet in my bedroom. Laying on my back and staring at the ceiling in complete despair, I pull out the phone from my pocket after some time, checking the messages.

She does not think your southern drawl is very hard to understand or very annoying but she won't tell you that, but it does get on her nerves when you occasionally use words that are grammatically incorrect. Such as saying "I seen.." She has explained to you that saying "I have seen.." would make more sense when recounting an event but if you keep doing it she does find a soft spot for it, she has learned to like your accent. It’s very attractive, especially the way you pronounce “Wednesday”. She enjoys that you can make all kinds of southern phrases sound lovely to her. Enid: Having an attractive southern romantic partner is a treat that not many others have. Enid loves having a southern sweetheart in her life because you always treat her with respect and adoration. She thinks you're always extremely polite and chivalrous, opening doors for her and pulling her chair out at restaurants. She doesn't like it when others try to get you wound up and listen to your accent get thicker but does love hearing how you say the same thing as her just differently and it's always a surefire way to cheer her up.

Xavier: Oh, he thinks it's a lot of fun. He loves your southern drawl, and he finds it to be so cute and charming. Even when you get mad, and start swearing up a storm, he can't get mad it's just so adorable. It is a little annoying sometimes as not everyone understands your accent, which can cause some misunderstandings especially after he noticed your southern drawl gets a lot thicker when he teases you playfully. When you both tease each other, you both can often go into a bit of a little argument, and he can tell your trying to resist laughing a bit it's actually really adorable to him.

Rowan: He thinks southern accents are the most attractive accents in the world. He can't get enough of your sweet southern accent and dialect. He absolutely melts whenever you say "y'all, bless your heart, sugar, baby, mama, honey, dear, sweetheart, babe, sweet-tea, etc", It's rough sometimes. Especially because you can speak too fast for him and sometimes the words just mash together like goulash. He'll think the biggest issue is when you use "y’all" because he keeps thinking you're talking to or about multiple people. But the real icing on the cake is when you say “I love you” or when you call him “Honey”.

Tyler: He thinks it can be frustrating sometimes because he has to concentrate on everything you say or tell you to repeat/slow down so he feels like he has a chance. He has wished you would just be quiet sometimes and stop speaking like he teases by saying, cowboy. Your accent was one of the reasons why he fell in love with you though. It’s unique and not everyone gets to hear it every day. It’s just adorable but he was confused when you said you liked his accent even if it is to tease him.

Ajax: It was not easy to understand you in the beginning. But once he got used to the accent, he found your accent absolutely cute he guesses he is now used to it and he likes it even if people do have to come to him asking what it was you said. He finds it unique and it makes you special to him. (If you were to try to get rid of your accent or hide it, that would feel like some part of you was gone and he wouldn’t like that. A thick accent is actually part of who you are).

Bianca: She thinks having a southern romantic partner is lovely but also a challenge in some ways. You both come from different backgrounds and you each want the other to embrace your cultures. This is great because it brings more color and culture into your lives and your relationship. However, it can also create tension since you both need to learn to appreciate and respect the other's culture. The challenge is worth it, but it does take effort and compromise. In the end, has really come to enjoy when you sweet talk her more so when you will use words commonly regarded as a sign of endearment such as "darling" and "sweetheart" to describe her as you think that she is most pleasant and attractive.

Cute Moments

Wednesday: You once had a picnic in a graveyard during a thunderstorm. It felt like a scene straight out of her dreams. That was basically the whole date. You ate your food, chatted about the meaning of life (death), cuddled when the storm really got going, and listened to the thunder. It was incredibly romantic and one of the greatest moments of her life, second only to watching someone die.

Enid: It’s always hard for her to choose one cute memory over all the others, but if she had to choose, it was your first kiss. You were both feeling incredibly nervous and excited, and it all came together for a perfect moment of shared intimacy. The memory of your smile and the way you held her hand as you leaned in to kiss her is one she’ll never forget. It was truly magical, and she’ll always treasure it.

Xavier: You went to a jazz joint after one of his art shows, and you stayed there until the early hours of the morning, dancing and eating small morsels of food. It was like something out of a dream. He couldn't believe it was actually happening. You both just felt completely in sync with each other, and he can't believe you were both feeling so lucky to have found each other. It was wonderful.

Rowan: You both spent a long weekend traveling to wherever since you both got to pick each time, seeing historical sites, eating local cuisine, and just enjoying spending time together. He felt it was truly a wonderful time for you both and is happy you both took so many pictures. It was so nice to spend quality time together, get away from your busy schedules, and just relax and have fun together.

Tyler: You and him had a candlelit dinner for two after-hours at the cafe. You both sat by a window and watched the rain pour as you shared a food, and he made your favorite drink. The dinner was divine, and the atmosphere was perfect. He remembers he reached across the table to take your hand and stared into your eyes. There was so much unspoken affection between you. He knew at that moment that he had found the one.

Ajax: Well, he had taken you to the beach after just the two of you. The sun was setting, and you sat together on the sand, talking about everything and nothing at the same time. At one point, the sun went down, and the stars came out. You both were looking at the night sky, and there was a shooting star. That's when he knew it was love.

Bianca: Well, one weekend, you both went to a pumpkin patch. Holding hands as you walked through the corn maze, the sunshine filtering through the orange leaves above. At the end of the maze, you carved pumpkins together and ate cider donuts. Your pumpkins turned out a little odd, but they're pretty cute all the same. You also kissed while staring up at the sunset. It was the perfect date, then anything she could've asked for.

Enid knows the importance of words of affirmation in a relationship, and she's big on expressing her love verbally. She's also very physically affectionate and always wants to be touching or cuddling. She'll tell you that she loves you and showers you with compliments, making sure you know you're loved.

Xavier: He always wants to make sure you feel special. He’ll get you lots of flowers and take you on really nice dates. He always makes sure to tell you every single day. Also, he's big on kissing and hugging. He makes sure that he gets to show you that he loves you every day. If he had to choose one, he would like to show you that he loves you most with physical touch while with words he would say "I love you. I love you with all my heart, and I love you with all of my being. I love all of who you are, and you are the most important thing in my life. I love you, and I always, always will."

Rowan: It will be a combination of physical touch and compliments. It also will show through his actions and him going out of his way to do thoughtful things for you. Most of all, it will show through the way he listens to what you need and want. He's a big gift giver too, so it would be random things that make him think of you. He would also want you to know that he will always be in your corner and will support you no matter what.

Tyler: "I love you very much, and I hope you know it. I want the best for you and I will always be here for you no matter what. I know we both need each other, and I want you in my life forever." He shows you through the little things in life. The small acts of compassion, kindness, and love, Which can sometimes go unnoticed. He likes to make sure you are aware of how much he appreciates you and everything you bring to his life.
