While I’ve been listening to Fall Out Boy since 2003’s Take This To Your Grave, their sophomore LP From Under the Cork Tree was the #1 album I listened to in high school. The music and lyrics on this record firmly solidified my love for the band, and I’m still going to their concerts today after first seeing them while promoting FUCT back in 2005.

I contemplated getting a FOB tattoo my senior year of high school, but was told by many that I’d regret it later, so I never did. Still a diehard in my mid-thirties, it was time to finally get that ink I wanted back in my teenage years. The eye/keyhole/crown design was the cover art for FUCT’s vinyl release, and I always loved the look of it. One of my favorite tracks on the album is also “XO,” which is the song that references the image. It was even the secret Magic 8 Ball song I got to hear LIVE when they played Fenway Park last year! Only fitting, then, to commemorate it with my latest tattoo. 🎱

Uni Project: Send them off!! A Broschure

This was a small uni project from last year. We were supposed to make a small brochure out of a song, a very open assignment. I of course! had to choose a Bastille song (hehe) & went with "Send them off", inspired by Othello. While the song deals with a different kind of jealousy, I wanted to create a small story to go along with the sentiment of almost obsessive envy/jealousy towards others success. How said envy might motivate you short-term, but won't truly bring you joy even if you manage to be better than others. The horse is the jealousy horse, it eats you! (I developed a weird obsession with horses after this)

Looking back I was wrong about envy, it won't actually bring you the crown, you will sit on the horse and somehow sitting on it and looking at the long way ahead feels easier than getting down and actually walking. Doesn't matter too much now. There are some artistic choices I now view critically but overall I'm okay with what I created.
