The Apple Watch needs an ‘OK’ button
The Apple Watch needs an action button. Something to allow you to confirm, acknowledge, activate and navigate using a physical press. There’s even a button right there, on the side, waiting for the task. The button, located right below the scroll wheel, was originally used by Apple for the People function. So few folks used this feature that Apple is canning it in watchOS 3 and replacing… Read More

good design is not easy
I just watched an Apple Developer presentation by Ryan Olshavsky and Jonathan Cho, both designers in an iWork team at Apple in charge of the Numbers, Pages and Keynote apps.
I must say I had a moment. I remember watching the video before starting the bootcamp, and not understanding anything. like literally, not a thing. I now understand that these two designers walked the audience through their design process to show them how difficult good design actually is.
It is a process of constant iteration where the designer has to step back and scrutinise his/her design decisions. Feedback and tests are fundamental factors in achieving good results. You are not the user. You are biased and have preconceptions of how an app should work for you. What are we making? Who is it for? Does it actually work? Did we get it right? The answers to these questions matter. Just like design matters. Good design can have a profound impact on the quality of your app and on the people who use it.
“Design is not effortless. It takes time, commitment, concentration and rigor. But the good news is there are ways to make design easier. There are tools, techniques and methods you can use to mitigate uncertainty and help you get to a great design sooner.”
I will keep asking those questions in all my future projects. Found this presentation very inspiring. Check it out:

“Good design is not easy” This is the beginning of apple Iterative UI design conference and it is so true. As a future UX/UI designer I ask myself “Is it the right decision? Am I responding to the user’s needs?..” and so on . Sometimes, as they mentioned, when we see good design it seems almost obvious, but behind this words what you cannot see is the work ,brainstorms and iterations. Is it interesting? Absolutely. An exact science? No. Because we are working for people their is not ONE way to do right, but some ways that can be better than others. I had a very good time looking at this conference and share it with you hoping you find something for you. https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2016/805/

I found this video very instructive. It explains one of the processes to get a design solution. I think that it’s important that design matters and that it’s not easy. Also, I found interesting to remember who we are designing for, and who is the user.
It’s useful for me now to see how they have built the funnel to define and making decisions, always regarding the main goal of the App. It helps to be focused and methodological on the process.
It catches my attention when they started with “What I know now”, it looks like a simple thought, but not always I start there, sometimes we try to think bigger, about all the features… and that is quite a good start point.
They say that’s design is not simple, but the video looks like it is. I liked some sense of humor as well.
Well, in conclusion, it’s interesting to know how people work.

Introduction of Apple's new typeface and also much basic knowledge of typography. The knowledge and the thoughts in this presentation is really inspirational.
But for my project, although I have known what is a good typeface, I worry about the duration of the making process.

Apple announces iOS 10
Apple redesigned the lock screen with iOS 10. With “Raise to Wake” you can see your lock screen without touching your phone. Your phone wakes up. This move was needed as Touch ID had become so fast with the iPhone 6s that you wouldn’t see your notifications on your lock screen. Now, you can also preview notifications with 3D touch. You deep press on a notification and it loads… Read More

Auto Unlock on your Mac hints at future MacBook Pro with Touch ID
Apple just unveiled macOS 12 at WWDC, the next version of Apple’s operating system. Among other things, the company announced a brand new way to unlock your Mac. Instead of typing your long and boring password dozens of times a day, your Mac will be automatically unlocked if you’re wearing an Apple Watch. While Apple said it would work with your iPhone too, the company… Read More
