To sound like the "society if x" meme but this fandom would be so much better if they gave 1/10th of the attention to the canon POC characters that they do to headcanoning the states as poc. So many people hc Loui and Georgia as black but they never mention FAA and Pilots' Union. They all hc New York as Jewish but they never mention Department of Education or Satanic Temple. Even Hawai'i and Puerto Rico barely get any love. Like it's possible to do both, you can hc any of the states you want as poc while still giving love to the actual canon poc characters.
very good point. it would be wonderful for the non-ben characters to get the love they deserve. (my favorite is hawai'i- I would love to see more stories about hawai'i)

Greg and CDC both swept the floor with their competitors, so let's see if this match-up is any closer!

Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: Welcome To The Table - Ben Brainard (Web Series) Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Department of Education/West Virginia (Welcome To The Table) Characters: Department of Education (Welcome To The Table), West Virginia (Welcome To The Table) Additional Tags: Hanukkah Fluff, Established Relationship, Original Pet Characters - Freeform, Pets, Gift Giving, surprise presents, the t-rating is literally for one brief instance of a throwaway reference to an adult activity, other than that this is very very pg, based on a daveed diggs song Series: Part 8 of shades of love Summary:
Department of Education knew that Hanukkah wasn't about the gifts but that didn't change the fact that there was one gift she wanted most of all.
                                                  ----------
No one is more shocked that I was able to get a Hanukkah fic out before Hanukkah ends than me.

I'm going to lose it, I decided to go to Ms. Rogers's channel because I'm subbed and haven't kept with her content and WV/Dep.Ed reminded me and the first video I clicked on that I missed was her reacting to weird rules for teachers in West Virginia in 1915 and most of them were about not being married and not keeping company with men and W. Virginia's himbo wife loving self definitely wrote them to avoid having men flirting with Dep. Ed whilst forgetting he himself is a man & her husband
Oh my gosh- but he would. Well, he maybe didn't write the laws himself. But when the politicians came up to him and told him about them, he was right on board.
He comes home all excited to tell her, because now those pesky assholes will be forced to stop flirting and bothering his wife.
And Dep Ed is just... "Hon you know that you're a man? And my husband? Correct?"
And Wes's brain actually short circuits for a bit. Because hold on- wait- he is a husband.
Dep. Ed. doesn't let him forget about it in modern day either. She teases him. And he always asks her to proofread things now.

so i'm the person who submitted the ask on respecting canon representation and I am also a Jew- insert two jews three opinions joke- and while the Satanic Temple might be played by a Jewish actress and not mention Jewish religion, I still feel we have to respect the ethnicity of someone especially a minority and especially since one of the founders of the IRL Satanic Temple is Jewish. Ethnicity, other than occasionally the states joking about them being white, Lonnie's Gd, references to IRL news, is absent from the Table. To go by that logic no character that is played by a POC is that race or ethnicity then because it was not mentioned. Using Satanic Temple and Department of Education as examples again since it was the example used in Jellyfish anon's ask, it doesn't sit right with me to focus on making a bunch of white men Jewish and ignoring two WOC that have whatever the fandom is looking for by making the Northeast Jewish. I can understand if the fandom was focusing on historical events of the Jewish community in the Northeast but for the most part it's not like people are talking about Jewish New York in the context of the Rosenberg trial or Jewish Massachusetts and his role in the Bostoner Hasid dynasty.
all good points, thanks for sharing your thoughts :)

I honestly expected CDC v. Greg to be closer, but Greg swept.
Next up for best WTTT (non-state) character:

Gen Z crushed Millenials in the last poll, just like in the last bracket. (Looking back, I probably should have mixed up the match-ups)
Anyways, the next poll for best WTTT solo appearance is:

Well, looks like there will be some fights behind your local Kelly Roast Beef, because Gen Z just barely managed to beat out Department of Education by a 50.7% vote.
Next match-up for the best WTTT (non-state) character bracket is:

WTTT Characters of Color
i originally was going to do this just for myself to have a list for future fanfic purposes but I decided why not post it to Tumblr that why I can have a list for myself and for everyone else
Disclaimer: This should really be titled WTTT ethnic and racial minorities characters but i’m too lazy to change it. And deciding who are people of color, who are considered ethnic minorities, is a fluid geographically dependent loaded question that have complex nuanced answers that scholars will forever debate about and that you will not a clean cut answer to on Tumblr dot com on a post by an accountant who stans a sketch comedy show. But without further ado, the list.
Note: The characters of color/characters of ethnic minorities can be divided into two categories- the character is explicitly stated to be non-white or the person who plays them is an minority. Only canon identities will be included in this list so as much as I love and will defend for the rest of time Black!Ilithiya and Sephardi!New York City, those are not canon identities and as such are absent from this list.
1. Atlanta (Georgia Demonyms)
2. Navajo Nation (New Mexico Joins The Table)
3. Miami (Table News: Weather, Strikes, Zebras, and Victory!)
4. FAA
5. Pilots’ Union
6. Southwest Airlines
7. Department of Education
8. FBI
9. Hawai’i
10. Puerto Rico
