Soda tapped his foot against the creaky wooden floor. He glanced at the clock for what felt like the thousandth time. 3:30 in the morning. He had thought surely Ponyboy would come home as soon as he cooled off.
He wasn't expecting Pony to immediately forgive Darry. Hell, Soda himself hadn't entirely forgiven his older brother, who sat, head clutched in his hands, on the couch.
Still, he understood how Darry could have done what he did. When Pony didn't come home, Soda and Darry had thought the worst possible. However, it seemed that Soda's worry had translated into relief at seeing him brother okay, while Darry's had instantly become anger.
The silence of the house was unbearable. It was like the crack of Darry's hand against Pony's face had deafened the brothers to the world.
Finally, Soda shot up from his seat. Darry didn't turn to look at him.
"I'm looking for him." He said simply as he gathered his shoes and his jacket. He realized with a pang in his chest that Pony had run out without a jacket on. He must be so cold.
Darry remained silent.
"What, you're not even going to help me look?" Soda asked.
Darry finally looked up from his hands, and Soda saw tears brimming his eyes. "Do you really think he wants to see me?" Darry said gruffly.
Soda stilled. "No, I... I guess not." He turned on his heel, then walked out the door and shut it behind him.
He shook thoughts of Darry from his mind. Right now, he had to focus on finding Pony and bringing him home.
The first place he thought to check was the lot, where Pony and Johnny had apparently fallen asleep just a few hours prior. He walked across the gravel, softly calling Ponyboy's name. He received no response.
He wandered throughout Tulsa for hours, searching for his brother. The whole east side was eerily quiet.
As the black sky shifted into the pink and orange sunrise, Soda made his way back to his house.
When he pushed the door open and walked in, he heard Darry rushing from the kitchen.
"Pony! Pony, I'm real sorry, I never-" Darry trailed off when he entered the room, and saw Soda standing all alone. "Soda? Did you find Pony?"
Soda shook his head, exhausted. "I'm calling the guys. Maybe he stayed with one of them." Darry nodded, guilt ridden.
Soda called Two-Bit, Steve, and Dally, one by one, and none of them had seen Ponyboy since the drive in. In fact, none of them had seen Johnny either. Soda felt sick with the fear that rattled around in his stomach. The gang agreed to meet them at their house, and help them look.
Once they had gathered, they split up to cover more ground. It was decided that Steve and Soda would keep looking around the East Side, and Dally, Darry and Two-Bit would take Buck's car over to the West side, in case Pony had done something real stupid in his rage and fear.
Soda shuddered as he and Steve made their way around town. They started walking through the park they had played at as kids, when Steve spoke up.
"Little shit got himself into trouble again." He muttered. "He knows Darry don't mean it. He knows you two were worrying your heads off."
Soda felt the need to defend his little brother. He closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose. "No, Pony wasn't wrong. Darry shouldn't have blown up at him. He should have known-"
"Soda." Steve's tone was deathly serious behind him. Soda turned, and saw that Steve had stopped a few steps earlier. He stared past Soda with a look of utter disbelief, his eyes glazing over.
Soda whipped around to see what he was looking at.
First, he just saw the pool of red. Then, he noticed the forms surrounding it.
He wanted to run. But his body felt like it was moving in slow motion. He stumbled towards the first of the bodies -- the one in the pool of blood -- and dread sank in his gut. It was Johnny, lying there, with his eyes open wide and blood plastered across his shirt, spreading from a deep gash in the center of his chest. There was a pocket knife laying still in the pool of blood, and Soda realized with the jolt that it was Johnny's own knife.
That was when Soda set his eyes on the second figure.
He was slumped over the brim of the fountain, unmoving, with his face submerged in the water.
Soda stood very slowly, as if moving too quick could startle the situation into getting worse. He stepped around Johnny's body, unflinching when Steve started yelling at him.
He reached the second body, and grabbed him under his arms to hoist the figure out from under the water.
He was so heavy.
Still, Soda was strong. He lifted the body out of the water, and set it down on the pavement.
Soda sat down beside the body as it dawned on him that this boy was his brother.
"P- pony?" Soda stuttered. He grabbed Ponyboy's shoulder and shook him. "Pony, Ponyboy, wake up." He shook him harder. "Pony, what are you doing?"
"Soda..." he heard Steve call desperately to him. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see Steve clutching Johnny's corpse. Soda didn't care though.
"Pony, get up! It's not funny, Pone, you can't-- you need to-- just wake up!" Soda's words were becoming increasingly strained, but he was scared to shake him to hard. He didn't want to hurt him.
"Jesus, Soda!" Steve shouted from right beside him. When had Steve gotten there? "Soda! Soda look at me!" Soda forced himself to make eye contact with his best friend.
"We're going to give him CPR, okay? I'll do the chest compressions, and you'll breathe into his mouth." Soda didn't quite know what was going on, but Steve sounded so sure of himself that Soda found himself blindly following his orders. Soda easily ignored the drying blood on Steve's hands. Johnny's blood.
Steve delivered round after round of compressions, between which Soda performed the rescue breaths. It went on for what felt like forever. Suddenly, Steve stopped. He fell back on his heels beside Soda. Soda gawked at him.
"What- what are you doing? Come on, we need to give him CPR, to save him, remember? Come on!"
Steve finally met his eyes. "He's gone, man. We can't save him."
Just then, it finally clicked in Soda's head.
Gone.
He turned his head back to his brother, in horror, as the sounds of shouting began to echo behind him.
Darry, he thought numbly and he grasped Pony's shoulders and pulled his baby brother's head and chest into his lap.
That was Darry, Dally, and Two-Bit. He knew their voices. Still, he didn't turn around. He just wrapped his arms around Pony's cold body.
Even though he never turned away from his brother, he could still hear every beat of the scene play out.
He heard Darry calling his name between strides, then he heard his big brother crumble to the ground as he tripped over something.
Something that, then, caused Dally to begin screaming and cursing and praying to God.
Funny, thought Sodapop. I've never heard Dally pray.
He heard Darry pick himself up from off the ground, and slowly approach from behind.
"Soda?" He called hesitantly. Soda didn't turn.
"Soda, is that-" he heard Darry choke. "Did you find Ponyboy?"
Soda nodded, even though he knew Darry couldn't see.
He stared down at Pony, clutching him even tighter as Darry made his way into his peripheral vision. Suddenly, Darry was on his knees beside Soda, trying to pry their littlest brother from his grip.
"Pony! Soda, let me see him!" Darry cried, but Soda just held on tighter.
Soda's eyes were open, but they saw no more than those of his brother he held in his arms. Still, he heard.
He heard Darry sobbing and begging to see Ponyboy.
He heard Dally cursing God.
He heard Steve and Two-Bit trying not to cry as they tried to no avail to pry their grieving friends away from the dead bodies of the boys who had been like their brothers.
He heard the voices of neighborhood kids and workers start to crowd around them to inspect the scene.
Soda looked up and saw the last remaining wisps of pink and orange fizzling out of the sky.
Pony always loved sunrises.
How bout Pony dies at the fountain WITH Johnny? Add a little twist, make it fun. The gang is looking for them and stumbles across them in the park or something. (Maybe literally depending on how dark it is and how much angst you want)

MCU Play toy Headcanons

A/N: This is my first time posting anything like this. I wrote this up a while ago and finally decided to post it. Please ignore any spelling errors!
-Y/N gets hired by Tony for the rest of the team as a way to de-stress after missions
-Y/N gets used by most of the Avengers on the daily, but is always happy to please.
-Y/N is a switch but most of the Avengers are doms
-Y/N loves when they're lounging around and then someone will come up and just start fucking them no matter where it is
-living room? Fucked. Kitchen? Fucked. Meeting room? Fucked. Meeting room during a meeting? Oh honey you're in for a good time.
-Y/N has their own room and bed, but tends to sleep on the floor of someone else's room because that's what good pets do
-Y/N will sometimes get to sleep with someone for the night, usually Wanda who is a soft Dom and likes being called Mommy. She loves holding her baby. To Wanda you're her baby not her pet and that makes you feel special
-Nat is into some darker stuff that you didn't realize you liked until she introduced you to them (knife play, noncon con, somnophilia, omorashi, branding, dacryphilia, breeding)
-Nat has a dick and you would never pick favorites, but hers is your favorite
-Steve likes regular sex, but is super rough and into hair pulling and choking
-Loki uses his magic to make you fall fast into sub space and big on degrading.
-Thor is the opposite and only ever praises you he loves calling you princess
-Bucky is rough with you, but praises the whole time on how well you're doing, calls you doll as his nickname for you
-Bruce refused to use you at first and it wasn't until after him and hulk were able to live harmoniously that he fucked you, “Oh look at you big boy. I don't know if you'll fit like this.” “I'll make it fit and you'll take it all.” You do.
-Tony, Rhodey, Scott, Clint and Sam all don't fuck you as they have their own things going on.
-You thought Kate would be gentle with you, but she ends up being pretty rough and talks you through everything, grounding you in the moment which overwhelms you with pleasure.
-Yelena, who you thought would be rough, is actually a sub, a little at that. Her childhood ripped away from her and now she just wants ‘Mommy’ which you have no problems giving her.
-Tasha feels really uncomfortable at first when Yelena and Kate join the Avengers since Yelena is her sister.
-You understand why, but you have to remind her it's still your job
-Yelena is huge on physical touch and requires it often. Skin to skin is best.
-speaking of love languages you try your best with everyone's love languages as you all get to know each of them
-Steve is words of affirmation and quality time. Always tell him how good he's doing and you guys go on “dates” having dinner or watching a movie or doing a puzzle
-Bruce is acts of service and quality time. This usually involves you being in the lab and helping him whenever he needs it.
-Thor is WoA, physical touch, and quality time. He likes taking you out and experiencing new things
-Natasha is WoA and acts of service. You always praise her while you're fucking, “oh your cock is amazing! It fits me perfectly!” Saying things like that sends Nat over the edge.
-Loki is mainly all about physical touch. When you two are out he always has a hand or an arm on you
-Wanda's is quality time and WoA. You two love watching sitcoms her favorites are the old ones and yours are the new ones like The Office and Big Bang Theory
There comes a point where you realize that you actually love each and every Avenger, and it worries you that they only see you as a toy, but it's the farthest thing for them mostly.

so why can’t you see (you belong with... each other?)
@whoreforthebauteam I don’t know if you want to be tagged in every chapter, but it was your present, so I am, I hope that’s okay!!
I take back what I said last time, this is my favourite scenario.
This is stupid, wildly inaccurate, probably an insult to every dance teacher that has ever walked the planet and also... just really stupid. But I had fun writing it, it’s almost 11:30pm, I’m tired and yeah.
We’re going with it. Ignore any errors and lack of continuity, I wrote most of this whilst fasting and literally just wanted to get it done so I can work on mr scratch
Erm, updates will probably be even worse after this because I have exams coming up and the next thing is completely... I don’t have any ideas, but yeah- just a heads up
previously: part one , part two , part three
read on ao3!
Chapter Four: Attempt Three- Penelope Garcia
Penelope Garcia loved love, in every single one of its forms. Her unfailing belief in love and its goodness was one of the things that defined who she was. It let her look at screens filled with horrors and was one of the biggest reasons for her to smile.
She loved the romantic love she had for Marissa. She loved the way Derek looked at Spencer when he thought nobody was watching him. She loved the platonic love JJ had for Hotch, and the way she would slip him chocolates when he seemed more pale than usual. She loved the love of a father Aaron had for Spencer, even though neither had experienced it properly.
She loved the ways in which people found love, and how they clung to it. She loved the way it made people smile and the things they were willing to do for it.
Which was why breaking up with Kevin had been the best decision about love she ever made. Because Kevin did not love her in the way that she deserved. And when she walked away from him one last time, she had felt relieved. Not sad, or angry. Relieved.
JJ and Emily had been ecstatic when she'd turned up at their apartment with a bottle of wine. They hadn't liked Kevin much, they thought he was a bit dodgy and not worth her time, but because she had seemed happy and it was easy to keep an eye on him to make sure he wasn't being a creep, they'd refrained from saying anything too obvious.
That same evening, she had phoned Derek and Spencer, who also then dropped their plans and they ended up having an impromptu party on a work night because she was finally free of Kevin and his existence.
When they turned up the next day, slightly hungover, Hotch had seemed like a disapproving parent- they'd exited the elevator with groans and complaints, Penelope massaging her forehead- and immediately gone silent when they realised he was standing there, holding a file, scowl looking slightly harsher than usual.
"It's lovely of you to join us. In the future, if you're going to be running three hours late, please inform either me or Rossi. Hell, tell Strauss. We've had people trying to track you down for the past hour and a half. Poor Anderson looked like he was going to resign from the FBI, and his face is never going to be the same after the frown lines you gave him," he had said, voice completely even.
"Hotch we're really sorry, we genuinely did not mean to cause such a big problem-" JJ had started, the first to recover.
He gave them one of his small, secretive smiles that seemed to light up his entire face and soften his eyes. "I'm joking. Everyone's fine. But seriously, please do tell us, we were beginning to worry. Is everyone okay though? It's not like you five to all be late on the same day."
Spencer looked between Penelope and Emily, who were smirking at each other, whilst JJ and Derek sighed but glared at the two mischief causers, warning them to not give away too much.
"I broke up with Kevin," Penelope blurted out.
Hotch's smile faded, and a look of concern settled over his features. "Oh, Penelope. Are you okay? Do you need some time off? You have lots of leave, I can clear it now if you'd like me to, there's no problem."
She started laughing. "Sir, we were having a party. I was never fully happy with him and breaking up with him was like- it was like coming into the office after a very annoying person was stuck with me during a case and finding that my handsome Unit Chief has sent me flowers."
Hotch seemed secretly proud that Penelope had broken up with Kevin because he had also never been a big fan of him, a fact that he had never really kept secret. When she mentioned the flowers he had sent her, many years ago, his jaw dropped.
"You never-"
"I wanted to let you think I didn't know. Now, shall we go?"
"Of course. Dave will probably want to hear about your reactions to my speech." When he saw how shocked they all looked, he continued. "It wasn't my idea!"
And Kevin had been completely forgotten by all of them.
Three months later, Penelope had met Marissa. As cliche as it was, they met a coffee shop. Their orders had been mixed up- she'd ended up with a flat white instead of the new toffee flavoured latte she had wanted to try- and neither had realised until it was too late.
When she'd gone back the next day, the barista had handed her a coffee without her even placing an order. She'd tried to tell them that she hadn't asked for it, but they had simply smiled at her, then pointed at Marissa, who had waved her over. Said that she wasn't a big fan of toffee, but she thought the pretty woman's boldness was something she wanted to be too, and if Penelope was willing to go on a walk with her.
One thing led to another, and a month later, they were officially dating. Penelope had never been happier in a relationship. Marissa's sarcasm and dry sense of humour balanced out her brightness and inappropriate jokes, but it wasn't just that made them compatible. It was everything else too. They just fit. And when Penelope stared into her eyes, still so mesmerised by them almost seven months later, she could see a future that would've never been able to have with Kevin.
Marissa was a dance teacher. Primarily contemporary and ballet, but she was thinking about branching into ballroom dancing, and it was exactly that fact that sparked Penelope's idea. Her original idea had involved flash mobs and individual confessions of love, but she also wanted to respect that Hotch enjoyed his privacy. And that he didn't like a fuss to be made of him, ever, even when it really was needed.
She didn't tell the others that she was planning anything, otherwise they would've started asking and it was such a good idea that she just wouldn't have been able to keep the knowledge to herself. It wasn't anything bad, she just didn't want to tell them and have it fall through because Marissa wasn't able or comfortable with doing it.
It was date night when her plan began. She had taken Marissa ice-skating, which had been an incredible experience and something that always made her feel like she was flying. Apparently some of the other people had taken some photos of them, holding each other and laughing at their own antics, so she was waiting for them to download. Marissa was laughing at something a child was doing, sipping her hot chocolate as she tried to warm herself up.
And Penelope knew, it was then or never.
"Sweetness, remember when you said you wanted to start teaching ballroom?" she asked suddenly.
Marissa tucked her hair behind her ear. "Yeah, but I still think it might be risky, because I've never been taught how to teach it and I don't want to mess it up."
Penelope took her hands and Marissa smiled. In some way, it reminded her of the way Hotch smiled- small and subtle, but absolutely everything to witness.
"If you want to do it, then you should. And I've seen you teach before, there's no way you could mess this up. But, and this is completely up to you, I have an idea. It could benefit both of us."
“Both of us? What is this plan?”
“You need to practice on someone to gain some confidence. So practice on my team. They’ll be delighted to help you, and then we can all spend more time together. They really like you. Much more than anyone else I’ve introduced them to. They’ll say yes.”
“Would they? It would be amazing if they did.”
“Of course they will.”
“Penelope, I love you so much. Thank you for doing this. I’m confused though. What do you get out of this?”
“The opportunity to go down in history as the best Cupid the world has ever seen.”
"What on earth- actually don't tell me now, I'll end up spilling your plan to the people involved," Marissa said, snuggling closer. Penelope pressed a kiss to her hair, smiling at the thought of spending more time with her girlfriend and winning the bet.
The next day, she went and sat with everyone in the bullpen, balancing her laptop on her knees as she worked. The rest of the team were working on individual consults, but Derek and JJ had decided to spend some time with their partners instead of just sitting in their offices. Rossi was doing his work from his office, and Hotch was in a meeting with Strauss and the Director. He hadn't seemed happy about it.
"Guys, what would you do if I said I can get Hotch and Rossi together but I need you to come to Marissa's practice run of a ballroom dancing lesson in order for it to work?" she asked, not even looking up from her screen.
"Start from the beginning," JJ said.
"Nope, because that will ruin my plan. Would you?"
“I mean, if Spencer didn’t mind, I would go. Any excuse to dance with the prettiest boy I know,” Derek said, a small and loving smile plastered across his face.
Spencer looked down slightly, cheeks tinged with a blush. “If it’ll help the two of them be happy, then fine, yes. But only if you promise to not make any comments if I’m not good at it.”
“Spencer, of course we won’t judge, dancing can be quite hard. And it’s not going to be a super serious session, it’s a trial run for Marissa and my attempt at getting them together, so it’s not the end of the world. JJ? Emily?”
“If Will can take Henry for the day, then sure, otherwise I don’t think I’ll be able to make it, is that okay?” JJ said, already pulling her phone out to see whether or not he was available. He responded moments later, saying it would be fine, and Penelope smiled.
“Sure. I’m excited to see whether your plan can top mine,” Emily said.
Penelope grinned. “Great! I’ll see you all at ten on Saturday then. Now I just need to get the two of them to agree…”
As she headed up to Rossi’s office, the four remaining team members all gave each other identical looks of fear. They knew that, realistically, Penelope’s plan couldn’t be that wild or dangerous, but they also knew how fiercely determined she could be when there was something she wanted to achieve. They also knew how adamant she was that everybody would find love, they just needed to be ready and willing. So they really had no idea what they were getting themselves into.
They assured themselves they would be fine, because they weren’t the ones being set up. And then they immediately felt extreme amounts of relief at the fact that Penelope had never once turned her match-making skills to them.
Rossi was working on the paperwork he’d stolen from Hotch’s office when Penelope knocked, popping her head around the door. The open blinds meant the team were able to watch through the window, and they did. They weren’t profiling, they were just observing for a bit of fun and to try and see whether or not they’d be able to get any more information from their exchange.
“Sir, what are your opinions on ballroom dancing?” she asked, not even bothering with hello.
“It’s okay. I don’t have particularly strong opinions on it either way. Why?” Rossi responded.
“Because Marissa would like to find out whether or not she would be able to teach ballroom dancing, so I have offered us up as guinea pigs for her to test on but she obviously can’t just do it with two couples, so I was wondering whether you’d be willing to come or if I needed to ask Anderson,” she said, tone not indicating any sort of ulterior motive whatsoever.
“If she’s teaching, you would need to be her partner so she could demonstrate. Who exactly is my partner?”
“Hotch of course. Sir, he could never say no to you. He loves you too much- us. He loves us too much. To say no. Or to deny us something small like this,” she said, realising as she spoke that it was too much, too soon.
Rossi went to deny that Hotch loved him- in any way, not just the one he’d found himself thinking about as he’d washed the singular plate and singular wine glass the previous night- but found that he couldn’t. Because Penelope was right. In some way, Hotch loved every single member of the team, in a way that Max Ryan and Jason Gideon would never have been brave enough to do.
It filled him with pride, a little sadness, and something close to admiration that he was too much of a coward to properly define. And then he realised that he had gone too long without speaking, because Penelope was beginning to shift uncomfortably.
“Sir? Are you okay? You kinda… disappeared for a moment there,” she said.
“I’m okay, just thinking. Of course I’ll tag along to the dance lesson, if only to give Morgan a few funnier nightmares. When is it?”
Penelope grinned, so wide and so beautifully, it almost hurt. He pushed the thought from his head. She was never going to lose her faith in the beauty of people. Not whilst she was able to find the beauty in everything, and not whilst she smiled without any shame or hesitance.
“Saturday and ten, unless we get a case, and if we do, we’ll sort it out after. Does that work for you?”
Even if hadn’t, he would’ve completely rearranged his career to make it. He didn’t just want to give Derek some funny nightmares. He also wanted to spend time with the team, and watch Hotch morph into Aaron as he smiled unabashedly and was dressed in casual clothes- he needed to get a grip.
“Of course it does. Thank you for inviting me,” he said, hoping that would end the conversation.
It did. When Garcia closed the door behind her, he groaned, then buried himself in the paperwork. Nothing would distract him more than trying to come up with a real justification for the BAU technology budget (Aaron’s preliminary notes just said: they don’t have to deal with a pouting Penelope.)
She just gave a thumbs up to the team, then went back into the bullpen. As she set about making her own tea, she realised that Hotch had returned from his meeting. It hurt a bit, to see him look so exhausted and disheartened. He always was, when he returned from those meetings with the Director, even with Strauss acting as a buffer between the two of them. So she made him one of her special coffees- with the added caramel and hazelnut milk- before heading up to his office, not bothering to knock because he had spent so long trying to convince them all it was fine to not knock that she couldn’t bring herself to do it.
“Oh hello Garcia. Did you need something?” he asked.
She set the coffee down and took the seat opposite. “Not in the conventional way.”
He smiled at the drink, taking a single sip, and some of the light returned to his eyes. “Oh? What do you mean?”
“Well you know Marissa right?”
“Of course I do, she’s lovely. Penelope, I really don’t think I’m the best person to come to if you need advice. Surely Derek or JJ would be better?”
“I don’t need advice silly,” she said with a smile, because her boss was just so good to all of them. “I need you to come to the dance studio on Saturday at ten because she wants to start teaching ballroom dancing and I’ve offered us up as test subjects.”
He blinked, and she realised how rude her demand had sounded.
“Only if you and Jack didn’t have plans and if you’re willing and actually able to of course,” she added hastily.
“Are you sure you want me there? I’m not… the best dancer, and I don’t want Marissa to be discouraged just because I have two left feet,” he said, looking slightly hesitant, but like he would say yes with a bit of encouragement.
“Sir, the worst of a dancer you are, the better. But I’ve saw you with Haley. You could give Derek a run for his money. There’s no pressure. I just wanted to ask because Derek, Spencer, Emily and JJ are acting as the other two couples. Rossi said he would come, but if you can’t make it-”
“Dave agreed?” Aaron cut in, meeting her eyes properly for the first time since they started talking. There was something behind the shock and slight glee that made her feel warm inside. She had been right- they both just needed a push.
“Yeah, he said the timing works for him. If it doesn’t for you-”
“No, it’s perfect. Jack doesn’t need to spend every waking moment with me, and he’s actually got a soccer camp that weekend, so I would’ve been in the apartment alone anyways. Of course I’ll come. It’s for you and Marissa after all,” he said, giving her the same smile usually reserved for Jack.
And Dave.
“Oh sir, thank you, thank you, thank you! Marissa is going to be so excited when I tell her! I promise you, even if it’s a disaster, you’ll have fun, and she will appreciate it more than you could ever imagine!”
“Penelope, it’s okay,” Hotch said with a slight laugh. “I’m not doing anything that out there.”
“I know that. But you’re just a good boss. You always have been,” she said, getting up and going to the door.
Hotch blushed and looked down. “Penelope…”
“Yes?” she asked, turning back.
“What does- what should I wear?”
She had to bite back a laugh, because there was her fierce Unit Chief, who had barely blinked when a gun was fired just to the left of his good ear, staring at her like she carried all the answers, with flushed cheeks, asking what he should wear to a dance lesson where the ulterior motive was to get him with his best friend. Not that he knew about that.
“Anything thats comfortable,” she said, then left.
Marissa was indeed very happy when she found out, and when Penelope watched her face break into a grin as she processed the knowledge, she realised that happiness didn’t come from a relationship, but sharing it was amazing.
By some miracle, no out of town cases crossed their desks, which meant Saturday morning saw them all at the dance studio, dressed in t-shirts and sweatpants, stretching so they didn’t pull a muscle.
Hotch had paled slightly as Marissa explained that one.
“Okay, so what I’m going to have you do is pair up, and face each other. First I’ll describe how you’re meant to position your arms, then you’ll try and do it, and I’ll correct you if you’re wrong. Then I’ll just need you to follow my lead- I’ll demonstrate with Penelope. We’ll go from there. Is that good with everyone?” she said, after everyone had stretched for an adequate amount of time.
“Of course,” Derek said. Spencer nodded, looking slightly nervous, but Derek noticed and immediately placed a hand on his back to try and soothe him. It worked. JJ and Emily also nodded. Rossi grinned, and Hotch seemed hesitant, but stood up nonetheless.
“Great, so if you could all just turn and face your partners,” Marissa said, grinning when she took Penelope’s hands to press a kiss to them.
Derek and Spencer snickered at each other, which set off JJ and Emily, but Dave wouldn’t quite meet Aaron’s eyes. He was too afraid of meeting his eyes. Those beautiful and caring brown eyes that always sparkled with love whenever he saw his son, or his former sister-in-law that had really been his sister ever since Haley first confessed to her about her crush on him, all those years ago.
“Dave, are you okay to lead?” Marissa asked, pulling him from his thoughts.
“Hmm? Oh yeah, sure. Aaron is that okay?” he asked.
Aaron nodded, cheeks slightly flushed. “Course it is.”
“Great, so just place your arms… like this,” Marissa said, moving him slightly. It meant he was close enough to hear Aaron’s heartbeat. It was slightly erratic, and he frowned, wondering why. It wasn’t like him to be nervous about something like this.
“Okay, so ballroom dancing obviously covers a wide range of dance styles, so to keep things simple, we’re just going to a waltz. So hands where I’ve told you to put them- Spencer and Derek I am looking at you, and follow my instructions as best you can. We’ll go from there.”
Spencer laughed, whilst Derek pretended to be scandalised. Emily gagged, and Aaron couldn’t contain his laugh at their antics. It was the most beautiful thing Dave had ever heard, so fearless and carefree that it physically hurt him, and he was well and truly screwed. To try and move past the feeling in his stomach that he most certainly was not going to name, he placed his hands exactly where Marissa had told him, noting that Aaron’s breath seemed to catch in his throat. He told himself to not to read into it.
Which was funny, because Aaron was telling himself that he needed to get his heartbeat under control. That there was no deeper reason behind Dave’s refusal to meet his eyes. There was a completely reasonable explanation for the goosebumps that seemed to be spreading under his shirt, and there was no way he had been holding his breath without realising, only releasing it when Dave ran his hands down his arms.
“Okay, so person that’s leading, step this way,” Marissa instructed.
Dave did exactly as she said with no hesitation. Aaron flushed as the realisation that they were about to be dancing together, with all of their subordinates there to witness any failures. It was strange, but he felt like both Marissa and Penelope were watching him more intently than the others.
Dave had said everything would be fine, that there was nothing going on, but he couldn’t help the uneasy feeling forming in his stomach. The same feeling he instinctively got every time Jack appeared with glitter in his hands. He wondered when he started seeing the members of his team as children.
He also wondered how soon he’d be able to retire, now that more and more parallels between the qualified FBI agents who were trusted to carry weapons and talk down killers and his seven-year-old son were becoming clear.
“Where’s your mind gone?” Rossi asked, pulling him back into the moment.
Hotch stumbled slightly, but Dave’s arms were solid and firm around him, keeping him upright and leading him around their little area as though it was the most natural thing in the world to him.
“Nowhere interesting,” he said. Dave was always so smart, and everything he said had a purpose. If he knew Aaron was thinking about the younger members of the team as children, he’d never hear the end of it.
Dave stepped back, pulling Aaron flush against him as Marissa demonstrated exactly what they were meant to be doing. Aaron turned so Dave wouldn’t see the colour rise to his cheeks. It was beautiful to see the other members of his team, just having fun and enjoying themselves like there was nothing wrong in the world.
“You don’t give yourself enough credit. Even if nobody else does, I find that brain of yours fascinating, no matter what it is you’re coming out with.”
“I was just thinking about the team. And how far they’ve come. And how I have no idea when I became their pseudo-parent, but that it doesn’t fill me with fear anymore,” he confessed.
“You’ve come so far too. And you’ve always been like family to them,” Dave said. Family. Nothing more. Certainly not anything romantic.
Hotch couldn’t help but laugh. “If Max heard you say we were like a family-”
“He’d murder me and they’d never catch him. I know.”
“Guys you’ve done really well, and this has really helped me, so I think we’re good to call it a day now. We’ll just do some cool-down stretches and then you can all go back to normal and pretend this never happened. Unless you want to go for lunch. That’s also an option,” Marissa said with a slight laugh.
“Lunch would be amazing, I’m starving,” JJ said.
Derek shrugged. “We don’t have any plans, do we, pretty boy?”
Spencer shook his head. “Also Marissa said she would try and show me that new magic trick, and lunch would be the perfect time to try and understand how it works.”
“Aaron?” Marissa asked.
From behind her, Emily and Derek cringed. It was stupid, but hearing Hotch be referred to as Aaron always felt weird. It didn’t matter whether it was Jessica, Erin, Marissa or Dave doing it, there was just something about their boss being known as anything but his nickname that felt like calling a parent their first name.
“If I won’t be intruding,” he said.
“Never!” Penelope exclaimed, grinning even wider when she realised that Dave’s hands were still on Hotch’s waist. She tapped Marissa on the shoulder, subtly gesturing to the sight. Marissa had very quickly realised what was going on, so a lot of what she had done was to try and aid the attempt.
“But before we do, Dave, do you mind if I use you and Aaron to demonstrate one last thing? It won’t take long, I just want to do it before we go,” she said.
Derek frowned, and Penelope let out a quiet gasp when she realised that Marissa didn’t really want to demonstrate something, she wanted to push them even closer than the morning already had.
She was going to win the bet!
“Oh sure. Aaron, you mind being my partner one last time?” Dave teased.
“Never,” Aaron said, voice strangely vulnerable. Something flashed across Dave’s face, before he smirked and adjusted the way his hands were positioned.
Marissa led them through a different type of waltz. Aaron stumbled and missed the steps a few times, but Dave carried him through flawlessly, and was so confident as he glided around the small studio, Aaron following him without a shadow of doubt because of the trust between them, that it was almost impossible to pick up on.
“And Aaron, twirl into his arms!” Marissa shouted, as the music reached a climax and Dave let go of his one of his hands, forcing him to spin outwards. Her plan was for them to meet the others eyes, and see the love that everyone else had apparently picked up on, and do something about it.
What happened was slightly different.
Aaron overbalanced as he turned into Dave’s arms, which wouldn’t have been the end of the world. Unfortunately for everyone, at some point during the final dance, his laces had come undone. So not only did he overbalance, he stepped on the aforementioned undone lace. Which also would have been fine, if it had just been that, and that alone. But because it was combined with the overbalancing, he did not manage to meet Dave’s eyes and see something more than friendship reflected in them.
He did however, manage to make an absolute fool of himself as he fell to the ground, reflexes too slow to stop himself from hitting it face-first. The noise of pain he let out was enough to make Emily stop laughing at his misfortune.
Dave immediately crouched down next to him, gently turning him and shifting him into a sitting up position so they could check that he didn’t have a concussion or any other injuries.
“My face really hurts,” Aaron whined after blinking a few times, feeling more oriented.
“I mean you did hit the floor pretty hard,” Emily teased. When Penelope hit her arm, she pretended to look completely innocent.
“Aaron, I’m so sorry-” Marissa started.
“You didn’t do anything wrong, don’t feel guilty. Besides, that was the most fun I’ve had without Jack in a while. I would definitely do it again, just with my laces actually tied properly. Dave, why are you looking at me like that?” he rambled.
“I think you’ve broken your nose,” Dave said, sounding nonchalant but panicking because he had no idea what he was meant to do in this situation.
“Oh,” was all Aaron said.
Morgan leapt into action the moment he processed the words. “Dave, get him to the hospital. They can make sure that nothing else is wrong and fix his face properly, without causing more damage. And you’re his proxy. Because it’s just a minor thing, the rest of us don’t need to be there, but we will all go for lunch so that we’re together if there’s any news. Okay?”
Everyone nodded, quickly gathering their things and departing. Before she left, Garcia gave her boss a kiss on the forehead, feeling terrible that things had gone downhill, but also grateful that he wasn’t mad, had ended up having fun, and that Marissa’s confidence didn’t seem too shaken.
Derek shook his head as he watched the women argue over something, whilst Marissa showed Spencer the magic trick she had promised him. How the bet had gone from the joke it had started as to this was beyond him, but he wasn’t blind. He had seen them dancing. They loved each other. It was just a matter of making them realise that it was romantic, not platonic.
An idea was forming, but until they got confirmation that Hotch- not Aaron because that was weird, no matter what Marissa said- was fine, he would put any and all thoughts about it to one side. He was a bit annoyed at himself for being such a romantic though. It meant he needed to actually come up with a decent plan.
Hotch did end up being fun. The doctors were- in Morgan’s words- fix his face without causing more damage. And whilst he passed their tests without any issues, they did decide to keep him in overnight, just to make sure he didn’t have any sort of delayed confusion or injuries.
Dave stayed until visiting hours ended. A fact that was not lost on the rest of the team.
Before he left, Aaron called out his name, and he turned.
“Yes?”
“Thank you for staying,” Aaron whispered.
“It wasn’t difficult to. It’s never been difficult with you,” he replied, wishing he could put it more eloquently, but he had no idea how to.
Aaron just smiled, wishing he could say something intelligent too, but he was tired and his head was killing him. “Have a nice evening Dave,” he settled on in the end. It wasn’t much, but it was something.
“Sweet dreams Aaron,” Dave said. It didn’t sound sarcastic, so Aaron smiled.
He dreamt of dances and double beds and drenched shirts, but throughout all of it, Dave seemed to be watching over him like a guardian angel, so the sleep he had was peaceful. Strange, but peaceful.
He would cling to that feeling of peace when he entered the office on Monday, because something was definitely going on.
Only it seemed like Derek was plotting. Aaron wasn’t sure how he felt about that. All Derek knew was that soon, the other members of the BAU would be buying him coffee and deeming him the best matchmaker of all time.

Part 9

@multishipper-trash
I switched to calling him Shoyo since everyone except Kageyama calls him that but I’ll probably go back to Hinata in a different part (also bc Natsu is technically a Hinata so)
•
“A letter!!” Natsu announced from the door, her feet slapping against the wood of the stairs as she made her way to Shoyo’s room. “Nii-chan!!
“Coming!”
Natsu bounced on her heels impateintly, listening to the rustle of Shoyo’s sheets. Shoyo yelped and then began hissing something she couldn’t quite make out, and then after a few minutes of relative quiet, Tobio and Shoyo shouted at each other before Tobio stormed out, barging past her without patting her head like usual. Natsu wondered if he had a fever, since his face was the color of steamed crab.
Huh, so did Shoyo. Maybe they were both sick?
“Nii-chan.” She proffered the letter, shifting her weight.
Shoyo shook his head, his flush lightening enough that it only stained his cheeks. “Thanks, Natsu,” he said, smiling as he ruffled her hair. She grinned up at him and turned on her heel, padding over to the kitchen to rattle off what she learned in school the day prior to their mom.
The letter Shoyo held was from the “Kenma” that had made a contract with him the month before, with a simple wax seal of a cat with headphones on. The envelope was crisp and pristine, although the penmanship of the address lines was constantly fluctuating between beautiful and scribbly.
Shoyo glanced around, making sure Kageyama wasn’t nearby, then retreated into his bedroom, ignoring the tangle of sheets that had collapsed to the floor during the earlier...incident... and instead settling into his desk.
‘Hello, Shoyo.
There’s more funding in the envelope inside the one you pulled this out from. Have fun with it, I guess.
I was wondering if you want to meet up with me at some point. I’ll leave my contact stuff at the bottom of this letter... Leave the scary guy you who follows you around at home please. I don’t want to get murdered.
Anyway. We can discuss the details for the date meet and greet when we meet up over text, if you want to actually do that.
Kenma.
XXX-XXX-XXXX’
Shoyo found the wad of bills and decided that he’d make sure ‘Kenma’ would let him pay for food and stuff for when they met up, guilt gnawing at him for taking charity. It wasn’t like he wasn’t giving anything for it, but he didn’t actually feel any difference in his mana supply—not that he could even actually tell that there was mana in him. Maybe the contracts just weren’t taking as much as he thought they would be? —Like everyone taking five yen when he has a billion yen: pretty much negligible. (—Thank you Tsukishima for using that word. Hinata just hoped he wouldn’t use it to describe his test score increases relative to his grade again.)
Shoyo snagged his phone off the nightstand (pointedly ignoring Kageyama’s beside it), tossing himself onto his mattress and kicking his feet as he sent a greeting.
•
Kuroo had himself draped over Kenma’s bed, scrolling idly through messages Lev sent to their groupchat and rolling his eyes. He glanced over at the partial-blonde, who was so close to the TV, Kuroo wondered if he’d eventually pass through the screen and actually enter the game.
Beside his head, Kenma’s phone flashed and pinged, and he’d never seen Kenma move so fast. The game was paused and Kenma was lain beside Kuroo in an instant, his eyes flicking across the screen with overwhelming intensity.
“Did a preorder drop or something?”
Kenma completely ignored him. Kuroo tried to quell his urge to annoy his best friend with dramatics.
The shorter spent five minutes reading whatever message he had received, probably rereading it multiple times if Kuroo were to go off the fact that Kenma hadn’t scrolled.
Finally, after an agonizing period of tense silence, Kenma’s thumbs got to work, typing and retyping words. Kenma mouthed the sentences and scrunched his nose periodically, probably noticing syntax errors.
It was a little bizarre, since Kenma didn’t usually care about what he wrote or how he wrote it. Kuroo once had to read the words “skin $100 said no moth,” with his own eyes, and the message still sometimes haunts him. (Kenma meant to type, “My mother said no to buying the $100 skin,” but didn’t correct himself afterward.)
“Do I add a ‘please’ when saying where to meet me or is that desperate?”
“Do you actually want my opinion or are you talking to yourself?”
Kuroo sighed as Kenma continued his pondering, muttering about lines from a few otome games. Kuroo leaned over and scanned the message, as neither of them had ever been particular about privacy, biting his lip to keep from laughing.
“Hey,” Kenma snapped, falling out of his deliberations. He rolled over and away, which led to him slipping to the floor.
Kuroo burst into cackles, only catching his breath after Kenma tossed a remote at his head. “W... Who’s got ya all riled u-up?” he tried to inquire, panting.
“None of your business.”
“Is ‘Shoyo’ a special friend I should know about?” Kuroo waggled his eyes, dodging an amiibo that sailed through the air and left a noticeable dent in Kenma’s wall.
“N-No.”
It was quite clear that Kuroo did not believe him one bit, his Hyena-like laughter rippling through the air. “You’re lying—your ears are red! Your blushing so hard!”
“Shut up!” Kenma hid under the covers at the foot of the bed, trying to look back at his phone. Kuroo, deciding that he was fine with dying there, poked at Kenma’s head, seeking amusement from teasing the half-blonde.
“Huh?” Kenma was stock-still, not even moving when Kuroo prodded at him. “Kenma, you okay? Are you dead?” The blankets were raised, Kuroo peering upside-down at his friend.
Dead seemed like an understatement—after all, at least then you would see the life draining out of the body. No, Kenma appeared as though his soul was sucked out with a vacuum and his body sat empty while his spirit struggled against the vacuum bag.
Kuroo snatched Kenma’s phone out of his hands, his friend not twitching or reacting at all. The only indication that Kenma was still existent was the slow paling of his skin.
“What’s got you so.... Oh. Well... Yep, that’ll do it.”
The last line of his message, which he probably was intending to delete—or at least rewrite—simply read, ‘I look forward to our date.’
•
“He won’t think that you wanted it to be a date if I come,” Kuroo explained as he shoved Kenma toward the cafe, still quite sympathetic of his poor friend’s pain. Kenma had his hood pulled up and kinda seemed tempted to drift into traffic, so Kuroo just kept a better hold of his shoulders as he drove him forward.
“Maybe he’ll take pity on me and stab me with a teaspoon.”
“Maybe you’ll be less morbid, how about that?”
“We both know that’s very unlikely.” Kenma managed to open the door before Kuroo flattened him against it.
“True,” he sighed. “So, you see him?”
Kenma glanced around, fingertips rubbing against his nails within his pockets as he sought out Shoyo.
After a moment of peering around, he spotted sunrise eyes and a mane of flame, as well as the scent of full, unfettered magic wafting through the air.
“There,” Kenma breathed as Kuroo straightened, eyes fixating on the summoner. Kuroo whistled to himself.
“I’m counting myself lucky that you’re not territorial.”
Kenma squinted at his best friend, though he let his withering glare fall exasperatedly. “I’m getting there.”
Kuroo’s smile grew with mischief. “Too late.” His tongue slipped across his upper lip.
Across the cafe, Shoyo shivered, glancing around and catching their predatory gazes. Unlike prey, his eyes didn’t waver, and their excitement only grew.

Gentle strokes were brushed against her skin, mindlessly tracing shapes that triggered her to stir. A familiar and comforting warmth surrounded her, curling around her back and holding her tightly against a broad chest. Slow open mouth kisses on her shoulder and down her back woke her in a haze, the soft rumble from his chest told her he knew she was slowly coming to.
Y/N responded with a breathy sigh and a sleepy curl of her lips, more than content to simply lie in his arms for a little longer. It wasn’t often she would wake to his caresses; he was a man that never seemed to stop long enough for these quiet moments, and she was going to savor every second. Steve brushed her hair aside and tenderly slid his lips along her nape, his beard rubbing against her neck.
“Baby girl.” He whispered against her skin. Y/N hummed, keep her eyes shut as she chased her dreams. Steve chuckled low in his throat, the vibrations sending shivers down her spine. He wrapped her up tighter in his hold and pressed his hips against her backside. Even in her haze, she could feel his need, hard and hot pressed between her cheeks. He groaned low and unhurriedly rolled his hips, rutting up against her. He whispers her name once again, trailing his fingers down her front. Her breath hitched when his fingers palmed her breast and tugged at her nipples. “You gonna wake up anytime soon?”
Y/N giggled and stretch against him with a sluggish yawn. Steve groaned when she rolled her hips back against him. His free hand grabbed her hips, stilling her teasing with an iron grip. She hid her smirk by tucking her arm under her head and buried her face in the crook her elbow.
“No, I’m still pretty tired from last night.” Y/N mumbled against her arm. Steve quirked a brow, a smug smirk spreading on his face.
“Oh yeah? That’s too bad.” He sighed, his fingers beginning to massage her hip. “I was hoping we could have a second round before I had to get up for the day.”
Y/N shot a glance at the clock on their bedside table, squinting in the still dark room at the time.
“Steve, it’s 5:30 in the morning. Besides, it wouldn’t be a second round, more like a fourth.” Y/N sighed and settled her head back on the pillows. She could feel the pleasant ache from last night between her legs. She couldn’t possibly be ready for another round yet. Nevertheless, she could feel her traitorous body reacting to him pressed up against her, unconsciously rubbing back against him. Worst was, she knew that Steve was well aware of his hold on her.
Ignoring her grumbles, Steve returned to peppering open-mouthed kisses along her body, making sure to drag his beard and lips against her skin. She bit her lip and rubbed her thighs together, the burn sending sparks of pleasure down her spine. Already she could feel herself dripping down her thighs. Her breath caught in her throat when he slid a hand between her legs and dipped his fingers to her core. A moan bubbled up his throat.
“You’re soaking.” He purred. His fingers expertly rolled her clit between his forefinger and thumb before sliding down to her entrance. “Fuck, you’re so hot.”
Y/N gasped when he slipped two fingers inside her. He wasted no time hooking his fingers, expertly rubbing against the buddle of nerves inside her. She moaned deeply and pressed her thighs together, trapping his hand in place. Y/N whimpered his name, gasping and pleading as she rolled against his hands. It was too much, it was always too much with him. Steve snickered and quickly withdrew his fingers despite her resistance to let her free.
“Thought you wanted to sleep more.” He mocked over her needy whine. “What? You want this?”
He hitched her leg up over his hip, opening her up to drag his cock against her center. Y/N threw her head back and moaned, desperately rolling her hips back for more friction. Steve chuckled darkly at her feeble attempts, taking time to rub her along his full length, coating his length with her slickness. He pressed against her entrance, making sure to add enough force to tease, but not to give her what she desperately wanted. He paused, soaking in her whimpers.
Y/N hated that she loved it when he did this to her. He’d sit there and tease her until she’d gone mad with desperation. He got off of watching her writhe underneath him, a twisted part of him that would only come up when he had her at his mercy. Patience was his strong point, but for her, it was the furthest things from her mind. She had hoped he would be merciless despite that. Y/N rolled her head back, her mouth falling open to beg him to move. Steve didn’t let the words fall from her lip, a wicked glint in his eyes was all her warning before he surged forward.
A strangled gasp slipped from Y/N, the breath catching her lungs. He was big, so wonderfully big and stretched her deliciously full. Steve bit down a groan, her warmth wrapping snuggly around him. He sighed and settled a hand on her hip.
Y/N wanted him to move, she was desperate for the friction. Yet it never came. Instead, he stilled her hips with a firm grip and a reprimanding tut when she moved.
“Oh, that’s right. You’re tired.” He sang against her ear. “Well, I’ve done all this work, and it’s nice and warm. Might as well keep it here.”
Y/N’s jaw dropped, her brain struggling to catch up with what he was implying. She turned to argue, but he held fast, keeping her from rolling out of his grip by wrapping his arms around her and holding her tight. She couldn’t even move her hips if she wanted, trapped against the massive super soldier.
“Go to sleep sweetheart.” He whispered gently. “I’ll be here when you wake.”
Everything in her was desperate to argue, to demand he finished what he started. She was wired, her body aching for relief and tears started to well in her eyes. She was tired and desperate to come, but she also knew when Steve had his mind made up, there would be very little that could sway him. Begrudgingly willing herself to relax, Y/N tried to ignore the weight of him inside her, the stretch that teased her with each steady inhale and exhale he took. She clenched her eyes shut and attempted to calm her nerves enough to fall back asleep.
“Sweet dreams, baby girl.” Steve breathed hotly against her ear. Y/N bit her lip and wished her body would stop, but it was pointless. Steve knew the power he had over her. Smirking widely, Steve settled back against the pillows, making a show of wrapping the comforter back around their bodies.
At some point, she must have fallen asleep despite how edgy she had been. Steve’s thick arm was wrapped tightly around her, holding her tightly against his chest. She hummed softly, curling back against him sleepily. He grunted and softly rolled his hips against her.
Y/N’s breath caught in her throat, his length still buried deep and snuggly inside her. The serum was most likely the only reason why he was still hard after the few hours. She felt a shiver run up her back, her lips parting in a sigh as he continued his gentle rut up against her. She felt him begin pressing open mouth kisses up and down her neck, taking time to shower affection to any part of skin he could. The tender caress and gentle rock of his hips was oddly enough to lull her back to sleep, her body going lax in his grip.
Steve didn’t like that. He let out a huff, finding it rather irritating that she was able to fall back asleep, despite the position they were in. Admittedly, Steve fell asleep shortly after Y/N and had only just woken up with his blood pounding in his veins. The teasing he did early to Y/N backfired and now he was feeling the effects of waiting tenfold. He grits his teeth when she fluttered around him and let out a breathy moan. He took one glance at the clock and decided that she had enough sleep.
Steve reached down and hooked Y/N’s leg over his hip and was surprised she didn’t even stir. There’s going to be none of that, he thought smugly. Taking hold of her hip with one hand, grabbing one of her breasts with the other wrapped under her, Steve pulled his hips back and paused. Y/N’s face scrunched, suddenly feeling empty. The sight of her reacting in her sleep was enough to push Steve over the edge. He grinned wide and snapped his hips forward.
Y/N’s eyes flew open, a startled cry exploding from her lips. Steve chuckled darkly and ran his lip along her ear.
“Time to get up.” He whispered hotly. Y/N had little time to brace herself before she found herself on her stomach and her hips pulled up in the air. Steve folded over on top of her, pinning her to the bed with his body as he began a brutal pace, all the pent-up energy and the desperation seeped into his mind and controlled his thrusts.
The sound of skin slapping and Y/N’s breathless moans filled the room. Y/N scrambled to find purchase, digging her nails into the sheets. Steve bit his lip as he slammed into her, his own grunts echoing Y/N’s. He was desperate, needing to feel her tighten around him like a vice and scream his name. His brain was telling him to mark, to claim, and he was more than willing to listen.
“Fuck, baby girl.” He groaned. “I can feel you getting close. You gonna be a good girl and cum for me?”
Y/N nodded vigorously against the sheets. Tears started to prick the corners of her eyes and she could feel the coil inside her tightening. He always filled her so perfectly, rubbing along the spots inside her that made her forget how to breathe. He smirked and sat back, sliding a hand to her lower back to hold her place. He groaned at the sight of him pulling out, covered in her slick before he thrust back inside to bottom out in her wet heat. He could watch that all day.
“Shit-Steve please!” Y/N pleaded. Steve hummed low and reached around to between her legs, his fingers finding her clit. She cried out when he began rubbing circles, bringing her further along. He leaned back down and nipped at her shoulder. The sting sent a zing down her back to her core and her insides tightened around him.
“Come on, Y/N.” He purred. “Cum for me.”
Three little words was all she needed. The coil snapped inside her, a silent scream catching in her throat. Y/N’s eyes rolled in the back of her head as her orgasm washing over. Steve groaned when she spasmed around him, tightening to the point where he could hardly move. He snapped his hips once, twice and finally three more times with gritted teeth before he exploded inside her.
Y/N felt him pulse inside her as she came down from her high, moaning low as he flooded her insides. Panting heavily and body trembling, Steve had to catch himself before he collapsed on top of her. He wrapped her up in his arms once again, pressing her back against his sweat-slicked chest before laying them on their side. All while keeping himself securely inside her, not wanting to waste a drop.
Possibly later, he’d clean her up by lapping at her folds until he was sure she was thoroughly cleaned inside and out. For now, he held her close until their hearts calmed, his length still snuggly inside her fluttering heart. He slid his eyes closed and let out a content sigh into her neck. Y/N giggled softly. Steve always knew how to get his way, one way or another.

Firetruck Linen
DISCLAIMER: reposted here to the new blog
For @violetvineyardnetwork 's pride color week thing. I don’t know if I’ll do every day, but we’ll see. This is day one. The color is red which means life.
Pardon me if there are any errors — not thoroughly proofread because I lost track of dates and thought this was happening later than it was so I panic wrote this real fast. I am a professional, obviously. Anyways, enjoy this first look at Jackson! (I swear all my characters in this world aren’t dumb teens, just wait, I swear we’ll see an adult someday.)
1122 words and no warnings. An anxious boy just buys some linen at a craft store, totally not being awkward while doing so.
*****
Jackson hates the color red.
Which is kind of idiotic (and ironic) considering he wears it on a regular basis. Considering it’s part of him as much as his blood is, something he willingly dons because of what he’s allowed to do when he’s wearing it, the freedom it grants him.
Red is a color he dislikes because it’s his freedom and his prison. Jail bars he can only ever peer out of to see the outside world. Something so simple that determines so much of him.
He figured out he had a power when he was eight. He’s spent every year since, minus that first one, hating it and most of it he also spent trying to repress it, smothering it in his chest like it’ll sputter out in the confines of his ribs to dissipate like ash in the wind.
All it does, however, is gnaw at his intestines like a parasite, burning away the lining to send smoke up his throat.
Heroing isn’t something he really has a choice in. He has to, if he doesn’t want to get hyperthermia or heat stroke or both. (He did, once, when he was nine in was the middle of winter when it made no sense. He was nine when his choice of his future was taken from him). He hates it, but at least he knows what he’s going to do when he graduates, so there’s that.
That doesn’t make buying fabric in front of the eighty-year-old grandmother manning the register any easier, though. Especially since he’s, you know, a teenage boy in a craft store trying to buy half a yard of linen. But hey, sometimes you have to do hard things. Or awkward things. This was definitely the latter.
Sometimes he thinks he’d almost prefer the hyperthermia.
“This is crafting fabric,” she tells him, voice croaked and thin with age.
“I know,” he sighs, fists his hands behind the counter where she can’t see. “My, um, mom asked me to pick some up for her.”
Lie.
His mother was too busy for a time-consuming hobby and was absolutely horrible at crafts and sewing. But it doesn’t hurt anyone to fib about it. It’s just a little lie, not a crime (like vigilanteing). It was fine. Normal, even. Moms sent their sons on shopping errands all the time.
She picks up the strip of firetruck red fabric with her nails. “So she sends you to grab half a yard of red linen? That’s all she needs?”
“That’s... what she told me to grab, yeah. I think she was running low?”
“Are you asking me?”
“No? No. That’s... that’s all. Please.”
“Alright.” She presses a few keys, pulling the fabric closer to peer at the tag. “Half a yard of red linen.”
He nods, feeling like a bobble head. “Yep.” He pops the ‘p’ and winces. “Half a yard of bright red linen for, uh,” his mind blanks on anything that can be made with linen, “...something. She didn’t say what.”
...and he wasn’t asked a question. Cool. Yeah. He was totally acting normal, just running an errand for his mother. Buying fabric for a perfectly normal home project and not to use as a half-baked mask that was going to be ruined in about a month, if he was lucky.
He knew he was somehow making this much worse than it needed to be, but he doesn’t know how.
He does know, however, that if he acts too off she might know what he’s really doing. Buying fabric to DIY a superhero costume. For vigilanteism. A punishable offense on two parts — unsanctioned Supers weren’t allowed to roam the streets and he was a minor.
Minors aren’t allowed. Period. It was too risky, too stressful, too much for any child to bear. He really wishes he had the option to wait until he was eighteen.
“Are you alright, dear?”
“Yes.” He responds too quickly, a little loud for the quiet bumble of the shop, snapping back into the situation at hand and not his runaway train of thought. “I’m fine. Why— why would you ask?” He narrows in on her eyes, wondering how people can see a soul past them. He just sees brown.
“You seem a little jumpy.”
He shakes his head. “No— I’m not... jumpy.” He laughs and it’s forced so he stops. Did that sound suspicious? It probably did.
She hums unconnectedly. “Alright. This’ll be $8.49.”
He grabs at his back pocket and hands her a ten. “Keep the change,” he says, pretending his anxiety is the only thing making him think she knows. He smiles and it feels like the exact wrong move.
This would’ve been so much easier if he was a girl. He wouldn’t be questioned so much than and this could be a smooth experience.
“Here you go,” she says, holding out his now-bagged purchase, the curl of her lips smug.
He grabs it and ignores how his fingers fumble for the handle. “Thank you.” His heart pounds a rhythm in his chest, stirring up an urge to puke. He feels sick — does she know? Is she going to call this in? Is he done for? Has he finally been caught because he thought he had one more spare mask when he hadn’t?
That’s why he was here, though, because linen was supposed to be harder to burn than cotton. He needed something less flammable.
“Have a good day, hun. Be safe.”
His breath stills and he idly wonders where all the air went. “Yeah.”
Definitely. He was totally... going to do that.
Not.
Dang it, she really knew what he was actually doing, didn’t she?
He walks out the door and slaps his palm against his forehead as hard as he can. “Dang,” he whispers. “Should’ve just ordered it online and waited. Stupid. I was a wreck. That was horrible” The heels of his hands press against his browbone, the plastic bag crinkling against his skin.
He sighs, feeling like the water running down the street and into the drain. He shoulda just — not done that. That was bad. That was really bad.
God, how was he so awkward? How did people hold normal conversations? He feels like his chest is about to implode.
He jimmies his phone from his pocket and types a note one-handed to his list of things to remember. He writes the name of the shop and in caps (for emphasis so later him will remember) writes not to ever go there again. Ever.
The little old lady behind the counter knew who he was. Maybe.
That, or he was just really paranoid. Or bad at reading social situations.
Something along one of those lines, probably.

Chapter 5: Tested
[[The American Publicist // JRD]]
Pairing: John Richard Deacon x Reader Word Count: 5.4K Style: Multi-Chapter Warnings: Mental health stuff (panic attack, clinical tests mentioned but not explained) Summary: Y/N was just hired to become a co-manager and publicist for the band Queen. The boys had never travelled abroad, so meeting an American was . . . intriguing, to say the least. Permanent Author’s Note: To clarify, I write because I get bored. Nothing is meant to be professional in any way, nor is meant to offend, cause anxiety, cause anger, cause sadness, or promote disagreement among readers in any sort of (semi)permanent way. A/N: Welcome back to the emotional roller-coaster! I hope you’re ready to ride again! Also, in an effort to get this out, there might be a few grammar errors I did not catch, sorry!
Masterlist // Previous Chapter // Next Chapter // Masterpost
~
Neither of you did anything productive Sunday. Come on – who would have been able to? The events of the private concert were swimming through your heads. The words of the song. The tension in the air.
And in your bodies. You tended to reserve this word for other matters, but that was the most euphoric experience you had had in a long time. And you felt like you could say that, since it has been quite a while since the other event happened to you. John was in a similar position, except that he went home and took care of business. All while he was thinking about you. You were lying in bed Sunday night, still reeling from the events the day before. You were just trying to work on the paperwork you had neglected the day before, when you were startled by a phone call. It was 10:30pm, who could possibly be calling you?
“Hello?”
“Y/N? It-it’s me, love.”
You heart never starting beating so fast in your life.
~
“Hi Deaks, everything okay?”
“Um, yeah. I was just thinking about you-yesterday. What… happened yesterday.”
“Mhm?” You were getting shaky. You had no idea where he was going with this.
“I want to show the boys that song, and I wanted to ask you to do me a favor. Could you try and… react a certain way when you hear it again? I don’t really know how to put this, but can you maybe, try…acting like you have never heard it? The lads only know that I took you back to the studio to show you something, but they have no idea it was a song. Kind of want to surprise them.”
You could not really explain why, but you felt your heart crack a little bit. Were you hoping he would say something else? Something like “oh I feel the same way about you as you do me?” Again, this is real life, not fantasy. People do not magically fall for each other. Wishful thinking. You know for a fact he felt something when he wrote that song, you could see it in his body language when he performed it. And it was not just nerves getting the best of him. Something was going on in his mind when those words came to him, and you knew that it had nothing to do with you. You were not going to let yourself go down that road any more than you already had. It was a mistake to fall for him. You were just hoping it would go away eventually. You could not help but laugh at your own comment in your head.
“Yeah, John. I can do that. Anything for you.”
“Thank you, love.”
“I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“8:30am love, looking forward to it. Goodnight.”
“Night, John.”
You had just made a promise you could not keep. How were you supposed to act like you had never heard the song before? After what it did to you? And to John? You were afraid he would not be able to keep the same promise he made you make.
~
The sound of your alarm going off at 6:00am was worse than normal. You loved going to see the boys, but dragging yourself out of bed was no easy task in the first place. You got up like you would any other morning, showered, and picked up some breakfast on the way to studio. You always tended to get there early, but today you were arrived a little late because there was an accident on the road you took. It must had just happened because the radio did not tell you about it before you left. Since you arrived late, you knew everyone would already be there. You just hoped that they did not wait for you to start doing anything. You waltzed through the door of the main building around 8:55am, and did your best to make it to the Queen section of the building by 9:00am, that way you would not hear a word from Miami. You opened the door to the control room, and everyone was in their rightful places. Miami was at the control table, and all the boys were warming up their instruments mindlessly. You looked through the pane to see if you could make eye contact with John, but he was not facing the window. You were taken out of your trance by the beckoning of your name.
“Y/N. So glad you could join us.”
“Please save it, Miami. I had a long night and there was an accident on my way here, you’re lucky I’m here now.”
“Sorry… I didn’t mean for that to come across that rudely.”
“It-it wasn’t. I was actually ruder than you were. I’m sorry, sir.”
“Well, good morning, darling! We missed your pretty face!”
You threw your head in the direction of the glass and were greeted by four smiling faces. Freddie was grinning ear to ear, Brian and Roger were just smiling sweetly at you, and John had on his… signature smile. He was already off to a much better start than you were.
“John just informed us,” Roger began, “that he brought a song for us to play! But he wanted us to wait until you were here like we did that first Monday. Are you okay with us getting started while you get situated?”
You nodded in his direction, and proceeded to prove to John that two could play at his game. You smiled widely at him, and even added a wave, to which he nodded in recognition. You turned around to place all your new paperwork where it needed to go, not realizing that a crucial portion of it was not in its rightful place. But you had more pressing things to pay attention to. The boys had seemed ready to play the second you walked in, so you were no longer going to keep them waiting. You sat down on the couch, looking eager, with a notepad and pencil in your lap. You gave the thumbs up and off they went. The only part you could pay attention to was the bassline. It was familiar, obviously, since you had heard it before. But it had seemingly wormed its way into a part of your heart that was not going to be ignored. You tried your best to hide it, because John was doing a seemingly flawless job at it, but your chest ached. It ached to be back in that spot on the floor. With John and John alone. Hearing his voice and not Freddie’s booming, operatic one. Sure, his voice was gorgeous, but it was nothing compared to the raw emotion that came out in John’s when he sang this song. His song. His dream girl’s song. You were furiously taking notes so you did not have to look into the booth, you could not risk taking the chance of revealing something. The song was coming to a close and you had written down as much as your hand could handle. You pried your eyes away from your paper and looked up into the booth and your worst nightmare came true. You were met with the eyes of the one person who could screw up your cover. John’s. You immediately swallowed the breath you did not realize you had been holding in and gave him a sweet smile. Except you thought he was looking at your smile. When in reality he was looking at your neck. The necklace. You were still wearing the necklace. In fact, you had not taken it off. It brought you an intense amount of comfort after that evening, thinking about what John went through and what he did for you that night. It was your most cherished possession. You managed to keep yourself collected throughout the song, but as soon as John saw the glint of your necklace… He faltered. He knew the bassline at heart. He knew it Saturday night, so there was no reason he should not know it now. He messed up to the point where he messed up the rest of the band. Roger let out a groan, while Brian and Freddie just looked at him confusedly.
“You alright, mate?”
“Ye-yeah, just got a little bit fuzzy in the head for a second. I skipped breakfast, so… I’ll be alright.”
Roger looked at John with a secretive look, and John refused to look at him. Roger took that as his cue that those words were about a certain American acquaintance they had all come to know and adore. Their one-sided exchange was cut short when you piped up about your notes.
“That was an incredible song, John! I told you that you wouldn’t be in a band if you couldn’t write songs.” You looked at him endearingly, keeping up your end of the bargain much better than he was, considering he was starting to get red in the face. “Now I’m sure none of you noticed this and probably felt like I haven’t been doing my job, but I assure you I have! All the notes I took during the song, and all the other things I’ve written down during these sessions have all regarded where my brain went for the best way of promoting these songs. This isn’t an exhaustive list, but I have preferential choices for what order to release singles, what outfits to wear in photoshoots, the whole nine yards! As I was taking my notes, I realized that I left my big binder of notes in my car, and I’m sure Miami has some words for you boys,” you shot Miami a playful look, to which he chuckled in response, “so I will run out there super-fast and start coming up with some new ideas! Be back in a minute!”
What Y/N did not realize is that she had left her binder on the baby grand piano Saturday night during her private concert and was so mesmerized after the fact that she left it and did not realize it was not in her possession until just now. She had left the room before any of the boys noticed it sitting there, and her enthusiasm for what she had written peaked Brian, Roger, and Freddie’s interests. The only reason John was not paying attention to the binder at this point is because he was still trying to calm his breathing after seeing you wear the necklace. He was just pacing back and forth in a distance of about five feet, quietly plucking at the strings on his bass.
“I don’t know about you, blokes, but my interest was piqued when she mentioned outfits.”
The boys started to rummage through your papers, not realizing that there was an order to the way you had it set up. They also had no idea what was coming when you walked back into the room.
“I must seriously be having an off day. I must’ve left my binder at home because it isn’t in my car and I know-”
The three men crowded around the top of the baby grand stopped dead in their tracks, let the papers they were holding float back down to the piano, and watched you with intensity. Your eyes were as wide as saucers and some of the color had drained from your face. It was like you had just witnessed murder.
“Wha… why… why are my papers all-all over the place? Why did you go through them without asking me? Who gave you the right?” You breathing was beginning to get erratic, and you were thoroughly scaring all five men who were in the studio with you. “Why… why WHY?” And with that you started hyperventilating, nothing stopping the small streams of tears from cascading down your face. Your chest hurt. Different than the aching you had for John when they were playing. This was painful. You started feeling like you could not breathe, hence the hyperventilating. You felt faint and weak at the knees. What was happening to you? Why of all things did your papers being scattered do… whatever this was? Miami and the three at the piano simply stood completely still, completely unsure of what was happening or what to do. John had never moved faster. He quickly grabbed the sides of both of your shoulders, squeezed them, gently gets you to sit on the floor, and does everything he can to get your breathing back to normal, because even he knew there was no sense in trying to calm you down before you could breathe normally. He continually rubbed your shoulders, telling you “you’re okay, you’re perfect.” Anything that came to mind that he thought would bring your breathing back to normal. He considered it progress when your breathing calmed down enough to allow your body to be wracked with sobs, uncontrollable ones. At least now he felt like he could hold you close to him without your breathing stopping entirely. He held you, one arm snaked around your lower abdomen, hand wide and lightly gripping your side, the other clutching the back of your head to bring it down into the crook of his neck. He wanted you to feel protected. Protected from the evil feelings that were consuming your body at the moment. Eventually your sobs became sniffles, and you felt as though you could muster up the strength to talk to them. They were all looking at you expectantly, and still a little bit fearful.
“You all look, sniff, so scared right now. I’m so so-sorry. I don’t know what this even is but it has taken over my life. My brain and body don’t allow me to do anything with a sense of leisure or, or pleasure anymore. Sniff, everything has to be done in a particular way and if someone screws it up I… I can’t see straight, my hearing starts to go, my heart starts to beat so fast that it hurts, I feel like I’m gonna puke… I don’t know what to do.”
When John was at university, he had a couple of friends who were in the developing field of psychology, and from the few conversations he had overheard while they would study for their exams, he knew something was going on with your brain. And in that moment, right after you rambled on your apology to the boys, his emotions overflowed and he knew he was the only one who could take care of you.
“Lads, I think she needs a break for the day. C’mon love, you’re coming with me. I’m going to get you better, love.”
~
“Um, Deaky? Where exactly are we?” You asked him this because you and your favorite bassist were currently standing in front of a building that was completely unlike any building you had seen in the states or England.
“You’ll see, love. And when we get in there, if you start to freak out, I promise we can leave right away. I do think this will really help you, though.”
John could sense that you were still slightly on edge from the episode you had earlier, and there was a new wave hitting you now that you were in a new, scary environment. He pushed aside any feelings that threatened to resurface from the two “Misfire” performances that were still swirling through his body to take care of you. He reached for your hand to hold and squeeze it until you were separated from him, which he knew was coming, but you did not. You took his hand out of desperation for some grip onto familiarity, because you did not want to slip up again. He walks you over to a desk where a pleasant looking lady is seated, and she begins speaking to you in a sweet, quiet tone.
“Hello, you two. Welcome to the Mind Center of Central England. Did you have an appointment, or are you here for emergency or on-the-spot care?”
“On-the-spot, ma’am. My best friend just had an episode that involved a combination of tears, chest pain, and hyperventilating triggered by the sight of a well-organized binder of hers being scattered across a surface. I had a friend in college talk about places like these where you can administer some tests to see if there was a reason for her reaction, can you do that here?”
“Yes sir, we absolutely can. Let me go get all the paperwork and information you two need, and I will let a specialist know that there is someone here for testing. And sweetheart, I can see that you are tensing up every time I mention tests or doctors. Try to relax, nothing here is meant to hurt or scare you. We are only going to help, I promise, honey.”
“O-okay. Thanks.” She hit the nail on the head about how you were feeling. You had no idea what it was John was trying to accomplish here, and if you were not in a space where you felt like you needed to be respectful, you would probably be giving him an earful right about now. Not five minutes later, the lady from the desk returned with a short stack of papers that you assumed was a combination of information and papers asking you to sign your life away. You knew you were being dramatic, but John had not told you anything about what was about to happen, and frankly, it was kind of bothering you. Not that you were mad at him, but you were just kind of overwhelmed with the whole situation. You did not even know what happened before, and now you were in a place that you had never seen and did not know what was about to happen to you. And just as these thoughts were swimming through your mind you got to the part of the paperwork that stated no one but the patient was allowed in the back with you. John would have to leave your side. This was his idea, why did he have to leave? You and John are going over the paperwork and you’re signing what needs to be signed and initialing what needs to be initialed. The lady was explaining to you what would go down, but you could not focus on her words. You were still daunted by the fact that they were going to force John to some random place in this hospital and you would not know where he was or when you would get to see him again. You cut the lady off mid-explanation of the tests you would be taking to ask her about the question that would not leave your mind.
“Where are you going to take him?”
She gawked at you before returning to her original composure. “I’m… I’m sorry?”
“John. Where will he be while I’m doing this?”
“We have a room for the patient’s guests who decide to stay for the duration of the test, but we don’t typically see that happen. The tests usually take a while, so we encourage the guests to go do something or go home if they aren’t too far from the location.”
Your entire figure slumped at her response. So you would not get to know where John was and he would not get to know where you were? This hardly seemed fair to the patient. The people that are here are clearly here because they have some mental health issue that they want to figure out and get help for. Why tear away the one thing that they know is a safe zone? John could see your demeanor change. He was just as worried about you as you were about leaving him and taking these tests, which you still are not really sure what to expect. He formulated a plan in his mind that he felt would ease your mind a little bit.
“Y/N, love, you and I both know they aren’t going to let me in the room where your tests are done, and I doubt I can stay here. But,” turning to the staff member giving them the instructions, “I think a good plan would be that someone who works here can come tell me when you are about to take your last exam, and they can escort me right to the door that you will be walking out of, so I will be the first and last person you see. Is that okay?” The question was directed at both you and the staff member, who nodded her head in confirmation. The first smile in the last hour crept onto your face.
~
“Alright, I think that is all of the paperwork. Basically, the last thing you need to do is sign this sheet, which essentially says that you acknowledge everything I have told you about this procedure, including what tests are done and how they are administered, and you recognize that the treatments we provide at the end of the session, which will be typed out for you, are only recommendations. We are available to provide any assistance we can on whichever path you choose to take, okay? Do you have any questions for me before I take you back and show John where he needs to go?”
All you did was shake your head and swallow quietly. The staff member told you that she would go make a copy of all the paperwork, one for their records, and one for you to take home, and that it would be ready by the time you were finished, and she was willing to pass it onto John if it gets done before you do. In the meanwhile, she was going to go get the doctor who would be administering your tests. You were told that this process takes a minimum of an hour, but usually for this particular set of tests, it does not take longer than two. John was to be provided with a couple options for what to do with his time, including a movie, television, a book, magazines, the basic waiting-room drill. He would be in a space that was only about four rooms down the hall from where your exam would be taking place, so he really was not too far away, which made you feel a little bit more at ease. Both of your attentions were directed toward the front of the main office where you heard the automatic double doors to the hospital wing open and you saw a man in a very stereotypical white lab coat, followed by what you could only assume was a physicians assistant. That made you nervous. It made John nervous, too, considering the grip he had on your leg tightened. This had stayed a habit between the two of you, despite what happened that one Saturday with the producers. His touch was different, and you never minded the little massage he always gave with his thumb, almost like a nervous tic. The doctor casually walked over to the two of you while looking at the file he was given, probably just what he needed to administer the proper tests.
“Y/N Y/L/N?”
You simply stood and offered the best half-smile you could. John did the same.
“Hello there! My name is Dr. Patrick Bradford. It is nice to meet you! As you may have guessed, I will be helping you through the next approximately two hours of your life, is that alright with you?”
You simply nodded.
“Great! Ms. Y/N, if you could follow my lead, I will escort you back to the area where you and I will spend our time, and Patty here will take John to his lounge room. If I understand correctly, John is to be brought to the space right in front of our test room doors so you can go to him right when this is all done, right?”
You nodded again.
“Perfect. Whatever makes you the most comfortable, dear. Now if you will, the tests will begin shortly, so please follow me. You too, John.”
The four of you walked in a semi-comfortable silence. John had proceeded to hold your hand when you stood up and did not let go until you were in front of the test room. When you were there, he could feel the clamminess that had just formed on your hand and how it was slightly starting to tremble. It broke his heart a little bit to know that he was the reason you were going to go through this, but he knew that in the long run, knowing exactly what caused your episode and figuring out where to go from there was the best plan. John had since turned to you to offer you one last ray of confidence before you walked in. He was going to hug you, that was the original plan, but the doctors told him that there was something with heart rate that needed to stay as consistent as possible for the test. He was not exactly sure why he could not hug you, but he could do what he chose to do anyway. He let go of your hand, which spiked your heart rate anyway, and he used said hand to ruffle your hair a little bit alongside his signature smile.
“You’re going to ace these tests, love.”
~
“Now, I am not up on my psycho-blah-blah, but what in the Queen’s name do you think happened to her?” Freddie spoke loudly through the sandwich Miami had brought back for him.
“Honestly, Fred, I have no idea. She quite freaked me out when she started to hyperventilate.” Brian was the most educated of the bunch, and the fact that he had no idea what to think was slightly concerning for the rest of the boys. “I mean, she has never acted that way in front of us before, and she hasn’t told us about a previous experience like that.”
Roger added in “she did say that this had been happening recently, so maybe her move over here triggered something or another?”
“Oh, don’t be ridiculous, anyone would love moving over here, especially when they get to spend time with us, darling.”
Brian rolled his eyes, “Not the time for jokes, Fred. She could have a serious issue.”
“Look, I think we all clearly care about her well-being. She is a part of this family for the rest of our time as a band, even if she is called back to America to work with one of the bands that she previously worked with.” Miami was trying his hardest to fight back tears thinking about the pain Y/N has endured since being in England, and all the boys noticed. No one said a word. “She has done so much for this band already, and she is going to be a crucial point from this point forward. She took the leap of faith to move across the pond to work with us, that is how much faith she has in your band, that is how much she loves each and every one of us. And who would we be to say that if she comes back and tells us there is something wrong that she is a freak? That is not going to happen, and if it does, I swear to you all-”
“Relax, Beach, that isn’t going to happen.”
“You said it yourself – she’s family.”
~
John had been sitting alone in the lounge room for only about twenty minutes, but it felt like twenty years. The television in the background was playing reruns of some BBC soap that John had seen bits and pieces of through the years, but did not really understand or follow. He told them that he would just flick through the channels and find something on there, but in reality, he told them that because he knew it did not matter which media form he chose. He would not have been paying attention to any of them. His mind was preoccupied, to say the least. He had heard the tests that you would be taking in a small amount of detail, but none of them really made sense. He kept racking his brain trying to remember certain disorders that his psychology friends would talk about, but the only ones coming to mind were the commonly referred to ones, like anxiety and depression. He could not remember specific names for disorders, let alone if he could, what constituted them. He, nor yourself, knew what you were being tested for, and somehow that made it worse. They were, by no means, treating you like a wild, rabid animal who’s only goal in life was to murder everything in your path. They were actually treating you very politely and made sure you were comfortable with every single thing they said and did before moving on. John appreciated that, because he knows how meticulous you are and having details makes your heart swell – you know exactly what you were dealing with, and that allowed you to plan to your hearts content. You loved lists and organization, so the way they were treating you honed directly in to your personality. Twenty-five minutes now. Maybe trying to pay attention to the television will make this go faster. He was so impatient and missed you desperately. He wanted this to be over.
~
John heard the door to the lounge creak open, and he shot out of his chair as fast as a lightning bolt streaking across the sky. He looked at the nurse, Patty, with big, hopeful eyes that she had come in there to tell him exactly what he needed to hear; Y/N was taking her final test and should be out in about five minutes. And that was exactly what she did. John eagerly followed her out of the lounge and she dropped him off against the wall directly across from the test room doors. Just like they had promised to do. He felt like these five minutes were either going to fly by or drag terribly slowly. The prior was true, because it had only felt like about thirty seconds had passed and he saw the double doors open with Y/N and the doctor standing right behind it. He searched for the emotion behind your eyes and face. You simply looked tired. You were not happy, angry, sad, confused, sickened… just a contented, tired expression. He was happy to see that, because it could have been so much worse. When John and Y/N made eye contact, he smiled weakly at you while you started to plod toward him, expression not changing a bit. In a matter of seconds, you had made your way over to him and crashed into his torso. You latched you arms around his back and squeezed so tightly that John almost had trouble breathing. A signature Freddie Mercury bone-crushing hug – she had learned well, he thought. He did not care one bit. In fact, he grabbed you back across the upper back and neck just as tightly to show you that he was there and real. He was there just like he promised he would be, a way of showing you that he was always be there for you without exception. John’s hand that had found a spot on the back of your neck made your way into your hair and he began to lightly rub your scalp like he would your knee, and his chin had settled onto the top of your head. He lightly kisses the top of your head, no fear about the feelings that were manifested inside of him anymore. He had come to accept and embrace them, and held onto hope that one day something could happen. You lightly moved your head as a warning to John that you wanted to move it more so you could look at him.
“John, I want to talk to all of you about this when we get back, in case if jeopardizes my job with you guys.”
“Anything for you, love. Whatever you need or want.” That is what escaped his mouth. In his head though, what he really wanted to tell you was “I’m not letting anything, no matter what, take you away from me… because I’m in love with you.”

Hey all,Just wanted to add a little preface to this post with some context. My colleague James just wrote a massive piece detailing everything we did to drive a ton of sales from a recent webinar.Unfortunately, James is a big-time lurker, and doesn't have the karma to share it with you. But I do!I've read through this a few times myself and I think he's done a really impressive job in giving you a look behind the scenes when it comes to our webinar strategy.I hope you find this useful! And please, feel free to reach out to me here or on social (not sure if I'm allowed to post it, so I'll hold off) if you have any questions about running your own webinars.P.S. There a quite a few (useful!) images in this article. If you don't already have RES, I'd recommend you go get it. :-)So this is the closest thing I've ever had to something worthwhile to put in this community.I'm head of inbound marketing for a tech startup in Vancouver, Canada, and 4 weeks ago our team met to discuss how we planned to meet our growth goals for Q4.One of the main things we talked about was webinars.I've always enjoyed the sound of my own voice, so I thought I'd give it a go.The webinar we ran, after a lot of trial and error, has driven more than 11k in sales, and I wanted to share how we did it. Not sure if /r/Entrepreneur will take the whole piece, so I may have to link at the bottom.Basically, this covers everything we did in the 4 weeks before going live with my webinar, "How to Increase Sales This Black Friday & Cyber Monday."4 weeks before the webinarWe started with a brainstorming session. Here's the questions we asked:1. What will our target market be interested in learning more about?- A webinar on Justin Bieber may get people to register, but those people wouldn't be particularly interested in buying your email software after the fact.2. What subject is related enough to your business that an offer related to it would be desirable?- Your target market may care about sales optimization, but if your business sells Wordpress themes, your post-webinar offer won't get a lot of interest.3. What do I know about? What am I a genuine expert in?- This one goes without saying. You are the primary reason people register. You need to have a demonstrable expertise in your webinar's subject matter to get them in the door.4. Can this topic be visually-represented? Does it have visual elements?- You talking without a slidedeck or screen capture gets boring fast. Choose a topic which engages your attendees visually.5. Will this topic stand out from the crowd in some way?- You're not the only business or marketer running webinars. Tie your topic into a current event, or put a spin on it (original research, perhaps) which helps you stand out from competitors. After throwing a bunch of ideas up on the board, we landed on one which we felt ticked all these boxes: Black Friday sales strategies: timely, interesting to our target market, and delivering strategies which attendees wouldn't have seen before. And, as important as any of those, this topic gives Wishpond the opportunity to show off the value of our software to prospective customers. The next step was planning:For project management, we use Asana. It allows us to see exactly who's responsible for each task, when that task is due, and (most importantly) to leave little notes for each other - some of which are even relevant to the task! Here's what the Black Friday webinar plan looked like:https://www.wishpond.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2018/10/Asana-plan.pngThis calendar dictated our responsibilities for the next few weeks. At this point the Wishpond marketing team separated to divide and conquer.Takeaway:Dividing and conquering is the only way to create a complete webinar campaign. There's so much to do. Get your team together and assign responsibilities, and use Asana (or a similar project management tool) to organize it all.3 Weeks Before Going LiveHere's what we needed to accomplish three weeks out:Step 1: Complete the webinar landing page (needs to be done before we can start sending traffic)Step 2: Send a mailout to existing contactsStep 3: Research and decide on a webinar platformStep 4: Complete the website additions to direct visitors to the webinar landing pageStep 5: Complete and launch Facebook AdsStep 1: Create the webinar landing pageWishpond makes the creation of landing pages easy, and we're lucky enough to work for Wishpond. So building a campaign page for our webinar was relatively straightforward. That said, it does help to have Carlo (a graphic designer before I stole him for the marketing team) on hand…Here's the page he designed:https://www.wishpond.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2018/10/webinar-landing-page.pngThere are a few essentials here, which we made sure to include:The form: You should collect exactly the information you need, and nothing more. More fields will reduce conversion rate. Fewer fields, and you won't be able to personalize your follow-up emails. The countdown timer: Countdown timers increase urgency, and have shown to increase webinar landing page registration rates significantly. Wishpond's editor enables you to drag-and-drop a countdown timer just like this one.The "About your Host" section: You need to prove that you, or whoever is hosting your webinar, is an expert on their subject. "Why should I listen to this person for 40 minutes?" is a pretty serious question you need to answer. The "What you'll learn" section: After all, people need to know exactly what they stand to benefit from your webinar. Don't hide this.Step 2: Send a mailout to existing contactsThis was pretty standard. It looked like this:https://www.wishpond.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2018/10/black-friday-newsletter.pngSince running this webinar, I've read more about incentivized referrals - basically, rewarding people when they share your brand or your promotion.Step 3: Research and decide on a webinar platformWe needed a webinar platform which worked well, looked great, and connected easily with our other tools.I'm part of a few marketing communities on Facebook, and a timely question from one of the other members was super helpful here:https://www.wishpond.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2018/10/webinar-software.pngDemio. It came up several timesSo we looked into it, and absolutely love the platform. It's clean, affordable and the UX is awesome. I won't wax on about it, but yeah, it's a really solid tool. Check them out.Takeaway:You're not alone. If you have a question about anything to do with setting up a webinar (or marketing in general) there are thousands of marketers willing to answer. Check out Quora and Facebook communities.Step 4: Create website additions to drive people to your landing pageThis, like the landing page, is Carlo's wheelhouse.Website additions, like popups and welcome mats, are an awesome way to drive your website traffic to register for your webinar. He created a popup for the Wishpond blog as well as a welcome mat. However, we didn't end up using the welcome mat, as we determined it could hurt our website conversion rates).TakeawayDon't be afraid to kill your darlings. Creating these website additions took Carlo about half an hour. Having a tool like Wishpond makes it super simple, which means it's okay when plans change. If he'd committed a full day to creating and coding a custom welcome mat, we would have had a harder time throwing it in the trash.Step 5: Create and launch Facebook AdsThis was a mistake. We created the ad designs and messaging, created tests and launched nine Facebook ads. Then we sat back and watched. And the cost per registrant just kept going up.We paused the campaign, created new designs and re-launched. But we couldn't make it work. When we couldn't get below $35/registrant, we had to stop. We'd driven 11 registrants for $400.At our customer value, this wasn't profitable. If we're paying $35/registrant, and only 10% of registrants book a demo after the webinar, and our demos have a 25% subscription rate, we'd need a customer value of $1,400 to make it break even. And we don't have that quite yet.TakeawayIt could be our target market (marketers are notoriously expensive), but my thoughts are that you'll get more bang for your buck if you ignore ads and, instead, get webinar registrants from your website traffic or past customers (i.e. popups and newsletter mailouts).Have you made Facebook ads work for webinars in the past? How?2 Weeks Before Going LiveTwo weeks before going live, we needed to wrap up a couple things:Step 1: Compete the slidedeckStep 2: Write the post-webinar email seriesStep 3: Write the reminder emailsStep 1: Complete the slidedeckI use Google Presentation for every presentation I do. The platform is super simple, and I love the ability to share, co-edit, and add seamless transitions.TakeawayThere are a few things to remember when building your webinar slidedeck:- Include less text than you think. Honestly, go back over your slidedeck a few times and remove text. If you need text prompts, write out notes. Don't ask your webinar attendees to read while you talk.- Add transitions. This is especially relevant between paragraphs and lists. Show only one idea at a time.- Make your images as large as possible. You never know what resolution or screen your attendees are going to be on. Don't bank on them being able to see what you're talking about. Err on the side of massive.Step 2: Write the post-webinar email seriesOnce your webinar is over, you'll need to have a strategy in place to turn registrants into customers. We've found (in other campaigns) that a 3 or 4-email series is the best way to do that.Sent automatically, a real person will get involved as soon as someone replies to the email. Other than that it's completely automatic. Here are templates similar to the three emails we wrote:Email 1: Post-webinar essential infoThank you so much for a successful webinar!Even if you didn't attend, I wanted to send you the recording/slidedeck.Exclusive to webinar registrants, I'd like to give you a [X%] discount to [Your Business] until the end of the month. If you have any questions about anything in the webinar, let me know!Email #2: Webinar follow-upWanted to make sure you received my last email? We're offering a [X%] discount exclusively to webinar attendees until the end of the month, and I didn't want you to miss out!Let me know if you have any questions! Email #3: Won't keep bothering you I won't keep bothering you, as I haven't received a response and I don't want to clutter up your inbox.I did want to send you one last thing. This [resource related to the webinar content], which can [concrete positive outcome].I'm always here if you have questions about [webinar content]!Step 3: Write the reminder emailsThe biggest barrier between a profitable webinar strategy and a failed one isn't the design of the page or the content of the webinar, it's attendance. On average, only 25-50% of your webinar registrants (those people you've worked so hard to get) will show up on the day.So I put serious time into writing 4 reminder emails:An auto-responderA "24-hours remaining" emailA "1 hour remaining" emailA "15-minutes remaining" email1. Auto-responder emailImportant webinar informationHi [First_Name]Thanks for registering for [Webinar Name]!Webinar Details:Name of WebinarDate:Time:I'm excited for the big day, and can't wait to share the strategies we've used to [achieve concrete, positive result].To make sure you don't miss it, use this link to add the webinar to your Google calendar:And be sure your friends don't miss it! Share with your network and get a free Starbucks coffee on me, to drink during the webinar! - [Link]Looking forward to it!To add "Add to Google Calendar" links to your emails, check out this url generator.2. A "24-hours remaining" email:Subject Line: Only 24 hours left!Hi [First_Name]Only 24 hours before we get rolling with [Webinar Name]!Can't wait to see you there at [time].If you haven't already, be sure to share the webinar your friends to get a free Starbucks coffee on me, to drink during the webinar! - [Link]Cheers! To send your registrants a free coffee from Starbucks (which is more than worth it, believe me), check out the Starbucks website.3. A "1 hour remaining" email:Subject Line: [Webinar Reminder]: 1 hour left to get your free coffeeHi [First_Name]We're going live with [Webinar Name] in about 55 minutes!Log in to the webinar waiting room using this link:And you still have time to earn that free Starbucks coffee by sharing this link with your friends: .Only by attending will you get my exclusive [secret strategy] which won't be in the recording! Can't wait to see you there! That's a bit of a gamble, that last sentence. Whether you do want to hold back something exclusively for attendees is entirely up to you. My recommendation would be to test it. Do you get more people to attend (and buy from you) if you do hold something back, or do you get more if you record the whole webinar and send it to all your registrants?4. A "15-minutes remaining" email:Subject Line: [Webinar Reminder]: 15 minutes leftHi thereStart settling in!We'll be going live in about 15 minutes.Grab your coffee and log in to the waiting room by clicking this link: .Can't wait to see you there!I will give you some strategies below for how you can still turn registrants into customers, even if they don't attend your webinar.Week of the WebinarThe week of the webinar was all about setup and rehearsal. We also sent another mailout to everyone who hadn't opened the previous one (didn't want to bother people who had already registered), but I've already covered that. This section will cover the essential steps you need to take the week of the webinar and on the day itself.Step 1: RehearsingI scheduled two full-length rehearsal webinars for the Monday and the Wednesday before going live on Thursday morning. I invited (of course) Carlo and Mateus, but also Ali (our CEO) and a few people from sales. I wanted insight from as many different people as possible.Rehearsal of your webinar does several essential things:Allows you to get a feeling for how long you should be talkingAllows you to record yourself, to see where you're weak and where you're strongAllows your colleagues to give notesGives you confidence in your subject matter and your webinar content Rehearsing is huge. Don't even attempt a professional webinar until you've done the entire thing (with recording) at least a couple times.Step 2: ModeratingNot only do moderators give you that extra little "this is professional" kick, they are also super helpful. My colleagues Carlo and Mateus both acted as moderators during my webinar.Moderators do a number of essential things:Moderate: As in, they kick out anyone who's spamming or trolling the comment sectionProvide relevant links: If you mention your Twitter handle, email address or a demo link, your moderators can put it in the comment section for attendees.Collate questions for the Q&A: Rather than you having to scroll through all the comments at the end of the webinar, have your moderators put all the questions in one place. Then you can answer them more smoothly.Top Tip:This is a bit cheeky, but everybody does it. If there's some information you'd really like to share with attendees but you don't want to appear too salesy, have your moderators "ask" some pointed questions as if they were attendees. For instance, in my last webinar I had a total stranger/my colleague ask "How do we book a demo, again?" as well as "What software do you recommend we use to create the website popups you showed us?"Step 3: Giving people time to arriveOnce I went live, I introduced myself and told everyone how excited I was to start the webinar. Then, and this is crucial, I gave attendees a couple minutes to arrive. My webinar started at 10am. I went live at 10:02 (intentionally) and told everyone I'd get rolling at 10:05. This gave latecomers time to enter the webinar.Have you ever turned channels to find a movie which started 10 minutes ago? You've missed the beginning, which is everything. You can spend the next 2 hours wondering "Wait, who's that guy? Is that the main character or the bad guy? What's he trying to do?" What's the chance you'll stick with that movie?Webinars are no different. A big part of keeping people to the end of your webinar is ensuring they're there when you start. Give them some time.Final thoughtsSo there you have it: the exact strategy we used for our most recent webinar."How to Get More Sales This Black Friday and Cyber Monday" drove 524 leads, 115 of them new to Wishpond. Those leads have turned into over $11,000 in sales, and the follow-up emails are still going out.I'm super happy with how this went. It was nerve-wracking and I was sweating the whole time, but it was exhilarating and fun, nonetheless.I really hope you give webinars a shot, and let me know if you do!If you want to see the original post in its fully-formatted glory, just click here: https://blog.wishpond.com/post/115675437738/guide-to-webinars

I had a good week with a bunch of unusual work.
tumblr GDPR
When GDPR hit, tumblr introduced a click-through page for all European Union and European Economic Area users. Unfortunately, this page applies (likely unintentionally) to their old JSON API as well as regular pages, so it broke the current hydrus tumblr downloader.
I have written a simple 'login script' to perform this click-through manually, so if you are an EU/EEA user, please hit network->DEBUG: misc->tumblr click-through. The magic cookie you get lasts a year, so we have plenty of time to come up with a better solution. I understand this click-through event is linked to tumblr logins, so as I roll out a proper login system, we'll have more control here.
I live in the US, so testing for this was not super convenient. It appeared to work for a couple of EU/EEA users, but it may not for certain countries or may suddenly no longer be needed if tumblr changes how or where it applies to their CDN. I don't know enough about the implementation or the law's details to know for sure, so please send your feedback. This--and any other sites that might be forced to switch in the coming weeks--is likely something we'll just have to keep a continuing eye on.
video thumbnails
Videos (but not gif yet) now generate their thumbnails 35% in by default! You can also change the 35% value under options->media. You should see far fewer black-frame thumbnails for your videos now!
This was a highly requested feature. While I had originally planned to wait for a full overhaul of the system that would introduce animated thumbnails and maybe even an 'interestingness' scanner to pick the 'best' frame and discard blank ones entirely, after thinking about it more and talking with several users the past few months, I decided to have a brief look at the actual code and saw I could hack in some simple support. I cannot promise it works for files with unusual/inaccurate frame counts, so please link/send in any video files that error out.
I will eventually write an automated maintenance routine to regenerate all your old videos' thumbnails (and some other stuff that still needs a rescan) in idle time, but if you can't wait, turn on help->advanced mode and right click the selection of files you want to regenerate--there should be an option at the bottom to reparse and rethumbnail them.
downloader stuff
I've added parsers for inkbunny and gelbooru 0.2.0 (by default in the client, that means rule34.xxx, tbib, and xbooru), so they now support drag-and-drop and, for gelbooru, parse a little more info than before.
The multiple watcher now has a pause button, better sorting, and will prefer to accept url drag-and-drops on the current multiple watcher page, if multiple are open but one is currently selected.
The way the client performs its 'Have I seen this URL before?' test is now much more strict. False positives should now be far less common when some booru attaches a bare username/artist twitter/patreon/whatever URL as the source for a file. If you have been hit by this, let me know if it all magically fixes this week if you 'try again' the affected URLs, and if it doesn't, please let me know the details. I am still working on this and will roll out more tools to control url-checking behaviour.
Advanced users: The HTML parsing formula's tag rules can now search for tags that have certain 'string' content, like 'Original image'. This is very helpful in certain situations--check out my new gelbooru 0.2.0 file url content parser if you want to see an example!
siblings and parents logic improve
Much like the video thumbnails above, I decided to hack-in some better sibling and parents logic this week rather than wait for a neater complete overhaul.
So: now, if you create a new parent pair c->p, c will now also get any parents of p, and and parents of them (i.e. grandparents are now added to children recursively). Also, if you add a sibling pair a->b, a and all of a's siblings will get all the parents and grandparents (etc...) of b and b's siblings, and vice versa. Basically, parents now add recursively and all the siblings get all the parents they are supposed to. It isn't perfect yet, but it is better.
And again, I expect to write a maintenance routine in the future to retroactively fill in the gaps here.
Linux stability
I have put a bunch of time into improving Linux stability, which has, on-and-off, been randomly horrible since the wx update. I haven't caught everything, but I think things are better. Please continue to give feedback--whether you notice any difference at all, and if any activity in particular is still likely to cause a crash a few minutes later.
full list
wrote a fix for the tumblr GDPR issue under _network->DEBUG: misc->do tumblr GDPR click-through_. you will also get a popup about this on update
the tumblr downloader will try to detect the GDPR problem and present a similar popup guiding you to the GDPR click-through solution
the client and server now generate video (but not gif yet) thumbnails 35% in by default. the client can now change this percentage value under options->media. this was highly requested and was being put off for a longer rewrite, but I figured out a simple way to hack it in. please let me know if you get failures
on adding a parent, all files with the child tag will now also get all applicable grandparents (with no limit on recursive generations and dealing with accidental loops)
on adding a sibling, all files with any of the siblings will now also get all applicable parents and grandparents for the whole group. a maintenance call to retroactively fill in the sibling/parent gaps that are now filled will also come soon
this logic still does not apply in cross-service situations, which _will_ likely have to wait for a big data/gui overhaul and us figuring out what we actually want here
added a simple pause/play button to the multiple watcher
if the multiple watcher is set to catch watchable url drag and drop events and the current page is a multiple watcher, this current page will catch those new urls (as opposed to the _leftmost_ multiple watcher)
improved some thread unpause logic which was failing to lock pause during 404 status
the multiple watcher should now ignore case when it sorts by subject
added url class and file page parser for inkbunny (so this site is now supported in drag and drop!). it fetches creator tag, some artist-made unnamespaced tags, source time, and md5
added file page parser for gelbooru 0.2.0, which by default works for rule34.xxx, tbib, xbooru but certainly should work for a bunch of others. it fetches source time and source url
html formula parsing rules can now additionally test the tag 'string' using a standard StringMatch object. this greatly helps to parse otherwise indistinguishable 'a' tags that have string 'Original image' and so on
the 'have I seen this url's file before?' pre-import test is now much more strict and will cause fewer accidental false-positive 'already in db'/'deleted' results:
the url pre-import test now does not trust source urls if they do not have a url class
the url pre-import test now no longer trusts urls that are supposed to only be mapped to one file but are actually mapped to multiple
this url pre-import test now treats url-classless original post urls and intended file urls with a special level of trust
urls are now stored in the db in a more powerful and in-future easily searchable way--your db will take a moment to convert to the new format on update
did some prep work for multi-file post urls (like pixiv manga) but did not have time to finish it
the filename tagging options panel (in the 'add tags based on filename' of file import dialog and import folder dialog) now updates its tags/list 0.5s after the last change event, which means typing on a giant list will not cause megalag
improved stability of some client-screen coordinate conversion
misc bmp handling stability improvements
improved some parsing ui stability when example data gets set after the dialog is closed
improved some misc dialog close stability
converted all but one final ui update timer to the new job scheduling system
there are still problems with linux stability--I will continue to work on it
an ugly (but basically harmless) shutdown exception sometimes caused by Animations being a bit slow on deleting their underlying bmps _should_ be fixed
the export files dialog now generates its paths in sort order, meaning (1), (2) de-dupe filename suffixes should now be generated nicely in order
the network domain manager should now always chase API URL links to get the right parser
made some 'the db is broke, let's try to fix it' tag recovery code more forgiving
misc improvements to some media indexing backend, which may fix some unusual session ghost files
fixed the 'sure it is ok to close this importing page' dialog to also veto on a 'cancel' event, rather than just a 'no'
added a guide to database_migration.html on how to move the db from just an HDD to straddle both an SSD and HDD.
cleaned up the help->debug menu a bunch
added run fast/slow memory maintenance calls to help->debug->data actions
misc cleanup
next week
I would like to take the week from the 6th to 13th easy so I can shitpost E3, so I'd like to concentrate on tying up loose ends. I'd love to get pixiv manga pages working along with other multi-page Post URLs like tweets and Artstation posts--I did a little on this this week, but then ten other things like GDPR swamped me.

Super Yoshi?
I had a wonderful idea. I present to you the first chapter of the very first story I ever wrote. I was just about 11 years old when I started writing this. In the summer of 2001, I went on vacation to Montreal, Canada, and just had the idea. This was the start of my writing career - a Yoshi fanfic. I wanted him to be the hero instead of Mario and Luigi. It has LOTS of awkward shit. I don’t mean this first chapter, but the rest of it. I’m willing to post maybe several chapters but not all of it because of the cringe. Maybe one day. Not sure. By awkward shit I mean thinking I was funny when I really wasn’t. I shamelessly stole jokes from Spongebob Squarepants and TV commercials and anything else I soaked in. I wrote this story, as well as all my middle school stories, on paper. A couple years back, I decided to copy every written story on Word to preserve them. So without further ado, here is the very first story I ever wrote in all its glory - grammar mistakes and spelling errors included. Nothing is doctored. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Super Yoshi? An Action Comedy Ch 1 The Idiot Yoshi stood in the middle of the crowded front of the Mushroom Castle.
He wondered why the king ordered everyone to the castle. Suddenly the huge red doors opened and the king came out.
“Silence people silence,” he said. The crowd noise came to a complete stop. “The princess has been captured again but this time she will die if we don’t give Bowser $1,000,000,” the king said.
The crowd gave a gasp.
“Where’s Mario and Luigi?” Yoshi said to himself. They both usually came to a meeting like this. In the middle of the speech Yoshi ran to look for Mario an Luigi.
#
Yoshi found Mario’s Pipe House (from Mario RPG) and knocked on the door. Mario open it and Yoshi said quickly, “Mario Mario! The Princess is,--“ “I know!” Mario said cutting him off. “Then why don’t you go and save her?” Yoshi asked. “Why doesn’t she save her own ass for once!” Mario said angrily. “I’m tired of saving her all the time,” “But she’ll die!” Yoshi said. “Better her than me!” Mario yelled. And with that he shut the door. “There’s one more person,” Yoshi said to himself.
#
“Luigi! Luigi!” Yoshi yelled as he ran to Luigi’s house. “The princess is captured, you want to help?” He ran to the door. There was a paper on it and it said “NO.” “Are you sure?” Yoshi asked. He tore down the paper and there was another one that said “YES.”
“I wonder if Toad can help,” Yoshi thought.
#
Toad’s house was a small mushroom house.
Yoshi knocked on the door. “We don’t want any!” an angry voice yelled. “It’s me, Yoshi,” Yoshi said. Toad opened the door.
“Waddya want?” he asked. “I. . .I want to be a hero and save the princess,” Yoshi stammered.
“And you want me to train you right?” Toad said. Yoshi nodded.
Toad thought for a moment, then said, “No can do. Out of the question,”
When he was about to close the door Yoshi stopped him. “Mario and Luigi are too lazy to do it and if no one saves her she’ll die,” Toad muttered something low and sighed. “Meet me in the courtyard,”
Toad said. “Does that mean I have the job! Oh boy!” Yoshi said jumping up and down.
“Please don’t do that,” Toad said.
#
Yoshi stood alone in the courtyard. There were flower pots, fountains, and a pool.
The back door opened and Toad came out. “Okay I retired earlier, but since you told me all the details I thought I might help,” Toad said. “First I’ll give you a manual about becoming a hero,” He went back in the house and when he came back he held a huge book and dropped it near Yoshi with a loud thud. “There!” he said gasping for air. Yoshi opened to the 1st page out of a billion. “Oh great. No pictures, just the way I like it,” Yoshi said sarcasticly.
“Okay let’s start with the basics,” Toad said. “Level 1, punching and kicking, first we—“ “Excuse me,” Yoshi interrupted. “But how many levels are there?”
“8,000,” Toad answered.
“Oh boy,”
“As I was saying, we start with punching and kicking,” Toad brought a big punching dummy and put it in front of Yoshi. “All right start by punching this dummy,” Toad said.
Yoshi looked at the dummy and stared at it. “Well aren’t you going to punch it?” Toad asked.
“Uh, well I. . .um,” “Toad laughed. “Don’t tell me you don’t how to punch right?”
“Uh. . .no,” Yoshi answered.
Toad stopped laughing. “Oh boy, it’s gonna be a long day,” Toad said.
So then Yoshi trained day after day after day from punching to somersaults. Then one day Yoshi was up to his final test. “Okay Yoshi, this is your last test,” Toad said. “What is it?” Yoshi asked.
“You have to run a 2 mile race with traps along the way in under 5 min., the track starts from my backyard, past the neighborhood and to the Mcdonalds by the Drugstore. I’ll have a lakitu following you with a camera so I can time you all right?” Toad asked.
“Sure,” Yoshi said. Yoshi got ready at the staring line.
“On the count of 3 run,” Toad said. “1. . . .2. . . . 3!” Yoshi ran as fast as he can when suddenly he tripped over a rock causing him to tumble on a pillar with a vase on it. The vase flew in the air and landed on his head. Yoshi stood up and ran around trying to get it of his head. His foot stepped on Toad’s pet cat’s tail, causing it to give a shriek and bit Yoshi’s butt.
“Ahhhhhh!” Yoshi yelled. He ran into the house with the cat stuck on him. Toad followed him when then his wife came out of the house. “Don’t ask,” Toad told her. “Don’t tell,” she said. Suddenly there was a loud crash. Toad’s cat quickly ran out the door. “Oh no,” he said. Toad went into the kitchen where he saw Yoshi on the floor and pieces of the vase and some dishes near him. “Are you okay?” Toad asked.
“What?” Yoshi groaned.
Toad went up to him. “Quick, how many fingers am I holding up?” Toad said holding up 5 fingers.
“Uh. . .8?” Yoshi said dazed.
“That’s close enough, now get up,” Toad said.
Yoshi got up and they both went to the backyard. “Well so much for the final test,” Yoshi said. Toad looked at his watch. “Get ready,” he said.
“For what?”
“You have to go now; Bowser said he’d execute the Princess today at 6:00 pm, think you can do it?” Toad asked.
Yoshi thought for a moment, then said, “Yeah,”
#
They both took the route to Bowser’s castle. Yoshi looked up and saw the huge castle and saw lightning and thunder. “Why is it always thundering only on Bowser’s castle?” he asked. Toad shrugged.
Yoshi gave a heavy sigh, cracked his knuckles and went up to the door. What an idiot. Toad thought. I bet he can’t get through the front door.
There was a sign on the door that said push but Yoshi ignored it and pulled instead.
OF course the door wouldn’t open.
Toad couldn’t take the stupidity anymore.
“Hey mor---I mean Yoshi, look at the sign!” he yelled. Yoshi looked at it. “Oh. . .I knew that,” he said. “You’re gonna wait here right?” he asked.
“Oh sure,” Toad replied. Yoshi went in.
“Sucker,” Toad said. He turned and ran.
The castle was dark and big.
There was a huge rug with Bowser’s face on it and on the wall was his family portraits. Dinosaur statues line up against the the wall. Yoshi slowly walked ahead to the door. It was locked. Then he heard a low growl and swift wind, he turned but nothing was there. Except he noticed one of the statues moved, it was the raptor statue. “Must be my imagination,” he thought. He went back to trying to open the door. Behind him the statue’s eyes glared like fire, picked up a sword and moved toward him.
(Artwork by Willy Abeel - Yes, this was original artwork of my story from way back in 6th grade)
Yoshi turned and ducked just in time to avoid the sword. Yoshi did a tail whip and a round kick but it had no effect. Yoshi ran to another statue with a sword with the raptor behind him slashing the sword crazily. Yoshi grabbed the sword and blocked the attack. Yoshi and the raptor slashed and blocked attacks with the swords until Yoshi stabbed it into it’s stomach and pulled the sword upward, causing the raptor to split in two. He heard footsteps behind him and he knew. He turned and cut the next raptor in two with only it’s legs running around bumping into walls. For a moment there was silence. Until all the statues came alive armed with swords and spiked chain balls. Yoshi slashed, cut, and did somersaults while fighting the statues. He loss track of how many he killed. There were so many. One of was in front and back of him. The front one swung his sword. Yoshi ducked and it hit the one behind him. Yoshi stood and beheaded the raptor. Suddenly something hit him in the back causing him to fall to the ground.
He saw the spiked ball come down. He rolled over and it missed.
The raptor turned to him. Yoshi was about to stand when he saw the wepon in front of him. He swung the sword causing the chain to cut. The raptor looked at his broken weapon puzzled when Yoshi stabbed the sword in it’s face causing it to crumble into pieces. There were no more statues. Yoshi was ready to strike at anything that moved. Suddenly the lights went out, then the torches. Yoshi panted in the pitch black room. He went to wipe the sweat on his forehead when he noticed it was blood. It was quiet. . .too quiet.
Yoshi could almost hear his heartbeat.
Behind him a cloud of purple dust came out of a vent forming into a dragon. The dragon flew and hit Yoshi on the back with a sharp blow. He tumbled into the door. He quickly stood and slashed part of the dragon’s body. He roared and belched out a ton of fire at Yoshi. Yoshi retreated dodging the fire. He threw his sword as it flew pass the dragon and cut both it’s ears. The dragon roared in pain. Yoshi ran to get his sword and he stabbed it under the dragon. The dragon was filled with rage and swung his claws and scratched Yoshi’s face. Then the dragon flew in the air and disappeared.
Yoshi looked up, wondering if he would come again. Suddenly the chandilers fell to the ground and part of the ceiling fell. Yoshi quickly ran to the door as all the rocks and lamps fell behind him. He looked up when the dragon flew down from the sky and Yoshi threw his sword at the dragon’s mouth. Both the dragon and the sword stood in mid-air. Then it exploded into a million pieces. The pieces where coins. Yoshi gathered as many as he could. He saw a brown bag at the corner of the room. He took it and put all the coins in. The only thing was now is he didn’t have a sword. Then the torches lit up and the door opened, leading into the next room.

In need of a good dental insurance plan in South Florida.
I desperately need braces but I can't afford them, neither can my parents. I have two teeth that I call my shark teeth because they grew in back of my normal line of teeth. One on the top, and one on the bottom. So it bothers the hell out of my tongue and I can't stand it anymore. I'm always getting those annoying sore taste buds, like one would get if they bite their tongue, on my tongue because one of my shark teeth is my fang so it hurts like hell. I need to fix my teeth but I'll need a good dental insurance plan that covers a big percentage of the cost of my braces. And it cant be just a dental discount plan, those on average only discount 25% and I need more than that. I'm 17, I live with my parents and they'll be paying for it, but it will only be a single plan, not a family plan. I live in South Florida. So if anyone can give me the name of a great insurance plan, then you'll be a miracle worker. Thank you.""

Insurance for my baby?
I am researching insurance options for my baby. The baby will be born in few months. I know that the baby will be insured 30 days after he is born. This is my question. If I have to have an individual plan for the baby, I am looking only for Blue Cross or Blue Shield of California (PPO only). If you have any suggestions, please share. Thank you""
Is there an affordable private insurance provider that will cover prescription medicine so I can go to school?

My college has a reasonably priced insurance plan but it doesn't cover prescription medications. Remicade is considered a prescription drug, which means that the plan won't cover my remicade treatments which cost about $4,000 every eight weeks. I realize I could get a job that has benefits, but I really would like to get a college degree. Is there any way I can go to college and still have the health coverage I need to pay for my prescription medicines?""
Is it a legal requirement to carry your car insurance documentation at all times?
Okay, this is the second time i've asked a question in the last two days but this forum is really interesting and gets me thinking. While I was at University, I was driving innocently along when I realized I didn't have my lights on. At that PRECISE MOMENT, I saw blue flashing lights behind me and the police pulled me over. He asked ''Do you know why I pulled you over?'' and I said 'Yes sorry! I didn't have my lights on''. He then proceeded to put me in the back of his police car and ask me questions such as name, address, telephone number, mobile telephone number, height, weight etc.. which I believed to be innocent questions.. but then the questions kept going down a quite frankly rediculous route and he asked me ''hair colour, eye colour, what are you wearing?, where are you going? why are you going there? etc etc and I started to wonder if he was taking the mick. Then after all that he asked for my car insurance documentation and driving lisence and I said I didn't have any on me except my lisence. He looked at my lisence, wrote down some information and gave it back to me. He then said ''do you realize it is an offence not to carry your car insurance documents with you when asked to produce them at the roadside?''. Again I apologized and said that I had no idea that this was the case. He then gave me five days to produce my photo and counterpart driving lisence and car insurance documents at the local police station or I would be arrested for failing to produce documents on demand. He then asked me to provide a testimony which would be read in court if I didn't produce the documents and so I said ''I'm terribly sorry for any inconvenience''. He then let me out. Suffice to say, the next day I took my documents to the police station for inspection. Is this standard proceedure?""

Does $152 per month for my car insurance sounds right?
Okay, so here's the thing. I'm 18 years old (I know, it greatly affects my age group that I'm in) and my car insurance is $152 a month. But, I'm only on liability? I have to pay over $150 a month just for liability on my car insurance? I live in Wisconsin by the way too. It just all doesn't quite make sense to me..my mom quoted me another price but the other price was pushing $200 a month. I'm just really sickened by all of this. Please let me know what you think! Thanks!""

Why has my car insurance gone up?
My question is about my car insurance renewal quote. I got my renewal quote from esure, last year I paid 357 with 7 years no claim discount, and with full uk licence held for just under 4 years. In whole year I haven't made any claim, same car, same address, still the new quote I got is 627. I am almost shocked. Last year also I had same problem, my renewal quote was about 40-50 pounds higher. I checked for new quote with different insurers but not getting anything cheaper than 460, still way above what I paid last year. Does anyone know why does it go up? I remember last time when I spoke to call centre guy, he told me that it depends on number of claims in your area etc. Is that true? Also somewhere I read the article that insurance companies are paying more than what they collect as a premium and they are raising premiums by up to 20% but still in my case the premium is almost double. If anyone has any knowledge on how this industry works please let me know. Any help is appreciated. Thanks""

Should I shop for better car insurance rates?
I am looking to buy a new car. It is a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire. I live in Wisconsin, am 29, and have an excellent driving record. I need full coverage, and called my insurance agent (Progressive- which I've been with for over 12 years) and they said, for an average, about $500 every 6 months. Is this a little high or is this about average. Are there any other car insurance companies that might offer better rates?""

Why is car insurance so higher in UK than other countries?
In my home country, I did not even think about car insurance cost when I bought a car. It was just a small amount of money. In UK, when I try to buy a cheap secondhand car, the insurance cost higher than the car price. 2002 Nissan Primera cost 900 pounds while insurance quoted me 1169 pounds for that car. Why insurance cost more than the car price? I am not intending to claim by knowing the amount of excess money (higher than the car price) I have to pay in the first place if I want to claim.""

Maintaining car insurance for DMV (lawyers chime in)?
I have a bit of a tricky situation that I can't get a clear answer online. My question is I have misdemeanor on my driving record that is not yet 3 years old. I have moved out of the US for awhile but will be back and some point in the future. I have no use for my current car insurance and as I will be relying on public transportation for everything. For California DMV purposes, do I need to keep my insurance policy up or is it ok that I cancel my policy since I will be off US roads (all roads in general)? I have read a stipulation that requires 3 years uninterrupted SR-22 coverage or something of the like. I would like to get rid of this monthly charge that I'm getting nothing out of but my worry is that negatively impact my driving record at the DMV for not fulfilling insurance obligations. Thank you.""
