I haven't written anything in a long time, but I felt a stab of inspiration last night that wouldn't leave me alone until I got it out of my system. ✒ So here's a short piece inspired by every old abandoned house you've ever walked past. What might it say, if you'd take a moment to listen?

~ 📖 𝐀 𝐒𝐰𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐲 📖 ~

I'd known happiness once. 

When my timbers were freshly hewn and my paint but barely dried, the sharp spice of my glossy lacquered panels filled these rooms. Love was everywhere you looked, from the painstakingly carved ridges of my cherry wood mantle, to the expertly hung gable that sat atop my crown. My pipes pulsed with life, even in the coldest of winters, bringing water and warmth where it was needed most. Children would race through my halls, the rumbling of their little feet sending shivers through my floorboards. There were fights that woke the morning birds. Kisses stolen under window sills. Muffled tears that were shared only with pillows. 

And there was music. I loved their music; so lively, reverberating through my walls as laughter rang out into the night. I've sheltered frightened mothers as they brought their babes into this world, and caught their last dying breath as it drifted out my windows. I've seen sorrow. I've seen fear. But through it all, there was life.

Yes, I'd known happiness. 

The days grew quieter. I felt dust settle in places that had once been dutifully swept. My paint peeled. My shingles rotted. The tiniest of life forms scuttled through my cabinets and across my floors, treading in dark rooms no one else entered. And yet, I was happy. Peaceful nights spent in the warmth of my firelight, long days on the porch, soaking in the sun. A gentle voice, speaking in hushed tones to a loved one. That soft heartbeat, growing weaker and weaker. Quiet tears. I would be there for them, even as my foundation crumbled into dust, even if no one recognized my face. They were my family, and I their home.

I'd known happiness. 

It became quiet. But I was used to that, the glittering lights and parties ending long ago. Children no longer ran down my hallways. But I did not mind. I had my family, and that was all that mattered.

How long had it been quiet?

My pipes grew cold. Ivy clung and clawed its way up my siding, sprouting over the filth and my rot. My bowels were heavy with damp, curtains a banquet only for moths. 

The front door rattled. Was it the tell-tale jangle of keys, or just an angry gust of wind? Surely they'd be back soon. And it was my job to be here, waiting for them.

I'd known…

A window shattered, then another. Rocks clattered against the dust-coated banister, tumbling down the stairs like a drunken sailor. Young ones entered, stamping their feet to remove the snow from their heavy boots. Hot breath billowed forth from their blue lips as their eyes wandered over the peeling wallpaper and cobweb strewn chandelier. The settees stood motionless, encased in plastic like space-age mummies ready to be brought back to life.

Here. 

They were here, they were back. And I'd waited, here, for them, through the wind and the rain and the snow and all those years, for them-

I felt a tickle along my walls, the angry hiss of air preceding the paint as it came blasting out of the small metal cans held in their hands. They joked amongst each other, drawing and writing colorful abstractions with reckless abandon. They prowled through my parlor. Cavorted through my kitchen. The silence was broken by the crashing of furniture long left abandoned. Tiny mammals scurried away in fright at the storm that had come barreling through, disturbing their peace. 

But I did not mind. I drank in their laughter, relished in their leering as they gazed up at my rafters with disdain. Each shattered picture frame shattered the silence, a honeyed wine for my parched senses. 

I was drunk off of it, a lost soul finding an untapped barrel of limitless potential. They were here, and there was joy. No more quiet, no more loneliness-

And then...

They were gone.

Leaves whispered across my cherry floorboards, blown in through the holes they left behind. 

A crow cawed, somewhere in the old oak tree out back.

Quiet. 

A strip of crown molding peeled, dropping to the floor. Short nails laid exposed, like sharp fangs glittering in the moonlight as they awaited their hapless prey. There was a yelp from the old woman that had started sleeping in the drawing room, her bare feet falling prey to their bite as her drunken mutterings carried her hobbling off into the night. 

Quiet.

Chunks of plaster flaked away, landing like clumps of dandruff in the foyer. Three men parked their car in the yard, driving carelessly across the overgrown patches of weeds. Their crowbars squealed like angry pigs, prying loose brass fixtures and ripping out copper pipes, gutting me of what little luster I had left. The clawfoot tub came waddling awkwardly down the stairs, as it too left for good. And yet, I felt a flutter of excitement in these old timbers, ready to offer them a roof to rest under, a warm shelter from the cold, a place to lay their weary heads-

And then, they were gone.

Once...

The harsh thumping of hammers rang out, securing plywood over my windows and over my doors, like nails driven into a coffin. Thump. Thump. Thump. My pulse, sluggish. Why? A stake pierced into the soft flesh of the old rose garden out front, where the bird feeder once stood. A sign was erected in its place. 

"Keep out?"

Please, come inside. 

Just a moment, that's all I'd ask for. Come inside and drink some tea, play one of those silly games, read a book. The squirrels have started using them for their nests, but I'm sure there must be some good pages left. 

Or break me. I wouldn't even mind: I still have some pieces left. There's that ivory inlaid nightstand in the parlor, or how about the silver mirror in the attic? They haven't taken all of me. So come inside? Please? 

Just don't stay out there, don't walk away, don't leave me in the dark-

Years passed. 

Quiet.

Years of quiet. Years of emptiness. Years...alone. 

Waiting. Hoping. 

Rotting. 

Fading away.

Happiness…

I write my MC as gender neutral unless otherwise specified by a request. (Please let me know of I mess it up when I am writing and I will fix it).

Unless the ask specifies a specific type of fic (headcannon, imagine, or blurb) I will write it in what I think fits the request best.

I do not plan to write full NSFW content. I might hint at the action and this is what the tag is there for. Depending on the request I might do NSFW, just depends how I feel, but under no circumstances will I be writing NSFW for Luke or Klee. They are Baby.

I can refuse any request I see fit, whether it is becuase I don't feel comfortable writing it or because I don't understand what is asked.

I will answer asks when I feel motivated to write for them. So they may not be answered in the order they are received.

Currently there is nothing that is too triggering for me to write, so send it in and I will let you know if I am up for it!

One more thing I would like to add is my description of my types of writing so people understand the difference.

💭 Imagines - imagines are going to be fully written out fics. These will probably take the longest for me to write because I will need to think of a plot and good dialogue.

💡 Headcannons - headcannons are usually bulleted lists that sometimes include dialogue. This is usually a general description of how I think the characters would act/react to a situation, person, thing, etc.

✒ Blurbs - blurbs are by far the easiest and quickest to write. These are basically just me sitting down for a few minutes and writing a quick scenario in one sitting.

You can request characters, types of fic, or genre using the emojis I chose or you can write them out. Whichever makes you feel comfortable!

3. favorite line/scene you wrote this year

There are many to choose from but I'll mention the end scene of don't twist my arm, don't hold your breath.

I like how it gives the story the final twist that makes everything, the title phrase included, fall neatly in place. I also like this detail:

Rod stretched himself on the other side of the bed and picked up a tablet from the nightstand. He hated how the charts that Tulsky regularly sent him were impossible to zoom in enough on the device; especially if he was tired, the figures would go blurry, and he had to move the screen back and forth in search of a distance where the text would appear clearer.

Sebastian ended his call and crawled to his side.

"I think you should get reading glasses," he said, nuzzling the plush fabric of Rod's robe with his nose. 

Age and eyesight, huh?

14. a fic you didn’t expect to write

1000 x 1000! Ducks? The only thing that Getzlaf used to mean to me was that he was the guy who almost fought Teuvo and said he'd kill him, and tried to get his hands on Sepe too.

25. a fic you read this year you would recommend everyone read

I want to highlight two from the jockey rpf fandom:

Positions by klingell and selfish prayers (i can't get enough) by jalebibaby.

Positions is a multi-chapter wip that has such a promising beginning that I really want to see it continued! Great relationship dynamics between justin/seb and teuvo/seb in a fantasy royalty AU setting.

Selfish prayers is safe for all, a short lovely piece based on Kalevala.

And oh, a really ambitious football rpf multi-chapter wip, Hunger Games AU táctica y estrategia by ibarbourou. I haven't even read The books but I love a good dark story with real plot, well-painted characters, big themes and solid world-building.

All these are hiddem gems that deserve all the readers and love.

How many asks do you receive daily? And do you ever ignore certain asks? What kind of questions do you prefer not to answer? And what kind of questions do you like receiving? As an author, how do you feel about readers connecting with you through this platform? Do you like it when readers request stuff from you? Or do you think it's a burden to try and squeeze them into your stories? Sorry, I'm just so curious! Everyone is different so I want to know how you respond to these questions. ✒📖

Hey!

I receive between like 0-6 ish asks a day, it averages around three/four a day. I try not to let them sit in my inbox for too long, I mostly answer them when I'm procrastinating at work (like I am now) or just before bed.

I don't ignore asks, I mean I haven't so far! I can't think of anything that I'd refuse to answer beyond like, my card details and my real name etc. I don't mind answering certain personal questions about myself, however!

As for questions, I don't really mind! I know I must sound like a proper wetwipe but I really enjoy interacting with people who read my stories. I really appreciate all the feedback and the love (there hasn't been any hate yet!) So anything is welcome really. I really really do LOVE when people tell me the parts of the chapters that they liked. But anyway, if there is a question I don't appreciate then I'd probably just say! For now, it's free game!

As for requests, I really do appreciate them too. I think I've said this before, but readers' prompts have basically shaped quite a few of the stories/chapters so I'd be lost without them! Sometimes requests don't always align with my own kinks and fetishes so I sometimes find those a bit more difficult to write well (my best writing comes with the sex/bdsm I've experienced or stuff that I find hot but would never want to try irl). I do try and include the requests that don't always tickle my (((clit))) but it may take a backseat to other requests I find more titillating, unfortunately.

Don't apologise for asking! It's nice to know that people are interested in my boundaries (I don't really have many as a Libra Rising) but thank you anyway!
