Two Years!

It's been two years ever since I started writing on Tumblr, and while there were plenty of times I was thinking I wasn't going to be able to keep up, I'm still here!

Thank you to the readers, you keep my blog alive; the writers, who always inspire me in more ways than they know; the people who commission and tip most especially because they help me with my income; and of course, you!

Today is my 1 year Writerversary!

I’ve been sharing my writing publicly on AO3 for a whole year! Which is absolutely insane to warp my head around! In the last year I have achieved so much and I honestly don’t think I could have done it without the friends I’ve made because of my writing!

Before I started sharing my writing, I was alone, with only immediate family to socialise with, but since posting my writing on Tumblr and AO3 I have made so many friends! And it’s because of those friendships that I kept writing and kept sharing!

I know I haven’t been as active over the last few months with writing, but I plan to change that, my goal is to get back to regularly posting stories, whether it’s part of one of my long fics (Far Horizons & Ancient Stones, The Blood Prophecy, A Tall Glass of Red Wine or Guard and Glaive) or one of my Bad Things Happen Bingo Prompts, a monthly writing event or just a random One Shot story.

It is my hope that I am able to share some sort of writing at least once a week because it is my goal in celebration of this milestone that I will be able to balance my time better in the future, which has always been a personal problem for me!

One Year of 0cta9on

Hello everyone! :]

Today marks exactly a year since I debuted as a writer! In an ideal world, I would’ve had some crazy story planned for today, but my current circumstances didn’t allow for that, so enjoy this semi-sappy yap session instead :>

I started writing during a particularly low point in my life where my mental health was in the gutters and I had an insane amount of free time. I’ve always liked imagining stories in my head, so the next obvious step was to start writing those stories down. Hence, 0cta9on was born :]

Channeling my energy into something creative provided me with a distraction from all the things that weighed on my mind and become a source of joy for me. While I know I’m not the best or most well-known writer in this community, seeing even a single comment on my work fills me with such an unexplainable amount of joy. To know that there’s people out there that enjoy the silly little stories I put out is genuinely insane in the best way possible <3

Since I’m mainly a fluff writer, I wasn’t sure what other writers in this community would think of me. But my worries were almost immediately quelled when I first joined the writer discord and became friends with a bunch of amazingly talented writers. Recap of my past year of writing:

Wrote 8 chapters of Unlikely Duet, my cute little slice-of-life romance series starring best girl, Minji <3 Chapter 8 is the longest piece I’ve written so far at +18k words!

First Snow was the first fluff one shot I made. Rough around the edges, but we all start somewhere.

Beach Day and Good Idea were my first attempts at writing smut and they are… alright, I guess :> Part of me wants to go back and revise them, but I barely have the time and motivation to work on new drafts ;[

Masterpiece is still probably my favorite fluff one shot I’ve written so far, and while it’s not the best written by any means, I still really like how it turned out :]

FFF2+4 and Train Ride to Heaven for me marked the start of when I started becoming more comfortable writing smut. I’m still not that great, but it’s fun and I think that’s all that counts for me :]

Stuck with You was the first commission I ever did! Writing someone else’s idea is always difficult, but I’m glad the buyer liked the final product :]

Stroke of Luck was the first time I ever wrote a threesome. I think it went okay :>

Wrote And We Danced and Sunscreen for a fun prompt challenge hosted in the writer’s discord (You can thank @mintwithchoco and @msafterhours for these <3). The latter ended up turning into a quaint little mini series :]

Lessons was my second ever commission and my first attempt at femdom. While femdom isn’t really my thing, it was a fun challenge writing about something new and I really like the little gimmick I threw in there :]

Wrote 15 shorts from ideas submitted by you guys! Some of my favorite stories I’ve written have been shorts and they’re always nice when I’m low on ideas :]

Date of first fic posted: 17 Sept, 2020 (let’s get married, 3,898 words) - happy anniversary me!

Top multi-chapter fic: ‘til i’m with you then, i’m with you there (69,086 words) my most recent finished fic, the one with the most words, and the one i’ve put the most effort into! it grew so much over the 11 weeks i posted it and i’ve already got more ideas in the works- i love this little universe i’ve created and all the people that have helped me cultivate it into something beautiful! ironic how my top two works in word count are both royalty related- i think i have a calling.

Top one-shot: nothing’s perfect, i’m hoping i’ll do (1, 379 words) this one got super popular out of nowhere- like i know everyone loves a good teacher au for tma but holy COW did this one go off the charts with its popularity- it’s almost my most kudos’d fic, just under 160 rn! absolutely incredible tbh, i didn’t even think it was that good when i posted it but HELL i’m proud of it now and i’m glad so many others like it too :)

Fic you’re most proud of: you’ll leave me lonely at best (4, 358 words) god this one is so good to me? idk what it is about the angst in this one but god fucking damn i’ll go back and read it whenever i need just a good solid cry like- damn what did i drink that day to make my angst charts off the shit? fuck!

I’m 8 in writer years!

I missed my author/writerversary again. June 18th, 2011 I had my first piece published for The St. Louis Examiner in my very own column that would last for 6 months until I got overwhelmed by other opportunities and had to move on. 

June is always crazy busy, but I had to stop and take a moment to thank every single person who has encouraged me throughout the years. I’ve been getting paid to write for almost a decade now and my work is better than it has ever been. 

I still have a long way to go and never wish to stop learning. Mentoring newbies and getting back to panels, workshops, and maybe even a new tour is my aim for 2020.
