2023 Writer Year-In-Review
Hi, I’m RaisedonRadio & FortressofmyPast on AO3 and FF.net. This is an on-going tradition since 2015. Check out my past year-end posts: 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015.
Tagging a few, but if you come across this, consider it an open tag! You’re welcome to tag me back, I’d love to read it!
@writercorianarose @shesailsships @talesofsorrowandofruin @azdesertwillow @goneahead @littlemissfandomworld @dreams-of-kalopsia @halleyuhm
Big change for me compared to last year—in addition to NaNoWriMo, I actually posted fanfics! I tried to add some new questions to this year’s edition, I hope they might even move out of my tiny circle.
Total Word Counts: 51,920 for 2023 NaNoWriMo 15,570 on 2022 NaNoWriMo project 19,193 for July 2023 Camp NaNoWriMo (mostly fanfics) 28,310 in published fanfics (this number is overlapping with camp nano, I wasn’t paying attention, so I’m not going to add everything together)
Total Number Of Completed Works: 10 Total Number of WIPS worked on this year: 10 or so How Many WIPs do you still have: 23
Looking back, did you write more than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d expected? I wrote way more than expected! I seriously didn’t think I would do NaNoWriMo again. And I published ten fics! That’s ten more than last year!
Did you take any writing risks this year? The NaNoWriMo project was definitely a risk for me. I basically had an idea and no outline. It was quite a challenge to my perfectionism issues—I had to basically never reread anything and just keep going, fully aware that I can better foreshadow the ideas that came up halfway through in the next rewrite.
Biggest Surprise: I wrote for NaNoWriMo again, which I was pretty sure wouldn't happen lol, and hit the word count, all through discovery writing, and having very little idea where I was going with it.
Biggest Disappointment: I dropped that above mentioned project the moment November ended! I can tell it has potential, hidden in there. I will definitely return to it.
Do you have any writing goals for the new year? I’d love to at least finish the first draft of the 2023 NaNoWriMo project, bringing it to a tentative end so I can actually reread it and go from there. And keep writing fanfic, and maybe even work on the 2022 nanowrimo project…
Fanfiction Questions Below! (if you don’t write fanfiction feel free to skip or rework the questions for your original works.)
Fandoms I’ve written in this year: I wrote fics for 7 different fandoms! For the following kdramas: Island, Tale of the Nine Tailed, Memorist, Royal Secret Agent, W: Two Worlds, May I Help You?, and a little Korean Web drama called Handmade Love.
Your most popular story of the year? That would be Besides You with 327 hits and 47 kudos. However Superhero got the most comment interaction with 4!
The story that was easiest/or most fun to write: I Think He Knows was fun to write! I do just love brooding with a heart of gold formerly immortal male leads.
Hardest story to write: Rescue Me, Superhero, Restore, and Prayers & Promises were four works that I had left for dead, and came back and found them to be basically finished and just needed proofreading. (So just in case anyone wondered how I turned out three of those in like two days: they were actually done and I was hellbent on getting them out of my WIPs list)
Your sweetest story: That would definitely be Superhero. I altered my normal narrative style to better fit the child’s character, and I was really pleased with how it turned out.
Your saddest scene: I feel like I hit a lot of angst this year, but nothing really sad?
The sexiest moment you’ve written this year? *coughs* I wrote five pieces of smut. (Half of my fanfics were smut this year?!) Umm, I’m torn between Beside You and Don’t Blame Me? But also Never Be the Same and Take On Me???
Your favorite tag: (whether you use it the most or just something witty/perfect for the story) My brother announced to me that he reads all my tags (he was trying to embarrass me about one of my smut pieces) so I did a shout out to him in the next fic. He saw it within the day, I was actually impressed.
Most unintentionally telling story: (have you accidentally or purposefully exposed a detail about yourself?) Religious guilt seems to be a reoccurring tag this year. In all seriousness, not quite sure why, but yet it kinda makes sense? (its complicated lmao) And for some reason not one, but two fics ended with marriage proposals?! (I’m so single.)
Are any of your fics named after/heavily inspired by music? I’m RaisedonRadio and it would be concerning if—checks list—less than 8 of the 10 fics weren’t named after songs, haha! (I’m actually just really bad at naming fics…)
Good To You and Besides You are both songs by the band Marianas Trench, and are heavily inspired by the songs. Rescue Me is by OneRepublic, one of those more vibes than lyrics inspired. I Think He Knows by Taylor Swift was definitely on repeat for that fic, as well as Don't Blame Me. (Poems), Prayers, and Promises was more a steal the name of the song by John Denver, for some reason I think Cold by Corbyn was on repeat when writing that one. Take On Me was named more for the similarities between the MV and the series! Never Be The Same was for the vibes of the song by Camila Cabello but not really the lyrics.
What’s your own favorite story of the year? Maybe it’s cheating but I’m not sure if I can really choose? I know it’s not a common writer sentiment but I really do like them all for different reasons.
Like I churned out Good To You and Besides You within ten days of each other in July, after not writing any fanfic basically for a year and a half.
And then I pulled Rescue Me out of the dead drafts pile and made myself work on more description.
I Think He Knows was my first foray into a brand new fandom.
Don’t Blame Me is one of my rare canon divergence fics.
Restore was another dead draft that I found to be mostly complete, and decide to release into the world even if I knew there was so much more I could have done with it.
Prayers and Promises was not only another new fandom, but for some reason, I decided to write for a side character. It’s still sitting on just 1 hit and that makes it all the better that I really wrote it for myself.
Superhero was out of my comfort zone of writing for a kid’s perspective and I was so happy with how it turned out.
Take On Me was a draft sitting at less than 1k words and I challenged myself to finish it before the new year, and got it done in two days.
And then, to finish it all off with the intense desire to have ten fics under the belt for 2023, I wrote Never Be The Same in less than two days for the last drama I had watched, and the speed that the last two fics were actually finished was a huge change for me.
Fanfiction risks you took this year? I wrote fanfic for not one, but two fandoms that I had to create the first tags for on AO3! Also, as I started to slip into just writing for kdramas this year, I’ve basically become my own proofreader and editor at this point. Any mistakes are my own, lol.
My favorite part of fandom this year: That would be getting two kudos and a comment on I Think He Knows, one of the fics that is the first in its fandom tag. To actually connect with more fans of such a tiny project was so cool!
Thanks for reading and here’s to next year!

2022 Writer Year-in-Review
Thanks for tagging me, @pluttskutt! I hope you had a nice holiday season with loved ones nearby <3
Total Number of Completed Works: 3 fanfics and 1 short story
Total Number of WIPs Worked on This Year: Oh gosh. I count 24. Yes, that’s right, I have a that disease where I think oh that can be a short one-shot and then it isn’t
WIPs Neglected This Year: The majority of that 24
Fandoms I’ve Written In: Six of Crows, Newsies the musical, Marvel
Did You Write More Than You Thought You Would This Year, Less, Or About What You’d Expected?: Overall, more! Every year I feel like I find out more about ways I work best, and that’s always exciting! :D
Did You Take Any Writing Risks This Year?: I shared my original short story with some close friends and family, which was the first time I’d really shown any of my work to anyone, and I got lots of lovely feedback, which was wonderful :)
Do You Have Any Writing Goals For The New Year?: I would like to finish and post more fics (more than 3 a year which is how it’s been previously), get some more serious work on the original wips, and get used to sharing more of my work! Also continue to train myself to write every day...
Biggest Disappointment: Editing is hard and sometimes I don’t know how to fix the story’s biggest problems
Biggest Surprise: Maybe my running boys wip or the Six of Crows fic that sprouted from nowhere!
Most Popular Story Of The Year: Over here on the writeblr, it’s The Invisible Girl, as it should be ;) Over on the fanfiction side, I think it’d have to be my Winter Solider storyteller fic 😁
What’s Your Own Favourite Story Of The Year?: That’s so hard! They’re all my babies. I’d say it’s between Invisible Girl and the running boys wip
Story Of Mine Most Under-Appreciated By The Universe, In My Opinion: Six of Crows fic is kinda ignored right now, but that’s cool
Most Fun Story To Write: Stars and Ships is pretty self indulgent and a chance for me to try out bad jokes...I’m also working on several new fic ideas right now, and they’re a blast and a half!
Most Unintentional Story: The running boys one was born from a long walk, and also SOC fic because that came out of nowhere and was done in a week or something. (?) Also I may just say here that I was hit over the head by a new OC a few days ago and he’s the new love of my life and a magician being framed for murder!
My Favourite Part Of Fandom This Year: Everyone still creating and sharing and pumping each other up, despite despite despite. There are so many lovely people here, thank you all for making this year so much better! <333
Tags for anyone who wants to share, and also @sleepyowlwrites @winterandwords @indecentpause @moondust-bard @aohendo @ashen-crest @asher-orion-writes @chayscribbles @ashirisu

Not gonna lie, I'm super excited about the upcoming One Piece live action series! It's out Aug 31 on Netflix. I actually think it's gonna be good! 🤞🤞🤞
#reminder that the strike has NOT called for a boycott from viewers!#we want to show that we want more of this show and that Netflix has to pay their writers properly if they want to keep profiting from it#don't forget: the continuation of a popular show is a bargaining chip for the writers#one piece#one piece live action#monkey d. luffy#roronoa zoro#nami#usopp#sanji#when I first heard about the LA years ago I thought they were crazy#manga live actions are never good and OP is basically unfilmable#but when the strawhat cast was revealed I sat up straight and started paying attention#they were all spot on! absolutely unheard of in a live action!#and everything I've seen and heard about it since has just seemed so promising#early reviews are starting to come out and they're all positive#guys I think they did it#I think... Netflix actually made a good live action adaptation??#and of OP of all thing?!?!#(I won't be able to watch it until Sunday though so I'm gonna have to stay off the internet completely to avoid spoilers! Fanfiction Year in Review 2023
I fill this out every year. It’s become a bit of a tradition for me. Allows me to reflect on everything that I’ve written and kinda think about where I want to go next. And I like it better from the ask games because I don’t have to wait for asks to come in and can compare my answers from one year to the next. ^_^
1 List of fics completed this year in the order they were finished:
Displaced (Ladrien oneshot)
No Regrets (Ladynoir oneshot - smut)
You Don’t Have To Pretend With Me (Platonic Adrino oneshot)
Representation Reveal (S5 Adrinette oneshot)
Kisses in the Rain (S5 AU Love Square - technically multichapter, but it’s shorter than many of my one-shots)
Would Trust You With Everything (Adrino multichapter)
Just An Ordinary Girl (Marichat oneshot)
Love Remains (Ladynoir multichapter)
Spin the Bottle (OT4 with cour four - technically oneshot, but it’s longer than Kisses and has more kisses in it. Haha!)
2 Number of words written:
Written: 166,114 words
Published: 151,018 words (more than twice 2022’s number!! Go me!!)
Those numbers are incredibly close together because I haven’t been redrafting as much. Those numbers include six one shots, three completed multi chapters. And another four multi chapter WIPs saw at least one update.
And in another fun milestone! I broke a million words published on Ao3 just this last week!! (I've been writing fic since 2003 and everything I've ever written is on Ao3!)
3 Your most popular fic:
Not Part of the Plan - I suspect that this is mostly because being a teen pregnancy fic, it’s my most tropiest story this year. Haha!
4 Your personal fav:
Aftermath - This story has usurped Right Behind You as my favorite. I’ve been able to connect to the raw hurt and grief in this story, and there’s something very raw and human about it that others seem to be able to connect to as well. I think it’s some of my best work, and that is also thanks to an amazing beta in @ladyofthenoodle who has lent her expertise in more than one way in making this one more true to lived experience.
5 Your fav scene:
It’s so hard to pick a favorite!! I narrowed it down to my three favorites in no particular order.
The last scene in Ch 5 Love Remains - Chat Noir give amnesiac Ladybug a geography lesson from space. It’s got Whole New World vibes, and I just loved the imagery of it.
Ch 4 of Aftermath - I’m particularly proud of Marinette’s panic attack when Adrien tells her she doesn’t have to keep coming over. Like it feels like it comes out of nowhere, but it just totally makes sense. And how it manifests and how she soothes herself (it’s not healthy, but it’s so GOOD!)
Ch 7 of Would Trust You With Everything - The scene where Chat Noir tries to tell Nino who he is, but inevitably doesn’t. And how Nino reassures him through all that. This scene feels so raw, but so heartwarming in light of Adrien’s fears. And I don’t know - it’s beautiful to me.
6 A fic or scene that challenged you:
I really struggled with Right Behind You this year, though it wasn’t for lack of trying! I had started out the year hoping to go back to an update a month here and I only updated it three times throughout 2023.
This was incredibly frustrating because the initial drafts of scenes would come pretty easily, but I couldn’t seem to make them pop the way the earlier chapters did. The good news is I think I figured out what the issue was. Most of my writing this year has been speed writing. And a big part of that is just where I’ve been emotionally. I’m very very out of practice in editing and redrafting, which this story and Aftermath both definitely need.
I’ve only been able to edit Aftermath because I’ve had a ton of help. (Thanks Noodles!) Sadly, it’s harder to find betas for rarepairs, but I have succeeded! (Thanks@coffeebanana!)
7 A line of writing you’re proud of:
“She wanted to be there to see it. To see him.”
This line is way better in context, but I’ve made myself cry about three times with it. And I refuse to explain it because that would give its power away. Guess you’ll just have to go read Aftermath.
8 A comment that touched you:
I can never answer this question without mentioning several!!
Would Trust You With Everything - this story had a ton of enthusiastic followers - way more than rarepair work usually gets, and I wrote this story right after my life fell apart and all the commenters here made throwing this story together just that much more joyful during a time when I REALLY needed it. (I'm looking at you, @bittersweetresilience, @bbutterflies @flightfoot @coffeebanana and so many others that I don't know your tumblr name!!!) Not Part of the Plan Comments - I added sex ed lessons to the end of each chapter here because there’s so much about fertility and pregnancy that people don’t know if typical pregnancy fics are anything to go by, and this seemed to inspire so many people to share their pregnancy stories!!! And these have been so cool because I’ve learned that these stories just don’t often have an opportunity to be shared. And it’s neat that this story with its accompanying lessons could create a space for that!! Aftermath comments - lots of people who have really struggled with moderate to severe depression have apparently felt very seen by this fic. And that a story that is essentially about two characters who feel very alone and like no one can understand can help people feel LESS alone and MORE understood is simply amazing!! I love this story so much!! AHH!! Here's one from @neurovascular-entrapta that meant a lot to me.
9 Something that inspired your writing:
Grief and the need to feel things in a distant abstract-these-are-story-book-characters kind of way so I don’t have to feel my actual feelings as closely every moment of the day really kept me writing the whole year long.
10 Your proudest accomplishment (that one scene; finally finishing that one fic; posting your first fic; etc):
My writing has been really raw and messy this year, and I can’t keep tenses straight to save my life. But there’s something powerful about the rawness that I really like even as all the grammatical errors and the lack of effort on the technical side of most of my stories has driven me nuts.
I am proud of myself for being able to get back into the big projects in these last few months after not being able to face them from April to October. And I’ve started participating in a few writing events here and there again in addition to working on my own pet projects.
11 Do you have any writing goals for the next year?
Well, I wanted to finish Not Part of the Plan in 2023, which didn’t happen only barely! So hoping the last chapter and the epilogue make it out within the next month. Once that’s done I think I want to try and make Aftermath and Right Behind You my primary focus projects this year. And of course, I’m sure new plot bunnies and writing events will take over my brain on occasion. Last year, I said I wanted my writing to become a reliable mental health tool for me again, and I’m glad to say that it definitely was that for 2023. I hope I’m able to use my writing this year to continue my healing journey.
And maybe go and proofread all of the fics I finished in 2023 to fix all the inconsistent tense issues to prepare them for being bound eventually!
12 Anyone you would like to thank?
SO MANY PEOPLE!
@jennagrinsoverml for being one of my oldest fandom friends! For becoming a real life friend for all that we haven't actually met in person. For all the times you vented to me and listened and sent me pictures of your family and gushed over pictures of mine. I'm lucky to know you!
@ladyofthenoodle - for showing up in my DMs, For being a most insightful beta, for dragging me into a larger community over and over again, for listening to both my real struggles and my first world problems, for being my friend!!
@thelibraryloser - I don't know how to put this into words. But I very much look up to you. For your resilience through difficult times - you are role-model for how to handle this world with grace and kindness. Thank you for your stories!
@coffeebanana - for being so enthusiastic in the creation process before and after! When I have a story that is getting no attention one comment from you makes it so it doesn't matter. You give me all I need.
@bittersweetresilience and @wackus-bonkus-maximus for just being so kind and enthusiastic and supportive of any idea I happen to be talking about in any given moment. I guess for enabling me. Haha!
@blur0se and @mila-beedoodling for sharing your ideas and inspiring me to create new things!!
@asukiess, @chocoluckchipz, @sariahsue, @miabrown007 for creating so many beautiful things and for being kind and engaging in so many conversations!
And now, I'm really nervous that I'm forgetting someone because this is the first time where I feel like I've had more than three fandom friends. Haha! It's a good problem to have I suppose. In general, thank you to the miraculous community for helping me to survive this year. <3 <3 <3
Happy New Year Everyone!!
I invite anyone who wants to, to fill this out! (Or something similar because I think it can be modified for artwork pretty easily). But if you do, please tag me, so I can be a cheerleader for all you've accomplished this year!

it is actually so unfair how being quiet is treated as a character flaw that needs fixing in every area of life
#every single school parents evening and uni review session and work reviee meeting the feedback has been#oh yeah i'm smart and hardworking and everything is great but i'm too quiet and need to talk more#like my boss even said she knows it's not actually necessary for a writer#like exactly! i know that i'm quiet but that's why i'm not trying to have a career in sales or something#literally i sit at home at my computer and read and write stuff and my minimal communication with others is written#why do i need to be loud!!!#i've had the same feedback for 20 years at this point it's like can we not just accept that some people are just quiet and not try to fix it#talking

Art Year In Review!
So it's that time of year again where I look back at all the art I managed to post in the last 12 months. And instead of doing my usual collage, I felt like putting it all together in a little video/slide show this time around.
I'm also just a little over a week away from the "anniversary" of my heart attack on Dec 28th of 2022. If I've felt driven to create more than ever since coming out on the other side of that, well...I could go on at length about that. But let's just say it was sobering and shocking and made me feel like there isn't a moment of my time I want to be wasting when I could be creating instead, 'cause who knows how much time any of us have left?
I wanted to especially say thank you with this vid to all the incredible writers I got to work with this year. Some of you I'd partnered with before and it was great to get to do so again. Others, I've been a fan of for ages, and it was a dream and privilege to get to do art for one of your stories! I've made some wonderful friendships through these collaborations which has made my experience in SPN fandom so much more precious to me. The full list in order of posting for the year:
Heart of a Legend by @sitruunavohveli Everywhere by @tragidean Lost Highway by @myaimistrue The Long Hill Home by @angelcasendgame The Bridge by @tessetc King of the Empty by Ryuosen Here We May Be Free by @friendofcarlotta Little Lost Angel by @oginkbloodedwitch Rutting Moon by @mbqnoyolo Apple Pie and the Apocalypse by @ladyknightskye Jack's Angels by @mercurialkitty Intertwined by @deanpollo All These New Beginnings by @ladyknightskye Nice Like by @mbqnoyolo Last Night on Earth by @butterflyslinky Ligaments by @dwinchester1979 Solitudes by @angelinthefire The Beginning by @valleydean Tenebrous by @deancodedcastielenby Be Gay, Eat Pie by @bleuzombie the starving faithfuls by @spacetiel

watching my dad change a flat tire in the movie theater parking lot was genuinely more interesting and memorable than the entire borderlands movie
#my dad and I bonded over borderlands so ofc we were hyped when the first announcement came out#and then this year I saw the casting and heard people's reviews and I was like. oh boy#I was kinda hoping at least some of the hate was unjustified but those hopes were dashed pretty early on#I guess the writers were like “well I haven't played the game but I know the basic lore & characters”#“so I'll just move those around into something I like”#you know how it is with video game movies#also WHERE'S MORDECAI???#mossy’s musings#borderlands

✨Fic Writing Review 2023✨
Tagged by the incomparable @greatunironic and my beloved @wynnyfryd.
Words and Fics
58, 889 words published on ao3
Plus at least 14,975 or so words of unpublished things that are started and incomplete.
At least 30 new ideas and/or WIPs.
8 published fics on ao3 + some new additions to the drabble/ficlet collection + many tumblr fics/microfics
One completed collab with @sparkle-fiend and one collab (two really) with @sparklyslug in the works
Two monsterfucker fics influenced by the Steddie FanExpo NoLa crew and getting crossfaded as fuck in the French Quarter after meeting Guiseppe Quintilliano.
Top 3 by kudos
Cassiopeia, Orion, Bootes (aka he was a gator boi) Like I Always Do (post-starcourt hurt comfort) Nothing Hurts (Like Your Mouth) (oops! all monsters. vamp eddie and were steve banging in a mausoleum)
Fandom Events in 2023
Lex's Spicy Six Spring Fanworks Challenge
Multiple @steddiemicrofic challenges: read here.
Upcoming Projects
Two Stranger Things Reverse Big Bang fics. Hilariously, neither of them are Steddie as the main pairing, but I think at least one is likely to hit novella length. I can't say a lot due to secrecy, but I feel safe saying one is a gen fic and one is f/f.
One tiny baker!steve/rockstar!eddie collab with @sparklyslug, hopefully out this holiday season.
One bigger collab with @sparklyslug in the spring if we keep our enthusiasm together long enough.
Will keep trying to plug away at the witches fic. I have, admittedly, lost some enthusiasm for them but I do know where the story is going. If you love this one, please be loud at me but in a non-demanding way lmao. I need you.
Two Fandom Trumps Hate fills of at least 10k for @withacapitalp and my dearest, Andi.
Eddie Bio project.
???Who Knows??? But there will probably be monstercock involved.
Some personal chat, rules, and tags under the cut.
Doing some oversharing because I'm starting to think it's vital that we all are honest about our struggles so we don't feel alone and so we know we're not failures. We're just people.
It's been a low production year for me. It's been a difficult year in general, but sometimes change is hard even when it's change you need.
Over half my year was eaten up with job hunting, moving, and trying to adjust while feeling the depressive effects of not having a local friend/support network yet or enough money for whatever the fuck the economy is, esp in this area relative to my salary. A good deal of my body of works for 2023 were written pre-move. Hell, a good deal of them were written in the first quarter. (Which, btw, shout out to anyone else who often feels a bittersweet sort of regret at not being productive in the current internet environment where you feel like you're old news if you can't keep up an unsustainable output. I love you, same, it's prob not true anyway, and here are 200 forehead kisses. <33) All of that said, I'm feeling much better lately. I've been reading again. Writing again. Feeling like I'm living again. I'm looking forward to another arbitrary border of time and on filling that border with joy, especially queer joy and weird joy and the intersection of both of those. As they say: let's fucking gooo.
I still love it here. I know steddie won't be forever for me, just like other ships before them weren't forever for me. But I'm having fun and have been really enjoying some of the connections made in this little sandbox.
On that note:
Rules: Feel free to show whatever stats you have. Only want to show Ao3 stats? Rock on. Want to include some quantitative info instead of stats? Please do this. Want to change how yours is presented? Absolutely do that. Would rather eat glass than do this? Please do eat glass, I’ve heard it’s good for your gums. Tagging, even though I know some people have already been tagged: @sparklyslug, @wormdebut, @banannabethchase, @just-my-latest-hyperfixation @messessentialist @rainbow-nerdss @plutosrose @thefreakandthehair and anyone else. @ everyone who keeps this fandom rippin' and roarin', kissing you, kissing you, kissing you

WRITING YEAR IN REVIEW!
I've seen a bunch of these going around from artists today, and I'm loving them! But why should they have all the fun?
We writers have worked hard to ignore our current WIPs this year to dream up new ideas we'll never write about! We've busted our tails to see how long we can go before people who read our ongoing long fics reach out to make sure we haven't died!
We have broken bread with writer's block and had two in the morning plot epiphanies. We've brought back the dead and given them children. We've resurrected planets and killed off characters for looking at us funny because...well, because we can!
Here's my creative 2023 in a nutshell, and I hope some other writers will do this too. Even if you don't think you have been particularly "productive", I think you'll surprise yourselves if you take inventory.

2022 Writer Year-In-Review
Hi, I’m RaisedonRadio & FortressofmyPast on AO3 and FF.net. This is an on-going tradition since 2015. Feel free to check out my past year-end posts: 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015.
In the past, I have always called this my Fic-in-Review. But, well, I didn’t post any fanfics this year. But I DID write.
Tagging a few, and if you see this post and want to do it, consider yourself tagged! @writercorianarose @radio-chatter @shesailsships @talesofsorrowandofruin @goneahead @alonelyturtle
Total Number Of Completed Works: 0 (well, 1 for my nano project, though it definitely is FAR from completed.) Total Number of WIPS worked on this year: 5 WIPS Neglected This Year: 13
Total Word Count: 65,299 (53,873 from Nanowrimo)
Fandoms I’ve Written In: In addition to my original work, I actively worked on fics for Tale of the Nine Tailed (Korean Drama), and Sell Your Haunted House (Korean Drama)
Looking Back, Did You Write More Than You Thought You Would This Year, Less, Or About What You’d Expected?
I wrote way more than expected.
Did You Take Any Writing Risks This Year?
I decided to join National Writing Month about two weeks before November. And I completed it!
Do You Have Any Writing Goals For The New Year?
To start the second draft of my Nano project. And to finish and post at least a couple of fanfics!
Biggest Disappointment:
I really wish I had shared a few fanfics with the world this year! I’m too tight lipped with my original work to create any interaction, ha! I often post a least one fic in the last week of December, but I started playing Don't Starve again...character died on December 30, and now I have no fics to show for it. XD
Biggest Surprise:
Finishing Nanowrimo! Gosh what a ride that was! Will I do it next year? Absolutely not Who knows!
Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to next year!
Since I didn’t post any fics this year, these questions I normally answer didn’t really apply. But if you use this format for your year-in-review and want to use these questions, I thought I’d include them below, and I hope to fill them out next year!
Most Popular Story Of The Year? What’s Your Own Favorite Story Of The Year? Story Of Mine Most Under-Appreciated By The Universe, In My Opinion: Most Fun Story To Write: Most Unintentionally Telling Story: Biggest Disappointment: Biggest Surprise: My Favorite Part Of Fandom This Year:

Notes and tags below the cut
I started counting my words written in March, so my figures from January and February are a rough calculation and I’m probably being too harsh on the final count.
I also had a really stressful few months during a team restructure, so I’ve not been great at keeping an accurate record the whole year, which I regret because it took a lot more time to pull this together because of that.
Read all this and have questions for me? Feel free to send me an ask.
Now I’ve bored you with all my stats, here's the deal for those I’ve tagged below.
Rules: Feel free to show whatever stats you have. Only want to show Ao3 stats? Rock on. Want to include some quantitative info instead of stats? Please do this. Want to change how yours is presented? Absolutely do that. Would rather eat glass than do this? Please don’t eat glass but don’t feel like you have to do this either.
Now for the tags: @dancingwiththefae @ptork66 @artaxlivs @mojowitchcraft @mimisempai @rins-love-wins @insert-witty-user-name-here @lgwilt @dewdropreader @starport-seven-five @cha-melodius @dreamycloud @waterhorseyblues-ao3 @chaos-monkeyy @mirilyawrites @inwantofamuse @dapandapod @dapperwerewolf @gleamingsilence @flootzavut @flordefandom @kell-be-belle @limerental @iwillbringyouruin @flawney @karolincki @jayofolympus @naumaxia-art @rauchendesgnu @pherryt @bravelittlenippa
and anyone else who's read this and wants to do it.

ao3 wrapped [writers edition]
Created by @floydsin. I stole it from @lurkinglurkerwholurks
How many words have you written this year? 327,224 words! Dang!
How many works did you publish this year? At least 20, probably more.
What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits)? borderline. That plot was complicated for me and it took a LOT out of me to write it.
What work of yours has the most hits? borderline.
What work of yours got more feedback than you expected? a sky of honey. I was surprised at how many people liked the previous fic and wanted to see more! I didn't expect that.
Favorite title you used? savestate. it's a bad pun that made me laugh.
If you use song lyrics, which artist’s songs did you pull from the most? I owe Kate Bush for most of my fic titles, lbr.
Pairing you wrote the most for this year? Superbat <3 my beloved
Favorite pairing you wrote for this year? Lex & Bruce in a sky of honey was actually a surprise fave. Lex's dialogue and bickering with Bruce is so much fun.
What work was the quickest to write? Ironically, the first few chapters of borderline.
What work took you the longest to write? bloodletting takes a while to update because of the mando'a translations. Probably 3-4x longer than a normal chapter update.
How many WIP’s do you have in your docs for next year? Just one or two so far.
What’s your longest work of the year? a sky of honey, clocking in at 95,618 words.
What’s your shortest work of the year? do it again.
What WIP are you taking into next year with you? too many...
What’s your most common “Additional Tags” tag? not beta read...so real, bestie.
Your favorite character to write this year? Probably Thomas Wayne, surprisingly. He's so funny to me.
The character that gave you the most trouble writing this year? Bruce.
What’s one pairing you want to explore next year? Clark/Slade
Which work of yours have you reread the most? borderline since I needed to remember where I was going while writing it, and then probably bloodletting.
How many kudos in total did you get this year? 39,650
Which work has the most comments? borderline. though I had to delete a LOT of threads there so it's probably even higher.
Did you do any collaborative works this year? I bother @januariat every few days to discuss a sky of honey, so yes.
Did you write any gifts this year? Several for @audreycritter and @lurkinglurkerwholurks
Did you receive any gifts this year? Yes -- several from @audreycritter and @lurkinglurkerwholurks as well as a few from folks writing about borderline and a few of my shitposts. Thank you friends <3
What’s your most common category? Gen, somehow?
What do you listen to while writing? My increasingly complex spotify playlists. Depends on the type of writing.
Favorite work you wrote this year? I actually really liked nocturn and synchronicity.
Favorite line/passage you wrote this year? It's so hard to decide. Probably one of the mando'a jokes I made in Jason's dialogue.
Biggest surprise while writing this year? People do still tell you to kill yourself over fanfiction online! Bizarre.

My Fanfic Writing Wrapped 2023
Tumblr didn't do personal 2023 year in reviews, so I did it myself. Not sure if this is completely accurate bc I'm only human, but I tried lol
In 2023, I posted 119 fanfictions! 25 posts were headcanons, while the other 94 were fully written fics. I posted the most in November, with 20 fics and 5 headcanons.
My third most requested character was Malcolm Wilkerson (Malcolm in the Middle), with 10 fanfics and 2 headcanons. Second place is Benny Weir (My Babysitter's a Vampire), with 21 fanfics and 9 headcanons. First place (not surprised at all lol) is Reese Wilkerson (Malcolm in the Middle), with a whopping 24 fanfics and 8 headcanons!
My Top 5 Fanfictions of 2023
5. Summer Love (Benny Weir X Reader)
Summary: Benny’s friends don’t believe him when he tells them he has a girlfriend.
289 likes, 11 reblogs, 2 comments
4. Give You My Shoulder (Mike Schmidt X Reader)
Summary: It’s not uncommon for Mike to have a nightmare, mainly from reliving the trauma of his brother being taken. Luckily, he doesn’t sleep alone anymore.
296 likes, 7 reblogs
3. A Nudge (Benny Weir X Cupid!Reader)
Summary: As a descendant of Cupid, Y/n moved to Whitechapel to help people find and connect with their soulmates. The supernatural gang gets suspicious of the new girl. What happens when they catch her about to shoot a love arrow and Benny gets hit?
317 likes, 19 reblogs, 1 comment
2. Girl of My Dreams (Rory Keaner X Reader)
Summary: Rory Keaner was already heavily infatuated with Whitechapel’s pride and joy, Y/n L/n. But when he finds out she’s a nerd, he falls even harder for her.
379 likes, 17 reblogs, 2 comments
1. My Babysitter's a Vampire Simp Headcanons
Summary: Individual headcanons and scenarios of Benny Weir, Rory Keaner, and Ethan Morgan being a simp for you
439 likes, 11 reblogs, 2 comments
I hope that in 2024 I write more things (both fanfiction and original works) and I'm so grateful to all of you have been along for the ride! I love writing, no matter how bad the writer's block gets, and it means a lot that there are people out there who support what I do. And although it was a bit time consuming, this was really fun to make lol maybe I'll do it again next year :)
