My main goal for this year is to strengthen my wrists so that they can’t be used as an excuse anymore. I’m tired of letting that injury dictate what I can and can’t do or try out of fear of injuring it again.
I’ve been doing wrist strengthening exercises along with lifting weights once a week, and I feel like it’s been helping already.
I’m still climbing with a wrist widget, but I hope to not need it soon. Here’s a fun climb that got me quite pumped at the end so I had to throw for the lip and hope for the best. Sound on to hear my friend’s nervous sounds as I struggle to finish the climb lol

I feel the exact same way when I see people use “girly pop” or “babygirl” or the 💅 emoji when what the really are insinuating is f*g. I see it wayyyy to often on other social media sites. Especially about Lando. Yes sometimes it’s meant lovingly, or endearingly, but more often then not it’s used in a mean way.
and even if its used lovingly it most likely carries an undertone of condescension. idk i had a very illuminating conversation two days ago w these two very straight guys id watched quali with, who said they didn't realise the limp wrist meme / the word 'zesty' / babygirl and girlypop were derogatory gay stereotypes, they thought it was 'how girls talk' or imitating women rather than imitating feminine gay men. and i find it soooo funny that when cultural artefacts that are meant to b subversive in the gay community spill over into straight culture, the cishets rly do just turn it back into good ol' gender stereotypes. thats why lando's whole astrology bit for HIM is a casually misogynistic imitation of astrology girls (complete with the pitched up voice), but to tiktok it ended up reading as 'fruity' or 'zesty' or whatever other stupid fucking euphemistic adjective they use to skirt imaginary censors that don't actually exist.
and its funny bc lando is actually so straight-man-ish from his obsession w the world's most boring rich boy sport to his bragging abt sexual exploits on stream to the bluntness / refusal to couch his words & soften the blow in interviews that in women generally doesn't survive past teenhood. but bc hes generally slender and baby-faced (even with that atrocious chandler-bing-in-alternate-reality-episodes goatee) ppl will still code him as feminine on social media / tiktok / fanart / fics especially. idk as someone who like among other things has drawn lando as a girl or in dresses i also personally have a bit of a complicated relationship with the idea of a feminine lando, but it definitely isnt helped by the thoughtlessness with which people in fandom spaces, and also on the internet in general, and also in real life treat these new incognito homophobia cultural trends

I started working out recently (I tried to work out like multiple times in the past but failed so after 6 months of not working out im trying again...) And I notice that when I draw my arms don't get as tired as before !!! Hopefully I can continue working out and get stronger and healthier !

Look who’s back on the wall! So far, so good too. I’ve had three successful full climbing sessions where I’ve tried climbs harder than V3s to challenge myself more and evaluate the state of my wrist. So far slopers/slopey holds, mantles, and the occasional downward pulling crimp still hurt my wrist, so I just need to be smart. This climb surprisingly didn’t hurt it because the side pulls were crimpy and didn’t tug on my wrist and the big moves up had a lip and weren’t completely slopey.
I’ve been doing more rehab and also weighted pull ups to get my strength back. My endurance will take some time to come back, but I’m just happy to climb and try harder. This injury made me realize that climbing isn’t as fun for me when there’s no challenge present. I actually enjoy trying hard 😲

#the days are getting rarer now but sometimes like today I wake up and feel really really sick already#(and today I’ve got good workout pain too but it’s still pain lol)#but now it’s possible for me to get out of bed on days like today and#immediately go ‘what will make this have at least a higher chance of being not this bad?’#and then I start piling up tiny habits#take pain meds instead of forgetting to use them#and take them now rather than when it’s bad enough you have to bribe yourself into walking to get them#pre-prep some food for Aoife before you lose your 12% energy you’re starting with#move your laptop near the bed and bring its charger so worst case scenario you can work from bed#put on extra warm clothes now early#get the braces and heat pads you might want out now before you need them so it’s less strain on your wrists to get them if you do need them#write a post it note of quick food options so you don’t have to think later just read and do#grab out the bowl and place it in this room so you don’t have to run for the toilet if you need to puke#start pounding water rather than drinking it#and pre make a Pedialyte dose so it chills in the fridge#grab treats and put them with the leash so Aoife’s pee breaks are as fast and smooth as possible#etc etc#and not everything helps every time but enough#of them stack up that it makes a big difference#and makes this only a 1-3 day thing rather than a week of never getting back to baseline#just one step at a time and do what you can to make it a little easier for future you#not better. better puts pressure. easier. easier is just being nice which feels warm and good on both sides#health#personal#shh katie

So I am on the Ozempic. People seem really interested to know about the weight loss side effect, and yes, it does suppress your appetite, and I have lost some weight.
But, and so much more importantly, my a1c has dropped from 8.1 to 5.8 SO FAR.
I was able to come off Metformin completely and no longer have to be seen by the endo clinic.
My insulin is closer to regulating itself than it has been for years, I am at significantly lower risk for circulation and eye issues, and have more energy.
This was the goal.
I am not here to shame anyone who is taking it to lose weight, obesity is a real issue and medical solutions that do not involve surgery can be a blessing to many humans.
I'm just saying this...
For me, personally, not going blind or losing a foot to diabetes is the goal.
Kudos to you if weight loss is your goal, I wish you a safe journey there.
Don't let the media shame you into stopping over a perceived or manufactured "shortage"
It's just another instance of fat shaming people using something to help them get healthy.
I have lost enough weight that I am out of pants that fit, and I'm currently too broke to buy a new pair, so I look like a clown rn.
But at least I'm not longer being beat up inside from metformin!
