I finished watching all six of The Crowded Room episodes today. The episodes have been good. The show is good. The show is also so heartbreaking. I'm so proud of Tom. He's such an amazing actor. His acting range is incredible. This whole show has proven that. Especially episode 6. I can't wait to see the next 4 episodes and see how it all unfolds even more.
What Danny and Adam went though as kids is so awful. Seeing Danny switch from Jack to Danny is/ was amazing. Seeing Danny not know where he was and being so scared was so sad. Truly broke my heart. Tom did a phenomenal job with that scene. I was blown away. I still am. Rya at the end definitely made me emotional. Her hugging her son tight.🥺Episode six is such a heart-wrinching episode. Broke my heart. Watching him play the alters the same way the actors/ actresses play them is/was incredible.

Round 2 begins with Dib.
*Links to previous and chapter in reblog*
--
Greatest in the Galaxy Part 5
“Happy morning, my dear viewers and audience members! Who’s ready for round 2!”
Johnny and Skoodge watch on the TV as the audience in the stadium erupts into cheers. They both turn away when they hear the door open and Devi and Tenna walk in.
“You’re late,” Johnny states, “it’s already started.”
“Some of us have to take the bus across the city to get here,” Devi points out.
“You should just stay here.”
“There’s no where to sleep,” Tenna argues.
“Big deal,” he scoffs.
“Without further ado, let’s begin the second game!”
In the stadium, the audience and players all watch as the holographic screen in the sky spins a wheel with different game names.
“The game will be...the Obstacle Course! Players must race against each other around a series of obstacles. First to the finish line will receive five points for their team and second place will get three points! Now who will the players be?”
The screen displays five wheels, each spinning through the different members of the five teams.
“It shall be...Lakk of Irk, Agil of Swif’el, Wrinch of Techon-3, Deloid of Mus’ular, and Dib of Earth!”
“Alright, Dibsters, you’re up,” Pepito says, giving Dib a smack on the back.
“Make us look good,” Zim orders.
“Don’t screw this up,” Gaz snaps.
“No problem, I got this,” Dib grins as he leaves the sky box and heads down to the stadium grounds.
“A race would’ve suited Squee better,” Tak remarks.
“Dib will do fine,” Squee argues, “he’s slippery.”
The five players gather in the middle of the arena and look up expectantly at the screen above them.
“Players, prepare for teleportation to race track 3.”
They’re engulfed in a bright light and disappear from the stadium. The holographic screen changes to a sky view of a starting point of a race track as the players reappear there.
They’re in some kind of enclosed tunnel. The track runs down the middle with gaps on either side and large spotlights shining up from the very bottom. The track itself appears empty, just a straight run from the start to the finish.
“Where are the obstacles?” Pepito asks.
“If any players are knocked off the track, either by the obstacles or their opponents, they will be teleported back to the stadium and disqualified! Ready and...begin!”
Immediately, the track comes to life with flames shooting out of the walls and blades sawing across the floor or swinging from the ceiling.
“There are the obstacles,” Squee remarks as everyone blinks with surprise.
“Yikes,” Dib squeaks. His opponents immediately take off and he chases after them.
On Earth, Colton, Maddie, and Carmen race through the door of Tak’s house. “Are we late?” Colton asks.
“The game has already started,” Skoodge replies as Johnny, Devi, and Tenna are glued to the screen.
“What is it- oh my god!” Carmen exclaims at the sight on the television.
The cam-bots stick close to the players as they run past the obstacles. Lakk is in the lead, his spider legs helping him to nimbly dodge the swinging blades and spitting fire. Agil is close behind him, her natural speed and agility letting her slink around the obstacles like a snake through the grass. Not far behind them is Deloid, who stops all the blades with his massive strength and doesn’t seem at all bothered by the flames as they lick against his hide. Next is Wrinch, whose small stature allows him to easily dodge all the obstacles. And coming up the rear is Dib, who struggles to bumble his way forward while clumsily dodging the blades and fire.
“He is so beefing it,” Gaz groans.
“To be fair, this wasn’t exactly what we were imagining when we pictured ‘obstacle course’,” Squee points out.
“Come on, Dib,” Zim urges.
As Dib stumbles down the track, the wall spews fire and he falls onto his chest to just barely dodge. He glances to the right just in time to see a saw blade whirring towards him. He shoots up onto his knees and the blade just barely passes in front of his nose.
He remains kneeling and watches with disappointment as his opponents get farther and farther ahead. “I’ll never win at this rate. I can’t catch them with just running. I need a strategy.”
Just ahead, a saw blade on a metal arm extends out of the wall and swings over the track. Dib watches it, timing it in his head.
“I can’t be careful. I won’t win if I don’t take risks.”
He stands up and runs right for the blade. As it swings at him, he jumps up and lands perfectly on the flat side of the blade. He rides it down the track and jumps again as it reaches the end of its swing, the velocity sending him shooting ahead. He cries out excitedly as he flies past blades and through fire, covering his face. Thankfully his jacket is fire resistant and he doesn’t get too burned.
When he starts to lose air, Dib hits the ground running but he’s still not close enough to catch up. He sees another blade on an arm swinging down from the ceiling, perpendicular to the track. As it nears him, he jumps up and grabs the arm. The spinning blade cuts through his sleeve and nicks his skin but he ignores it as he swings down the track. Then he lets go and again the velocity sends him flying. His opponents all look back with surprise as he catches up, whooping excitedly.
“Wha-!” Wrinch exclaims in shock. He’s so distracted that he trips over a passing blade. He cries as he starts to fall off the track but something stops him.
Wrinch looks up with shock as Dib holds him and lifts him back onto the track.
In the stadium, his friends all groan. “Ugh, Dib!”
“That blasted moral compass of yours,” Zim scoffs.
“Why’d you save me?” Wrinch asks.
“You needed help,” Dib replies plainly.
“But you’re gonna lose now.”
“Not yet, so gotta run!”
Dib waves as he runs off. He grabs the arm of another swinging blade and flies ahead.
“Excuse me!” he shouts as he shoots past Deloid.
“Hey!” the alien barks after him.
Dib hits the ground running and while he’s much closer to Agil and Lakk now, they’re still too fast to catch up to. And the finish line is just ahead.
He watches as they pass by a spout in the floor, shooting up flames in five second intervals. Dib quickly takes off his jacket and throws it onto the spout during its pause and stands on it. It fires its flames and sends Dib flying down the track. He shoots past Agil, who’s so surprised she runs into the broad side of a blade.
The finish line is closing in. Lakk’s antennae twitch at Dib’s shouting and he looks back to see the human reaching out and grabbing one of his spider legs.
“Hey!” Lakk barks.
“Sorry,” Dib says, “but you’re just another obstacle.”
Dib jumps off the appendage and dives for the finish line. Lakk scowls and lunges after him.
Dib hits the floor and skids across the finish line.
“We have a winner!”
Dib lifts himself up excitedly but his excitement quickly drops when he sees Lakk lying beside him, his spider legs splayed out ahead of them.
“By mere inches, Lakk has taken first place for Irk! In second place is Dib of Earth!
“Booooo!” the Earth team shouts.
“That shouldn’t count; Dib was ahead of Lakk’s body!” Pepito snaps.
“I’m Irken, and even I think that’s stupid,” Zim scoffs.
All of the players are teleported out of the race track and back into the arena. Dib stumbles to his feet, out of breath and covered in scrapes, cuts, and minor burns. He smiles as he looks up at the screen overhead displaying the scoreboard.
“Earth is still in first place, now with 13 points. Just behind them, tied for second, is Irk and Swif’el with five points! But anything can happen, folks!”
“Well, at least we’re still in first,” Dib sighs.
“Don’t get used to it, human,” Lakk growls as he walks past.
Dib shrugs and leaves the arena.
When he reaches his team’s sky box, Shmoopy immediately ushers him to the table so she can look at his injuries. His friends quickly gather around him.
“Sorry, I only got second, guys,” Dib says.
“It was only on a technicality,” Squee points out.
“And at least you didn’t lose,” Gaz grunts.
“And we’re still in first place,” Zim adds.
“As long as we keep winning the battles, nobody will be able to catch us,” Kio states
“You need to take it easy now, Dib,” Shmoopy orders, “your injuries are minor but I need time to heal them.”
“Let’s keep this train moving and start the battle!”
Everyone but Dib and Shmoopy go out onto the balcony to see who will be selected for the next battle.
“The players will be...Zinather of Irk, Hastee of Swif’el, Bo-olts of Techon-3, Flexor of Mus’ular, and Dib of Earth!”
“What!” the Battalion gasp.
“What...” Dib groans.

Tak starts off round 3.

Greatest in the Galaxy Part 10
Pepito dumps half a gallon of milk down his throat, swiftly followed by half a box of sugary, marshmallow cereal. Excess dribbles down his chin, much to the disgust of his friends and everyone watching it on the TV.
“You’re disgusting,” Zim comments.
“Thanks,” Pepito grunts, wiping his mouth.
“You feeling better?” Squee asks.
“Much,” he replies, “I just needed some sleep and food and I’m back to one hundred percent.” “Some?” Dib scoffs, “you slept for twelve hours and ate every bit of food in the house.” “Still,” Pepito snarls, clenching his fists. “I hate that I lost to that self-important jerk face Irken. If I was at full power, or even half power, I could’ve beat him.”
“We couldn’t have predicted that you would go twice in a row,” Kio points out.
“But we can predict it this time,” Gaz retorts, “it’s happened twice now- to Dib then to Pepito. That can’t be a coincidence.”
“She’s right,” Tak agrees, “whoever plays the game today has to be prepared to do the battle too.”
“But why does this keep happening?” Shmoopy muses.
“Are we just unlucky?” Dib questions.
“I doubt it,” Squee grumbles. “I mean, we are, but I just don’t think that’s the reason.”
“Whatever the case, we have to break this tie with Irk,” Zim demands, “the only way we do that is by winning the game and the battle. So shape up, team. Let’s show Irk they can’t mess with Earth.”
Everyone else nods agreeably and leave the house to head to round 3.
The stadium is going wild with cheers as the team enter their sky box and Mic welcomes everyone back.
“Can’t I participate today? Please?” Dib begs, “I have to redeem myself.”
“I told you, Dib, your ribs are still too fragile,” Shmoopy insists.
“Ugh, this sucks,” he pouts, “Pepito got hurt yesterday and he’s well enough to play.”
“I’m not nearly as delicate as you, Dibby,” Pepito smirks.
“Let’s start round 3! What will the game be?”
Everyone watches as the holographic wheel spins through the games, landing on ‘Stuff Your Face’.
“Oh, this is a fun one folks! Players must eat selected foods from each participating planet. Whoever eats the most wins!”
“An eating contest?” Dib questions.
“Oooooh, that does sound fun,” Squee chimes, “I wanna do it.”
“No way, pick me!” Gaz exclaims, shoving him over.
“No, me!” Pepito snaps and shoves her.
The three of them push into each other as they watch the player wheels spin, hoping for their name to come up.
“And the players shall be...Mixa of Irk, Agil of Swif’el, Wrinch of Techon-03, Bikeps of Mus’ular, and Tak of Earth.”
“Awwww,” Gaz, Squee, and Pepito sigh with defeat.
“Finally,” Tak grins and leaps off the balcony. She lands perfectly in the arena and marches into the middle, where the rest of the players meet.
“We got another arena game today.” A section of the ground falls away and is quickly replaced with a large table holding different food or food-looking items. There’s also a large touchscreen displaying a wheel with five different words. “Our committee carefully selected one dish from each of the five competing planets that they feel best represent that planet. Each player must spin the wheel and eat at least one bite from the dish that comes up. Whoever can eat the most wins five points for their team!”
“What Earth food did they choose?” Dib asks as the Battalion struggle to read the words on the wheel.
“Tacos!” Zim exclaims.
“Tacos?” Gaz scoffs, “they feel that dish best represents Earth?”
“I agree,” Squee grins.
“We got a bigger problem,” Kio grunts, “they’re beef tacos.”
“Why is that a problem?” Pepito questions.
“Irkens can’t digest meat.”
“Ohhhh...”
The team look at Tak with worry, as she glares at the pile of steaming beef tacos on the table.
“Tak will burn her guts out!” Dib exclaims.
“Maybe we’ll be lucky and she won’t get tacos before everyone else drops out?” Shmoopy hopefully suggests.
“We’ve already established we’re unlucky,” Squee mutters.
“Let’s begin! Player order will be decided by the wheel!”
Everyone looks up at the holographic screen as it spins a wheel with the players’ names.
“Agil, Bikeps, Wrinch, Mixa, and Tak!”
“Tak’s last,” Dib observes.
“Good. Gives her more chances for the others to drop out,” Zim says.
Agil steps up to the table and spins the wheel of food on the screen. She watches it tensely until it stops on ‘nuts ‘n bolts’.
“Nuts and bolts?” Gaz questions.
“Like the trail mix snack?” Pepito asks, “another Earth food?’
“No, it’s Techon food,” Kio replies.
Agil grabs a plate of metal screws from the table, shuddering.
“They eat literal nuts and bolts?” Squee exclaims.
“Much of the Techon biology is actually made up of mechanical parts,” Zim explains, “they’re basically cyborgs.”
Wrinch licks his lips hungrily as Agil picks up a spoonful of screws and shoves them in her mouth. She swallows hard, gags and heaves, but manages to not spit it out and chokes it down. She puts the plate back on the table, rubbing her abdominal area as she backs away.
“Agil has managed to down one bite, which is the bare minimum. Next is Bikeps.”
The large muscular alien moves to spin the wheel, but as soon as he puts his finger on the screen, it cracks. “Oops.”
“Can we get another screen please?”
The table sinks back into the ground and swiftly returns with a new screen. Bikeps much more carefully touches it and spins the wheel. It lands on ‘Mus’le Bar’.
“Yes!” Bikeps cheers, grabs a plate of what looks like big, black brinks, and begins shovelling them into his mouth.
“Lucky for Bikeps, he landed on the Mus’ules delicacy, mus’le bar. This may be a while.”
As everyone watches him stuff his face, Mixa sidles up next to Tak.
“So, what’s your deal?” she asks, “you’re like an Irken cyborg? That’s not regulation.”
“It was the only way I could survive,” Tak replies, “with the help of my SIR unit, I repaired myself after my body took extensive damage from an explosion.”
So why are you with another planet?”
“Because Irk abandoned me.”
Mixa flinches and looks at the surrounding cam-bots. “You can’t speak badly of Irk. The Tallest can hear you, you know.”
“The Tallest do not scare me,” Tak scoffs and grins into the camera.
In their lavish sky box, the Tallest both scowl with annoyance.
“Uppity defect,” Purple grunts.
“She’ll regret that in the battle round,” Red says.
When Bikeps has finally finished eating, he tosses the empty plate onto the table and backs away, smiling with satisfaction. Wrinch steps up next and spins the wheel. It lands on ‘Snack Stick’.
“Lucky,” Mixa and Tak both grunt as the little alien grabs the Irken food. He looks extremely nervous as he pulls a white stick out of its plastic container, extends his tongue, and licks it.
Wrinch gags and heaves with disgust, twitching and convulsing wildly, before collapsing in a heap.
“Oh! Wrinch’s body just couldn’t handle the Irken delicacy. He’s out!”
Mixa steps over the unconscious alien and spins the wheel. She lands on ‘Speed Dust’.
“Ecstacy?” Squee questions.
“Cocaine,” Pepito corrects him.
“Swif’el food,” Kio corrects them both.
Mixa picks up a plate of white powder.
“Are you sure? That looks suspiciously like crack,” Pepito says.
The Irken scoops up a handful of powder and dumps it in her mouth. She shudders with disgust but is otherwise fine and backs away. Tak steps up next.
“Okay, only the Techon got out this round so that’s one less to worry about,” Zim states, “as long as Tak doesn’t get tacos, we’ll be fine.”
She spins the wheel and it lands on tacos.
“Fuck,” the team sigh.
Tak eyes the plate of food with worry as she hesitantly picks it up.
“O-okay, well, who knows where they even got those tacos,” Squee says reassuringly. “I mean, Taco Hell doesn’t even use actual meat in their tacos.”
“She just needs to survive one bite,” Dib adds.
Tak picks up one of the meat filled shells, lifts it to her mouth, and takes a bite.
Before she can even start chewing, steam rises out of the corners of her lips, as if her mouth is literally on fire.
“Oooh that doesn’t look good,” Gaz comments.
The plate of tacos falls from her hands as Tak covers her mouth and forces herself to chew. Her face contorts painfully as she tries to swallow. Then she lurches, doubles over onto her hands and knees, and throws up brown and pink sludge.
“Oh!” her team exclaim.
“Tak is out! What is Earth food made of? This will definitely need a warning for our more sensitive viewers.”
Tak heaves and falls onto her back next to Wrinch, pink drool still oozing out of the corners of her mouth.
“I gotta go help her,” Shmoopy says and rushes down to the arena. The rest of the team continue watching as Agil takes her turn.
“Well, maybe the Irken won’t win,” Dib suggests hopefully.
After a few more rounds, Mixa is the last standing, after Agil and Bikeps couldn’t stomach what they had to eat. She picks up a snack stick and takes a celebratory lick.
“And Mixa takes the win, earning her team five points, putting Irk solely in first with 23 points! Irk is back on top.”
“As it should be,” Red grins with Purple in their sky box.
“Disgraceful,” Tak groans from where she’s lying on her stretcher in her team’s sky box. She grips her stomach painfully as Shmoopy attempts to wipe the ooze that is consistently leaking out of her mouth. “I’m too much of a disappointment to live. I’d end myself, but as I can’t move right now, one of you will have to do it.”
“Well, you tried your absolute best to eat it, so we can’t blame you for that,” Kio says reassuringly.
“I can,” Zim grunts and Pepito smacks the back of his head.
“The biggest issue is what comes next,” Dib points out.
“Time for the battle!”
“With how the last two rounds went, it’ll be me,” Tak says as she painfully sits up.
“No,” Squee grunts, glaring at the spinning wheels. “Make it me.”
One by one, the five wheels stop on the selected players. The Earth team wheel starts to slow on Tak’s name, then suddenly jumps to Squee’s.
“The players will be Zinather of Irk, Nimbel of Swif’el, Bo-olts of Techon-03, Peccs of Mus’ular, and Squee of Earth!”
“What?” the Tallest exclaim.
“Squee...” Zim gasps as the rest of his friends stare in shock. “What...did you do?”
Murderous rage almost radiates off Squee, the likes of which they’ve only seen from one other person, as he leaves the room. “I’m ending this now.”
Even the cam-bot keeps its distance as it follows Squee through the halls. On Earth, his friends watch him on the TV with concern.
“Squee is pissed,” Colton remarks.
“Of course he’s fucking pissed,” Devi snaps, “Dib and Pepito were both beaten by this Zinather jerk, and he’s in the battle again, for the third time. This smells rotten.”
“This is gonna be bad,” Johnny warns, “no matter who wins, it’s gonna be bad.”
