In line with this post all I want to do today is yap
What does being ‘grounded’ mean?
Literally nothing. It’s Hunter’s only threat but it literally means nothing unless it’s followed up with some kind of ‘punishment’. Which also kind of just means something silly or stupid that they have to do before he’ll consider them forgiven. Like a get along shirt, jumping in a cold lake, or they have to face off against everyone else during a training exercise. Stuff like that. Sometimes the punishments are incredibly silly and it all depends on Hunter’s mood.
With this in mind…
Echo does the most dangerous shit on missions and gets ‘grounded’ the least out of all of the batch but primarily this is because he doesn’t get caught being sneaky and underhanded in their daily lives or can typically talk Hunter out of being annoyed before he gets any kind of dressing down.
He has set their caf pot on fire by accident and didn’t end up getting any of the blame because the rest of them never knew who really did it. Could’ve been anyone.
He once hid little novelty toothpicks around the ship for Crosshair to find and Hunter sat on one and was so mad that he forgot to ‘ground’ someone during his irritated ranting. They still laugh about the noise Hunter made to this day.
Echo is the one who keeps tie dyeing Hunter’s bandanas and he’s convinced it’s Wrecker but he doesn’t know for sure so he can’t do anything about it. (Crosshair knows it’s Echo but Echo caught him sneaking a cigarette one night and while he isn’t afraid of the rest of his squad he is a little bit scared of what Tech would do to him if he found out about the once in awhile cigarette he has after missions so he keeps his mouth shut and helps Echo steal the bandanas.)
Echo has ‘grounded’ Hunter once and it was all because he rolled into a fight, jumped on a droid’s back, stabbed it, got thrown into a wall, and instead of listening when Echo told him to wait for backup he jumped right back in and got a nasty hit to his ribs that left him heavily bruised and sore. Echo stormed right up to him after that mission with a very stern expression and promptly ‘grounded’ him. Hunter was half crushed that he was on the receiving end of Echo’s ‘I’m disappointed’ face and half proud that he’d outdone Echo in the lack of self preservation category.
Half way through yelling at him Echo paused, went, ‘fuck I know how it feels now…’ and then ‘grounded’ him extra for the trouble. He tried to think up an adequate punishment but was too pent up to think of one so instead he just complained at him the whole time he helped treat his injuries.
That day Wrecker vowed to never make Echo that angry at him.

Hello Zoey! No pressure if you can't but I was wondering if maybe you can write some headcanons on how the Bad Batch would react if their female s/o had accidently punched them because they were startled by them. I know I worded this weird. If you can't then that's ok, I still love your work!🥰
Aloha!
😁
That sounds like a fun idea!
The Bad Batch x Fem!Reader HCs - The Sneaky And The Startled
Tumblr media
Hunter
You don't hear him enter the room. You are lost in thought, looking in your closet for a special dress to wear tonight.
Then suddenly you feel someone standing behind you, the same second Hunter opens his mouth.
"Would-"
Your elbow interrupts him. Hunter isn't prepared for it, but is able to move aside a little, so your elbow doesn't catch his face full force.
"Ouch," he says dryly, rubbing his cheek.
Your heart races in shock, and you hastily stammer an apology.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry!"
Hunter smirks wryly.
"You're pretty jumpy," he says with a soft laugh, kissing your heated cheek.
Embarrassed, you smile apologetically at him.
"You mustn't sneak up on me like that."
Hunter laughs again and says, "I wasn't sneaking, you were just lost in thought. I just wanted to ask you if you would like to go to that little restaurant tonight, the one on the roof terrace"
It's your favorite restaurant, with a gorgeous view, beautiful ambiance and fantastic food. Occasionally you treat yourselves to an evening there.
You put your arms around his shoulders and say dreamily, "I'd love to".
Echo
He doesn't scare you on purpose, but every now and then, when you're lost in thought, like now, it happens.
You hear a noise behind you, startled, you move around with your arm outstretched to immediately ward off possible attackers, an automatic reflex you have acquired.
Echo automatically jerks his Scomp Link upward as protection, defense, also an automatic reaction, and your forearm hits the prosthetic relatively hard. Pain immediately travels from your forearm up into your shoulder. You both stare at each other, startled, and start stammering apologies at the same time, talking in confusion.
Finally, you both laugh at your hilarious mishap and behavior.
"Are you hurt, dear?", Echo finally asks gently.
"No, not really, just a little bruise," you assure him.
Echo grabs your arm and looks at it more closely. He sighs softly, kisses your cheek, and gets the baccta. It doesn't matter how much you insist you're not really hurt. Echo will take care of even a simple bruise.
Wrecker
Wrecker accidentally scaring you doesn't happen often. The giant is not exactly inconspicuous and not necessarily very quiet. But still, it happens, especially when you're lost in thought or fully focused on something else.
Wrecker has been showering, has put on his Blacks, but since he doesn't have to leave today, has left out the rest of his gear, including his shoes, so his footsteps are unusually quiet today.
When he clears his throat behind you, you jump up, startled, and punch him in the chest.
Wrecker looks down at you with raised eyebrows and asks, "Are you all right?"
"You scared me," you say a little breathlessly, "How can someone that big move so quietly?"
Wrecker chuckles in amusement.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you, and I wasn't sneaking either, at least not on purpose".
You sigh and gently stroke his chest with your palm where your fist hit him earlier.
"I'm sorry, too," you say softly.
Wrecker smirks.
"It's okay, sweetie, don't worry, that didn't hurt," he says, leaning down to you and kissing your forehead.
Tech
He's not a sneak, but he's often lost in thought himself and not really aware of how quietly he moves sometimes.
Tech has his datapad in his hand again, is on his way to you. Engrossed in his calculations, he approaches you and doesn't see that you are also busy and don't immediately notice his approach.
When you feel his hand on your shoulder, you hastily turn around and knock the datapad out of his hand. The device flies through the air, finally landing on the floor with a clatter, and part of it breaks off.
Your heart races, but at first neither of you says a word, instead looking at the broken datapad on the ground.
Finally, you look at him. His brows are raised in surprise. After a blink, he says matter-of-factly, "Well, that's unfortunate."
You find your voice again and say apologetically, "I didn't mean to. You gave me a scare. I'm sorry, Tech."
He picks up the pieces of the device again and says, "I should be able to fix that, dear, no need to worry"
"Are you sure?" you ask meekly.
Tech smiles gently, kisses your cheek and assures you, "Absolutely sure."
Crosshair
It is in his nature to move and behave quietly and unseen, that is in his profession. It actually happens quite often that he startles you. Crosshair has been standing in the same room with you for a while, but you haven't noticed him. Amused, he watches you talk quietly to yourself as you work, going over some things in your head. He finally approaches you, already prepared for the fact that you will most likely get scared again. And he is right. As you turn hastily, terrified, your arm already raised to lash out in panic, his hand grabs your wrist, quickly and deftly, preventing you from hitting him. You look up at him, startled, heart racing. The toothpick between his lips moves from one corner of his mouth to the other before he says, "Cute." You sigh and say, "You really need to get out of the habit of sneaking up on me." Crosshair smirks. "That's probably not going to happen. It would be better you get out of the habit of being scared" You frown, "How am I supposed to get out of that habit?" " In that I scare you more often" he says, still smirking. You roll your eyes. "Hey that's my move" he says dryly "You're cute when you talk to yourself by the way".
You blink and look at him in surprise. Finally, he lets go of your wrist, leans toward you and kisses your heated cheek.

Cupcakes, Fairy Lights and One Undead Army
It's Halloween for the Bad Batch
A fluffy Modern AU
@saturn-sends-hugs @inkstainedhandswithrings @the-bi-space-ace
Halloween fic is finally here! Pat on the back to me for not making this super depressing
Cold, dead eyes stared back at him. Deep and black and a stark contrast to the pasty white of the rest of the face. An unmoving grin of uncovered teeth stretched across the front of the jaw and up towards the cheeks. Echo looked death in the face. And he smiled.
"What are you looking at?"
"Just enjoying the new paint job."
"Oh shut it, Echo." Crosshair rolled his eyes. "I'll have you know that I didn't ask for this. I was forced against my will."
"Like hell you were." Echo chuckled and shot his brother a smug grin. "You know you're enjoying this."
"Says the one who hasn't been painted to look like his insides are on the outside. How did you get out of this anyway?" Crosshair pointed an accusatory toothpick in Echo's direction before putting it between skeletal teeth. The dark paint on his lower lip had already begun to smudge.
"Because I'm not the one taking Omega trick or treating." In all honesty, Echo was a little disappointed about not going, but he was more vulnerable to the cold now than he was before the accident and unless he wanted to walk around the neighbourhood wrapped up in thirty coats and fifteen layers of mittens, he would have to stay indoors. Maybe he could dress up as a marshmallow next year. Or just hope that they didn't have a repeat cold spell. "And someone has to stay home and make the cupcakes." At that, he hit away the large hand that had crept round towards the bowl in front of him. "Leave the chocolate chips alone, Wrecker."
"Awwww. But they're so good!"
"I know! Which is why they're for the cakes. If you eat them all now, then there won't be any left." Echo chuckled and turned to look at his brother, finding that he was now leaning on the counter, wrapped in his ghost-patterned jumper and thick orange socks tucked under loose trousers. He had a stolen marshmallow in his mouth. "Really?"
Wrecker just grinned and turned to look at Crosshair. "Looking good, Cross! When are you gonna put the face paint on?"
"Oh ha ha." The other let out a sarcastic laugh and rolled his eyes again, chewing on his toothpick. One day he would get splinters in his tongue and his brothers would one hundred percent all laugh at him for it.
"Where's Megs?" Echo asked, eyebrow raised inquisitively.
"Tech is helping her with her costume. Hunter's sorting out his own face."
As if summoned by his words, Omega came barrelling down the stairs and into the kitchen, Tech and Hunter trailing after, also decked out in black and white paint. Omega was draped in lightly glittered navy fabric, a dark hooded cape and a thick belt adorned with trinkets and fake bones. She'd insisted on a necromancer vibe this year, hence the skeleton army currently traipsing around the house. Tech had taken particular care in making sure her costume was in top shape this year (and every year previous). She ground to a halt just before she collided with the dining table, struck her arms wide and spun in a circle. "What do you think?"
"Looking great, Megs! The most powerful necromancer out there!" Wrecker went over and scooped her into a tight hug. Echo went and joined them.
"You look awesome, kid." He ruffled her hair and she batted his hand away, giggling. It was then that Echo noticed the eyeliner. Neat and precise. Definitely Crosshair's handiwork. 'Forced against my will' my ass Echo thought and laughed to himself. "Now go and get some treats before there are none left. You've got competition this year. I hear Padme and Anakin are taking the twins out for the first time."
Just as fast as she'd arrived, Omega disappeared into the corridor to slip her shoes on.
"Well, I guess we should start making a move." Hunter said. "You two going to be okay here?"
"Yeah, we'll be fine. You lot go and have fun."
Hunter nodded and turned to join Omega in the hallway, closely followed by Crosshair, who gave them a loose two-finger salute before departure. Tech went to go with them before turning towards Wrecker. "Thanks for letting me go this time. I know you don't like missing out on this." He nudged his glasses up his painted nose.
"No worries, Tech! There'll always be next year. Go and have fun. And make sure to bring loads of goodies back!" Tech smiled in response and left the kitchen.
Echo knew that Wrecker had wanted to go again this year, but the others always felt bad about leaving Echo home alone, despite his insistence that he'd be fine. They argued that unless all of them went (as they had done their first year with Omega), no man would be left behind. Last year Tech had stayed, and the year before that, Cross. They took it in turns and this time Wrecker chose to be the one to join him. Echo appreciated the company.
He heard the door shut, cutting off Omega's excited ramblings, and reached up with his left hand to adjust his beanie, a grey one with a pumpkin embroidered on the front that Omega had gifted him last year. He turned to his brother. "Hey, Wreck? Hunter went to put the lights up earlier and they weren't working. Think you could tinker with them a bit? See if you can get them functioning again?"
"Sure thing! The pumpkin ones or the ghosts?"
"Both. Neither of them wanted to do anything today. I think they're just old now. We've had them for a few years."
"I'll go and have a look. I'm sure I can get them up and running in no time!" Wrecker gave him a charismatic smile and made his way to the living room, but not without stealing another marshmallow from the counter first. Echo gave him a half-hearted smack on the elbow, smiling as he heard Wrecker's deep laugh bounce down the corridor.
It was definitely nice to have someone in the house with him. Growing up, there had always been people with him at this time of year. First him and Fives, and then even more when the Batch had moved in. How 99 had managed to corral so many kids around the house and take them all trick or treating without losing any of them was anyone's guess. Their adoptive father was the best. Nights like this reminded Echo of the chaos of Halloween during their younger years, especially with Omega, who had the same amount of energy as Fives had done back then.
The same amount of energy he had now, in all honesty. His twin had had to move abroad for work shortly after their honourable discharge from the military and as a result they didn't see each other nearly as often as they hoped. There were always promises from each side to visit the other, but conflicting schedules seemed to put a stop to every plan before they ever truly got off the ground. Echo made a mental note to give him a call later when the others were back. Until then, he was on important cupcake duty.
He heard music coming from the living room and realised Wrecker had stuck on his carefully curated Halloween playlist to run in the background while he worked. It had been changed and edited several times over the last few months so that it could, as Wrecker put it, have 'the perfect spooky vibes with the right balance of fun'. Echo didn't mind. It gave him something to listen to as he made a start on the cupcakes. And maybe he bust out a few dance moves in the kitchen, but who was to say?
✴〰✴〰✴〰✴〰✴〰✴〰✴〰✴〰✴
By the time Echo had the cupcakes made and cooling in the kitchen, Wrecker had managed to fix both sets of fairy lights and draped the pumpkins up the bannister on the stairs and the ghosts around the living room. He and Echo were sprawled out on the sofa, each wrapped in a thick knitted blanket, basking in the glow of the lights and the TV. They had made it part way through Beetlejuice when the door unlocked and Omega came darting into the living room, leaving behind a trail of treats that had fallen out of her bag in her haste. "Look how much we got this year!" She was practically bouncing off the walls.
"Yes, it was certainly a very successful evening. I believe we have exceeded last years haul by approximately a third." Tech added, giving his two brothers a smile. His face-paint was still so neat and precise it looked like it had been applied mere seconds ago, unlike Hunter's, which was starting to go grey where the colours had blended. It was probably a result of his habit of running a hand down his face every time he sighed (a thing which happened very often whenever Crosshair was around). Why he had even bothered to paint a skull onto his face when he already had one permanently inked on was anyones guess. He was picking up the sweets Omega had left on the floor and Echo could hear Crosshair kicking his shoes off in the hall as his characteristic snarky drone chipped in with a "Yeah, and with that much sugar she'll be running around on the ceiling."
"I think she might already be at that point." Hunter sighed and gave a soft chuckle, tucking away some of the strands of hair that had come loose from his bandana. "How about you go and take your shoes off, Megs. Then we can finish the film with these guys." He put the treats back in the bag and slumped down next to Echo, head tilted on the back of the sofa.
"Fun evening?" Echo quipped.
"I'm getting too old for this. I can't keep up with the energy anymore."
"Oh come on, Hunter. If you're old then what does that make me?"
Hunter looked at Echo and grinned. "Positively ancient."
Echo would have shoved him over sideways at that remark, but Hunter had sat down on his right side so the best he could do was aggressively jab him in the shoulder with the end of his stump. Hunter laughed.
"I'm gonna go and make hot chocolate!" Wrecker announced and hopped off the sofa. "Mind giving me a hand, Tech?"
"Of course."
Crosshair seized the opportunity, slinking past his brothers as they went through the doorway and stealing Wrecker's spot, wrapping the discarded blanket around his shoulders. "You been okay, Echo?"
"Yep! Haven't had as many trick or treaters as I thought we would, so it's relatively quiet. I'm thinking of giving Fives a call later as well. I'm sure he would want to see Omega's costume this year."
"Oh goodie." Crosshair said sarcastically. "I haven't spoken to that knucklehead in a while."
"You know you love him really."
"You say that, but he's your twin and I think that speaks for itself."
"Just like I said, you love him."
"I think you two need to be forensically analysed."
Echo just shook his head, smiling.
"We're gonna call Fives?" Omega said excitedly as she wiggled between the two and tucked herself under Echo's arm.
"Sure, kid. I'll set up the video chat when we're decorating the cupcakes. Sound good?"
"Uh huh!" Omega nodded and turned to the film in front of her.
✴〰✴〰✴〰✴〰✴〰✴〰✴〰✴〰✴
They finished the movie, wrapped up in more blankets, empty hot chocolate mugs scattered on the floor and coffee table in front of them. Omega sprung off of the sofa as soon as the credits started rolling. "Okay, cupcake time!"
"Jeez, Megs. How have you still got this much energy?" Hunter groaned, practically half asleep. He'd ended up almost lying down with his head on the arm rest.
"Because her bloodstream is almost completely sugar." Tech said. "If she actually falls asleep tonight I'll be impressed." Hunter groaned again and sunk lower into his seat.
"And so our mighty leader has fallen. Defeated by a small child."
"I'm glad you're enjoying my misery, Cross."
"It's what keeps me going." Crosshair shot him a sly grin and jabbed a toothpick in his direction. "And it's why going trick or treating with you is so entertaining."
Echo couldn't help but chip in. "I thought you were forced against your will?"
"Shut it, Echo, or I'll smother you with your beanie."
"I'd like to see you try."
"All bark and no bite, Crossy."
"What did you just call me?"
"Nothing." He said smugly. Crosshair's eyes narrowed and Echo continued. "But if you're too scared to defend your honour then..."
"Oh you are on!" Crosshair lunged at Echo, reaching to grab onto the grey fabric. Echo dodged and tumbled backwards, laughing, trying to keep his brother away with his one available arm. Hunter groaned as Echo's head collided with his stomach and then groaned again when Crosshair joined the dogpile.
"Really, you two? Can't a man get any peace around here?"
"Hey, my life is at stake here!" Echo giggled as he continue to grapple with the man above him. "I'm protecting myself!"
"And I'm trying to protect my kidneys! Move your head!" Echo just tilted his head even further back into Hunter to avoid Crosshair's grasping hands. He was pretty sure his skull was starting to dig into Hunter's ribs at this point and the latter was unlikely to be happy about it.
"Technically, your kidneys are towards the back of your body, so Echo's head poses very little risk to them."
"Okay thanks Tech but I don't really want any of my internal organs squashed right now!"
Suddenly, Echo's hat disappeared off his head. "Huh? what the-"
"Hey, Cross. Catch!" Crosshair sat up and grabbed the hat from the air as Wrecker threw it towards him.
"Oh come on!" Echo exclaimed. "That's cheating!"
Crosshair waved the hat just out of Echo's reach. "It's called teamwork, brother." Echo gave him a playful shove and watch him retreat to the other side of the room, before pushing himself off Hunter and standing up.
"Oh thank God for tha-" Hunter's sentence was interrupted as the stolen beanie smacked him in the face. "Seriously?" Crosshair laughed at him. "I honestly don't know what I'm going to do with you lot."
"Send them back to 99?" Tech asked jokingly.
"Don't tempt me." Hunter stood up and put the hat back on Echo's head, pulling it down far enough that it covered his eyes. "Come on, children. Megs wants cupcakes." The girl in question was waiting in the doorway, thoroughly amused by the events taking place. They were supposed to be the mature ones here and clearly they were demonstrating that very well.
They all migrated to the kitchen, Crosshair, Hunter, and Tech sitting down by the table, while Echo, Wrecker and Omega pulled all of the cupcake decorating supplies together (or what was left of them at least, as Wrecker stole yet another marshmallow from the bag). Echo grabbed the buttercream he had made from the fridge and placed the bowl in front of Omega before pulling his phone out of his pocket and calling his brother. No response. Echo hadn't actually checked with his twin to see if he was available tonight and there was a good chance the man was busy at some Halloween party and wouldn't respond until he was too drunk (or too hungover) to get back to him with any level of coherence. Echo placed his phone down and leant on the counter to watch the cupcake decorating.
Wrecker and Omega seemed to have set up a little system, with the latter piping neat swirls on each cake and her brother delicately placing decorations on each one. People assumed that because of his large size, Wrecker struggled with fiddly tasks. In fact, the opposite was true. He had as good as control as the rest of them, if not better, and could make some of the best damned Halloween cupcakes the world had ever seen. This year was a mix of Frankenstein's monster and little marshmallow ghosts. Echo laughed when he noticed Omega's tongue poking out of the side of her mouth in concentration.
*Thunk*
He glanced towards the other three and found that Hunter had slumped over with his arms crossed on the table and his head tucked between them. Crosshair poked him in the side of the head with a slender finger. Hunter let out a muffled groan of annoyance. A smirk appeared on Crosshair's face, which grew even bigger when he noticed tech taking a picture of their brother. At the sound of Tech's phone camera, Hunter responded again, this time with actual words (though more into the table than to the person opposite him).
"Did you just take a picture of me?"
Tech paused for a second before simply stating "Maybe".
"Tech..."
"I am simply documenting this Halloween. It's what families do."
"Why don't you take a picture of Omega then?"
"Because you being this exhausted is objectively hilarious."
"Shut up, Crosshair."
"And we can use it as blackmail."
"Crosshair." Crosshair just poked him again.
Before Hunter could complain to the table anymore, Echo's phone started ringing. Fives.
"Hey, brother!" The welcome was immediate as Fives' face appeared in frame. He was dressed head to toe in tattered grey clothes and appeared to have painted his skin and hair a mottled grey as well.
"Were you going somewhere or did a bag of flour fall on your head again?"
"Okay, first of all, that only happened once! And yes, I am in fact going somewhere thank you very much. We have a work Halloween party."
"Thought you would have gone with something more eccentric. A ghost seems pretty tame for you."
"Eh, I just didn't have the time this year." Fives dropped down onto a sofa. "I considered going as you before your morning coffee but I decided it probably wouldn't be a good idea to terrify my colleagues that much."
Echo propped his phone up on the middle of the counter and gave Fives the middle finger. Fives simply poked his tongue out in response before adding "What're you guys all up to this evening?"
"Cupcakes!" Omega yelled excitedly, popping up next to Echo in the bottom corner of the screen. She had a smudge of green across her cheek where she had likely rubbed it with a frosting-covered hand.
"Hell yeah! That sounds awesome. Wish I was there. I'd kill to have Echo's baking again."
"Wish you were here too, Fives." Omega said. "Are you going to be visiting soon?
"I'll try, kiddo. I'm a little tied up with work at the moment but I'll be over as soon as I can."
"Pinky promise?"
"Pinky promise times a thousand." Fives smiled, but Echo could tell there was a slight sadness in his eyes. He knew that moving away from his family hadn't been easy for him, or for the rest of them. However, the emotion was gone almost immediately. "How about we talk about how awesome you look, Megs? The costume rocks!" Omega stepped back and spun in a circle to let Fives see her outfit better.
"Thank you! Tech helped!"
"Haha, sounds about right." Fives said.
"We've got skeletons all over the house this year because, apparently, what this family really needs is an undead army." Echo added, chuckling, and he flipped the camera to show the three sat at the table, faces still painted like skulls. Although, what was left of Hunter's couldn't be seen as it was still buried in his arms.
"Haha looking good, fellas! It's almost an improvement!" Fives jested before his tone gained an edge of playful inquisitiveness. "Everything okay with the Sergeant?"
"He got defeated by a child on a sugar high." Crosshair said.
"Aw, come on brother! I thought you were more resilient than that!" Hunter merely responded by flipping Fives the bird without lifting his head from the table.
"Wow. So mean." Fives' face contorted into mock upset.
"Don't mind him. He's just coming to terms with the fact that he's getting old." Quipped Tech before Echo followed with a "I think we might be sending him to an early grave."
Fives couldn't resist chiming in again. "We should paint half a skeleton on his coffin! It would look so cool!"
"And tie a bandana round it!" Wrecker added enthusiastically.
"I hate all of you." Came Hunter's reply.
They stayed in the kitchen until all of the cupcakes were done, at which point they decided to migrate back to the living room. Tech had to practically peel Hunter off of the table. The Sergeant's paint was becoming so smudged he looked closer in colour to Fives and had lost most of the characteristics of the skull. Echo made a mental note to remind his brother to wash the paint off later before he woke up to find what would look like the remains of Casper the Friendly Ghost streaked across his pillow.
It didn't take long for more bickering to ensue and for Echo to smear frosting on Crosshair's face. His brother responded by wiping it away and then licking his finger clean, grimacing at the chalky taste of the paint that came off with it. A little bit of flesh poked through at the tip of his nose. "You're a menace, Echo."
Echo gave a dramatic gasp and put his hand to his chest. "How dare you make such unsubstantiated accusations. I'm the older and far more mature one here."
"Debatable."
"Thanks for the support, Tech."
"Mature? Certainly not. Old? Definitely." Tech gave a cheeky grin.
"Okay, that's alright, Tech. You don't need to say any more."
"I don't know. I think he does." Crosshair quipped.
"I really think he doesn't."
"Well, I do have a list of every time Echo has-" Echo threw his balled up cupcake case at Tech's head.
"Wait, are those the times-"
"Fives!"
"Okay, okay. If you don't want me to talk about it-"
"I really don't."
"Boring!" Crosshair exclaimed.
"Don't make me smear frosting on your face again."
"You wouldn't dare."
"Try me."
A glaring match ensued between Echo and Crosshair, which lasted far longer than it probably should have before Fives intervened. "Okay, children. Settle down. It's a holiday. Don't kill each other now."
"Shut up, Fives." Crosshair said, although there was no actual aggression in his voice. "Weren't you supposed to be going somewhere?"
"I was, but some people, not naming names, decided to start an argument. Someone has to mediate you lot."
"Oh come on, Fives. If you were here, there would be frosting smeared on every piece of furniture in this house and the next." Echo said.
"You wound me brother."
"Okay. You can piss off now."
"How rude!" Another exclamation of fake hurt from Fives. "And using this kind of language around Omega as well."
"I've heard worse!" Omega chimed in before taking another bite of her cupcake.
"Ten out of ten parenting guys, well done."
"Hey! I distinctly remember you being told off by 99 on multiple occasions for your less than stellar language." Echo retorted.
"Yes, but I also wasn't in charge of a child, so it doesn't count." Fives argued, smugly.
"Are you going or not?" Crosshair asked.
"Trying to get rid of me?"
"Yes."
"Okay, okay. Fine!" Fives held a hand up in surrender. "I'll see you guys around, okay?" A chorus of goodbyes circled round the room (or in Hunter's case, an incoherent noise and a weak wave of his hand). "I'll call you in a couple weeks, Echo."
"Sounds good. And give 99 a ring too. He's desperate to say hi again." Echo grinned. "Take care."
"Of course." Fives smiled and gave a salute before the call ended.
"Your brother is so weird." Crosshair said.
"He's your brother too."
"Don't remind me."
Echo picked up Crosshair's discarded cupcake wrapper, scrunched it up, and threw it at his head.
"Seriously? Are you going to do that to everyone?" Echo just smiled and Crosshair rolled his eyes, already sticking another toothpick in his mouth.
"Can we watch Monster House?" Omega asked, mouth full of cake.
"Hell yeah!" Wrecker said. "I love that film." Echo had to agree that it was a good choice, even if it was creepier than any movie made for kids should probably be. (That film had given Fives nightmares for weeks when he first saw it. Echo would have found it far more amusing if he wasn't missing out on his own sleep because of it).
"Sure." Tech said. "But you will go to bed after this one. Agreed?"
"Okay, Tech!" Omega said happily and snuggled down into Wrecker's side, draping a blanket over herself. Even if she did go to her room after the film, Echo knew the chances of her getting to sleep before her brothers was slim. It was worth a shot anyway.
"You know who should probably go to bed?" Crosshair asked. He pointed his toothpick towards the end of the sofa where Hunter was.
The Sergeant was tucked up into a ball, bandana slipping over his eyes, and his chest rising and falling with deep breaths. He was already dead to the world. Echo chuckled and turned to the TV as Wrecker found the film. Although, it didn't seem he was going to get much peace this evening, even with one brother fast asleep beside him, because just a few minutes into the film Omega decided to circle back round to a previous topic of conversation. "So that list of things Echo has-"
"Nope!"

So, I have been thinking a lot about this, and so now you all get to hear about it
Bad Batch: Modern Au
This post will briefly outline the context that a series of snapshots and Vignettes will be based off (just to save me from the pain of incorporating that into actual fic)
Hunter - the dad.
He is ex-army, served from 19 until he had to come home and look after his brothers when their parents passed
Accidentally adopted Omega when she was little, one of his army pals Cut had gone into child services since retiring and struggled finding a placement for little Omega
Like a duck to water, Hunter became a mother-hen, not only to Omega, but to his younger brothers as well.
Is currently aged 28
Tech - the nerd
He is in his third year at university studying computer science
is currently aged 21
Stays holed up in his room a lot, its got quite smelly.
Likes when Omega comes in his room and just exists while he does stuff, thats kinda how they bond.
Echo - The Ghost
Echo was really hit hard by the passing of their parents.
He was the oldest brother home when they got the call thier dad had passed away from a sudden heart attack, and watched his mother fade away from a broken heart
He is quite snarky with the rest of his fam, still unsure about Omega, but he is getting used to her, but would fight someone to the death if they were mean to her
He hurt his leg in an accident at his work, but has since attended rehab. He lives with chronic pain, and works occasionally as a mechanic
is currently aged 23
Wrecker - The Muscle
Wrecker is obsessed with the gym
He is always there at 5am every morning, benchpressing
He has a whole supplements thing going on and is trying his best to get proper jacked
But when he is not working he is at the local bakery. He really enjoys working with bread and cake. Its his passion outside of fitness.
Omega enjoys hanging out at the bakery afterschool, finishing her homework while Wrecker finishes up for the day.
Is currently aged 19
Crosshair - the Enlisted
Crosshair was in the Army at 19 too, somehow was assigned to the same unit as Hunter after a couple of tours.
When Hunter came back to take care of the fall out of their parent's death, Crosshair instead chose to stay in the army
It was his way to cope, Hunter thinks he's changed, not dealing with his emotions.
Its a point of contention within the family. But they love Crosshair nevertheless
Omega wants Crosshair to love her too, but she is not sure she ever will
Is currently aged 25
Omega - The little one
she is currently 12
Hunter fostered and then adopted her when she was 9 and a half
She feels like one of the crew, but is still a little timid around Echo and Crosshair, for different reasons
She enjoys playing soccer and cooking dinner for her bros
She has just started high school and finds it a bit difficult to fit in
Tagging some lovely people who might be interested

Bunch of friends and I have been making head cannons on The Bad Batch, some even requested it, so I’ll tie ‘em in together (and add a little oneshot of them below it on a few)👀
———
•Hunter can take a lot, I mean like, a lot a lot. And even he needs to take a break, but the Marauder is still so loud, and with heightened senses, he can’t. So he’ll try and pull his bandana down over his eyes and block out anything he can. Or he’ll wear his helmet that’s been modified by Tech to reduce some things that causes Hunter to get a headache or just plain annoyed to the point where he gets mad, and no ones wants to mess with a mad Hunter
•Wrecker has a tendency to hit too hard, especially his brothers, who have grown use to it but sometimes he hits a bit hard to where they have to rub the pain out. So when he first hits you, and you almost fall back, he’ll apologize and try to not hit, but everyone knows he can’t do that, so he’ll hit a little lighter. Which makes his brothers so grateful that he isn’t as rough as he use to be. But he can still be if he’s excited
•Tech, oh baby Tech. He’s probably the only one who wishes he had less braincells to have fun like the others. However! His brothers always tell him how happy they are, that’s he’s him, and without him. They wouldn’t have their armor. He basically made it for them since the Kaminoans couldn’t care what they needed and didn’t do anything about it. So he took Reg armor and upgraded it for his brothers enhanced skills.
•The Batch already knows that Omega has always been able to get away from them and causes trouble, or it finds her. So they only way for them to truly keep an eye on her is to have something attached to her, or they hold her hand. They don’t want to risk getting yelled at by Hunter cause they lost his daughter, or having him pull his hair out cause she’s missing. So they keep a close eye on her all the time
-Hunter has this bracelet, that has a small string attached to it, that way, when she lets go, he’ll still feel her still tug on the other end
-Crosshair couldn’t care less about her, so he’ll just put a string around her, measure how far she can go, and then tie it to his belt. He has to tug her back before she goes too far
-Tech, well, you know those bags that are monkeys and Koalas, that have a string to the back, and there’s a clip on the front? Yeah he uses that, and put it on his wrist, with the Lula doll on the back
-Wrecker always carries her, but when he’s not, he either holds her hand. Or get in trouble with her, but if he’s serious. Then Omega knows to stay close
-Echo has this tracker on her comm, that allows him to see where she’s at. But he’ll also tell her to hold onto a handle on his belt, or maybe his ‘skirt’. If he doesn’t feel her, he goes feral
•Who has the most beautiful hair out of the five? Except Omega? Crosshair obviously. He won’t let it grow out like Hunters, but he won’t go bald like Wrecker, the closest he got was from the accident on Bracca, but he keeps in a High and Tight style. It matches him very well, and in the sunlight, it look reflective, amazing huh?
•Echo is mainly the ‘mother’ of the Batch. Everyone usually depends on him to cook, and clean, or make sure everyone’s hydrated before going on a mission. He always has snacks on him, if someone says they’re hungry, then he’s quick to throw in a snack. They’re thirsty? Here, have some juice he packed, it was suppose to be for Omega but.. someone said they’re thirsty. And he can’t bare them having to be ‘dry’
•When the Batch, excluding Echo, were cadets on Kamino. They would get bullied the most out of the Regs, but Crosshair would never tolerate it. He stood up for all of them, sometimes he would win, others he lost. And when he did, Tech would almost always be the one to patch him up and give him a hug. Which leads to a big huddle on the floor while the boys thank their (middle?) brother.
-When that happens, Tech would be extra nice since he mostly got picked on as well.
-Wrecker would always have Cross’s back, and if he got beat up. He would give Lula to him
-Hunter apologized but thanked him nevertheless. He would always hug him
•Speaking of Lula and Crosshair, whenever Cross got beat up or just wasn’t feel well. Wrecker would give Lula to his brother, and believe it or not. Crosshair would chew on Lula’s ear, Wrecker doesn’t mind. He knows it calms his little brother down and Cross might have pica, he loves chewing on things that really don’t count as ‘common’ such as gum
•Hunter knows sign language! Fun fact, since he gets a sensory overload every now and then, he won’t talk since he doesn’t like the sound of his own voice, it’s like a vibrating motion in his skull, as he calls it. So he doesn’t like it, Wrecker knows he’s the most loud and during that time, he’ll only ever nod or shake. He doesn’t really know sign language, and he tells Omega to quiet down during that time, but Tech will teach her. Echos pretty good at it, but Crosshair is the best. He watches and practices on his own time, alone
•Crosshair has gotten use to holding his breath when he’s sniping, and he does that a lot. So when he’s just, relaxing and chilling, you or the Batch will watch him, and usually have to tell him to breath. He’s great at holding his breath, he finds it comforting, and he doesn’t know he does it until someone says something. He wins at who can hold their breath the longest
•As much as Tech is always pushed off or told to be quiet, or ‘no one cares, keep moving’, Tech won’t ever stop telling facts. Everyone’s so use to it, sometimes they’ll end up listening when he doesn’t think they are, which he doesn’t care cause they brush him off and he has a need to get whatever is off his chest, to someone. He mostly tells Crosshair about it, he’s the only one who won’t tell him off, he’ll sit and listen to him, and he’s gained knowledge of some pretty good stuff, like if one side of the toast is dark, then it’s burnt. Or if the ovens top is still red and warm, then it’s hot:)
•Wrecker is basically a big child, so don’t not expect him to act like one. He loves playing games, if no one wants to, and Omegas not there, he’ll play by himself. He’ll count steps and skip one, then count a few more. He also likes to memorize things, when he goes to look at it further, boom. He hits his head and forgets it, he doesn’t want to know any more. Sometimes, he’ll bring Lula to play with Omega and her Batcher
•You can NOT change my mind on this, Crosshair has piercings, industrial on his right ear, one top cartilage on his left, three lobe ones on each ear, some snake bites and a tongue piercing. I know it seems like a lot, and it is, but he’s absolutely gorgeous with them. He likes all of them to be in black, but two of the lobe ones are red and white.
•The whole Batch (is bad-AHH) loves their tattoos being rubbed, they find that when you do, do it, they feel like turning into putty. Heck, they’ll even call off a mission to grab a box of spice just for you to keep doing what you do. And they love it
-Trace over Hunters tattoo and he’ll ask you to marry him, jk, but he loves it very much. He tends to get ticklish when you reach his lips though, he’ll pull away and rub on them with the back of his hand
-Crosshair will do anything for you to massage the out line which is on his right side, but left, if you’re looking at him. If you go just above his temple and back a bit, then rub a finger over it lightly back and forth, you’ll knock him out cold, he won’t wake up until he does himself
-Tech doesn’t look like he has a tattoo, and he doesn’t. But he does find it to be very soothing if you run a thumb over his cheek when he’s sleeping on top of you
-Wrecker, he has a tattoo on his inner bicep, you know their logo? Yeah, that one. It looks like the kind of messy paintbrush tattoo, with their three main colors. It’s so awesome you trace over the jagged lines and he loves it
-Echo doesn’t have a tattoo either, but he does like it when you trace little patterns along his skin, sometimes he’ll concentrate real hard and then realize you spelled his name

If ur open to requests could u do how the members of the bad batch would react to Reader having lots of scars and being insecure about them? I know it’s kind of a heavy topic though so if ur not up to it that’s totally ok!
Hi anon, thank you for the ask! I am indeed open for requests, and if anyone is interested in making one, you can check our this post!
You did well sending this my way; even though they sometimes carry painful reminder, scars are not something to be ashamed of - I think. They play a part in telling your story; wether it be about your clumsiness or battles you fought against someone else or yourself.
I think that's the mindset the boys would have regarding scars - especially since three of them have visible ones.
It can be read as either platonic or romantic, up to you!
TW: scars, mention of self-harm, mention of accidents and surgeries(bad fall, fractured bones, burns), mention of pain and blood, clumsiness, you being insecure and blaming yourself on some occasions for your scars, stabbing and training going a bit wrong
Hunter: clumsiness gone wrong
It's no secret to Hunter that you're very clumsy, he saw you tripping on your feet and dropping mugs and datapads more than any other memeberof the Batch ever did
But he didn't expected you to be that clumsy
"Who did that to you?!" he asked as you took of shirt, revealing barely healed stab wounds and burns
"Uh... I-I did" you barely confessed, looking down. "I tried to train and it went... Well, not so good. "
He came closer to take a look, his fingers stopping a few centimeters aways from your skin, and you couldn't look away, afraid of the contact he could make
You grabbed the closest top you could find and hurried to put it on, hoping for Hunter to drop it, but he didn't
"How did you stab yourself? "
"Hunter, that's not important. It's healed, it's hidden, let's not talk about it anymore." And you left before he could think of an answer
He didn't brought the topic back, until you trained with him, and managed to catch the blade instead of the handle of his knife
"I got it." you told him, trying to keep him there, but he followed you to the fresher and took care of cleaning the wound
"It happens. To the best of us."
You barely chuckled, thinking of all the scars you got because your body Moved faster than your brain, because you couldn't double check were you were going, because you had to get them for stupid reasons instead of cool ones
"I don't think you own this one to knocking your head over a pipe, do you?" you asked as you pointed to his scar above his left brow, and he smiled
"No, I don't. But this one," he took of his arm plate and rolled his sleep up to show a scarred patch of skin on his elbow, "I own it to the corner of our table on Kamino."
"And I have one on my chest- don't tell anyone about it okay?" he caught your eyes with a false sense of seriousness that had you nodding in amusement
"Knife training. I told everyone someone tried to stab me; just never told them who it was you know."
Your eyes widened, but the spark quickly faded away as you realised that it was almost impossible for him to stab himself. That was your level of stupidity, not his
"You don't have to lie to me you know. I know I'm clumsy, it's just... I could have avoided all of it but..."
You shrugged, and Hunter allowed himself to grab your shoulder, firm but nice in his hold
"You got these because you trained. Or because you tripped, or because you didn't look twice before you grabbed something. That's who you are and there's no shame in that. "
You rolled your eyes, but his words were soothing you still
When he was done patching up your hand, he gave it a light kiss and led you out of the refresher
"Careful where you put your feet, little warrior." He gently teased you, and knowing that Hunter - Hunter - still saw you the same - he called you a warrior, even through your clumsiness, warmed your heart
Wrecker: injuries
He’s playful and always find ridiculous stories behind his scars, stories he tells everyone asking him, because being clumsy doesn’t take the cool away and he wants to prove it to you
_
Wrecker wouldn't see the problem at first; he quickly learned to love and be proud of his scar, even if it was the consequence of a mission gone wrong
So when he sees you trying to hide the scars running down your neck and under your shirt with cheap space makeup and a scarf, he asks you why you'd do this
"I don't like them. They're ugly, and they make me feel ugly. They shouldn't be there."
He'd grab your hand, gentle, and would ask you to stop for a minute
"You're not ugly", he'd try to confort you, but you would answer with "that's not how I feel, Wrecker" and though the words are spit to his face, he doesn't feel hurt by them
Your shiny eyes, on the other hand, feel like a stab in his heart; and he asks you to sit with him for a minute, just a minute and he'll leave you be if you really want that
So you sit, reluctant, expecting something along the lines of "don't cry, you're beautiful anyway" blah blah
But Wrecker grabs your hand and gently out it on his face, more precisely on his scarred cheek
"First mission," he starts, "we were sent on a Separatist base to blow some stuff up; the usual you know. A generator exploded next to me. "
He's speaking softly, his tone surprisingly low compared to his loud usual self
"It took some time to get used to it - mostly the blind eye and the weakened hearing - but look at me now."
And his smile is so genuine, so caring that you can't help but feel a pinch in your heart
You feel bad about it, because you called yourself ugly and now you realise he might believe you find him ugly too
"I hope it doesn't sound weird, but... You look good with the scar." You try, and the squeeze around your hand comforts you some more
"I was thinking the same about you. Seems like we could be scar- buddies, what d'ya think?"
You appreciate his effort; you truly do; but you know it will take a while before you can look at the long trails on your skin and realise they don't take away any of your beauty or your worth
"Sounds good to me."
It takes you some time to abandon the scarf you always wear, but you eventually do and Wrecker gives you the biggest, proudest smile ever
He tells you you look like a badass and call you "scar-bud" and you can't help but feel good about it
You stopped buying the cheap space makeup; or at least you don't use it to cover up the scars anymore
One day while you're eating with Wrecker, you tell him the story behind them; it's not an easy one but he's here to support you anyway
Tech: self- harm
It get easier to accept them once you've opened up about their story - and Wrecker's nickname for you plays its role too
_
Tech is a man of reason and logic, so when he notices your arms always covered up, even in very warm climates; and the way you flinch every time something or someone tries to grab your wrist, he deduced you were hiding something
So one day, as the team was celebrating another victory before flying back to Kamino, he pulled you apart and confronted you about it
"What's about your arms, really? "
He takes notice of your uncomfortable look, the way you twist your sleeves to keep them tight against your skin
"Nothing, it's just..."
You're not sure about that; you're scared he might mock or scold you; and though you stopped harming yourself long ago, you didn't need someone to make you feel even more ashamed of your past actions
"Nothing important."
"It's important enough for you to keep it secret." He tells you, and for a second you hate the way he's so curious about everything and anything
"Let's just say we all fought battles in the past, and some of them are not to be proud of."
He frowns a bit, but when the realisation hits him, his eyes widens and he let out a soft "oh"
"Yeah, oh." You try to laugh it off, your heart already filled with the painful reminder that you did that to yourself
But Tech doesn't see it this way; he offers a hand to you, and you look at it for a moment, unsure about his intention
"I won't hurt you, I promise"
You reluctantly let go of your sleeves and he grabs your wrist; you almost flinch when you feel the tissue coming up your arm, revealing your scarred skin
You don't even look at it, it's not something you want to remember; rather you want to bury it far from you
You jolt when you feel a light touch against your arm; and another, and another...
When you dare turning your head, Tech is giving each of the lines a feather-light kiss
"A battle is a battle," he whispers against them, "and your victory is something to be proud of. Though I can understand the difficulty in it."
You can't hold the tears back, but weirdly enough you're not feeling sad
He never tells anyone about that night, or every other similar moment that followed; that decision belongs to you and he made it clear he would never step over your privacy
That helps you get more comfortable about it - with him at least - and sometimes, when the night get long and your mind overthinks, you get up and join him in the cockpit
And if you're only the two of you, you strech your arm his way, and he gently rolls up your sleeves to pepper kiss your skin, telling you that's you're doing great, another win for you today, i'm proud of you
And he goes on with the kisses and the praises until you feel better; and if you don't he'll stay there with you, talking about everything that could possibly interest you to help your mind wander off
And you know that if you ever lose the battle one day, he'll be there to hold you and tell you that sometimes we lose, we fall and it feels wrong; but it's okay, because we can always get back up and fight stronger, harder than before
It takes some time, and a lot of work, but one day you sit in your bed and roll your sleeve up; and you gently kiss your skin
Crosshair: open fractures and surgeries
And you realise that you won today, and for the first time you can look at your scars and feel proud of your victory
_
He doesn't have any visible scar; and to be honest he's the one who carries the least marks because of him being a sniper, and therefore always quite isolated on safer grounds
So at first you didn't feel that comfortable with the idea of him knowing about your scars; you didn't liked them, so why would he?
But one day one a pretty rough mission, part of your armour and blacks were torn apart, and once again you got injured
The knock on the refresher made you jolt, and though you protested when he came in, you didn't had the strength (literally) to throw him out
He sat with you in the shower, a mixture of blood and water sliding on the floor, and brought the medical kit closer to him
"I can do it myself." you spit to him, and though he said nothing verbally, his eyes spoke for him
So you sighed and looked away, because if you didn't you were probably going to cry from the pain and the gutting feeling of being so exposed, so vulnerable in front of him
You expected a snarky comment, something about getting sloppy, careless. You could almost hear him- hear it, if you focused a bit-
"Stop that." he muttered as he washed away the clots around your wounds, and you looked at him, confused
"Stop what? Bleeding out? Thank you I'm trying."
He rolled his eyes, but his touch remained soft, treating and bandaging your wound with care and precision
You tried to move away as soon as he was done, but the ache slowed you down in your movement; which he didn't fail to notice
"Make it easy on yourself, let me help."
You frowned, jungling between the pain of your wound and your older scars getting sensitive again
Sometimes they would hurt like a sting - or a stab wound depending of your tolerance - and you couldn't quite explain it to yourself
"I'm fine. I-" you breathed out a difficult sigh, and Crosshair shook his head to your stubbornness
"Does massaging helps?" He asked, and when you gave him a puzzled look he completed " for the scars."
You nodded, but couldn't help the light start when his fingers gently rubbed on your scared thigh
You let him do his work; and he did surprisingly well, asking where it hurt the most, if you needed a massage somewhere else
"Thank you." you finally whispered as he stroke the large scar on your knee, and you can't help but feel the need to justify it. "Open fracture on both legs. Happened a while back, but... Yeah, I had a few surgeries to fix that. "
He nodded to show you he's listening, and his gentle touches invited you to tell him more about that story
The next time he massaged a scar, it was the one on your back; you told him about your fall on a rock and how it almost broke your spine, and he gave you a slightly worried look
"I'm fine." You reassured him, "I just broke a lot of things in my life, and my bones are no exceptions. "
He never asks about them directly, but he'll always gladly listen to the story you tell him as he rub the pain away
Echo: Burns
It helps you a bit with your confidence, because he always look at you like you're some kind of superior being; being able to survive that much injuries is in itself a miracle for him and he never misses an opportunity to remind it to you
_
He, better than anyone else, understands your struggles. He understand the feeling, the shame and the disgust you have toward the marks on your body and your face
He never brushes your feelings off; instead he listens to you when you rant about them, telling him how unfair it is
You hate the sensation under your fingers; the bumps on your cheek and temple, the spot unable to grow hair anymore, the reflect on the mirror
And Echo knows that, and he is angry because you shouldn't feel that way
So he takes it upon himself to boost your confidence and make you feel good about your body
He starts with pets name, "pretty one" "handsome" "beautiful"; and at first you brush it off, but it slowly grows into you
To the point of smiling at the mere thought of him giving you your food ration or your blaster and spontaneously going "here, handsome"
And you may not love your reflection, but you love Echo, and if he can do that for you then you decide you can do it for him too
So it quickly become a thing between you, pet names and compliments about your appearance, and every moment is a good moment to tell them
Fighting droids? Got your back beautiful!
Eating outside? I'm lucky to be seated with the prettiest person out there.
Laying in bed, unable to sleep? I'll hold you tight until you get your beauty sleep.
Getting out of the refresher, parcels of skin wet and exposed? Kenobi has nothing you could envy.
Sometimes, it get rough. You wake up to the ghost feeling of a sharp blade burning your face, and it takes a while to ground you and ease the sensory flashbacks
But Echo is patient, the same way you are with him when the phantom pain strikes him down, leaving him sobbing and shaking against you
That's when you start to realise you're both similar; so eager to see people love themselves, yet so reluctant to apply it to you
"Do you think we deserved it?" He asks once, still shaken by the pain
"No, we didn't." You confessed, spontaneous, "But it happened anyway. So we might as well..."
And you stop, because it's not something you can vocalize; it's something you just both get, you both feel
And when things are tough, when the reflection twists and the tears threatens to roll down, there's always one of you to whisper "we might as well"
That's the thing you hold onto when you feel terrible; knowing that someone understands
Eventually, things get better for both of you; being able to rely one someone, share the pain and the sarcasm and the love opens up a new future for you; one where you can work through the scars, turn them into something you own rather than something that owns you
You still struggle with the whole "loving your body" thing; but now you don't hate it anymore, and that's already a big step
____
It was really interesting to write! I hope it'll help some of you feel more comfortable about your body and your scars 💗
Also I hope you liked it anon, thank you again for sending this ask!

hello! loved your tbb meta posts (10/10 analyses of the batch and their respective characterizations), but since it wasn't explicitly mentioned -- did you catch the post-s1 interview with jennifer corbett (head writer) and brad rau (exec producer)? their answers about crosshair's chip being out were Interesting (tm) but fairly definitive-sounding, so I'm wondering what your thoughts on it might've been.
Hey there, anon! Thank you—I’m so glad you’ve enjoyed them :D
I’ve heard this info second-hand and ran into one written interview on the topic (idk if it’s the same one you’re thinking of), but my first response is… arguably a reach lol. Not to start off with a tin hat on, but it’s always possible that the writers are lying. Which yes, yes, we have a knee-jerk reaction against the idea of anyone lying for any reason, but in this case, it would be in service of both the writer’s plans and the audience’s enjoyment. Let’s say for the sake of argument that Crosshair’s chip is definitely still in and the entire point of this setup is a double twist: first the reveal that his chip is gone, then the real reveal that it’s actually still in and Crosshair was lied to (among other possibilities). How can the writers discuss him during hiatus without revealing that twist? By playing the current knowledge straight, despite the fact that they know otherwise. Yup, Crosshair’s chip is out. Yup, he chose this 100% willingly. Nothing else to see here, folks! To do otherwise would be to reveal the twist way too early. Even refusing to answer the question, dodging it, would give it all away. Imagine if during a season finale we’re meant to believe that a character is dead and then during hiatus an interviewer asks how the cast will mourn them. If the writer refuses to answer, every fan will realize that Something Is Up and what’s the main possibility here? That they’re not actually dead! Twist spoiled… unless the writer pretends that what the audience currently knows is definitely the truth here.
Taking my tin hat off now, these interviews are one of the main reasons why I’m worried about the writing moving forward. Because despite the paragraph above, I’m by no means convinced that the writers are skillfully keeping up a lie to avoid spoilers. It’s not outside the realm of possibility, but it’s not necessarily likely either. Which leaves us taking their words at face value and that’s… a problem. Because as so many fans have already pointed out, the writing is setting up a twist that, according to these interviews, doesn’t exist. That doesn’t say good things about their intentions for the show vs. what actually ends up on screen and that kind of disconnect becomes frustrating for viewers very quickly. Take the headaches, for example. I’ve seen a couple of fans explain Crosshair’s away using the engine accident: “His face got burned up, of course his head still hurts. You’re reading too much into this.” But imagine for a moment if I’d tried to do the same thing for Wrecker prior to “Battle Scars”: “He gets thrown around and hits his head nearly every episode, of course it hurts. You’re reading too much into this.” Other fans would have—quite rightfully—explained to me how television works and that this repetitive problem is functioning as foreshadowing of a larger problem. With a side of the fact that this is an action show where the characters consistently shrug off their injuries. We’re not supposed to take Wrecker getting thrown around seriously. He’s the brawn of the group, meant to withstand a lot of damage, with any injuries being presented as either #cool (Wrecker shrugs off Fennec’s hits to go after Omega, yeah!) or #funny (Wrecker treats Crosshair shooting him like a badge of honor lol), not something he’s going to have to grapple with in a serious manner. So the audience recognizes the question, what’s more likely? That Wrecker’s headaches are a deliberate visual cue on the part of the writers to tell us that something important is happening, or that suddenly how the genre treats injuries has drastically changed?
It's precisely the same with Crosshair. He’s not the brawn like Wrecker is, but he’s still the action (anti)hero who shrugs off injuries because this is a show interested in more fun, explosive plot, not a deep dive into recovery. (See also: the story doing nothing with Echo’s trauma.) When Crosshair is injured, he’s immediately fighting to get back into a ship and when we next see him he’s passed the recovery stage entirely. There’s only a scar to show that this happened at all. We don’t watch him getting bacta skin grafts, or worrying about his eyesight, or struggling to eat, etc. The point is that he was injured for the purposes of that episode and now he’s not. So why would we think his headaches are a long-term symptom when the show is otherwise not at all interested in writing long-term symptoms? What’s more likely, that this familiar visual cue is being repeated to tell us that this is the chip, just like it was with Wrecker, or that the story is randomly interested in something it never was interested in before?
The audience is right to think that there’s more going on because the show has been written to say, "Something more is going on." The headaches, Crosshair’s refusal to give concrete information, the group conveniently not using Tech’s scanner, the burn scar hiding where the chip’s scar would be, a lack of motivation for the Empire removing the chip, not seeing its removal when the show did include its power being amplified… all of these are deliberate writing choices to set up another reveal. But, if we take the interview at face value and learn that these weren’t deliberate details… then what? The writers are making mistakes? Throwing in “clues” for the hell of it that they never intend to cache in on? Unless there’s some amazing answer here that allows for both these inconsistencies' explanations and the writers’ hard stance—something I personally can’t think up—then we’re left with is a pretty serious flaw in the show. A flaw that’s going to undermine the audience’s trust in everything we get from here on out. The next time we see something that feels like a cool setup/reveal, half the fandom will be going, “Yes! It totally means that ___ is going to happen!!” while the other half will be going, “… does it? Because we thought things were happening with Crosshair and that went nowhere.” Writers have to tackle the implications of what they’ve put on screen. Otherwise, the story falls apart.
So yeah, I’m aware of those hard “His chip is out and this is his choice” statements and, frankly, they make me nervous for season two. Because what the show needs is to engage with what we actually got in the finale: an ambiguous state of Crosshair’s chip, a number of hints that it might still be in there, and an ethical dilemma that, so far, hasn’t acknowledged how much of an influence the group’s decisions have had on Crosshair’s. I tackled most of this in the first analysis, but something I didn’t unpack there was the “choice” of not leaving with them. I mean yes, by all exact definitions—and if we accept that the chip really isn’t there—then Crosshair absolutely had free will in that moment to do as he pleased. But life is way more complicated than that. Imagine for a moment that I put two candy bars in front of you. “You can have whichever one you’d like,” I say. You reach for the one on the left and I glare, hard. I scoff at you. I mutter about your choices, your personality, your flaws, and your mistakes. So you reach for the one on the right instead and I’m… neutral. Okay then. Right candy bar it is. “They could have chosen the one on the left” someone watching claims. “Nothing was stopping them. No one put a gun to their head!” And yeah, the concept of “stopping them” was never that extreme… but the more compassionate, nuanced look acknowledge that some measure of “stopping them” did exist. Insults. Cruelty. A clear indication that one choice was wrong and the other was right. That’s one hell of an influence, even if it's not as formidable as a gun or a chip.
And that’s what Crosshair is dealing with. Yes, joining the Empire is clearly wrong and yes, a non-chipped Crosshair has free will to walk away from it… but walking towards TBB was never presented as a real option for him. He saw that through their inaction when they never came back for him. Then in Hunter’s refusal to admit that they’d made a mistake in leaving him behind. Wrecker putting all responsibility on his shoulders, despite knowing what the chip does to someone. Tech backing him up and framing this situation as stemming solely from Crosshair’s base personality—“severe and unyielding.” It’s seen in the always-loving Omega walking away from him in the barracks, in Crosshair’s hesitation to follow them to safer ground (and boy oh boy, do I have sad headcanons about that), and most especially, in their reactions to him saving Omega. What Crosshair learns in that moment is that they honestly believe that he, not the Empire's chip, but he would shoot Hunter and that saving their little sister is not a point in his favor. It's met only with glares and a need to disarm himself. They don’t trust him and actions that should produce trust are outright ignored, so… where can they go from here? Nowhere, according to TBB’s actions. They’re not giving Crosshair any wiggle room, any hope that these relationships can be repaired, or any acknowledgement that they had a hand in things getting this bad. So when they offer to let Crosshair come with them—which is very significantly presented as an obligation, not something they want—he knows that offer is BS. Whatever their real feelings might be (because the found family show obviously wants us to believe that everyone loves each other), their actions have said loud and clear that they don’t want him. That yes, he could technically walk onto that ship… but that it would be the “wrong” decision accompanied by more insults, scoffs, and pressure to do otherwise. That once he's there, he'll be treated only as a threat with any good deeds ignored. It's an awful offer outside of it being the morally correct decision when it comes to leaving the Empire... so Crosshair reaches for the right candy bar instead.
That very long tangent out of the way, THIS is what season two has to grapple with, along with all that ambiguity and the existence of these "The chip is still here" hints. But the interviews don’t seem to acknowledge that all of this exists, instead framing things as if we’d ended the finale knowing for sure that the chip is out and had watched a season where Crosshair is 100% responsible for everything that’s happened, no Empire or TBB influence involved. The way the interviews frame things doesn’t match up with the text, so I can only hope this is an example of bad communication, or the writers keeping a spoiler under wraps, because otherwise… season two might be frustrating to watch, with fans continually going, “Why are you ignoring that this happened? Why are you pretending that all of this is simpler than it actually is?”

57 Thoughts I Had While Watching Part 2 of The Bad Batch Season Finale (Spoilers ahead!!)
I do like how Part 2 picks right up where Part 1 left off. I prefer that method since it makes it feel like one connected piece. Like how Rogue One ended where A New Hope kicks off.
Ya know, I wouldn’t mind the thunderstorms.
Okay the explosions are beautifully animated. The blues, the sparks, the orange flames. And I like how they’re realistically placed. So many shows with explosions don’t have them right close to the characters, even if they’re supposed to be all around them.
This episode is kinda darkly lit. Not like Battle of Winterfell in Game of Thrones.
Okay yeah, that clone reporting the destruction…thats some sadness there.
That inner alarm has me thinking “oh shit my flight has changed gates again hasn’t it!!”
Damn, imagine being unconscious and wake up in a flooding compartment with a droid and that one kid who took your place.
Okay how strong is that knife. I kinda expect it to break in half. Wrecker would
probably try to trade with Hunter after that.
The shot of the burning buildings on the water is so beautiful too. The reflections were well done.
About AZ being like “oh hey homie, you survived being blown up but now you’re drowning. And I’m watching while this literal child tries to move metal debris off of you.”
Okay Omega using her bow like that is genius. But please wee baby don’t hit Crosshair by accident. And the way the bolts underwater were animated. 🤌🏻🤌🏻
And Crosshair being all “wtf?!”
Dang Omega is so take charge here.
Okay the sprays of water from the door is so well done. And omg they just pop outta there lmao!!!! About how Omega is caught and they just let Crosshair slide on the floor.
Haha Crosshair being like “Hunter, you fucker did you break something?!”
I really wish it wasn’t so darkly lit, but it does bring a sense of realism. The power is out, so what we’re able to see is what the characters are able to see with flashlights. Plus I’m sure this would look different on my TV than iPad.
The music is so pretty, so emotional. Oh damn poor AZ.
Oh never mind. He’s good.
Crosshair quit being a poop and follow them please.
Echo and that smell lmao.
“Blind allegiance makes you a pawn. A real leader protects his squad.”
Huh. Interesting. But isn’t blind allegiance what the clones had in the Republic? Isn’t that what Clone Force 99 had in the Republic? At least mostly. Some clones didn’t have that obviously, like Cut.
Ooohh Crosshair’s expression when Hunter knocked his shoulder. That seemed like surprise. There is something to that.
Hmmmmmm I’m with Crosshair on that. Going through a glass tunnel with cracks in it hundreds of feet below the surface would be a no from me. Also, what about water pressure? Is that not a thing there? Like wouldn’t you get a massive headache traveling through that? Or maybe not….idk.
Oh fuck Wrecker letting Crosshair know what’s what. I do like that he’s finally expressing how he feels. I’ve always thought there was more of a brotherly relationship between Wrecker and Crosshair than Crosshair had with the others. And Wrecker has a point, Crosshair didn’t even try to come back to them. Of course that really isn’t a fair statement either I guess. Wrecker should remember how he couldn’t control what he did when his chip kicked on.
And Tech jumping in and saying that Crosshair has always been “severe and unyielding” is a good way to let us know a bit more of what’s normal behavior for Crosshair. I like how he’s reminded Wrecker that some things Crosshair can’t help due to just how he is (likely a byproduct of the enhancement experiments).
“Understanding you does not mean I agree with you.” Ugh if only more people had this mindset. Also, the whole “why are you defending me?” sounds like Tech doesn’t usually leap to Crosshair’s defense (even though that’s not what he’s doing here). Which further makes me think that the brotherly relationship that usually exists between team members (like Domino squad eventually, Rex/Echo/Fives/Kix/Jesse/Hardcase/Tup) doesn’t exist here between all the guys. It’s more sporadic. Crosshair seems to get along better with Wrecker (in their own way, teasing and their droid death counts) than he does with Tech.
Also perhaps they should not stop so often…ya know, just in case the tunnel implodes.
Oh nope nope nope. No underwater tubes and sea monsters for Bethany.
AZ is so peppy. Like he sounds so positive when relaying bad news. He sounds like the kinda droid that would be like “good news is you have great cholesterol, bad news is you have cancer. But yay no diabetes!”
Oh yeah I kinda forgot Hunter wasn’t with them they first got to the private lab. And oh damn, Omega is technically older than them. The whole accelerated aging thing is just so unfair.
Well we really couldn’t expect a glass tunnel to fully survive aerial bombardment. Better start swimming fuckers!!
Damn, someone find AZ a charger! I bet Tech has one for his datapad that boy is attached too. He seems like the type to never be without a phone charger. He also seems like the type to not want to share it because no one else in the squad treats their charge cords with respect.
Dad gum Crosshair, I didn’t hear you spouting off any bright ideas. Geez, who peed in your wheaties?!
Hunter takes things too personally?! Weren’t you being all Salty McSourpus over Hunter leaving your ass on Kamino for shooting at him and the others? Were you not taking that too personally? But kudos to Hunter for reminding him the Empire peaced the fuck out and left him to die on Kamino. Although…Crosshair does sound like he’s trying not to care about that. Like it does bother him but he’s acting like he don’t give a fuck.
“The Empire will control the entire Galaxy. And I’m going to be a part of it.” Uhm, sir…you’re currently in a secret lab at the bottom of the ocean with no means of escape right now. How do you plan to be a part of the Empire from down here? Like, are you going to establish the underwater branch of the Empire and assert the Emperor’s control over the sea critters?
Ugh Omega trying so hard to bond with Crosshair. Like the parallel between this scene and the holding cell scene. And her thinking she was wrong about the chip making him behave like a dick. Oh sweet baby, you’re not wrong. He still has that thing. But he has always been a dick per Tech’s words earlier. But she’s trying so hard to show him the similarities between them.
I’ve noticed Crosshair does a lot of pushing people away. Like he’s been doing that with Hunter and Omega this whole season. Speaking harshly to them both (although I think some of the things he says to Hunter, he’s always wanted to say). But I think it’s more that he wants to avoid disappointing them, so he shoves them away to prevent that feeling. Like perhaps he thinks he isn’t worthy to be around them, that they’ll be better off without him around.
Oh fuck, look at you contributing now Mr. I Am Going To Complain About Other People’s Ideas.
Did they have to draw straws to see who got their own pod and who had to team up with who? Like,
Hunter: “Someone has to go with Tech.”
Crosshair, Wrecker: “Not it!”
Echo: “not it, fuck I wasn’t fast enough.”
Oh the wee child is getting her own pod. Okay then.
Of course Hunter and Crosshair get doubled up. I bet they argue the whole time.
Crosshair: “stop breathing all the air!!”
Hunter: “stop standing on my foot!!”
Crosshair: “well it’s not my fault you have Sasquatch feet!”
Oh damn. Well bye Omega. It was nice knowing you. Crosshair probably has your eulogy already written.
Hm, so Tech never shared his datapad charge cord with AZ. Bummer.
Awww poor AZ. He was a good droid. We’ll remember how he OMG OMEGA WHAT THE FUCK?!!???
Again is water pressure not a thing in Star Wars?
Sweetie. He’s metal. You won’t be strong enough to pull him along with you.
Oh fuck Crosshair! Oh damn the look on his face is like “Hunter, get you ugly ass face out of my shot.” Oh damn, boy has got some good eyesight, I want a piece of that.
Bruh, that’s gotta hurt. You just saved the kid they all love and they got you at blaster point. Buuuuuut at the same time you haven’t expressed the most positive attitude towards said kid either. So maybe they have a good reason to think you’d shoot her? Still. Damn. That’s gotta hurt, since if it had been the good ol’ days they’d be like “nice shot buddy!”
Hunter looks more wary than upset honestly. Like he isn’t sure why Crosshair did that, but he’s not sure if Crosshair would want him expressing gratitude either. Hunter doesn’t seem to know how to treat him any more. Crosshair belittles him and speaks harshly to him, but then saves Omega. It’s almost like old Crosshair is still in there, knowing how attached the team is to Omega. Even if he does think she’s not in the safest environment with them.
Oh…omg what is this?! I just noticed, no rain on Kamino….AND SUNSHINE?! Like is that a fucking sunrise??!!?? Oh shit you guys there is symbolism here!!! Like a new start or something impossible has happened. Like there has never been sunshine on Kamino, it’s always stormed. Always. Always and forever it has done that. But after the destruction of Tipoca City, the rains cease and the sunshine comes out. Like….omg guys. It’s pretty!!
Interesting. Omega seems sad that a place she didn’t want to ever return to is gone. But I guess that’s probably the notion that she’s essentially homeless setting in. That the only home she’s had (before Clone Force 99) is gone.
Also, I have this theory that Ghost Fives probably travels with Echo, and he’d likely be like “good! Fuck that place. Killing Tup there and all. Bitches.”
Echo: “stfu Fives, she’s sad okay.”
Honestly I’m not surprised Crosshair refused their offer to come with them. He has his pride and I feel like he doesn’t want to admit aligning with the Empire was a mistake. That he was wrong and Hunter was right. Especially after being all Pro-Empire and talking about how they’re going to be what the Galaxy needs.
“Consider us even.” GIRL he admits it! He was saving YOU!! YOU! Not the dumb droid, YOU!!!!
His face says it all when they pull away. Like he regrets not going with them, but he can’t bring himself to stay with them. He’s really conflicted right now. He has programming in his head telling him one thing and another portion of his mind reminding him that Tech, Wrecker, Hunter, and even Echo care about him. That they’re a team. He even wanted them to join the Empire so they could all get back together. He does want to be with them, but it’s going to take time to get passed the war in his head.
Oh damn, Nala Se and some Commando buddies. Yeah there’s something up with her. She seems to have gained a lot out of this. Making herself more important than Lama Su and likely more important than the other scientists from Kamino. I wonder if this was her plan all along. It’s so hard to tell what Kaminoans are thinking because they don’t express emotions facially or even vocally.
I read a post somewhere about Nala Se doing childish science experiments. Like the baking soda/vinegar volcano. And now I can’t get the image out of my head of her teaching like a high school chemistry class where you get to do those classic science fair experiments. Things exploding, clones accidentally gassing each other at a table. Someone betting someone else 5 credits to drink a solution.

thinking about college au bad batch
under the cut: their years, majors, extracurriculars, and how i meet them :^)
their actual years probably vary with their clone age which we dont have but for now:
wrecker - 2nd year, physiology, was an athlete on a sport scholarship but got in a really nasty accident that made him quit. wants to study physical therapy. sleeps with lula still and no one dares to make fun of him for ot.
tech - 2nd year, ends up taking a fifth year bc he's double majoring and minoring while doing undergraduate research - physics, chemE, linguistic minor
echo - 2nd year design/architecture major because this boy has so much common sense that he can put to good use about how to make shit easily accessible. i met him in a seminar class about career exploration when we were freshmen and i convince him to take more weird GEs with me afterwards (flower arrangement, sex, and witches <- these are three separate classes)
hunter - 3rd year, im really not sure what his major would be but he's naturally caring so i get the vibes that he might be a sociology major interested in either social work or law. he volunteers with social workers on weekends
crosshair - 3rd year (on track to graduate early), econ or business or psychology? i've probably caught beef with him at one point and it's really awkward when we're in the same room together
none of them are seniors bc i want college to last forever and never worry about graduating. in this au im a 2nd year!
we live in college town and all of them except echo live together in the apartment complex down the street from me. i get a ride from hunter once in a while when he sees me at the bus stop :^)
i think echo would live with rex, fives, hardcase, and jesse but meets the bad batch through other means.
i think echo gets into a really nasty accident over the summer and meets wrecker through physical therapy. he meets hunter at some volunteer event i asked him to come with me too. we meet tech at a seminar by some visiting professor and the lab i work in collabs with the lab he works in so we see each other at meeting.
i meet wrecker and crosshair at frat party. me and wrecker hit it off immediately! crosshair makes a mean comment at my friend puking in the bushes but he calls out a frat bro sneaking something into someone's drink... he makes a lot of snarky comments at me >.> i imagine that the beef we have eventually culminates into a fight when we're both having bad days then we have to have a cheesy heart-to-heart. afterwards we have a mutual respect for each other. he graduates early but still likes my instagram posts and replies to my snapchat stories with something snarky (he wont admit the only reason he doesnt delete it is because he's on my private story and he really likes it).

Summer of Whump Day 7 [Storms/Sunburns]
Tumblr media
Okay so we’re just gonna be a day behind alright everyone? Anyways have a longer fic to compensate.
Ω
 Omega smiled as she watched Pillow walk around her room with her doll perched on his back. The salamander had, for the past three weeks, stayed by her side, keeping her company while she recovered. His presence was a welcome one, seeing how tense the ship had become. Something had offset the usual harmony of their group, but no one would tell Omega what. Whenever she asked someone, they’d just give her a smile that she could tell was fake and told her “not to worry about it”.
 From her little tucked away corner, she could observe the ship’s other occupants. Echo and Tech were doing what they had been doing ever since they had gotten on the ship, which was just barely tolerating each other’s existence. The two squadmates stayed as far away as possible from each other, which made it difficult to do group activities. Before the ‘something’ had happened, she’d used to help them make (mostly) edible meals every third night. She’d enjoyed learning about the chemistry of cooking and how different flavors went together. It had been her bonding time with them, and she missed it.
 Hunter was cleaning his blaster and Wrecker was, to her concern, sleeping again. He’d been doing that a lot recently, and it bothered her to think that he was in pain for most of the day. She herself wasn’t feeling too great, nearly dying from a landslide did that to you, but she couldn’t imagine feeling like this all the time. How he managed to still smile at her, she’d never know. She wished that she could help him somehow.
 A light bulb went off over her head, and she reached towards a small pile of datapads that she was always trying to add to. There was a datapad about the local wildlife and plants on the planet that they were on in the pile somewhere. Tech had given it to her when they had been staying in the medical centre, the two of them bored out of their minds. Shuffling through the pile, she easily plucked out the one she wanted. Patting the space beside her, she began to scroll through the information on Scarif’s plant life. Pillow waddled over to her side, his head leaning on her knee. He’d grown in size a bit, but not enough to where it was really noticeable. She only noticed it because Pillow spent most of his time with her.
 “There! That’s what we need, Pillow.” She said, showing her companion the image she was looking at. It was a bright yellow flower with purple-tipped petals. The description said that it was often used to treat migraines.
 “Come on Pillow, let’s go see if we can find some of these flowers. It’ll help Wrecker feel better, and, between you and me?” She leaned down and whispered to the amphibian. “I’m getting really tired of being in the same ship as everyone else right now.”
 Pillow huffed in agreement and crawled onto her shoulders, draping himself around her neck like an exotic feather boa. Making no effort to conceal her leaving but also not drawing attention to herself, Omega made her way to the ship’s exit. Her leg wasn’t exactly pleased with the movement, but she put aside her discomfort. Checking the datapad for the general location of the flowers, she and Pillow set off into the tropical forest.
  Meanwhile, inside the Havoc Marauder…
  Tech rubbed at his eyes, tired of reading through an endless slog of rumors and unfounded reports of Jedi sightings. His efforts had not gone completely unrewarded, as multiple sources had cautiously whispered about a Jedi having been glimpsed on a distant moon. Selrahc Eluos, that is what they said her name was. It wasn’t much, but they would be unlikely to find much else.
 “Hunter,” He called, getting the brooding clone’s attention, “I may have found something.”
 Hunter didn’t look too pleased with Tech’s announcement but came over anyways.
 “There have been reports of a Jedi hiding out on a remote moon called Una Vere. Of course, seeing as how these reports exist, she wont be there long.” He explained, turning in his seat to look at Hunter.
 “Hmm. How long will it take us to get there?” He half muttered the question.
 “About a day at lightspeed. We’ll need to leave right away.” Tech stood and began to input the coordinates.
 “Are you at least going to tell her?”
 Echo’s voice caused the two clones to pause. Their squadmate was leaning against the doorway, his arms crossed in displeasure.
 “We don’t even know if the Jedi will still be there when we arrive, and I don’t want to upset her before I absolutely have to.” Hunter replied.
 “You coward. You’re not even going to give her the chance to voice her opinion on this?” Echo’s voice was venomous, and Hunter knew that he had tread carefully here, lest another fight break out.
 “Echo, this is for her own good. She’ll be happier with someone who can help her with her Force abilities.” He said, his voice gentle.
 “The abilities that we don’t even know she has?” Echo countered.
 “Oh, open your eyes Echo! It’s obvious she’s not a normal clone.” Tech snapped.
 “We’re not normal clones!” Echo shouted back.
 “You know what I mean! She doesn’t belong with us!”
 “Yeah? Well I’m starting to think that I don’t belong with you either!”
 “Maybe you don’t!”
 “ENOUGH!” Hunter’s yell was thunderous. “I am sick and tired of you two arguing!”
 “Well you know what? I think I’m sick and tired of you. Both of you. Give me a call when you’ve figured out how to stop being such a moronic, child-abandoning nerf herders!” Echo threw his arms up into the air and stormed out of the ship, growling under his breath.
 A soft crunch made him pause and look down. There were… picked flowers on the ground? He recognized them; they grew on vines nearby and could be used to help treat headaches and migraines. How had they gotten here?
 Wait…
 He scanned around the ground, terror welling up in him when he spotted small footprints around the ship’s exit. He ran back into the ship, ignoring Hunter and Tech’s confused yells. He made his way up to Omega’s room, hoping that, for once, things would go right for them.
 The small space was empty, no sign of Omega or Pillow being there at all.
 “Kriff!” He yelled, sprinting as best he can on his still healing leg back the way he had came. Before he can make it, however, Hunter catches his prosthetic arm.
 “What’s wrong?” He might be angry, but his brotherly instincts stamp down the smoldering emotion for the time being.
 “Omega’s not here. I think she heard us arguing.” He says as he pulls away. His anger hasn’t been calmed, and it mixes easily into his worry.
 Hunter goes pale. “Shit.” He curses, stepping back as Echo disappears from sight.
 “Mnh, wha’s goin’ on?”
 Wrecker rubs his eyes as he half sits up in his bunk. He looks to Hunter for answers.
 “We were having an argument about, well, you know what, and it seems like Omega came around when we were exploding at each other, and now she’s gone.” Hunter explained as he started to get his gear on.
 “Oh no!” Hunter’s words woke Wrecker right up, and the burly man joined Hunter in getting into his armor.
 “What’s going on? Why are you getting your armor on?” Tech appeared in the doorway, his cheeks still flush from the argument.
 “Omega heard us arguing and ran off. Echo’s going after her, but I don’t want him re-injuring his leg. He’s mad, and that means he wont be thinking straight.” Hunter said, putting his helmet on.
 “Oh Maker.” Tech said, covering his mouth with a hand. In an instant, his hateful words hit him in the face like a blaster bolt. He hadn’t meant anything that he’d said, he’d just wanted to hurt Echo, which made him feel like the lowliest scum.
 Grabbing his own armor, he made a mental promise to apologize to Echo. Actually, he’d need to apologize to Omega too, considering the fact that what he had said, out of context, could be and likely had been taken entirely the wrong way. Thinking about the argument made his chest hurt and his stomach twist, but he didn’t try and find some way to resolve himself of guilt. The feelings were everything he deserved.
   Pillow stared sadly as Warm One cried, her face streaming with tears as she ran. He didn’t blame her for crying, the words she had heard would bring any fledgling to tears. The other members of her pack had been steadily growing more and more tense and angry, especially Shiny Eyes and Grey Arm. Ever since Warm One and Shiny Eyes had recovered from their accident, the air had become sour with displeasure, sadness, anger, and building resentment. It was not a good environment for someone like Warm One, and he had wanted nothing more than to take her out of their flying metal den. Today, he’d gotten his wish, but at a terrible price.
 The adult humans had said terrible things! They were going to leave Warm One all alone! They were supposed to protect her, not abandon her! She had seen them as family, and until now, he’d thought they felt the same. Clearly, he’d been wrong. Well, perhaps not about all of them. Grey Arm had been very loud when he had been yelling at Half Skull and Shiny Eyes; he had wanted Warm One to stay. He wasn’t sure about Strong One, the human’s thoughts and feelings were often muddled by pain, but he hadn’t argued like Grey Arm had, so he certainly wasn’t in Pillow’s good graces.
 Pillow felt a pressure begin to build up inside his chest. A storm was coming. Normally, he’d be overjoyed at the prospect of rain; it had been so long since he’d experienced a good rainstorm, but Warm One had nothing to protect her from the rain and wind, which meant that they had a problem.
 He felt a flash of frustration run through his small body. Before his imprisonment on that barren, icy wasteland, he had possessed a beautiful, strong pair of wings. If he had them now, he could shield Warm One from the storm. Force, he could carry her above it, show her the world the way he had once seen it. He resented his captors for chaining him up and leaving him on that damnable planet to die, but he also understood why they did. He had not been a kind creature, and the names people had given him were accurate. The Great Sky Scourge, The White Beast, Death’s Shadow. All fitting. All horrible.
 But Warm One had never seen him as any of those things. She had given him a new name, Pillow, the human word for a squishy, soft, white thing that they slept on. He felt honored to be given such a name, because to him, it was a chance to start over. He’d been weakened by the lack of food, reduced to his larval state once again, but now that he had her, he’d have the chance to regain his former glory and use it to do good. They’d do it together. If her pack was too stupid to see her Light, he’d take care of her, just as she had taken care of him.
 All he had to do was wait until it was time to metamorphosize. And, of course, keep both her and himself safe from this storm.
 Suddenly, he was no longer around her neck. He landed in the mud, sliding a few feet away. Once he’d blinked away the mud, he realized that Warm One had tripped! He called out to her, running as fast as he could back to her as raindrops began to fall around them. He nudged her, helping her up. He missed the once incredible strength he used to have.
 Warm One picked him up as she stood, her face turning red where she had hit the ground. Her eyes were red, and tears still dripped down her face. He crooned sadly, trying to send comforting feelings over their bond. She had created the bond without meaning too on the day they met, and while he didn’t like being able to feel her pain, it was useful in moments like these.
 “Oh Pillow, wh-why don’t they want me? What did I-I do wrong?” She cried, hugging him to her chest. “I-I thought- I loved-” She sobbed even harder, not being able to finish her sentence.
 “No!” He cried, nuzzling her. “It’s not you! They are being stupid! The most stupid!”
 She didn’t understand him, of course, but she felt his feelings, and that was enough to get him a brief, watery smile. She sniffed and looked around, unsure of where to go. She considered following the path, but ultimately decided to go off into the tropical brush. Pillow wound himself around her neck again, keeping an eye out for any danger. The rain was growing stronger, and they’d need shelter soon.
  After about 20 minutes of running and stumbling, Warm One spotted a cave on the face of a cliff. She managed to get them up there, collapsing once they were inside. Pillow shook off the water that clung to his skin before returning to Warm One. She was wet and kind of cold, but not like she had been when they had still been on his planetary prison. If he kept her warm, she’d be okay.
 She was leaning against the wall, curling up into a small ball. He wiggled his way into her lap and buried into her stomach, purring softly. He remembered his mother purring to settle him and his clutchmates, so he figured it was worth a shot.
 She laughed quietly, and he felt amusement cross the bond. He smiles at that, settling down to sleep.
     Omega slowly opened her eyes, rubbing the sleep out of them. She went to stretch, but found herself spinning. With a yelp, she waved her arms about, trying to right herself. Her surroundings had changed completely. What had previously been a damp cave was now a void of neutral blues and purples. Occasionally, she would see a flicker of light appear.
 “You’re here!”
 A voice suddenly rang out from all around her, sounding like every voice ever spoken and at the same time, only one person. Omega shrunk back in fear, unable to tell where the voice was coming from.
 “Oh, don’t be frightened! I’m just so excited to finally be able to talk to one of my children!” The voice said, almost sounding sheepish.
 “Who- who are you? Where are you?” Omega squeaked.
 “I am known as the Force, little star. I am everywhere.” The voice explained.
 “You’re… what?” Omega held her head, the information making her brain hurt.
 “I know its a lot, and I wouldn’t usually be this direct, but I haven’t gotten the chance to truly talk to one of my children in so long! Even my brightest star could only feel my presence, and he has become so dim lately…” The Force sounded… sad.
 “Your brightest star?” Omega asked, crossing her legs.
 “Yes. I created him from stardust, love, and the wildness of nature itself. He was wonderful, and he would have saved them all, but he was taught to suppress his feelings and push down his troubles. He loved so strongly, at that made it hard for him to let go. In the end, a poison in human form snuffed out his Light, throwing him into the Dark.” The formless presence became somber, and Omega could feel its sadness.
 “But you,” It said suddenly, the sadness being replaced with cautious hope, “I can still save you. I did not create you, that wonderful honor was taken from me, but I can see your Light, little star. It is new and bright and shining, just as his was long ago. What’s better, I can truly, wholly speak to you, even if it’s just in dreamstate.”
 “I don’t understand. I’m not a Jedi, so why are you interested in me?” Omega asked.
 “Jedi is a recent concept, at least to me. Sith is the same. They are often people who have gone too far into the Light or the Dark, and have become blind to the Balance. Any living thing can have a strong connection with me. It just so happens that you were created with that exact purpose.” The Force explained.
 “What does that mean? What can I do?” Omega questioned, not sure how to process this.
 “That depends on you, little star. Many of my children use their abilities to help people, heal them, or create bonds that will last a lifetime and beyond. However, you can also use it to harm others, to defend yourself and your loved ones, or simply hurt them because you want to. That path is a slippery slope, however, and I must ask that you be careful with how you use your anger.” The Force’s voice was soft, but held a note of warning.
 “I will be, I promise.” Omega said, not wanting to do something that could really hurt someone.
 “Don’t fear your anger, my wondrous child. Sometimes, anger is necessary. Control is the key.” The Force explained, and Omega nodded.
 “Okay, okay I think I understand a bit now.” She said, rubbing the back of her neck. “Um, if I’ve always been able to communicate with you, why did you only just start talking to me now?”
 “The stress of your life recently has been keeping you closed off from me. Today, your mental walls broke.”
 “Oh.” Omega felt her heart sink at the thought of what had happened earlier. She’d just come back from collecting the flowers, which had actually been quite close by, only to hear shouting coming from within the ship. She’d heard Tech  angrily say that she didn’t belong with them, but not much else beyond that, as she had turned and ran almost immediately.
 “You believe that they hate you.” It wasn’t a question, but Omega nodded anyways.
 “I can understand why, but you have it all wrong, little star. They love you. They love you so much that I don’t even believe my most Darkness-blinded children could tear you away from them.”
 Omega blinked away tears that had begun to form, her confusion nearly palpable.
 “They have figured out that you have a connection to me. Some of them believe that you would be better off under the care of a Jedi. They worry that they will not be good enough for you.” Omega feels a ripple of annoyance go through her, although it is not her own. “Sometimes my children can be a bit ignorant, and because they do not share a connection like we do, I cannot tell them this. The Jedi ruined my brightest star, my Anakin. They seek peace and order, but life is not meant to be peaceful or controlled. Life is chaos, wild and free. That is what many of my children fail to understand. To walk the path of the Jedi is to practically shun life itself, and the Sith are even worse. They actively destroy life, disrupting the balance. I want you as far away from that mess as possible.”
 “So, they do want me? I didn’t do anything wrong?” Omega questioned.
 “No, starlight. You’ve made their lives better. I can feel their worry for you right now, they are terrified to lose you.” The Force then began to expand, and suddenly Omega was struck with wave after wave of worry and grief. She bared her teeth in sympathy.
 “I know that they care for you, but they must learn that they are your chosen family. Not the Jedi, not another family, them. Until they fall asleep, let them worry. Let them experience what life will be like if they break the still fragile bond that you all share. I will find a way to make a connection with them.”
 Omega wasn’t sure she liked that plan. “I don’t want them to suffer, and I don’t want to be apart from them! Isn’t there something else we could do?”
 The Force seemed to consider her request. “Perhaps, but you will have to find a way to convince them that this is my will.”
 Omega put a hand on her chin, thinking. “Can you control the weather?”
 “I have some sway over certain aspects.”
 “Okay, I’ve got an idea…”
     “OMEGA!”
 Echo’s throat felt raw, the muscles sore from him screaming to be heard over the roaring storm winds. He ignored the pain. He had to find her.
 “OMEGA, WHERE ARE YOU?!”
 “Echo?”
 Echo fixed his expression into a glare as he turned. The other members of the Bad Batch emerged from the storm-darkened jungle, their armor slick with rain.
 “What are you lot doing out here?” He snapped.
 “Looking for you and Omega. Echo, you’re hurt. Go back to the ship.” It was Hunter who spoke first. Echo, still hurt from earlier, looked disdainfully at the other man.
 “No. I’m finding Omega, and I’m not going anywhere until I know she’s safe. Now get out of here before you scare her off again.” He said coldly, wincing as he put weight on his injured leg.
 “Echo, please. You can’t stay out here, you’ll get sick.” Tech said, stepping forward.
 “Like you care! You made your feelings perfectly clear back there.” Echo turned away from the group, his eyes becoming a bit wet as his hurt feelings threatened to spill out. “We’re not batchmates. You don’t have to pretend to like me. Once I find Omega, you’ll never have to see me again.”
 “Echo, no!” Tech’s voice hitched in panic. “You’re my brother, batchmate or not, I still love you! I’m so sorry for the things I said earlier. I was angry and I knew they would hurt and I said them anyways because I was being an inconsiderate jackass. I don’t expect you to forgive me, but please don’t make me watch another one of my brothers die. We’ve lost so many already, and we’re going to loose so many more, but I don’t think I could handle it if you were one of them.”
 Tears pooled in Tech’s eyes underneath his helmet, and his heart strained to cope with the stress his wild emotions were causing. Echo was still for a minute, then slowly turned around, his eyes wide, but free of anger.
 “Y’mean it?” His voice was quiet and small, and it reminded Tech so much of the nights they’d spent comforting Hunter and Crosshair when they were much younger. Their enhanced traits made the darkness of the room scary sometimes, and despite the fact that he was the youngest of his batch, he’d been comforting them right alongside Wrecker.
 Tech nodded, and in the moment he had been temporarily blinded by a flash of lightning, Echo had crossed the distance and pulled Tech into a hug. Tech froze up for a split second, before wrapping his arms around Echo. Hunter and Wrecker were there in an instant, joining in on the moment of affection.
 “’m sorry too. I shouldn’t have yelled at you an’ Hunter.” Echo mumbled.
 “No, we were being stupid and sneaky about things. I already knew how miserable that made her, and yet I wanted to send her away anyways. We all want what’s best for Omega, but leaving her with someone else isn’t an idea I should have entertained.” Tech replied.
 “Thank the Maker! I thought I was actually going to have to do go with its plan.”
 The Bad Batch members separated and turned towards the forest beside them. Omega stepped out of the brush, an agitated Pillow sitting on her rain-soaked head. The amphibian seemed to be displeased by their very existence. She smiled weakly.
 “Omega!” The group shouted happily. The young girl rushed into Echo’s waiting arms, pressing her head into his chest. She shivered as powerful emotions welled up inside her, her still red eyes becoming wet again.
 “Oh adiik, vi're olar. Vi're olar.” Echo’s voice was full of relief and warmth and comfort,  and even if Omega couldn’t really understand what his words meant, she felt their soothing nature.
 “Omega, I’m so, so sorry for what I said earlier. We never wanted to leave you, we just-” Omega managed to get a hand free and waved Tech off.
 “You wanted to take me to a Jedi so that I could learn to use the Force, I know.” She said, smiling at him. “I know you worry about me, but please don’t ever think that I’ll be better of anywhere besides with all of you. I love you guys.”
 Tech blinked, stunned. The other clones shared his confusion and his surprise.
 “W-we love you too, and we’re sorry we didn’t tell you that before, but how did you know about the Jedi?” Hunter asked, kneeling down to be eye level with Omega. He resisted the urge to pull her into a protective hug when he saw her shiver.
 “I’ll show you! Here, hold Pillow. Careful, though. I’m pretty sure he hasn’t forgiven you yet.” Omega said, handing the amphibian over. Pillow growled at Hunter, baring his teeth.
 “Okay, watch this.” She said, cupping her hands around her mouth. “HEY FORCE! STRIKE TWO TREES WITH LIGHTNING IF WE JUST HAD A DREAM CONVERSATION!”
 In an instant, two trees on either side of Omega were set ablaze by twin bolts of lightning. Hunter grabbed Omega on instinct and pulled her away from the burning plants, the rest of his brothers backing up rapidly.
 “Woah!” Wrecker shouted, his hands flying up into the air.
 Echo stared awestruck at the trees, then at a grinning Omega.
 “What the hell was that?” He asked.
 “The Force! Turns out I can talk to it.” She explained.
 “You spoke with… the Force?” Hunter said slowly. “Like, the Force that the Jedi use?”
 “Yep! It was really happy to have someone to talk to.” Omega chirped.
 “Okay. Okay, okay, okay, okay. That’s normal. That’s completely normal and totally not something that makes me really wish general Kenobi was here.” Echo said, pressing his hands together. “The Force can talk to you, and you can talk to it. Cool. Cool.”
 “It wanted me to stay hidden for a bit because I think it’s mad at the Jedi for something and it wanted to talk to you guys when you fell asleep, but I thought that was really mean, so I asked if we could do something else to convince you not to bring me to a Jedi. But you didn’t even need to be convinced!” Omega added, shivering again. This time, Hunter did bring her against his chest as he stood, Pillow making his way onto Omega’s neck.
 “I’m glad we worked things out. I don’t like the idea of leaving you out here until we fell asleep.” Wrecker said, his face becoming illuminated by another flash of lightning.
 “Yeah, I think I would’a had some choice words for the Force if you’d gone through with that plan.” Echo agreed, rubbing his arms.
“We can talk about the Force being an less than agreeable later. Right now we have two very wet and very cold-looking squadmates who are going to catch their deaths out here.” Tech fretted, ushering the group back towards the ship. The clones laughed and began walking back through the storm, their hearts much lighter and their hope as high as ever.

There’s been some discussion recently about the subplot of bullying in The Bad Batch and I had some thoughts so I decided to write them out to discuss them.
I wanted to bring up some things that maybe can put together this disconnect we seem to see between the show The Bad Batch and the show The Clone Wars and maybe explains a bit about this whole bullied versus bully concept.
To me The Clone Wars paints a very different picture than The Bad Batch in a way that only serves to make the lines blurry and make the viewer think (perhaps not their intention but I think maybe they fell into this more on accident). The Clone Wars batch rolls in with a reputation that’s already not too great. Jesse even says it: it’s not that they win. It’s how they win. The batch is known for dangerous stunts that put other people at risk. They don’t always think through their decisions outside of themselves. Then we get this scene of them walking off of the ship and they are very arrogant. They show off, they talk big, they don’t exactly give off ‘approachable’.
We get into the mission and Jesse, in particular, is not a fan but it isn’t very aggressive yet. Crosshair is being confrontational - staring Jesse down, making snippy comments, and being an overall ass (I love Crosshair, don’t get me wrong, I’m just talking about what I observe in this introduction). I think it’s because he senses Jesse’s dislike of them and wants to poke at it.
We’re not off to a good start.
Where I think the batch fails in this episode is letting Crosshair insult Rex and further goad Jesse. Crosshair shouldn’t have said half the stuff he did and Jesse (and later, Rex) are justified in hitting back at him.
They’re soldiers. They’re going to get in each other’s faces if someone starts talking shit.
When Jesse scolds Crosshair - I think Kix is somewhere standing in the background but not directly involved- Wrecker steps in and turns things violent.
It’s not a moment I’m most proud of them. It’s actually one of the moments I’m least proud of them. Crosshair and Kix get into it when Crosshair shoves him for trying to help Jesse and Rex is attempting to get Wrecker to let Jesse go. This escalated quickly and I’m not sure I can say that this was justified. It seems like a big jump to me (but maybe someone disagrees, feel free to, I’d like to know someone else’s thoughts).
In this episode we’re really led down one path that says the batch and other clones don’t get along and from this limited perspective in this episode it seems like the batch are instigators. They roll in, avoid consequences for themselves, and roll out without giving anyone else a second thought.
The Bad Batch tv show paints an entirely different picture and it is definitely to make them more likable and relatable to a young audience. Every kids show has the character that’s an underdog, it’s who we want to root for. It makes the people in The Bad Batch’s age range connect with them more and I can’t exactly blame them for writing it this way - although after seeing the batch in the clone wars it does make me sigh a bit, I won’t lie.
I was bullied as a child. Quite severely, actually, so I find myself justifying the disconnect with a few things. Perhaps the batch puts up a front so they push other clones away before it can happen to them. I’ve done this. I put on a really abrasive attitude to keep people away when I was in high school and I regret it. However, I got over myself as I got older and worked through my own issues rather than blaming other people. Because you have to. It’s not alright to continue to hurt other people because you were hurt and I remind myself of that every single day. It’s the only way to move forward. I never have to forgive people who have hurt me but I can’t start using it as an excuse.
I mention this only to say that maybe their behavior in The Clone Wars was a mask built from past hurt and that could make sense to me. You build up walls when you’ve been hurt and you create behaviors based on experience. However, I still don’t think their behavior should be excused. I still think they escalated that situation far before anyone else did. In the same way I think Jesse made a lot of snap judgements about the batch and just kept finding ways to reinforce that judgement based on what he’d heard about them prior. And this snap judgment isn’t the best way to go about working with new people. It’s not an excuse, just an explanation.
I even think the batch’s behavior in episode 1 of their own show kind of contradicts some of their behavior in TCW. Particularly Crosshair. Crosshair doesn’t engage in the cafeteria until he absolutely has to while in TCW he is the primary instigator. We can try to explain this by saying it’s because his chip activated and his personality shifted. I just think it’s something worth pointing out.
I’d also like to add that of course the batch are the primary instigators in The Clone Wars because the clones we knew and loved in that show are technically the heroes of the episode. Of course they’re portrayed in a better light. It’s the same as the batch in episode one of their own show. Of course they’re portrayed as the ‘good guys’. It’s their show. To me it’s less of a character moment and more of a way to get the viewers of the show to root for somebody, whoever they want us to root for in the moment. The Bad Batch is told from their perspective so they are going to be the underdogs while The Clone Wars brings the batch in as outsiders to the group and gives them a more aggressive interaction to further our already beloved character’s narratives.
This was a very long way to say, I’ve always been kinda meh about the whole ‘the batch is bullied’ subplot and I tend to avoid writing it in my own fics because I think there is inconsistency with the writing between the clone wars and the bad batch and this can possibly be boiled down to a few things like different writers on the creative teams, an uncertain future, and wanting to paint certain characters in certain lights because of the show they are on. Rather than actually being a truly defining character arc it is a tool, as most writing is, it’s just not a tool I particularly care for in this story. And while I do think there are inconsistencies I can piece together some things to explain it if I really want to. I don’t think one side is right and one side is wrong. I think there are a million explanations for hurt on both sides and we decide it for ourselves because neither show truly made it clear enough for me to draw any lines in the sand. (And if you’ve been reading my stories at all you know I love a good grey area so I probably wouldn’t draw lines at all.)
I always try to be fair to everyone when I write stuff like this so I hope I’ve covered all of my points well enough. There are plenty of things to say about this topic and it has been talked about a few times recently in other posts that you can read. Tagging 1 by @laughhardrunfastbekindsblog and 2 by @gars-technician because these two posts inspired me to write this.
I’d definitely encourage open discussion here if anyone wants to chime in 😊 while I know we might all have different opinions I’m certainly willing to hear them as long as everyone is respectful.

Firstly: I adore you and your writing! I read your hc's a but too religiously for it to be healthy, and love how well you capture the characters 🥰
At you leisure, I was hoping to maybe make a request for a bit of a angsty/fluff?? How our favorite batch would react to accidentally injuring their s/o - a stray blaster shot or flying blade, or even just a rough time waking up from a bad dream. Bonus points for Gregor and Kix - honestly any clones you feel like including ❤
Aloha! Thank you so much! Always nice to read such things :)) I like this idea. Let's see what I can do with this.
The Bad Batch x Reader HC's - Accidents Happen

Warnings: Mention of minor injury/ A little Angst/Strong Language/Fluff/A bit of humor (probably)
_______________________
Hunter
A stray shot hit you, his shot. Panic instantly floods his system, and he jumps and stumbles through obstacles to get to you. The shot just grazed your shoulder, it burns a little, but it's really not a big thing.
"Maker! I hit you, didn't I?! Show me!"
He rips apart your sleeve to see the wound.
"Hey! Cool it, Hunter, it barely grazed me!"
"I'm so sorry", he mutters, taking a deep breather "For a short and very devastating moment, I thought I would have hurt you much worse"
"It's fine, it'll heal, I barely need any bacta", you say and pet his cheek.
Hunter sighs and kisses your forehead.
"Enough training for today", he says and helps you up, "At least let Tech have a look at the wound, okay?"
"If it makes you feel better"
Hunter nods and pulls you along with him.
You sigh, "Fine"
Echo
It's not even in a fight, he just gestured a little wilder when talking with Tech about a technical issue, not expecting you to be behind him, when he wheels around and knocks his scomp link against your temple.
"Oh, dear maker!", he says with a gasp.
It hurts, there is no blood, and you won't die or anything, but it does hurt a good bit, after all he hit you with a piece of metal.
Echo instantly grabs your cheeks between his hand and scomp link, turns your head to look at it.
"Hey!", you protest.
"Where the hell did you come from all of a sudden?" he asks, still a good bit panicky.
"I was coming in, a second ago, didn't know you need a warning", you mutter, still in his grip.
He sighs relieved, "Doesn't look too bad. You should be fine"
Tech in the background says, "You got her pretty good though, maybe we should make a scan"
"You think?", Echo asks, panicking again.
"I'm fine!", you tell them.
"Better safe than sorry", Tech says, getting his hand scanner.
You don't really have a choice, Echo and Tech will check you for everything possible.
Wrecker
He knocks you off your feet in a training fight, totally underestimating how small you are compared to him. You land on your ass, not really hurt, just a bit shaken. You have not expected him to knock you down so fast, although you know how strong he is.
"I'm so sorry! Oh, dear! Are you hurt?"
Wrecker picks you up, very carefully and scanning you with his eyes.
"Does it hurt somewhere?"
You shake your head.
"Nah, just my pride. You knocked me out within the very first second of the fight"
"I'm so sorry, I was so hyped about training with you, Mesh'la!"
He scratches the back of his head and says, "Maybe you should pick someone else for this kind of training... I don't know... at least for the sparing fights"
You smile at him, "It's okay, I trust you Wrecker, accidents happen"
"Are you sure?"
You nod and kiss his chin.
"Now let me down on my feet and gain back my pride"
He chuckles, "Okay, Mesh'la"
Tech
It was an accident, a stray shot, you both know that. You are not seriously hurt, the shot just grazed your armor, didn't even really hurt you, but Tech is out of his mind about it.
"How could that happen?! I'm not that bad of a shot!"
"Guess I made an unforeseen move, things like that can happen", you say calmly.
Tech takes off the part of your armor that has been grazed, to make absolutely sure you are not hurt underneath. A sigh of relief comes over his lips when he finally sees, there is no wound.
"I'm so sorry Cyare, this shouldn't have happened"
He makes a scan with his hand-held scanner and takes a closer look. You let him because you know how unsettled he is about the whole incident.
He finally kisses your cheeks and forehead and hugs you close as if he thought you could have been dying. You hug him back and say softly, "Tech, my darling, take a breather, I'm okay"
He's still shaky and needs a moment.
"Maybe we should call it a day", you suggest.
Tech nods and grabs your hand, to go back to the Marauder with you.
"I'll make us some pancakes", he says with a smile.
Pancakes are Tech's comfort food. He makes them whenever he's upset or whenever you are upset.
"Okay, sounds good to me"
Crosshair
He feels stupid about it, he ran you over on the ramp, knocked you right off it.
Crosshair growls at Wrecker, "If you hadn't hunted me with that stupid doll of yours, this wouldn't have happened!"
Wrecker looks at the two of you unsettled, "I'm sorry ad'ika"
"It's okay", you say ,"Don't worry about it"
As you try to get up, your ankle hurts like hell.
"Shit", you mutter.
"What? What is it?"
Crosshair jumps down the ramp right next to you and crouches down.
"My ankle", you say meekly, "Hurts like hell"
Crosshair mumbles, "I'm sorry... I should have been watching where I'm going"
He helps you up and brings you to Tech who takes care of your ankle while Crosshair nervously watches.
"You'll be fine, just take it easy for a week or two", he says.
Crosshair sighs then says softly, "I'll take over your chores while you recover"
You kiss his chin with a smirk.
"Don't look so grumpy, Darling, could have happened to anyone"
Gregor
He is helping to build a fireplace for a barbecue evening with some of his brothers when you approach him. He just lifted a bench he wanted to place near the fire, when he turns around he hits you in your side with it. Not too bad, just making you stumble for a moment.
Gregor drops the bench like he burnt himself on it and comes to your side.
"Oh Mesh'la, are you hurt?"
You wave it off, "No Gregor, I'm okay, just lost my balance for a moment"
"Are you sure?", he lifts your shirt a bit to look at your side, making his brothers peak at you interested.
As he realizes, he lets the shirt down again and rumbles, "Hey, none of your business"
Gregor lets out one of his cute little chuckles and says, "Sorry, Mesh'la. Can I do something for you to make it better?"
You smile and give him a soft kiss.
"Maybe later, tonight?"
He chuckles again.
"Oh, yeah, absolutely"
Kix
"Kix, calm down, I'm okay"
He is shaky and nervous and very focused on scanning you in the med bay.
"I threw you off the stairs!"
You laugh softly, "You didn't throw me, honey, you accidentally nudged me and I fell down three stairs, I just hit my knees a little"
Kix sighs, "Aside from being embarrassed about that, I'm concerned you may have hurt your knees worse than you let on"
You shrug with a chuckle and say, "Well, scan away, if it makes you feel better"
He nods, very focused. After three more scans and finding nothing, he finally believes you.
As you get up from the stretcher, you act like stumbling, as if you were really hurt and laugh as he grabs you and want's to do more scans.
"Honey I just pranked you, my knees are fine"
He looks at you very somber and stern, saying, "Not funny at all"
You pout, "Come on, don't be like that"
Kix sighs and says, "Don't ever do that again"
"Okay"
"Why do I not believe you?"
"Because Fives is my best friend?"
"Stop listening to his stupid ideas", Kix mutters, but kisses you softly.

sooooo here is the third part of the fic. that part was particularly tricky but I think it's because of the bad times I'm living. anyway, I hope you like it. <3 (originally written in brazilian portuguese. sorry for any error).
Pairing: Echo x f!Reader
Word Count: 4.1k :p
Warnings: some cute moments with the guys, mentions of trauma and sadness, things get a little hot maybe? (finally?)
You woke up to your usual loud alarm clock. Your dry mouth, heavy eyes, and messy hair. You sighed as you saw the storm outside again, the churning ocean crashing against the slopes of Tipoca. You missed the sun, the breeze and the feet sunk in the grass. You felt lonely. Your divorced parents, too busy with their new lives, the rest of your family in another System, your clone friends could die in war… it haunted you every day.
You tried to ward off the eminent sadness by deciding to get ready soon.
Your hot coffee in your mouth made you wake up a little more. Silently wondering why you woke up so tired, you barely had time to continue with the doubt.
You spent the night thinking about Echo. Wondering about his life before being picked up by the Separatists, how he feels, how it feels to have mechanical parts, how out of place he must feel, if he sleeps peacefully due to the noticeable dark circles… but mostly on his face delicate, despite the panic, his body defined in the tight black outfit identical to the one you wear, how his body, even dressed, reacted to your touches, his breath hitched whenever you got too close, the way his voice it sounded loudly close to your ear, his form poised and the eyes piercing…
You shake your head sharply as you realize that your saliva has almost run from your lips.
Heavens, what were you doing? Feeling attracted to him, obviously no one would want anything to do with you. Much less him… just because you share some possible insecurities with him? Just because you acted like a conscious being and helped him through a bad time? No. He was a soldier, molded quite differently from you. You who never even had a reciprocated passion, who at best only attracted interests because of the shape of your body. Your weird tastes, your clothes, the tattoos you did trying to be more attractive, the earrings all over your ears, none of it made you feel better or be any less lonely. You were only good in a lab and maybe being empathetic with people. You can't use someone just for want, like they did you.
The day passed slowly, monotonous as usual. And an extra weight, with the fateful waking thoughts. A laugh or two that Omega took from you, was what sustained you until mealtime.
At the same table with your friends, eating that not very tasty food, listening to random conversations and participating in a few of them and eventually wandering your gaze around the environment in search of certain clones.
Until a characteristic voice came up behind you, making your friends look in your direction, their features already not very happy.
- Look who is here!
Yelled Wrecker at his full size, which seemed so much bigger from your sitting position. You greeted him with a sincere smile.
Another came soon after, with a tattooed eye, gray hair, and a toothpick in his mouth. His face was a little more different, thinner and frowning. The slim but well-defined body.
- Oh, is she the one you talked about so much?
The clone stopped in front of you, studying you with a frown.
- Hmm… cute. Tech is the one who will be happy. Finally someone who will listen to your silly scientific facts.
He said, already turning towards the back of the cafeteria. Wrecker looking at you with a relaxed expression.
- Don't care about him. It's just a fucking bad mood.
Wrecker snorted. You couldn't hold back your laugh at the clone's expression.
Wrecker looked up above and you turned to see what caught his attention. His cheeks flushed in a way you didn't even know was possible.
It was Echo. Coming towards you. Glorious and imposing in his armor, the kama following the movement of his hips. The serious expression, the same slightly downcast eyes. He nodded at Wrecker and looked back at you, stopping in front of you, already having a much softer expression on his face.
- Hey, Echo. You look great.
You said, having trouble focusing on his eyes, having the entire length of his body right there in front of you.
- Uh… yes. Thanks to you.
You could have sworn his voice had wavered a little, and the little color of his skin was in his cheeks. You scratched the back of your neck, rather shy at the clone's declaration.
- Ah! You are talking too much! Let's eat!
Wrecker said, lifting you by the arm and then grabbing Echo's arm and dragging the two of you.
- Hey! Do you really go with them?
Shouted one of his friends, annoyed.
- Oh, relax. I'll be back later.
You said with a little disdain.
Arriving at the table where Bad Batch was, you were friendly greeted by Hunter, inviting you to sit next to him, and you, a little embarrassed by his strong gaze on you, eventually relented. Echo sat across from you and Wrecker beside him. Echo always giving you a slight smile whenever your gazes lingered too long on each other. Damn it. He was more adorable than you thought.
Then the gray-haired clone and the one even more different approached. Caramel hair, thin nose, and wide eyes, overshadowed by orange glasses. He was taller than the other, thin, and well defined. They were arguing about something.
- These are Crosshair and Tech, Y/N.
Hunter said, his eyes dismayed and his eyebrow raised at the sight of the fight.
Crosshair stopped by the table, avoiding sitting next to Wrecker, who was already looking at him with malice. The clone sighed and slowly went to sit beside you, visibly uncomfortable.
- Oh, Tech. Have you met their new little friend?
His voice was pure mockery. But his gaze wouldn't stop analyzing you for a second. You reached out to Tech amicably.
- Hi Tech, I'm-
You were immediately interrupted.
- Y/N. Worked in the cloning division and is now Nala Se's right hand. Echo's description of your person even lived up to reality. I'm impressed.
Your eyes were simply wide open and your mouth slightly open. The silence at the table was overwhelming. Echo had commented on you, why?
- Uh… okay… I'm happy.
You barely managed to smile shyly at the clone, who as if nothing had happened, was already focused on his meal calmly. Echo had locked eyes with the food tray at her brother's declaration. Lips pressed together.
Hunter rested a hand on your shoulder, with an amused look as if he said "that's it, get used to it." You caught Echo staring at the Sergeant's hand on your shoulder, only relaxing when Hunter turned his hand back to brace himself on the table. You laughed at Hunter, turning your attention to your meal.
It was amazing to see the team interaction up close. They fought and agreed all the time. Just like a family. You felt comfortable giving in to whatever subject you had to say and noticing how safe and direct Hunter was, the way Wrecker was animated and loved to tease the brothers, the seriousness and good sense of Tech, the acid and provocative way of Crosshair and, finally, Echo's neutrality and calm. Despite not having been on the team for a long time, he had his spotlight. He was sweet, nice and reserved. The boys liked you. And you expect Crosshair too.
You all finished your meals and you walked down the halls together. The typical looks and whispers all over you, as usual. But no one came directly to offend you anymore.
Over time, you did everything together whenever possible. Even practicing some moves with Hunter in the training room, you were always being caught off guard when the clone took off his sweaty shirt and rubbed it against his forehead. The scientific discussions with Tech, which both always ended up in an impasse when arguing about. Wrecker definitely livened up your whole day, lifting you like you're nothing and crushing you against his strong, broad chest. Crosshair was quite an interesting exchange of false insults, always sneaky and slightly provocative when he cornered you just to feel in charge. And Echo, ah, how sweet he was. Something kept pulling you to him. Always so concerned and affectionate with you.
He always walked by your side. The issues between you two only grew. You talked from the bad meal to the battle methods used in training. And eventually, you got a smile out of him. And your heart swelled to the point of tearing your chest. And when the accidental physical touches happened, you two froze and apologized to each other over and over again. He gradually opened up with you more, avoiding talking about the past, but always demonstrating one thing or another. And you were always patient, trying your hardest not to push and give him comfort to feel safe.
Echo was feeling, for the first time since the accident, something close to being accepted, understood or even… passionate, considering that his sleep and attention were easily impaired by your presence or thoughts related to you. But of course he tried to retain that thought in the back of his brain whenever it surfaced. No one noticing, it would be okay.
A few days passed and your new friends were requested for a mission in Kashyyyk. You were swamped with work and had barely managed to do your chores with Echo or even spend time with the boys. When you can, you made sure to do all the physical tests on them. Sometimes getting lost in their strong, attractive forms with only the tight black clothes on their bodies. Getting a few hits or lunges when you couldn't disguise it enough.
Echo was waiting for you in the dorm that night. You still hadn't reconciled your spare time to meet. You would finish the job pretty early, and Echo would be free, so it was the perfect opportunity to finish testing the clone.
That night, Omega was with you. You guys talking and eating before Echo told you he was ready. Until then, he hadn't texted once on his communicator. "It must be because we see each other every day," you thought, dreaming of receiving messages from him all night long.
The communicator rang, in the message, Echo said: "I'm ready to be your guinea pig again, mad scientist. :)"
You laughed, already being teased by Omega.
- People in love laugh like that, you know?
She said, pretentious. Ready to hear your apology. You just wanted to run from the girl's gaze, fearing that her flushed eyes and cheeks would give you away.
- Ah, Omega. It's just Echo letting me know it's ready.
You said, running to get your metallic briefcase.
- Y/N, only a blind person doesn't see the way you look at each other. Even the boys have noticed.
She said naturally, munching on the goodies she stole from the cafeteria.
You looked at her disdainfully, rolling your eyes as if she'd heard the worst lie, but your insides screaming in agreement with the girl.
- So... uh, did you put my uniform here, Omega? I'm not comfortable with just this tight black outfit.
You said, looking at yourself in the reflection of the glass, releasing your long hair.
- Uh, I forgot in the lab when that toxic stuff spilled on you and you almost tore your clothes off.
The girl laughed, almost spitting at you.
- But I think you should go that way. Echo will like it. Better than that gigantic uniform. You look like an Ewok, but not that cute.
She laughed, getting a dirty sock in the middle of her face, which you threw at her.
- Be quiet, Omega. Or I'll throw you out the window.
You headed towards the door, Omega's sweet laugh in the background. You didn't really mind going out without a uniform, as the hallways were empty at night. You intended to stop by the lab to pick up your clothes before going to the dorm.
But you almost ran into Echo, turning down the hall. Startling a little, you looked him in the eye. Echo had a calm expression, already wandering his gaze over your marked body in that outfit, a completely new vision, strange things bubbling up inside him.
- I'm sorry to show up like this. I was going to your room since you didn't answer me.
Echo explained, with an amused expression.
- Oh, forgive me. I was in such a hurry that I didn't even tell you I was leaving.
Hey, you hadn't even taken that long… You couldn't keep your eyes on his for too long. Feeling practically naked in that outfit and feeling his gaze on you.
- Everything is fine. I think I was… anxious.
Echo looked away, scratching the back of his neck. You felt your ears heat and a flutter in your stomach. Was he looking forward to seeing you? Ah… no, it shouldn't be.
- All right dear, I understand it's still a little tense the whole testing thing and-
You were interrupted by Echo's hand on your arm, his gaze now fixed on you.
- I was looking forward to seeing you. I- I mean, you've been so busy lately...
Echo blushed at the unexpected statement, you mostly and you two were silent for a while, looking at each other.
- Ah, I… I wanted to see you too… before the mission. It's going to be hard to get through a few days without you… a-and the others, of course.
You said, completely embarrassed. Trying not to look so fond of him.
- Uh, don't worry, Kashyyyk isn't that dangerous.
Echo smiled slightly, withdrawing his hand.
- I hope so, I want you and the others in one piece.
Echo chuckled softly, the sound resonating in your chest.
- I think it's impossible for me to be less whole.
You punched his chest lightly, your offended expression playfully.
- Let's go then?
You asked and Echo nodded, clearing the way for you to continue your walk. You thought it best to finish these tests soon, so there wouldn't be any delays so Echo could go on a mission. Already embarrassed by your apparent "lack of clothing", checking the list of missing tests, you realized that you would need to look into Echo's cybernetics, which involved, of course, removing the clothing. Maker, can this get any more embarrassing?
You went to the dorm, the walk feeling longer than usual, the tension in the air so thick it could be cut with a knife.
Typing in the password, Echo gave you passage through the open door, entering right after you. You walked in almost having your legs frozen from being in a smaller room alone with Echo. Damn it. Were you really in love like that?
Echo gazed at your form, the light from the hallway reflected off your back, the hair gleaming and… well, your ass, before closing the door and trying to push the thoughts out of his mind (failing, of course). You were actually more attractive than usual.
Going to the bunk, you put your briefcase on the floor and sat on the not-so-comfortable mattress.
- You come?
You asked, a little nervous.
Echo, as if he had come back to consciousness at your words, nodded and walked over, sitting on the mattress beside you. You opened the briefcase and took out the list.
- Echo… I'm going to need to check your… cybernetics.
Your voice barely came out at the end of the sentence. Echo's eyes widened, already crossing his arms in front of his stomach.
- B-but… I thought not-
You interrupted him already fearing that he would think you deceived him in a way.
- Yes, Echo, it's not necessary in the basic test but Kashyyyk is very physical so unfortunately I need to look…
Your chest sank. Were you really going to expose him like that, or did you leave the test aside at the risk of him having problems in the mission? Echo sighed, his face worried, his eyes roaming his legs.
- I… I'm not very nice to look at.
The false humor in his voice. You got closer.
- I know I'll never really understand what you feel. But I understand a little bit about not liking the body you live in.
Your eyes lowered a little, the sad tone in your voice.
- You? Please. You do not have a defect-
Echo gasped, but too late. You looked away, tugging a lock of hair behind your ear.
- Oh please. Do not exaggerate.
You decided to start testing right away, you had no idea how to continue this subject.
Echo was clearly annoyed. You would be the first person close to him to see his body in that state. All the scars and… well… everything else.
You, on the other hand, had some discomfort below your navel. See him naked. This has made you imagine hundreds of things.
Echo slowly turned and peeled off the top of his black outfit. Several times stopping in the middle of the process, as if to gather courage with each movement. You decided not to interfere, respecting his time and space...
Gradually he revealed his defined back, the cervical prosthesis, all along the length of his spine, the chest that expanded with each deep breath he took as he revealed more of his body.
The prosthesis expanded slightly toward the two broad shoulders and met the cybernetics Echo wore around his head. Your scientist side was intrigued and awestruck by the prostheses, but your human side… was admiring the pale, defined silhouette. Skin identical to porcelain, with scars and some bruises from previous missions. The muscular, strong arms gave you goose bumps.
Echo just stood there, eyes closed and his back to you.
- Echo... if you're not okay-
The clone was hugging the shirt he had taken off, covering his chest and part of his belly when he abruptly turned around.
- I am fine!
His voice sounded steady, perhaps, but his movements faltered. He tossed the shirt aside, already feeling completely naked and vulnerable. He took a deep breath and continued, standing up.
You couldn't help but follow the movements of cybernetics and Echo's thumb moving along the waistband of his pants, slowly lowering them, exposing the cybernetics of hips, thighs, and legs as the fabric was discarded. Okay, it was metal, but perfectly molded and fit, mechanically harmonious and sexy. You noticed that in his pelvis, Echo had a kind of smock, as a protection. You reprimanded yourself for thinking that it was for... did he still have-
You shook your head, cursing yourself internally.
Echo held the pants to his chest as he straightened, he didn't meet your eyes, his head was down, embarrassed. The fabric fell down the front of his body, slightly covering his belly and part of his waist.
You got up, slowly, stopping in front of the clone. The heart at a thousand beats per minute. You felt sorry for him. And you felt disgusting about it. He was a soldier, a warrior, a survivor of so many things worth pity? Damn your sentimentality.
You put your hand on his strong, broad shoulder, he reacting slightly to your touch.
- You can trust me. You are not just a product to be tested today.
His heart warmed at your words. Was he more than that to you?
Echo stared steadily at your fingers traveling over his biceps and down, until your hand came back to your side.
- What am I for you?
His little eyes were gleaming slightly and his brows drawn together in question. The question hit you like a well-placed blow to the face. You never stopped to find a definition for him for you. He wasn't just an acquaintance, of that you were sure. But how to say that he makes you shy? That you always want to be beautiful around him? That you bring up subjects constantly for fear of seeming boring to him? That you genuinely care about him and find him beautiful, and now very attractive? Your face boiled over the seconds, looking him in the eye became impossible.
- Uh… y-you are… my friend, aren't you? I mean, you are all-
Your shaky thinking was interrupted by Echo's black pants coming your way. He put it on your left shoulder very slowly. You followed the movement and when you returned to the front, you felt that characteristic twinge in your gut.
- I mean, what do you think when you see this...
The soft voice, almost like a sad whisper. His hand pointed at himself.
The broad, defined chest, the pale nipples, the deep collarbones, the last ribs barely visible around the cybernetics he had on his chest. His belly was defined, his waist slightly slimmer than his hips, the cybernetics and splint low enough for you to follow the V that extended to his pelvis. The bulk of the thighs and the bulging codpiece. A hand on your chin, pushing up, broke your reverie.
- I'm up here, in case you've forgotten.
His voice was amused, the slight smile lifting the corners of his mouth, the higher cheekbones.
- I'm glad you didn't react like the others.
His voice was more serious, his rough thumb caressing your chin.
You swallowed dry. Looking up, pausing for a moment to take a closer look at the cracked, swollen lips parted. You felt him appreciating your lips too, on the contrary, flushed, shiny, silky-looking and outlined as if it had been drawn. Echo frowned, his brows almost drawing together. He didn't know he would be able to feel the slightest attraction to someone again. That he could behold the beauty in someone, that he could get so close to someone physically and… emotionally.
He was naked in front of you and it didn't bother him as much as it did in the beginning. How had he not noticed this before? You're always so jealous of him, and he's always looking for more and more, trying to reciprocate. The sensation burning in his chest, deep inside, beneath the cybernetics.
- You…
You said it almost as a whisper. Lifting your hand to caress his forearm with your fingertips, to the limit between skin and metal.
- Is strong, sweet, determined…
Your fingers moved up past his shoulder, placing your palm on his strong, broad chest. His eyes trailing all the way. Your heart trembled to say how enchanted and in love you were… but you didn't feel safe enough.
- You're beautiful. Human, above all. And yet, the Hero of Anaxes.
Echo had his eyes closed when you faced him again. His eyes narrowed as he tried to absorb your words. Your act sent him back years ago. Still soldier, a normal clone, with his armor and the blue palm that was nailed to his rib plate. A token of honor.
He opened his eyes, tears welling up, blurring his vision.
Your heart ached, making you hug him tightly, propelling him back. Echo responded slowly as he realized what you were doing, pressing you against him, pressing his nose against the base of your neck. The two of you digging your fingertips into each other's backs. His tears warming your shoulder and running down your shoulder blades. You rested your head on his chest, listening and feeling his deep breathing and strong heartbeat. Your slim, tight uniform allowed you to feel every rise and texture of Echo's physique. Your breasts crushed against his chest.
Stars, it felt like heaven. You barely remember when you did this. This man deserved to have all his pains extracted and his dreams perfectly reconstructed.
When both realized, it had been some time, you were stroking the clone's back, and he had dropped his hands to your waist.
He only got up because of the pain in his back from having to bend over to hug you. You looked at him smiling and cradled his face in your hands.
- Better now, darling?
Echo smiled, his little eyes reddened from crying. He nodded, a little embarrassed, feeling like he'd ripped his body open and showing you his insides explicitly. Echo sighed, allowing himself to enjoy your touch. Giving in to your soft, gentle touch. Which he didn't even remember what it was like anymore.
- Thanks…
You smiled as sweetly and sincerely as you could. You were really happy to be there. But there was work to be done.
- Can we continue, Echo? If not, you won't be able to bring those beautiful Kashyyyk flowers I asked for.
You said sweetly, giggling, lowering your hand to his shoulder.
Echo smiled, little did you know he would be able to bring you moons and stars. Echo was kind to everyone. Never sparing efforts to help. But with you… he felt he would be able to destroy planets if you asked.

Characters: Sam Dalton x Marie Castro (MC), Robin Flores, Mason Dalton, Mickey Dalton, Carter
Word Count: 3,064
Rating/Warnings: ⚠️ Some parts contain -> NSFW 🍋, Adult Language ⛔️⛔️ Smut, Angst
Description: After spending the rest of the summer in Italy, Sam, Marie and the boys head back home. Will the fallout of Sam's wedding to Sofia finally catch up to them? Was their happiness short lived?
A/N: Before the first chapter of The Nanny Affair Book 2 was released, the wonderful TNA group gave the 'challenge' what if you were to write how chapter 1 would go back in June. PB had already released that a new nanny was wanted. It was a fun theory to want a new nanny (manny) to make Sam jealous after book one. And we get the new nanny line!! *Sam over Jordan any day of the week* Here is my version of chapter 1.
Characters belong to Pixelberry
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Flashing lights of the cameras blind us. The paparazzi stepping closer and closer to Sam, Mason, Mickey and I as we make our way towards the door of our home. A few more steps and we’ll be safe in the lobby and on our way towards the penthouse.
“How does it feel being a home wrecker?’ A small man with salt and pepper asks as he pushes closer to us.
‘Sam, why would you leave Sofia at the altar?’ Someone else shouts from the right of us. ‘Is she really worth you losing Dalton Enterprises?’
A younger photographer stops in front of the boys, shoving his camera in their faces trying to get a reaction out of them. ‘What do you think of your dad sleeping with your nanny?’
“Dad!” Mason and Mickey call out for Sam, rushing to his side. Letting go of my hand instantly, Sam takes their small hands in his. A hard expression sets in on his face “You need to back the fu..” He stops to compose himself before he says something he’ll regret and is spread all over the tabloids. “Back away. Let us through.” Sam pushes his way through the throng of cameras, taking the boys with him as he enters the lobby.
A hand wraps around my arm but before I can fight back I hear Carter. “Ms. Marie, I got you. Let’s get you inside.” Carter steps in front acting as a shield from the paparazzi making way for us to get into the building.
Once Carter and I make it into the lobby, Sam is bent down on his knee comforting Mason and Mickey as they bury their face into his chest. “It’s ok. Everything will be ok. I promise you both, I will make this right.” He tells them.
“Sam.” I call out in a whisper.
Getting up from the floor, he doesn’t bother turning to face me and begins to walk towards the elevator. Mason and Mickey at his side waiting for the doors to open. Not one of them turns back to me, not one of the three inviting me to be apart of their family embrace.
Was choosing me the right choice for Sam? Or was our return home and coming back to reality, the beginning of the end? Watching as the elevator doors open and close once they step in. A family of three, a father and his sons, dealing with the backlash from Sam and I giving into our desires.
***
Turbulence jolts me awake. “Hey, it’s ok. I got you.” Sam wraps his arms around me, placing a kiss on my forehead. Inching closer to him, wrapping a leg around his waist as we lay in bed on our flight back to New York. Placing my head on his chest, hearing his heart beat begins to calm me from the dream I just had.
His hand tenderly running up and down my back. “Do you want to talk about?” He asks.
“It was nothing, just a bad dream.” I tell him, closing my eyes trying to forget about it. Sam lets out an exasperated breath, “It’s not nothing Marie. You’ve had these bad dreams the last few days.”
I can’t tell Sam about the dream that I keep having. Was I really worth all this trouble? Putting the boys through all of this, they surely know that I love their Dad. Sam has kept telling me he loves me and I am the one he wants since the accident in Italy.
“So we’re going with the silent treatment?” Sam asks.
Looking up to see his grey eyes staring down at me. “Really you want to go down the silent treatment way? Who was ready to run away to Italy after our first time together.” Throwing the whole gala night at him.
“I told you that the timing wasn’t the best. I wasn't running away after finally making you mine. Don’t you think I’d go back and do it differently if I could.” He says lifting my chin so are lips are faintly touching.
“I know. But it was nothing, just a dream. Nothing really. I’ll be…We’ll be ok.” smiling against his lips
“Yes, we will. I promise no matter what comes at us, we will face it together.” He presses his lips softly against mine. Letting out a soft moan, he deepens the kiss slipping his tongue past my lips.
Sam’s hands begin to roam over my body, grabbing my waist and pulling me on top of him. Taking the hint and sitting up on his lap, my hands run down his sculpted chest. Playing with waistband of his briefs,
“Are you going to do something with those hands?” Sam lets out in a heated breath, desire in his stare.
Feeling his cock twitch against me. Leaning down, kissing along his jaw up to his lips. Taking his bottom lip between my teeth, as my hand runs over his stiffening cock. “You know exactly what these hands can do.” He groans as I take him in my hand.
His hands are on me instantly, cupping my breast over my thin gray sleeping tank. His thumbs teasing my nipples to peaks.
“Sam.” I moan, tossing my head back.
Sam sits up, his lips are on my skin, placing hot kisses on my collarbone, lowering the strap down my arm and kissing my shoulder. “Tell..” kiss… “me..” kiss “what you…” kiss “want Marie.”
Stopping his kisses against my skin, pulling back slightly. Running my hand through his hair, looking at him “You. I want you. The good, the bad… I want all of you Sam.”
“I’m all yours Marie.” Sam rolls me back onto the bed, running his hand up my inner thigh. His fingertips teasing the outline of my panties, moving them to the side. His touch teasing my wet pussy.
Arching my body up to meet his touch, Sam slides a finger inside. “Always so wet and ready for me.” He whispers against my skin, my body responding to Sam’s fingers moving between my legs, wanting more.
Always wanting more.
“Oh..god..please..” My moans are silenced by his lips, his kisses becoming hungrier with need. His fingers never stopping, bringing me closer with each movement. Sam lowers a strap of my top, lowering it just under my breast, he taking one into his mouth. His tongue swirling around my nipple “Sam..I need you inside me..!” I call out.
There’s a knock at the door, stopping us, our attention focused on the door. My heart races with anticipation of the door to be opened and whoever is on the other side catch us in a rather compromising position..
“Fuck..” He whispers against my skin. “Be right there.” Sam calls out.
Laughing out loud at our current situation, Sam gets off the bed and begins to dress. “You find this funny Ms. Castro?” He smirks. Fixing my top, I get up on my knees, making my way towards the edge of the bed.
Sam stands inches from me, adjusting himself, fixing his clothes. “Extremely funny, Mr. Dalton.” A ridiculously wide smile spreads across my face.
In one quick movement, Sam has his hand at the nape of my neck, his lips crash against mine hard. “I’ll see you outside, Love.”
My eyes open at the departure of his lips from mine, letting out a frustrated sigh as Sam walks out, closing the door behind him.
******
Upon landing back in New York, I prepare myself for the media frenzy. But nothing, no clicks of the camera, no questions thrown at us. To say I was surprised at not having to deal with cameras capturing our every movement would be an understatement. Relief sets in and I begin to relax a bit. But those dreams keep playing in my mind, unable to shake them off.
Exiting the plane, the New York morning sunlight greets us. The humidity and heat starting early in the last days of August. Once everything is loaded into the car, Carter drives us home. Mickey seated beside me, Sam in front of us next to the door with Mason asleep in his arms. Mickey leans into me, wrapping his arm around my waist, he snuggles into a more comfortable position. Placing an arm around him, he finally settles in and begins to doze off.
“Are you happy to be home?” I ask Sam, staring out the window, seeing the city come into view.
“Home is wherever the four us are Marie.” He responds tenderly.
A faint smile comes across my face, my attention still looking out the window at the city. Silence falls between us, unsure of how long it took to get home, until we pull into the parking structure of our building.
“Hey…” Sam finally breaks the silence.
“Hey.”
“Sir. We are here. I’ll make sure everything is taken up to the penthouse.” Carter announces.
The both of us unaware Carter had rolled down the partition once we came to a stop.
“Thank you, Carter. Do you mind helping Marie with Mickey?”
“Not at all Sir.” Carter gets out and makes his way to open the door for us.
Sam hugs a sleeping Mason a bit closer to him, “Marie, stop over thinking things, get out of that head of yours. Everything will be ok.” He sounds so sure of what he is saying, I begin to believe it myself.
“You can trust me.. I love you.” He reassures me before stepping and getting out of the car.
“I love you too.” Murmuring against a sleeping Mickey.
******
Tossing the last of the boys freshly washed clothes into the drier, Muscular arms wrap around me from behind, “Aaah..” jumping back against them and hitting his toned body. “Jesus, you scared me.”
“Sorry, didn’t mean too.” Sam tightens his grip around me.
“Did you come into the laundry room to help?”
“Well..not really.” He chuckles. “You didn’t have to start unpacking and washing the boys clothes right away.” Sam states. “We could have rested a bit before starting.” He begins to kiss down my neck.
Leaning my head back against his shoulder, sighing “Hmm… would it just be resting?”
Sam groans. “You know I’d be up for anything?”
Turning around, Sam’s gaze burning with desire greets me. “Easy there.” Placing a hand against his chest, gently pushing him back. “We’ve been gone for a while and there are things I would like to get ahead of.”
He bows his head in defeat. “Alright, I guess you’re right.”
“You guess?” Raising in eyebrow. “Well, I hate to break it to you…” Closing the small distance between us and wrapping my arms around him. “But I’m always right.”
Sam lets out a hearty laugh, “I don’t get a say in this?”
“Nope!”
We stand holding each other in the laundry room not saying a word. Content with his arms wrapped around me, our hearts beating as one.
“Marie, there is something I want to talk to you about.” He whispers into my hair.
“Oh?”
Leaning back, a look settles on his face, one that is trying to figure out how to tell me what he wants to talk about.
“Everything ok?”
“We should talk in my office.” He takes my hand in his and begins to lead us out. “I don’t want the boys to wake up and walk in on what I want to tell you.” Calling back to me.
“Alright, but you do know that they don’t go into the laundry room.” Trying to make light of the current situation. No chuckle, nothing. It must be serious, I think to myself.
We make our way to his office, Sam steps aside to let me in. Closing the door behind us, I turn and face him as he runs his hand through his hair. A habit, I've come to know he does when he is nervous.
“You’re beginning to worry me?” I tell him, folding my arms under my chest.
“I’ll stop beating around the bush. I want us to hire a new nanny for Mason and Mickey.” He tells me, his face is unreadable, unable to see if he is joking or not.
“Why?” Feeling a bit hurt at the thought of not being able to take care of Mason and Mickey anymore.
“Don’t look at me like that.” Sam takes a step closer.
“Look at you like what?” Stepping back as he moves closer.
“Hurt.” Taking another step closer.
“How can I not be hurt Sam? That’s what I do. I’m the boys nanny. Remember that’s what I was hired to do.” Not moving as he takes another step forward.
“I’ve already told you that you are more than just a nanny…” He pauses. “At first, yes I did hire you as their nanny but you’re much more, you’ve become a part of this family. The love of my life.”
Turning my back to him, looking out the windows of his office. “I can still take care of them. Besides I don’t think hiring someone new for the boys would be a good idea.”
Before he can answer, the elevator chimes to announce someone has arrived. Turning back and looking at Sam who has the same confused look on his face as I do.
“Who the hell can that be?” Turning and making his way out of the office, I follow not too far behind.
“Hey Sammy! I thought you two might be 'busy' and here I come to interrupt.” Robin greets us.
“What are you doing here Robin?” Sam asks him.
“Is that a way to welcome your brother?” Greeting Sam with a hug, taking the chance to wink at me behind Sam’s back.
I roll my eyes at him. “What can we do for you Robin?”
“Look at you Marie, that was fast, already taking charge of the household.” He laughs “I just came to talk, in peace if you will. We both messed up in Italy. Some more than others." He points at both of us. "Remember I help handle PR for Dalton Enterprises. And we need a good spin on this because, we are in the shits.”
Sam reaches back and taking my hand in his, bringing me to stand next to him. “We were actually discussing something important. Whatever plan you came to talk about the three of us can discuss about it come Monday.”
Ignoring Sam, Robing pats him on the shoulder as he walks towards the family room, turning back and smiling “Whatever you say Sammy. You are in charge, at least for now.”
Sam and I are left standing there, looking at each other not knowing how to respond to him. “Come on. We should at least entertain him and see what he is up too.” Leading him into the family room after Robin.
Watching as Robin takes a seat on the sofa, feeling very much at home, he has this cheshire cat smile spread across his face.
“How is the happy couple?” He asks, looking at Sam then at me. “What? Trouble in paradise already?” Robin jokes.
“Like I said we will discuss our situation come Monday.” a frustrated Sam answers him.
“You told her already right?”
Sam hesitates to respond.
Realizing Sam and Robin had already discussed the hiring of the nanny thing before Sam even mentioned it to me.
“We were just talking about that before you made your surprised appearance.” Speaking up before Sam can say anything.
Sam’s hand fidgeting in mine, “Robin..”
“We were going to start looking for one together.” Cutting him off. Looking up at Sam with a glare that lets him know that I’m not exactly happy that he discussed this with Robin before me.
“Good.” Robin claps his hands together. “Now that that’s out of the way, the faster we can spin this story in our favor the better. As you know it doesn’t bode well for the other person who doesn’t come out with some sort of statement first in situations like this.”
“What are you doing?” Sam at last speaks up.
Ignoring Sam, Robin continues “Dalton Enterprises and Russo Industries can say no comment for so long, before the rumor mills start going again.”
“What are you doing?” Sam repeats himself. “I won’t ask again.”
“Me? or her?” Robin points at me. “We all know who she is doing.”
“Don’t you dare start with this shit again.” Sam angrily raising his voice.
“I kid, I kid. Learn to take a joke. At least I slept with someone with status, not the help.” Robin laughs.
Sam and I just stand there not doing or saying anything. Looking at Sam as he takes a deep breath trying to calm the anger that is building up and then at Robin, sitting there with ease enjoying that he is getting Sam riled up.
“Relax. Just another joke, god you guys are dull.” Robin gets up and stands a few feet away from us, straightening up. “You want to know why, Sam. Fine, I'll tell you. Don’t forget that I’m also up for the CEO position, in case you royally fucked up. And hate to break it to you but you royally fucked up.”
“As did you.” Sam answers.
Robin takes a step closer, “True, but something like that is not shocking coming from me. You should know that. And to show that I’m a team player, I’ll let you in on my plan before I go.” He grins at us.
“How kind of you.” I answer sarcastically.
“Well my dear Marie, when I take over and I will be taking over Dalton Enterprises. I still want it to be one of the best companies that is out there. It’s to my benefit to make sure we survive this. That way Sammy here can’t say I played dirty and took it from him.” Winking at us.
Sam reaches out and grips Robin by his arm “ You will never get this company, no matter how much you try. I’ll make sure of it.” Gritting through his teeth.
“I wouldn’t expect anything less Sam.” He responds pulling out of Sam’s grip. “Oh and good luck finding a new nanny.” Robin says as he walks away.
“Dad!? We’re getting a new nanny?” Mason and Mickey say in unison announcing their presence. Sam and I turn and see them standing by the doorway, wiping the sleep from their eyes.
“Are you leaving us again Marie?” Mickey ask with sadness in his voice.
“Of course not. I’m not going anywhere.” I try and comfort them both with my words. And at that moment I believed that I’d be in their lives forever.
“Oops.. sorry didn’t mean to be the one to break it you kiddos” Robin ruffles Mason’s hair as he makes his exit.
Leaving us with two boys standing there looking at us with tears building up in their eyes. Waiting for us to explain something we haven’t even started discussing.
His Beloved And More, Part 5
Thanks to Brainstorm’s brilliant plan you’re tucked away in his habsuite. Nothing can go wrong... Or can they?
WARNING! There is major character death in this chapter and blood and gore. I do not recommend this chapter for those with sensitive mind.
Mechs were sad by your disappearance and many came to give Brainstorm their consoles. The scientist acted through them, thanking everyone but never letting them lose hope of seeing you again. They would all get to see you again and he would be a hero. Some mechs got uneasy by his positivity, but many of his friends dared to keep the hope up, even if it was just a facade for Brainstorm’s sake.
Their travels continued on and Brainstorm kept doing his usual job in the lab with Perceptor, but in his free time he would lock himself into his habsuite behind heavy steel doors and take you out on display as he would work on the cure for your humanity and sometimes shower your tank with his love.
Then the fated day came that the alarms went off in the laboratory. Perceptor and Brainstorm were right there reading damage reports when the grim news came, but there was not one bad new but two. The scientists quickly commed Ultra Magnus.
’Perceptor, what happened? The ship stopped moving forward and is twisting on its side.’ Ultra Magnus asked the former Wrecker scientist.
’I’m well aware of this Ultra Magnus. It appears that engine 2 has been sabotaged. I’m going there with Nightbeat and Nautica right now to see what is going on.’
’Good, let us know immediately what you find there.’
’There are more news.’ Perceptor added, sounding almost regretful for informing that.
’And they’re?’
’Grave. We lost contact with liaison’s capsule.’
’…I’m afraid I don’t understand. What do you mean Perceptor?’
’I regret telling you this, but I’m afraid that capsule has wandered far off its direction, but most likely, it has been eliminated by an outside force.’
’I see…’ Ultra Magnus grew quiet. ’Does Brainstorm know about this?’
’Yes. He’s rather upset now so I would recommend letting him think this through.’
’I understand. Find out what’s wrong with the engine and I’ll inform Rodimus and Megatron about her fate. We need to have a conversation about how to approach this to crew…’
’I understand.’
As Perceptor and his little team ventured to the engine room, Ultra Magnus approached his captains, and Brainstorm made his way to his habsuite. He seemed almost too happy, no one could tell what news he had just received.
Even if the news were fake, only he knew it and only he knew you were alive and well in his habsuite. He gained weird looks since he couldn’t contain some of his giggles of excitement. He couldn’t wait to see you and tell you how well his plan has worked!
Brainstorm entered his room and locked the door behind himself before approaching your safe. He hit the code in and your lovely calm face greeted as your tank emerged from the wall. Brainstorm smiled behind his mask at the sight of you and rested his forehead against the tank's cool glass as he looked at you.
”The plan worked my love…! Everything is going just as I planned! We’re so close to our goal…!” Brainstorm kept looking at you until this uneasy feeling settled to his tanks. Something was wrong. He took a look at your monitors that showed him your heart rate, brain waves, and everything else that was essential to keeping you alive. That’s when his spark froze.
Every monitor showed a straight line. Your heart monitor, brain line, lines everywhere!
”No, no, NO!”
How was it possible!? Was there something wrong with machinery that was supposed to keep you alive?! Brainstorm quickly yanked your tank aside to get a look at the machines he had planted inside the wall to support your body. What he saw made him see red.
A creature as big as the largest dog on Earth, with a disgusting tangled fur, along three-way split tail and horrible teeth was chewing on all the cables and tubes of his machinery, digging through metal and grounding it in its teeth before swallowing.
The little alien must have been the source of the failed engine and it had somehow ventured to Brainstorm’s habsuite and inside his wall where you rested. The biggest tube that had been completely destroyed just happened to be one pumping oxygen to your body.
"Get away from her!"
Without a second of doubt, Brainstorm snatched the alien to his hand in crushing grip and threw it across his habsuite, away from his machinery. There was a sickening squishy sound and crush, but the flier didn’t pay any attention to them. He quickly opened your tank and pulled you out, laying your limp body on the floor as he tried to resurrect you.
He tried everything he knew, pumping your chest carefully with the tips of his servos, patting your back, blowing air to your mouth, and giving you a little electricity to start your heart again…! But after struggling with your cold body for fifteen minutes everything turned grey in his optics. The only color he could see was your blue lips and he was taken over by an urgent need to kiss you. You two never really kissed, but you wouldn’t mind one kiss, would you?
With his mask off, Brainstorm gently kissed you, your cool unmoving lips pressing against his warm soft metal lips. He kept kissing you in sad hopes that you would magically wake up as all the princesses did in your favorite movies at Earth Movie Nights, but no matter how much he showered you in his love you wouldn’t wake up.
Brainstorm stopped kissing you and just stared at your body. There was a bing in his commlink, telling him someone was trying to contact him, but he ignored it. His plans and your shared future together…! All ruined by an uncounted accident.
No, Brainstorm wouldn’t let you disappear, he wouldn’t lose you. But… He just lost you…
'Brainstorm…? Why are you sad?'
Was that...? Your voice!
Brainstorm looked at you with his optics widening in joy, already expecting your eyes to slowly blink open and look at him with life in your eyes… but there you laid, unmoving and cold. But it was your voice that he heard, laced with worry over your loved one aka him. Brainstorm held his helm and curled over himself.
”I- it happened again…! First Quark and now you! Why I lose everyone I care about!?” He cried out loud. ”I really tried this time, I really did! I tried my hardest and it wasn't enough!”
'But Brainstorm, you haven’t lost me. I’ll always be with you because I love you.'
Your voice was gentle and it sounded like you were smiling at him like during those times when you just held him in your lap and stroked his helm so peacefully and lovingly.
”It’s not enough! I want to see you smile, I want to kiss you and hold you! I can’t love you this way like I want to!” He cried in despair, but you didn't disappear.
'Then do what you must to bring me back. You’re a brilliant scientist, aren’t you? I know if there is anyone who can do it it’s you.'
Yes, you were right…! There was still hope…! You weren’t gone yet! Your heart may not have been pumping, but you could still be saved! Brainstorm didn’t know much about humans, but his latest experiments could be essentials to return you to your glory!
First, he had to save you! The thing that made you. Your brains!
Brainstorm giggled, quickly jumping to his pedes and running to his little instrument cabinet! He picked up a thing or two, humming a happy tune as he made his way back to you. The scientist put all the little saws, drills, and containers around you and picked up a specially big and sharp scalpel, sharp enough to cut through your flesh and bones with ease.
'Will it hurt Brainstorm…?'
You sounded frightened but more worried than anything else.
”It will hurt a little bit, but bear with me my beloved…! It’s all for our future together…!” Brainstorm assured you with a wicked grin as he made the first bloody cut across your forehead.
For the next hour or so, the flier ignored all the attempts of others to contact him for one reason or another, was it the loss of your signal or mysterious alien sabotaging ship. He was too busy saving your relationship and one of the healthy relationship bases was quality time together.
With the last piece of you saved, Brainstorm smiled and looked down at his handwork. There was blood, dark, cold, and sticky, everywhere and all over mech’s hands, but the messy job was worth it because you were now categorized so neatly!
Every single piece of you, organs, limbs, extra blood, all categorized into their very own tanks, bottles, and vials!
'Wow, I had so little blood in me…!'
”I think you’re thinking about that Dexter series’ first season you made us watch. There were far more humans killed in that blood-filled room episode.”
'I always thought 5 liters would look bigger.'
Brainstorm chuckled. You were sometimes so silly. Brainstorm carefully picked your brains he had put to the side and carried them to his secret little lab inside the wall. He would need to collect every single bit of data and memory before your brain cells would lose all the information they hold in them.
He placed your brains on the stand and turned away to activate his machines and take out a handful of long sharp needles that he should definitely not have in his possession.
'What are those for Brainstorm?'
”Brilliant question my sweet spark! These needles are usually used when performing mnemosurgery on mechs for they have a unique feature in them that allows them to work through electricity with Cybertronian brain modules. Seeing that your humans' brains also work with electricity, I’m going to electrocute your brains to keep your brain cells active so they won’t die out too much before I get every essence of you saved to this little chip here on the computer.” Brainstorm explained, briefly motioning to the minimalistic supercomputer on the side while he attached wires to needles.
'Is it going to hurt also…? I don’t like needles…'
”I know you don’t, my darling oilcake, but bear with me…” The scientist grinned, pushing the first needle into your brains. ”There are only 13 needles left…!”
