Naleidea recounts how Wrathion and Anduin came to join in the expedition’s adventures in Stormwind, and the Dragon Isles. A snippet.

‘Uh, s-sorry?’

‘I asked if you’re a healer,’ she repeated, unfazed. ‘Are you alright, lad? Not afraid of boat rides, are you? It’s a long way from Stormwind to the Dragon Isles!’ she belly-laughed. Somehow, her demeanor alone was enough to snap Anduin out of it, if only slightly, and he smiled in response. He forced himself to lower his hand.

‘Yes ma’am, I am a healer. And not a problem, no. I’m looking forward to being a part of the Dragonscale Expedition, miss…?’

‘Toddy Whiskers, but none of that ‘miss’ stuff! Just call me Toddy. And you are…?’

Uh… ‘J… Je... rek. Jerek.’ His cheeks burned. He had no idea where that name came from. I mean, who even comes up with a name like that? Derek with a ‘J’? It’d clearly been far too long since he’d spoken with anyone that wasn’t himself, and his social skills might’ve been rustier than he’d like to admit.

‘Jerek…?’ Toddy frowned, but quickly recovered, not wanting her new recruit to get offended and abandon ship. ‘Well, that’s a unique name for a unique fellow. Welcome aboard, Jerek! Just sign these papers and we’ll be off in half an hour.’ Toddy stepped onto the ship and headed towards the crewmates, no doubt to help them get started to leave, while Anduin read the papers.

‘The Dragonscale Expedition Contract

We decline any and all responsibility over accidents due to unforeseen events, such as, but not limited to: shipwrecks, hunter proto-dragons, banana-throwing marmonis—’ Marmonis? ‘—etc. Rules and guidelines to be respected within the expedition are as follow:…’

Anduin quickly read it over, noting nothing out of the ordinary, except for a few unknown words, but he signed. He looked at the deck, full of researchers and adventurers like him: all eager to learn, live, and get away, though none knew what they were really getting into. Equal footing, he thought, much calmer than he was a few minutes ago.

‘All aboard the ship,’ the captain cried. ‘We set sail for the Dragon Isles!’ A cheer erupted from the crowd and Anduin couldn’t help but laugh. To think he was about to return to the Keep that same morning…

No, he wasn’t ready to go back to the throne. Not yet.
