If you are looking into head wrapping this is essential for women who have thinner typed hair. It works wonders for me and I have no problem with my wraps with this head shaper!!

headcovering thoughts
i’ve begun wearing tichel sort of often (just ordered a new red and gold one from wrapunzel). i feel comfortable, protected, most importantly jewish -- and i wonder if any of my converso ancestors did and/or felt the same at any point, even if in private or during worship away from the eyes of spain and portugal. i know a lot of them managed to escape the inquisition and live more freely, while others didn’t make it. i think often of the women in those numbers, and wondered the ways they held onto their judaism when persecution faced them.

Big yearning for the hair covering times
I haven’t been able to cover my hair in anyway for like a year and a half and I miss it so much. I’m trying to decide if I can afford an adjustable no-slip headband and a scarf from Wrapunzel right now (ok I can but I have other financial things that I may or may not be able to make work with this as well yknow) because I want to at least do half-wraps, but my hair is getting long enough that I could probably do full wraps without needing a full shaper.
I just miss it so much
#Jewish#hair covering#tichel#I’m either gonna do this or I’m gonna buy a kerchief from Jewitches#I just bought a new Magen David necklace from them and I cannot wait for it to come in#in the mean time I might get some cheap headbands

Someone favorited an older wrap post of mine, and I realized that I haven’t done a post in a while! Here’s one from April 4th. The purple scarf is from Wrapunzel, the lace headband is from a now defunct brand, and the velvet ribbon was from an Etsy shop, but I can no longer find it in my favorites. And yes, that’s a seal on my sweater dress!

Hello and welcome to my blog: Covering her Glory! Where we dive into head covering and what started the HCM (Head covering movement)
I'm very excited to get sharing my day to day head coverings with you all!
I stayed head covering about seven or eight months ago shortly after taking a trip to Senegal West Africa. My husband and I are missionaries and we were on our survey trip, and the biggest thing that stuck out to me was how all of the women head wrapped. Not because of their religion simply because of modesty sake and the culture, and I fell head over heels with the culture!
I wrap on a Dailey basis, and I've grown to absolutely love it.
But from a biblical standpoint I wrap because of 1 Corinthians 11:1-16
Where it talks about head wrapping and covering your glory for God and your husband!

Veil Shops I Support
One of the most frequently asked questions I get as a veiled pagan is where I shop. Here is a (running) list of the stores I patronize:
Wrapunzel - A small, Jewish woman owned business in Baltimore, MD. Global shipping. Check out: 2-in-1s, Israeli tichels, the shapers.
Haute Hijab - A medium sized, Muslim woman owned business in New York City. Global shipping. Check out: printed hijabs, sport hijabs, hijab magnets, silk underscarf.
AzelefaCo - A small, Muslim woman owned business in Toronto, Canada. Global shipping. I haven’t ordered from them yet, they’re next on my list.
Little Tichel Lady - A small, Jewish woman owned business in Los Angeles, CA. Global shipping. Check out: pretieds, hats, shapers, leatherette scarves.
Harmony Headwraps - A small, Jewish woman owned business in the UK (not sure where exactly). Global shipping. I just placed my first order, it should be here in mid-December.
More to be added as I shop. I do buy scarves from other places, but these are reputable shops specifically for veils.

So at some point a couple years ago, my exhaustion got so bad that I largely stopped convering my hair unless I had a hat, and during that time my scarves went missing, and I just wearily sort of accepted it.
But recently I've been particularly missing it and yesterday my new scarf from Wrapunzel arrived! It was reassuring how quickly I got it wrapped, haven't lost that skill at least! 🥰
I also got a little "pre-wrapped" scarf, which is just a long tube that gets gathered at the end and tucked up, if I'm really not feeling a proper scarf for whatever reason.
It just feels so NICE. The world feels a little more right and I feel a little less isolated here with only one shul that was actively unwelcoming to us.
Now I just have to remind myself how to do some of the prettier wraps again...
#tichel#hair covering#wrapunzel#I'm not Jewish yet#at this point it's entirely due to there being like one Rabbi in the state outside KC#and that one rabbi being awful to us#but it remains that I don't want to misrepresent
