Ugh your dads suck, his friend Phoebe texts when he tells them where he’s gone for the summer. And – yeah. Yeah, they do. What are they even going to do while you’re there? That’s a thing Chris usually doesn’t correct people about, the idea that he has Dads, Plural. It’s easier than talking about his dead mom, easier than answering people’s questions about why he only has Dad, Singular. People who have Mom, Singular don’t usually have to answer questions, but when it’s a dad, people get curious. He doesn’t really get why, but he knows it’s easier to just let them assume things sometimes. chris misses his dad. he misses his mom. he misses buck. he's still trying to figure out what it means that he misses them all in the same way.
