We all know what time it is, let’s go!
❄️☁️Ancient Of Ice☁️❄️
Tumblr media
=====================================
So recently Danny has been noticing that his parents with the GIW have been getting stronger and more ruthless and it’s not just him that noticed, the other ghost have started to stay in The Zone than in Amity and after his parents newest invention the Fenton-Rope ( Danny still has scars on his legs and parts on his lower back, and Danny had to stop Phantom from killing his parents which was harder than one would think and this will be important later ) and with less ghost around his Parents and the GIW have started to go after him a lot more than they used to and Danny has had to convince Phantom not to put Amity into eternal winter ( which would be really easy for the Ancient of Ice )
But he digresses until one of his parents invents get a bit too close to his core for comfort and he and phantom make the decision to leave to the ghost zone ( Danny’s dead enough to live in The Ghost zone without the normal consequences that come from a human living there ) but as they were about to leave though the portal ( Phantom and Danny are in their own body’s so separate, this will be important ) but as they power up the portal his parents enter the lab and a fight breaks out well phantom is trying to get the Fentons to back off so he and Danny can leave Jack shoots his Ecto-blaster at Phantom but hits Danny instead but you remember what I said earlier about Danny being dead enough for him to live in the zone well that means that the blasters work on him to and now he’s gone from enough dead to fully dead and is now a ghost
And at this Phantom absolutely loses his shit, he grabs the now ghost Danny and Wails which incases Jack and Maddie in ice and before phantom leaves to the Zone with Danny, he destroys the ice they are in and destroys them too than they go through the portal and Phantom makes a mad dash to his lair which he guesses is Danny’s now -{ Let me explain! So when a ghost becomes a couple like John and kitty or my pharaoh everlasting trio thing and they know that they will together forever their cores notices and merges their lairs together! Now back to this}- and after a bit ( there in their home which is a large castle that is in the heart of their lair ) Danny wakes up and has a breakdown or two because his Parents killed him and that has to do something to a person psyche but a few months later Danny fine and his and phantoms relationship is still very healthy (in ghost standards)
=====================================
And now onto the DCU part of this thing! So the JL somehow finds out about the stuff the GIW pulled and what the Fentons did ( which have been missing for the past months ) and with the help of JLD are trying to clean up the mess and make peace so they don’t rock their shit
But the Ghost are still a bit salty but are willing so the JL came to the Ghost zone so they can make peace contacts and connections and they go in a team ( Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Arrow, Green Lantern,Martian Manhunter and Tim with his team,Damien, and Dick with Wally ) and they are in a guest wing in the castle ( the ghost don’t what to make sure they don’t die so they mostly make them stay there but are allowed to walk and explore the castle and gardens but not outside of castle grounds) and as Batman with Wonder Woman and Superman walk into the garden they see Danny who is trying to grab a apple from one of the trees ( Danny doesn’t really love apples but when you live in an eternal winter, you tend to miss things like that but not that he doesn’t like the winter he does)
And for Batman with Wonder Woman and Superman see this teenage ghost person who is trying to grab this apple so Superman grabs the apple for him and gives it to him with a smile but as in it given to him it is covered in frost -{Danny has an ice core like his husband, Yes phantom is his husband I take no questions}- and they are a bit surprised but it’s a ghost and they don’t really know what they’re powers are and than they get into a conversation for a few minutes but that’s when Phantom shows up to grab Danny to bring him to the other Ancients
( The other Ancients treated Danny like their children and they have an somewhat in-laws relationship that is passive aggressive but they all adore Danny so they deal with each other )
And phantom just kinda just picked Danny up but Indoing so he somewhat revealed some of Danny’s scars on his legs -{told you this would be important later}-and the misunderstandings begin and it doesn’t help that Danny is often vague about his relationship with Phantom other than he’s his husband
=====================================
And now onto the details!
For Danny I’m thing something like this
Tumblr media
For than outfit I’m thinking this for the dress and for jewelry I’m thinking
Tumblr media
The pearls is a gift from Phantom and Danny loves them so he always wears them
=====================================
Tumblr media
And that’s all for this! I hope you guys like this, byeeeee

Top Ten Least Bad Outfits in TNG
I'm gonna be honest and say that the non-uniform outfits in TNG are not my favorite costume design in the world, but there are some looks that stick with me:
10. That Girl Who Kissed Data That One Time's Outfit:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I can never decide if I like this look or I think it's ugly, but I love the pants and tall boots combo. Her blouse is bad and the bouclé jacket is both too heavy and too fussy for this outfit, but I love the belt and suspenders combo, and the chevron embossing on the suspenders. This costume and all the others except #9 is a Robert Blackman design.
9. This Jumpsuit On That Girl From "The Dauphin":
Tumblr media
This is the only William Ware Theiss design on this list. I love his TOS stuff but most of his TNG designs leave me cold 🤷‍♀️. But I love this is extremely 80s jumpsuit. Love the pretty drape, love the ruching on the sleeves, love the harem pants silhouette. Only note is that the whole bodice should be a structured corset bodice instead of the kind of odd structured panel it has now.
8. Picard's Shorty Pyjama Set:
Tumblr media
TNG is absolutely full of the strangest pyjama choices you can imagine and Picard is no exception but I love this bold look. Would kill for this pyjama set. He also takes a work zoom wearing this one time which is insane.
7. Data's 1890's Looks But Specifically This One With The Shirtsleeves And The Blue Shirt:
Tumblr media
The best part of "Time's Arrow" is that Data isn't a fish out of water in the 1890s, he's absolutely killing it, and I love that the only real Casual Data look we get is this one. I prefer the blue shirt to the pink because Data should really wear more blue, it's a nice contrast with yellow. Please also note his emerald watch fob, which was 0% necessary to blend in, he's just having fun with it.
6. 12 Year Old Keiko's Linen Overalls:
Tumblr media
The paperbag waist! The bow! The little bows at the shirt cuffs! I can understand why she replicated a miniature copy of this outfit.
5. Beverly and Guinan's Dixon Hill Holodeck Costumes:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm counting these as one because they're essentially the same design in different color pallets but what color paletts! Bev is pulling off the very difficult pink+red+red hair and the mint green on Guinan is 🤌. I particularly love how Guinan's hat is so 1940s yet also echos the silhouette of her usual costume.
4. Deanna's Teal Dress:
Tumblr media
Like all of you I prefer Deanna in the uniform, but this dress slays, ok? The space age asymmetrical neckline. The drop waist. The structured bodice. The slit almost all the way to the hip. And of course the matching tights and shoes CANNOT BE BEATEN. Also one time I saw a dude on a Star Trek forum call this a "ballgown" which baffles me to this day, this is clearly a slightly fancy day dress.
3. Picard's 1890s Look:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You'd think Picard would go full posh in the 1890s but instead he gives us this working-class Shakespearean director look and he 👏 looks 👏 incredible 👏. Way to mix textures, Jean-Luc.
2. Lore's Turtleneck and Giant Vest:
Tumblr media
You and I know that Lore stole these clothes from the Pakleds because we pay a lot of attention to Star Trek costumes, but to a normal viewer Lore shows up and this is just his outfit!! It's giving, like, space-age goblincore and it's incredible. I want wear this oufit every day. I want to make a little doll Lore wearing this outfit to express my love for it. It's only not #1 because the pants are too orange and a strange weave.
Deanna's Ancient West Holodeck Outfit:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Deanna!!! The pants! The hat! The calico! She looks 10/10 hot in this outfit. For sure the superior version of this is before she gives her neckerchief to Worf (it really benefits from that cool highlight) but either way this is the best anyone's ever looked on that holodeck.

It is still absolutely a marvel to me how much BATFAMILY fic I have been reading and enjoying, it's been awhile since I've gone at such a sustained fever pitch so consistently, which is because this fandom keeps putting out fic that makes me fall in love all over again, along with all the comics I've been reading and enjoying. I am so delighted by how I can bounce around various eras or characters (well, let's be fair, I still have a Dick Grayson Problem That I Am Making Your Problem Too) and there's so much to read that I'm having trouble keeping up!
Join me in having the best problem: Too much good fic to read, because I swear that even when I'm crying because fic has punched me in the feelings, I'm still having a great time and it's definitely not a trap to lure you all into crying with me. Well, unless you're into that. And, in that case, READ AND CRY AND/OR MELT INTO GOO WITH ME, BECAUSE FANDOM IS PROVIDING.
BATFAM FIC RECS - BABY DICK IS THE CUTEST FERAL ROBIN I'M NOT HEARING ANY ARGUMENTS: ✦ Step One: Learning to Catch by TheBlueMoo, dick & bruce, 2k     “Okay, now extend your arms.” It was jarring, Bruce reflected, to be taking instructions from his nine-year-old ward. He was trying to think of it as receiving lessons from an expert gymnast instead, but it wasn’t really helping. or Dick freaks out during training one night, and Bruce isn't entirely sure why ✦ the quiet noise by orphan_account, dick & clark & jim (& bruce), 3.4k     When Batman is in surgery after a stab wound to the lung, Commissioner Gordon sits with Robin at the hospital as they wait for someone from the league to arrive. ✦ The art of falling in the rain by Bob_the_bastard, dick & bruce & alfred, 3.4k     Ordinarily it wouldn’t have been an issue, ordinarily Bruce would have taken a few steps back, caught his breath and continued on. But that night wasn’t normal. ✦ Our roots will not whither away by KrazySuperGirl, dick & bruce & alfred & cast, 6.4k     Bruce and Dick return to Gotham. There are plenty of problems and plenty of good days. ✦ Will Protect You From All Around You by zombiesbecrazy, dick & bruce, 3k     Bruce has always expected that one day he'll wake up and feel like a Real Adult, but it hasn't happened yet. Why had he thought that this parenting thing would be easy? ✦ Fly South by SonoSvegliato, dick & bruce & alfred, 1.9k     Birds fly south in winter. Robin leaves in the summer. ✦ Vertigo by tinycrown, dick & bruce & ollie & cast, 1.8k     After being ambushed by Count Vertigo's men, Batman's partner isn't doing so well. Green Arrow observes. ✦ Friends by mx_chrx99, dick & bruce & alfred, 2.3k     The manor loomed large, surrounded by acres of manicured grass and trees bursting with autumnal colors that made Dick feel like he was gazing at a forest on fire. He was distantly aware that the scene in front of him was incredible, something out of a storybook. He should have been amazed and even grateful, but all he could think was, 'Mom would have loved this.' ✦ There For You by Val_Creative, dick & bruce & cast, 2.4k     Snapshots of how Robin came to be Batman's trusted partner and how Dick became Bruce's beloved son. /Standalone. No pairings. ✦ tummy troubles by brandywine421, dick & bruce & alfred, 1.5k     Bruce sat down on the edge of the bed and warily pulled back the covers. Dick blinked at him with wide, sad blue eyes. "What's wrong?" "Don't feel good," he murmured, scowling when Bruce curled his hand against his cheek. "My stomach hurts." ✦ Stay a Child by ijustwanttodestroy, dick & bruce & alfred, 2.2k     “Redo it, Bruce orders. “Aw, come on!” Dick dares to pout — a thing that he uses often, and would work on anyone but Bruce and Alfred. Sometimes. Bruce gives him a look. “I’m not going to do it for you.” “I’m going to misdo it until you do,” Dick threatens. ✦ Whole, but not hale by Fae_Winter, dick & bruce & alfred & clark, 1.5k     Bruce was never listening to Clark again, damnit ✦ Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes by catboysam, dick & bruce, 1k     Bruce wishes, as he has wished every minute of every day for nearly 20 years, that things were different for himself. But now he also wishes that for Dick. No child should have to experience what they have. But he really is selfish, it seems, because at the same time, how could he possibly want to give up a single second with this little miracle in his arms? ✦ yet to be friends by rxsecret, dick & bruce & clark & cast, 2.3k     It's the annual Wayne Gala, and one of the few reporters allowed at the event just so happened to be from Metropolis. ✦ And I’ll look into your eyes to find out if I’m real by Fleur_de_Violette, bruce & dick, 1.6k     Bruce wants a lot of things. A bath. Seeing his family. Not having been missing for a whole year. He wants Dick to wake up and realize he’s not a hallucination.
BATFAM FIC RECS - ADULT BATSON AND BATDAD ARE MY KRYPTONITE, I FOLD LIKE WET CARDBOARD FOR THEM: ✦ medicine by daringyounggrayson, dick & bruce, ~1k     “We have to get out of here,” Dick says, trying and failing to sit up. “Before, before they get back.” “Dick, listen to me. You’re sick,” Bruce says, running a hand through Dick’s hair. “You’re in an isolation unit at the Watchtower’s medical bay.” Dick shakes his head. That can’t be right. “They’re trying to, to poison me.” ✦ Someday All Of This Will Go Away by WanderIntoFics, dick & bruce, alternate version character death, 2.3k     Bruce never stopped telling Dick he loved him. It takes a heart-wrenching and terrifying experience with an alternate future Bruce for Dick to realize that maybe he stopped being able to hear it. ✦ vacation town by daringyounggrayson, dick & bruce, 1.6k     Normally, Dick wouldn't enjoy recovering from a stab wound from a poisoned knife, but he has to admit, it's nice to be home. ✦ all i can by emavee, dick & bruce, 1.7k     Whatever they injected Dick with is taking away his senses. Bruce tries to hold on for both of them. ✦ my arms will hold you, keep you safe and warm by emavee, dick & bruce, 5.6k wip     Five times Dick held Bruce's hand, and one time Bruce held his. ✦ Moving on by Fleur_de_Violette, dick & bruce & cast, 2.7k     When he’d been called to Gotham, Dick had expected to do the job and then get moving to the next thing, and then the next, and then the next. An abrupt meeting with the side of a building interrupts his plans.
BATFAM FIC RECS - EVERYBODY LOVES DICK: ✦ Chatterbox by Ptelea, bruce & dick & jason & tim & damian & donna & roy & cast, 24.7k     "Yeah, I'm fine," Dick said. Then he frowned, because he had not just meant to say that. Or: Eight times that spells or serums affected Dick's ability to speak and / or their aftermath. ✦ Misremembered and Misnumbered by miss_aphelion, bruce & dick & jason & clark & diana, 1.9k     Dick may not actually be quite as old as he told everyone he was. In his defense, it wasn't so much lying as that he sort of just forgot. ✦ WE'LL LIVE IN SPACES BETWEEN WALLS. by orpheusaki, bruce & dick & jason, time travel, 4.6k     (Something is different about Dick. Bruce notices.) ✦ Tonight Will Be a Memory Too by Sohotthateveryonedied, dick & cass & bruce, 1.2k     They don’t happen often—once a month or so, with varying degrees of spottiness. Sometimes Dick will walk into a room and forget what he’s there for. He’ll forget the locations of things, like where he left his keys or where the refrigerator is. Once he forgot his own name. Even if the episodes don’t occur often, that doesn’t make them any less terrifying. ✦ Can I Sleep With You? by Lady_of_Lorule, dick & bruce & damian & titans & cast, 2k     “Dick? What is it? Are you okay?” he asked. “‘Had a nightmare,” the boy murmured, wiping at his nose quickly, then sending a darting look at Bruce. “Can I...can I sleep with you?” ✦ Broken Silence by Geeves, bruce & dick & cast, 1.3k     Bruce reflects on how quiet the manor used to be. It could be painful at times, but it's not like that anymore. ✦ the care and keeping of your baby talon by quandaries_and_contradictions, dick & bruce & jason & tim & damian & duke & alfred, reverse robins, talon!dick, 6k     In which everyone is more than a little cautious about the talon Duke brought home. Featuring chandelier swinging, Secret Garden reading, ill-advised sleuthing, and more. ✦ One, Two, Buckle My Shoe by Anonymous, bruce & dick & jason & tim & damian & alfred & cast, 11.3k wip     Dick was twenty-eight. The boy in the mirror most certainly was not. ✦ Iron Bound by coyote_nebula, bruce & dick & jason, 3.1k     Batman never ran out of solutions. He just ran out of ideal solutions. Nightwing finds himself in a tight spot involving a compact car-sized paper roll. ✦ The Mantle by ValleyOfKings, dick & clark & diana & justice league (& bruce) & cast, 2.9k     Batman ‘dies’ and Dick must takes his place. He doesn't want the job but he knows that it is what he must do. He must accept the mantle and protect Gotham. The Justice League must also accept their new Batman. It might have helped if they knew that Batman didn't work as alone as they had once thought. ✦ Bravery, and everything that looks like it by Fleur_de_Violette, bruce & dick & steph, 3.4k     Bruce had promised Dick a fun and chill weekend. Instead, they find themselves in the middle of a burning chemical facility. When he thinks everyone should have been evacuated, Nightwing finds a scientist trying to secure some sort of container. She’s either very brave, or she has a death wish.
BATFAM FIC RECS - JASON TODD IS AN ASSHOLE CAT, I'M GONNA THROW HIM AT DICK BECAUSE IT'S FUNNY (AND MAYBE SOME OF HIS OTHER SIBLINGS TOO): ✦ Superhero: Dick Grayson by batmoniker, dick & jason & cast, 5.3k     In which Dick shows up at the school to pick Jason up after he gets into a fight. ✦ Homecoming by sElkieNight60, dick & jason & bruce, 1.2k     Jason's doped up on pain-meds. Dick's holding his hand while he's bedside monitor. Bruce probably wishes he had a camera. ✦ I do not have wings love (I never will) by dizarys, dick & jason & bruce, 2.5k     Jason Todd was alive. He was also bleeding out on Dick Grayson’s apartment floor. How 'Under the Red Hood' might have ended if Dick was at Bruce and Jason's final warehouse confrontation.
BATFAM FIC RECS - BATKIDS ALL HAVE MANY SIBLINGS AND THEY'RE ALL PETTY ASSHOLES AND/OR WONDERFUL BABIES AND I LOVE THEM WITH MY WHOLE BEING: ✦ cashmere-soft and irresistible by victoria_p (musesfool), cass/steph, ~1k     Cass and Steph and dumplings and lipstick. ✦ Picking Up Pieces by Cephalogod, bruce & steph & dick, 4k     “Bruce!” Steph called as she approached, weaving between people. His head snapped towards her, and the stark relief in his expression almost stopped her in her tracks. That was just...wrong. Bruce wasn’t supposed to be relieved to see her. He was supposed to be annoyed or resignedly amused, not looking at her like a life raft in the ocean. ✦ Make an Ass of U and Me by Huntress79, Sevidri, bruce/clark & dick, 11.2k     Bruce neglects to explain exactly who the attractive young man that seems to know him so well is, and what their relationship entails. Naturally, there are some misunderstandings. ✦ Presque Vu by PechoraFlow, bruce & dick & jason & tim & damian & cass & steph & alfred & cast, 17.4k wip     Bruce gets amnesia and the Batfamily conspires to keep their vigilante side secret from him. They were just trying to keep him home, safe until he recovered. They expected that Bruce would pick up on clues and put together The Batman secret on his own. They didn't expect him to form a different picture entirely. They didn't expect Bruce Wayne would come to hate the Batman.
BATFAM FIC RECS - I CUT MY TEETH ON DICK & TIM AS CLOSE BROTHERS AND NO ONE WILL NOT TAKE IT FROM ME: ✦ spread your wings by wingedgrace, dick & tim, 2.1k     “Why did you give Robin to Damian?” Dick pinched his nose. He’d started to pick up some of Batman’s habits, whether he realized it or not. “Tim, we’re not talking about this again. We’re talking about how you’re off on this… quest, to prove that Bruce is still alive. And I just want to talk. Come home.” ✦ Time Loop vs Ethiopia by AJElementus, dick & tim (& bruce & jason), 9.1k     In one universe, Jason died while Dick was on a space mission with the Titans. In another? There’s a time loop. In which Jason doesn’t die, Tim joins the family early, and Dick... well... Dick's just trying to figure out what's going on! ✦ so won't you stay, won't you stay (with me?) by dizarys, dick & tim, 1.3k     Tim's having a hard night. So where else does he go but to his big brother's apartment? ✦ under the wing by acrobats, dick & tim & cast, 1.4k     “Sometimes being a brother is even better than being a superhero.” – Marc Brown
BATFAM FIC RECS - I WILL DIE ON THE HILL THAT TIM DRAKE'S TRUE LOVE INTEREST IS CONNER KENT AND NOBODY CAN STOP ME, NOT EVEN GOD: ✦ buy back the secrets by sundiscus, tim/kon & bruce & clark & jason & cast, 71k wip     He takes a long, slow breath. Ignores the glares from the other students. “Superboy,” he murmurs. “It’s me. If you’re listening, I could use some help.” Or: 5 times Superboy saves Tim Drake, and one time Tim Drake saves Superboy. ✦ Can't Shake the Feeling by Hayleythewriter, tim/kon & tim/bernard & cassie & bart & dick & damian & cast, 17k     Tim introduces his boyfriend to his friends. Almost everyone likes him. ✦ The Electric Pull of Spring by Merelymine, tim/kon, nsfw, 4.3k     "I feel fine," Kon says, breathing deeply. He leans towards Tim and takes an even deeper, longer breath. "I feel really, really good, actually. And you smell—you smell really good." ✦ A No Good Very Bad Day by mademoisellePlume, tim/kon & jason & lois, read the tags, 3.7k     You’d think drugging a half-Kryptonian into sleep would be half as easy as taking a full Kryptonian out of commission. But no, life couldn’t be that simple for Jason, could it? He watched Superboy stumble down the hallway in his pyjama pants, eyes half-lidded and sweating like Two-Face when a flipped coin balanced on its edge. ✦ Pandora's Other Box by FridaysChild, tim/kon & dick & bart & kate & ma kent, 2.5k     Prompt: "Kon and Tim identify as straight. After realising their mutual attraction, they both freak out in different ways."
BATFAM FIC RECS - I SAY THIS IS A BATFAM REC LIST BUT SOMETIMES YOU JUST GOTTA SHOVE THOSE ASSHOLES OUT OF THE WAY AND READ SOME SUPERFIC: ✦ Adoptions by Kannika, clark & conner & cast, 2.7k     Clark prepared for a lot of things, getting closer to Conner. This is not one of them. ✦ Aftershock by sElkieNight60, clark/lois & conner & jon, 13k wip     He knows this is awkward for Clark. It’s awkward for them both. They were gonna start slow. Warm up to each other. Maybe go apple-picking in the summer. A movie, a restaurant, bowling, or something. But a sleepover, really? That wasn’t going slow. ✦ IS IT JUST YOU AND ME IN THE WRECKAGE OF THE WORLD? by orpheusaki, clark & conner & bruce & diana & jason & cast, 2.2k     "You look happy, Kal." She's right, Clark is overjoyed. In between shopping for children's clothes with Lois (after she'd gotten over the shock of it all, which was surprisingly quick. Clark thinks Lois might prefer Conner to him now, not that he blames her for it) and wandering around the Fortress of Solitude with a small palm tucked into his own, Clark hasn't stopped grinning, "Superman is no longer the only Kryptonian alive." (Clark saves Conner from CADMUS as a child AU.)
BATFAM FIC RECS - TAKE THE ANGST DIAL, TURN IT UP TO ELEVEN, AND BREAK THE KNOB OFF, THAT'S WHAT I'M HERE FOR: ✦ oh but if I could choose, I would choose not to feel by dizarys, bruce & dick & donna & cast, 1.4k     His eyes flicked over the long room, evaluating and searching. When he finally spotted him, Bruce’s heart plummeted. Dick Grayson was slouched at the crumb flecked bar counter, staring blankly into a barely touched pint with a hand twisted in his hair. Misery personified. ✦ batman by hellsreluctantheir, dick & jason & tim & bruce, 57.3k     Dick came back from a trip to space to a dead father figure, a grieving, guilty little brother, and a legacy waiting for him. Suddenly he's moving back to Gotham, playing Bat, trying to keep Jason from spiraling, trying to keep himself from spiraling, with the added bonus of a kid stalking him at the grocery store. It takes two years before things start to feel like they're getting better. Which is right about when the Red Hood comes to town. ✦ Day 3 - Nightmares (2.2) by fanfictiongreenirises, bruce & dick & tim, 3.3k     Bruce is resigned to the nightmares after their most recent kidnapping. But that doesn't mean they don't have an impact on him. ✦ My Brother's Keeper by Chemical_Processes, dick & damian & tim & cast, 6.2k     Tim gets hit with Fear while on a league mission, and it's Damian's job to get him home in one piece. ✦ Pale Reflections by BearlyWriting, bruce & dick & jason & tim & cast, 2.6k     ‘Bruce blinks again. A chill breeze brushes against him, searching for a way through his uniform. Concrete, Bruce tells himself, it’s concrete, not sand. It’s water, not blood. It’s Dick. And yet, he’s as still as Jason was then, as lifeless. Bruce moves without thinking. He isn’t thinking. His mind is utterly blank, a void in his head.’ ✦ love brought weight to this heart by dizarys, bruce & dick & john & mary & damian & duke, 1.9k     Of course Dick came by every time Haly’s was in town. But he loved when his family was able to join him. And now, with lights illuminating the big top, performers streaming into the ring with flashy costumes, and his family enthralled, Dick felt at peace. Both sides of his life were together. It should’ve been perfect. And looking back, he still wasn’t sure what pushed it off course. But it might have been the fire. ✦ what's in a name by envysparkler, bruce & dick & jason, 4.5k     Kidnappers strike at a gala and abduct two of Bruce Wayne’s sons. Or at least that’s what they think. ✦ I’m gambling with the sun (on which one of us dies young) by dizarys, dick & jason & donna & roy & tim & damian & cassandra & cast, 6.9k     The Justice League have been wiped from existence by Pariah, leaving Nightwing to once again navigate the death of Batman. But this time, even with his siblings and friends rallying around him, the cracks start to show ✦ (someone told me) love would all save us by YouAreTheBrightest234 (TransLucas), bruce & dick & tim, 1k     Dick is floating in an abyss of black. It is not peaceful, yet not malicious. It simply is. ✦ Slipping 998° by CKBookish, bruce & dick & tim & cast, 2.5k     When a house fire turns deadly Bruce wonders if he will be too late... again.

mr. green flag / park jongseong
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
synopsis: after dating the wrong guys, you wanted to give up love and relationships. although, a man named park jongseong changed things for you.
pairing: nonidol!jay x nonidol!yn
warnings: cheating, red flag boyfriends, love triangles, cuss words
The bartender was most likely your best friend now since you basically came to the bar every week or two. Crying over a guy who definitely not worth your tears and time. But the bartender was very understanding of your situation and tried his very best to provide comfort and reassurance.
You found out his name was Terry. He's been working at the bar as his second job just to make extra money. Such a nice genuine guy, someone you wish you could date but for some reason, the universe hated your guts, or you just did so horrible in your past life that you need to be punished in this life.
"Okay, last one for tonight. You still got to drive yourself home" he slides your drink towards you with a serious but caring look on his face. "When are you going to break up with that douchebag?" all the arrows pointed to breaking up with him, but since you were so blinded, you couldn't just let him go. As stupid as it was, you loved him despite all the foolish and childish things he has done to you.
"I love you; I do. But I hate seeing you walk through the door with a frown on your face and tears running down your face. It's time you be single or date a good guy" terry doesn't know how many times he had already said these things to you, but he has to remind you every time.
On the drive home, you were dreading it. What if you open the door to your shared apartment with your boyfriend and see him banging another girl? why did you have to be so stupid and such a coward, why couldn't you just say the words "let's break up" or "I'm done" then follow up with a "get out of my apartment" then be over with it.
Luckily for you, the universe wanted to be a little bit kinder to you, you opened the door to your apartment and no, your boyfriend wasn't hooking up with someone. But you knew, he probably already did earlier in the day. As you make your way into the kitchen to drink some medicine and water, you receive a text from terry.
terry: don't forget what I said earlier, you can't say you forgot because we both know you're not drunk.
You sigh and head to your bedroom where your boyfriend is playing video games. You turn on the light and he immediately spin around in his chair and starts yelling at how you disrupted his game.
This is it; you just have to do it. Just say the words yn. "I'm breaking up you, by tomorrow morning, I expect you to be out of this house and my life."
That was a whole month ago, now you were currently single and moving on. Instead of being at the bar with terry, you were at the mall. "I'm proud of you yn, it's been a month and from what I've notice, you're doing great" you smile and nod, "I honestly did not know where the confidence came from when I broke up with him."
You recall all the times you got broken up with by your past 2 boyfriends. they all treated you the way your 3rd boyfriend did. Realizing that all these three, when you started dating them, they would put up a persona, a facade as if they were good guys and they would treat you the way you deserved. They promised things that turned to be absolutely bullshit and empty promises. Then down the road, they would slowly show their true colors and behaviors.
"Maybe I'm meant to be single, maybe i should just give up on relationships" terry listens to your rants and future goals. Listing down all the things you want to do now since you were free from manipulators and controlling men. "Who knows, Mr. right is just around the corner" he pretends to look around, but you miss the real intention or message behind that remark from terry.
Relationships and love were now long gone from your life, and you wanted it to stay that way. Being in those toxic and shitty relationships, you lost yourself. Now it was time to bring that lively and passionate girl back. to do so, old passions, goals, dreams were revisited and worked on again. as months passed, the old you started to resurface. You felt happy, you felt like yourself.
Once day, you went to visit your family house, and in that house, there was a basement where your old stuff was placed in boxes. You placed them there so no one could mess with them and for your old room to be used for whenever they had guest over. Looking through your stuff, you reached over for your guitar that was in its case. The instrument that was your whole life. It was quite upsetting that whenever you would play guitar in your apartment, your ex would get mad at you, claiming how loud you were and how bad you were at playing. it caused you to stop and feel insecure over something you so sure of since you were little. You placed the guitar on your lap and started playing, you haven't played in a long time, but muscle memory was helping you so much.
You got back on your game, focusing on school and looking for a part time job to earn money. You were spending so much time with yourself, you forgot to spend quality time with your friends too. You had terry, chaeryoung, and jake. You weren't a group, but you used to hang out with them separately.
Putting down the paint brush and picking up the disregarded phone on the floor, you dial jake's number. After a few rings he picks up with a sassy but not serious tone. "You remember I exist huh, yn?" you laugh in an apology and ask him if he wants to go out. To which he agrees and tells you he'd be there to pick you up in 15 minutes.
Jake and you go way back, you met him in Australia when you were on vacation. Everyone in your family were appreciating the view as they were sight-seeing. But you were more interested in the golden border collie that was staring back at you and wagging her tail as you made grabby hands at her. Only being 10 years old, your parents didn't let you go anywhere unsupervised, so they kept a tight hold on you, but you just had to pet the cute puppy. With enough wiggling out of their grasp and run away. "Hi, can i pet your puppy?" looking up at the lady who was holding the leash. She gives you the green light and starts asking you questions. "what's your name?" "Where are your parents?" "How old are you?" obviously, you answered her with respect. later, a young boy, who seems to be the son of the lady comes up and says hi. A very friendly boy with an Australian accent asks you if you wanna be friends.
That's where it all began. it was a long-distance friendship, not until jake decided to go back to Korea. You two have been glued to each other's hip since then, he was there for you for everything, for the good and bad. he's seen all the men you'd dated and unlike terry who was the "good cop", jake was the "bad cop" telling you how it was and even if it had to be said in the harshest way, he'd say it. When you told him you ended your recent relationship, happy was an understatement with how Jake felt.
Today, he still is your best friend. "Jake, stop letting me win, it ain't fun that way" stern look on your face as you stare at your best friend who is standing by the goal post. "I'm not, you're just really good" he shrugs his shoulders with that award winning smile. "you're not even moving; you're not even blocking the ball" you whine as you walk up to him.
The whole day was probably spent with Jake, it was getting dark, and it was time to part ways. or so you thought. Jake comes back to you after taking a call from a friend. "Hey, my friend Sunghoon called me saying how he has two extra tickets to that movie we were just talking about, you wanna go?" saying yes, you alert your parents with a text, letting them know you'll be home late.
On the way Jake opens up the topic of romance, asking for an update. "you're not seeing any losers, aren't you?" he chuckles, and he looks at the sour face you made. "No, I'm going to stay single for a long time" emphasize on the word long.
The whole time, you just thought that it would be the three of you, that you only had to meet Sunghoon. But no, you were standing there, with maybe the most good-looking guy you have ever seen. Jake would probably disagree and say it was him. Once you arrive and jake found Sunghoon, you immediately greet him and share banter, then another guy comes from the bathroom and greets you as well.
"Hi, I'm jay. You must be jake's friend he keeps complaining about." He jokes, and when he smiled, you might have just melted, he turns to Sunghoon, and you saw how sharp his jawline was. He was incredibly handsome that it makes you question if you should really give up on love or not.
"What do you mean, complaining...jake?!" you slap jake's arm and face your whole body towards him. "What have you been saying to them?!" you kept slapping his arm until he stops laughing and taking a hold of you. "I tell them how crazily stupid you are when it comes to dating and how I am tired of trying to save your ass yn" he explained while laughing like there was no tomorrow.
"If I was dating you, I think I'd be the one crazily in love" jay speaks and it makes your mind literally stop working, the cogs in your brain stopped and malfunctioned. "Damn you just met her, and you're already smitten?" Sunghoon chuckles and shakes his head, leading you all towards the room where the movie was going to play.
As the movie played, you couldn't help but steal glances at Jay, his profile illuminated by the flickering light of the screen. Each time your eyes met, a playful smile danced on his lips, igniting a warmth in your chest that had nothing to do with the theater's heating.
When the credits finally rolled, and the lights brightened, Jay turned to you with a grin. "Well, that was a rollercoaster," he remarked, his voice light with amusement. You chuckled in agreement, feeling a sense of ease settle between you. "Definitely kept us on the edge of our seats," you replied, matching his playful tone.
Stepping out into the cool evening air, the bustling chatter of the crowd surrounding you faded into the background as you and Jay fell into conversation. It was effortless, as if you'd known each other for years rather than mere hours. You found yourselves sharing anecdotes, swapping stories, and delving into shared interests with an enthusiasm that felt electric.
"So, what's your favorite movie of all time?" Jay asked, his eyes alight with curiosity as he turned to you. You paused, considering his question with a thoughtful expression. "Hmm, tough one," you mused, a smile quirking at the corners of your lips. "But if I had to choose, I'd say 'Inception.' The whole concept of dreams within dreams just blows my mind."
Jay nodded, his own smile widening. "Ah, a fellow fan of mind-bending plots," he replied, a hint of admiration in his voice. "I'm more of a 'Shawshank Redemption' guy myself. Can't beat a classic."
As you continued to chat and laugh together, the connection between you deepened, each shared moment cementing the bond that seemed to grow stronger with every passing second. It was a feeling unlike any you'd experienced before, a sense of belonging and understanding that left you yearning for more.
And as you walked side by side, the city lights casting a gentle glow upon your faces, you couldn't shake the feeling that this unexpected encounter with Jay was just the beginning of something truly extraordinary.
After the movie, as you all parted ways, Jay lingered, asking if you'd like to grab a coffee sometime. His smile was genuine, his eyes kind, and in that moment, you felt a glimmer of hope stir within you. Maybe, just maybe, there was something worth exploring beyond the scars of your past relationships.
As you said goodbye to Jay and watched him walk away with a quickening heart, Jake nudged you playfully. "Well, well, looks like someone's got a fan," he teased, grinning mischievously.
You rolled your eyes, but couldn't suppress the smile that tugged at your lips. "Shut up, Jake," you replied, nudging him back. But deep down, you couldn't deny the warmth that Jay's presence had ignited within you, a flicker of possibility in a heart once shrouded in doubt.
In the days that followed your encounter with Jay, your mind became consumed with swirling doubts and questions, overshadowing the initial excitement and warmth you felt in his presence. Despite the undeniable chemistry and the effortless connection you shared, the scars of past heartbreaks loomed large, casting a shadow of uncertainty over your burgeoning feelings.
As you went about your daily routine, thoughts of Jay lingered in the back of your mind, a constant presence that refused to be ignored. You found yourself replaying your conversations, analyzing every word and gesture, searching for signs of hidden agendas or red flags that might betray his true intentions.
"What if I'm just setting myself up for another disappointment?" you whispered to yourself, the weight of past betrayals heavy on your shoulders. The fear of being hurt again, of having your trust shattered and your heart broken, threatened to suffocate the budding hope that had dared to take root in your chest.
You confided in your closest friends, seeking their advice and perspective on the situation. Terry offered words of encouragement, reminding you of your resilience and strength in overcoming past obstacles. "Don't let fear dictate your happiness," he urged, his voice gentle but firm. "Take a chance, yn. You deserve to find love again, and Jay might just be the one to help you rediscover it."
But despite Terry's reassurances, the nagging doubts persisted, gnawing at your confidence and filling your mind with endless what-ifs. What if history were to repeat itself? What if Jay turned out to be just like the others, another heartbreaker in disguise?
As you tossed and turned in bed, sleep eluding you in the late hours of the night, you couldn't shake the feeling of uncertainty that gripped your heart. The prospect of opening yourself up to love once more felt both exhilarating and terrifying, a delicate balance between hope and fear that left you teetering on the edge of indecision.
With a sigh, you sank into the soft cushions, the weight of your worries pressing heavily upon you. "I just... I don't know what to do, Chaeryoung," you admitted, your voice barely above a whisper. "I'm so afraid of getting hurt again, of making the same mistakes I've made in the past."
Chaeryoung listened attentively, her gaze unwavering as she reached out to gently grasp your hand in hers. "I understand, yn," she said softly, her voice filled with empathy. "But you can't let the fear of the past dictate your future. Sometimes, taking a chance on love means embracing the possibility of heartache, knowing that the journey is worth the risk."
You nodded, tears welling in your eyes as Chaeryoung's words struck a chord deep within you. "But what if I'm not strong enough to handle it?" you whispered, the fear of vulnerability threatening to consume you.
Chaeryoung squeezed your hand reassuringly, her expression filled with unwavering support. "You are stronger than you know, yn," she said firmly, her voice filled with conviction. "And you don't have to face this alone. I'll be here for you every step of the way, no matter what happens."
The day of your coffee date with Jay arrived, and despite the lingering doubts that still gnawed at the edges of your mind, you found yourself determined to embrace the opportunity with an open heart. As you stood in front of the mirror, smoothing down your outfit and running a nervous hand through your hair, you couldn't help but feel a surge of anticipation mingled with trepidation.
When you arrived, Jay was already there, waiting patiently at a table near the window with a warm smile on his lips. As you approached, his eyes lit up with genuine delight, and you felt a rush of warmth flood your cheeks at the sight of him.
"Hey, yn, I'm so glad you could make it," Jay said, rising from his seat to greet you with a friendly hug. "You look amazing."
You returned his smile with a shy grin of your own, the tension in your shoulders easing slightly at his easygoing demeanor. "Thanks, Jay," you replied, feeling a surge of gratitude for his kindness and understanding.
As you settled into your seats and engaged in conversation, you found yourself swept away by Jay's charm and wit, his easy laughter and genuine interest in getting to know you better putting you at ease. With each passing moment, the doubts and insecurities that had plagued you began to fade into the background, replaced by a sense of connection and possibility that left you breathless with anticipation.
Midway through the date, as the conversation flowed effortlessly between you and Jay, you found yourself laughing at his animated retelling of a recent mishap at work. His eyes sparkled with amusement, his infectious laughter filling the air and drawing a smile to your lips.
"You wouldn't believe it," Jay exclaimed, his hands gesturing wildly as he recounted the comical series of events. "I swear, if it weren't for my quick thinking, we would have been knee-deep in paperwork!"
You chuckled, shaking your head in amusement. "Well, I'm glad you were able to save the day," you replied, unable to tear your gaze away from the twinkle in Jay's eyes. "Sounds like you're quite the hero."
Jay grinned, his dimples deepening as he leaned back in his chair. "Oh, you have no idea," he teased, his voice laced with playful exaggeration. "I've got a cape and everything."
The two of you shared a laugh, the tension easing between you as you basked in the warmth of each other's company. With each passing moment, you felt yourself growing more comfortable and at ease with Jay, the initial nerves of the date fading into the background as you lost yourself in the easy banter and shared laughter.
And as you shared another round of laughter with Jay, the doubts and insecurities that had once clouded your mind seemed to melt away, replaced by a growing sense of hope and possibility that whispered of new beginnings and endless horizons. With a smile on your lips and a lightness in your heart, you leaned in closer to Jay, eager to savor every moment of this unexpected journey that had brought you together.
As the evening drew to a close and the coffee shop began to empty out, you and Jay found yourselves lingering at your table, reluctant to part ways just yet. The easy conversation and shared laughter had created a bond between you that felt both comforting and exhilarating, leaving you reluctant to let the night end.
As you gathered your belongings and prepared to leave, Jay rose from his seat and offered you a warm smile. "Well, yn, I had a really great time tonight," he said sincerely, his eyes meeting yours with a gentle warmth that sent a flutter of excitement through your chest.
You returned his smile, feeling a sense of gratitude wash over you for the unexpected connection you had shared. "I did too, Jay," you replied, your voice soft with sincerity. "Thank you for such a wonderful evening."
As you made your way outside, the cool night air wrapping around you like a comforting embrace, Jay walked beside you in easy silence, his presence a reassuring presence at your side. The streets were quiet now, the bustling city fading into the background as you walked side by side, lost in your own thoughts.
When you finally reached your doorstep, you turned to face Jay, feeling a mixture of reluctance and anticipation swirling within you. "Well, this is me," you said with a hesitant smile, gesturing to the entrance of your building.
Jay nodded, his expression softening with a hint of regret. "Yeah, it is," he replied, his voice tinged with a hint of sadness. "I wish we could stay out here all night."
You chuckled softly, feeling a pang of disappointment at the thought of saying goodbye so soon. "Me too," you admitted, your heart heavy with the weight of impending separation.
For a moment, the two of you stood in silence, the unspoken words hanging in the air between you like a delicate thread. And then, without warning, Jay reached out to gently grasp your hand in his, his touch sending a jolt of electricity through your veins.
"I really want to kiss you right now, yn," Jay said softly, his eyes meeting yours with a mixture of longing and respect. "But I don't want to rush things. I want to take things slow, and I want to make sure you feel comfortable every step of the way."
His words were like a balm to your weary heart, a reminder that not all men were like the ones who had hurt you in the past. And as you looked into Jay's eyes, you saw nothing but sincerity and kindness reflected back at you, filling you with a sense of warmth and gratitude that you hadn't felt in a long time.
With a grateful smile, you squeezed Jay's hand gently, feeling a sense of relief wash over you at his understanding and compassion. "Thank you, Jay," you whispered, your voice barely above a whisper. "I really appreciate that."
And as you stood there in the soft glow of the streetlights, the night stretching out before you like a canvas waiting to be painted, you knew that this unexpected encounter with Jay was just the beginning of a journey filled with hope, healing, and the promise of a love that was worth waiting for.
A few weeks had passed since your coffee date with Jay, and life had quickly resumed its hectic pace. Between work commitments, family obligations, and the occasional outing with friends, you found yourself swept up in a whirlwind of activity, the days blurring together in a haze of busyness and distraction.
Despite the outward appearance of normalcy, however, there was a lingering sense of restlessness that gnawed at the edges of your mind, a quiet unease that whispered of unresolved worries and unspoken fears. You had thrown yourself into your daily routines with a sense of determination and purpose, but beneath the surface, a part of you still felt adrift, searching for something elusive and intangible.
Your friends had noticed the change in you, their concerned glances and probing questions a constant reminder of the facade you had erected to shield yourself from their scrutiny. Terry, Chaeryoung, and Jake had all voiced their concerns, offering words of support and encouragement in their own unique ways, but you had brushed off their worries with a casual wave of your hand, insisting that you were fine and that there was nothing to be concerned about.
But deep down, you knew that wasn't entirely true. The truth was, you were struggling to keep up appearances, to maintain the facade of strength and resilience that you had carefully crafted to hide the vulnerability and uncertainty that lurked within. You were tired of pretending, tired of wearing a mask that no longer fit, but you didn't know how to let it go, how to break free from the chains that bound you to a life that felt increasingly hollow and unfulfilling.
It was on one such day, as you sat alone in your apartment, lost in a sea of thoughts and doubts, that there came a knock at your door. Startled from your reverie, you rose from your seat and made your way to the entrance, your heart pounding with a mixture of apprehension and curiosity.
When you opened the door, you were surprised to find Jay standing on the other side, his expression a mixture of concern and determination. "Hey, yn," he said softly, his eyes searching yours for any sign of the turmoil that lay beneath the surface. "Can I come in?"
You hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to say or how to explain the maelstrom of emotions that churned within you. But as you looked into Jay's eyes, you saw nothing but warmth and understanding reflected back at you, and you felt a sudden surge of gratitude for his unwavering support and compassion.
With a nod, you stepped aside to let Jay into your apartment, the weight of unspoken words hanging heavy in the air between you. As he took a seat beside you on the couch, you felt a sense of relief wash over you at the prospect of finally opening up to someone who truly cared.
For a long moment, the two of you sat in silence, the only sound the soft hum of the air conditioning and the distant rumble of traffic outside. And then, at last, Jay spoke, his voice gentle and reassuring.
"yn, I've noticed that you've been… distant lately," he began, his eyes searching yours with an intensity that made your heart skip a beat. "And I just wanted to check in and see how you're doing. Is everything okay?"
You swallowed hard, the lump in your throat threatening to choke off your words. But before you could reply, Jay reached out to gently grasp your hand in his, his touch a comforting anchor in the storm of emotions that raged within you.
"You don't have to pretend with me, yn," Jay said softly, his voice filled with quiet understanding. "Whatever you're going through, whatever you're feeling… I'm here for you. You don't have to face it alone."
And in that moment, as you looked into Jay's eyes and saw the depth of his sincerity and compassion, you knew that you had found someone worth opening up to, someone who would stand by your side through thick and thin, no matter what challenges lay ahead.
With a grateful smile, you squeezed Jay's hand gently, feeling a sense of relief wash over you at the prospect of finally sharing your burdens with someone who truly cared. And as you began to open up to Jay, pouring out your fears and insecurities with a vulnerability you had never shown anyone before, you felt a weight lift from your shoulders, replaced by a newfound sense of hope and optimism for the future.
In the days and weeks that followed, you found solace in the unwavering support and understanding of Jay, who stood by your side through every twist and turn of your journey. With his encouragement and guidance, you began to confront the demons of your past, slowly but surely breaking free from the chains that had bound you for so long.
Together, you navigated the highs and lows of life, sharing laughter and tears, triumphs and setbacks, as you embarked on a journey of self-discovery and healing. With Jay's love and support, you found the strength to confront your fears and insecurities head-on, embracing the challenges that lay before you with courage and resilience.
As your relationship with Jay blossomed and deepened, you found yourself constantly amazed by his thoughtfulness and consideration. Jay seemed to possess an innate understanding of your needs and boundaries, effortlessly navigating the intricacies of your heart with a sensitivity and empathy that left you feeling cherished and valued.
One evening, as you curled up on the couch together, lost in the pages of a book, Jay reached out to gently brush a stray lock of hair from your face, his touch light and tender against your skin. You looked up to find him gazing at you with an expression of quiet adoration, his eyes filled with a warmth that made your heart flutter with affection.
Without a word, Jay leaned in to press a gentle kiss to your forehead, his lips lingering against your skin in a silent promise of love and devotion. And in that moment, as you felt the weight of his affection wash over you like a soothing balm, you knew with a certainty that this was where you belonged, in the arms of a man who loved you unconditionally, flaws and all.
In the days and weeks that followed, Jay continued to show his affection in the small but meaningful ways that spoke volumes of his love for you. Whether it was leaving notes of encouragement tucked into your lunch bag, surprising you with your favorite meal after a long day, or simply wrapping you in a warm embrace when you needed it most, Jay's gestures never failed to brighten your day and fill your heart with joy.
But what touched you most deeply was the way Jay always respected your boundaries and comfort levels, never pushing you to do anything you weren't ready for or comfortable with. Instead, he met you where you were, showering you with love and affection in the ways that felt most natural and comfortable to you.
And as you snuggled close to Jay on the couch, his arms wrapped protectively around you, you couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the man who had come into your life and filled it with so much love and happiness. With Jay by your side, you knew that you were truly blessed, and you vowed to cherish every moment you shared together, knowing that the love you had found was a rare and precious gift that would last a lifetime.
And as the days turned into weeks, and the weeks turned into months, you found yourself growing stronger and more confident with each passing day, no longer defined by the scars of your past but by the boundless possibilities of your future.
In Jay, you found not only a lover but a confidant, a partner who shared your hopes and dreams, fears and insecurities, and who stood by your side through thick and thin. Together, you forged a bond that was stronger than any obstacle, a love that transcended the trials and tribulations of life.
One evening, as you sat together on the balcony, watching the sun dip below the horizon in a blaze of fiery colors, you found yourselves lost in conversation, sharing your deepest thoughts and feelings with a vulnerability and honesty that only strengthened the bond between you.
"I never thought I'd find someone like you, yn," Jay said softly, his voice filled with sincerity. "Someone who truly understands me, who accepts me for who I am, flaws and all."
You turned to look at Jay, a smile playing at the corners of your lips. "I feel the same way, Jay," you replied, reaching out to take his hand in yours. "You've shown me a kind of love and acceptance that I never knew was possible, and for that, I'm eternally grateful."
As you sat together in companionable silence, the soft murmur of the city below providing a soothing backdrop to your conversation, you felt a sense of peace settle over you like a warm blanket. With Jay by your side, you knew that you could weather any storm that came your way, knowing that his love and support would always be there to guide you through.
And as the stars began to twinkle overhead, casting their gentle glow upon you both, you leaned in to press a gentle kiss to Jay's lips, your heart overflowing with love and gratitude for the man who had come into your life and filled it with so much joy and happiness. With Jay by your side, you knew that anything was possible, and you vowed to cherish every moment you shared together, knowing that your love was a bond that would last a lifetime.
And as you looked towards the horizon, your heart filled with gratitude for the unexpected twists and turns that had led you to this moment, you knew that with Jay by your side, the future held endless promise and possibility.
With a smile on your lips and a lightness in your heart, you stepped forward into the unknown, ready to embrace whatever adventures awaited you, knowing that as long as you had Jay by your side, you could weather any storm that came your way.
And so, as the sun set on one chapter of your life and rose on the next, you took Jay's hand in yours, ready to embark on a new journey filled with love, laughter, and endless possibilities.
For in Jay, you had found not only a partner but a soulmate, a kindred spirit who had walked through fire and brimstone to stand by your side, and for that, you would be eternally grateful.
And as you walked hand in hand into the sunset, the echoes of your laughter mingling with the gentle rustle of the wind, you knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, as long as you had each other, you could overcome anything.
And so, with hearts full of hope and love, you stepped forward into the unknown, ready to embrace whatever adventures awaited you, knowing that as long as you had each other, the future held endless promise and possibility.

Oliver Queen was quite certain he was going to die. He had been holding in a laugh for the past ten minutes, which was dangerous under any circumstances, and downright fatal if it was an explosive, loud and hearty laugh, which this one was. Especially considering that no one else seemed to be as tickled as he was, and if he did laugh, he would be laughing at the Batman. The thing was, that Batman had brought his own coffee mug and thermos to the Watchtower (because apparently their coffee wasn't good enough, or something, as batman hadn't exactly offered an explanation) and both had phrases on them that would be amusing belonging to anyone, and were downright hilarious due to the fact that they belonged to Batman. The thermos said “I’m not saying I’m Batman, I’m just saying you’ll never see me and Batman in the same room together” which, sadly, no one else seemed to have even looked twice at, and his mug, which had a large black bat on it, which said “We’re a Batty little family”. Both items were very much not helping Oliver to win his fight with his mirth, when Batman caught his eye. “Oh shit.” he muttered when the Bat began to move towards him. Well, he was bound to die anyway. “Nice mug.” Oliver greeted the second Batman got close. To his surprise, Batmans lips twitched upward. “Thank you. My children got it for me. I’m surprised you're the first to mention it.” Oliver looked at him in surprise. “Oh my freaking gods.” Batman, the Batman, wanted people to comment on his mug. He was proud of it. Oliver finally released his cackle, and Batmans smile grew marginally in delight. “Oh man that is priceless.” Oliver chuckled when he had finally gotten himself under control. “But hey, kids are like that. I mean, mine got me a shirt with two arrows pointing up, with a bow that was sideways beneath it to make a simile face.” Oliver sketched on his own shirt with his finger to display the image. Batman chuckled lightly. “Thats… quite funny.” “Yeah.” Oliver agreed, thinking back with a smile how often he wore it, and Roy’s delight every time. “My kids,” Batman added, drawing Oliver out of his thoughts. “Got me a tie that says, uh, “Worlds Best Dad In Gotham. Which… o-k i guess..” Oliver stared at him agape before absolutely losing it at the tone with which Batman had quoted his tie. “That is… brilliant.” Oliver wheezed, wiping a tear from his eye. “Wow. Wow wow wow wow wow.” Oliver smiled with relish. “I love that.” Batman smiled back. “I do too.” “Uh, green arrow? Whats so funny?” Green Lantern called over. “Oh nothing, nothing.” Oliver called back. “Just some uh.. Dad jokes.” Hal made a noise of confusion, but Batman chuckled lightly. “Dad jokes?” Green Lantern asked, utterly befuddled. Batman and Green Arrow grinned at each other.
Oliver Queen was quite certain he was going to die. He had a meeting in Gotham today, which was always long and boring, especially since he usually only dealt with the lower members of Wayne Enterprises. Not that he had anything against status, not really, it was only that they were always such a drag, and it was clear they wanted a higher lifestyle. But, to his surprise, when Oliver walked into the meeting room, the CEO of WE was actually present, sitting at the head of the table in deep discussion with a man Oliver vaguely remembered was named something Fox. Lucy? “Ah, Ollie, so good of you to meet with us!” Boomed a voice and Oliver turned in surprise to see Bruce Wayne. “Bruce? Hey man! I didn't know you’d be here!” Oliver grinned in surprised delight, offering the other man a quick hug. Bruce shrugged, sipping some coffee. “I’m just here as a chauffeur. I’m taking Timmy out after this, but I’ll be a part of the meeting if you want some decent conversation.” He winked and Oliver laughed. “Not that my son isn't a good conversationalist.” He added. Oliver waved a hand, moving to his seat and offering the kid a quick smile. Tim glanced over, offering a wave before returning to his heated debate. “Naw I know he is. Wasn't expecting you guys to be here. Glad you are though.” Oliver sighed in relief. Bruce hummed in acknowledgement, taking a seat next to him. “Well I’m glad to see you too Ollie, theres, actually something I want to tell you.” At that, his son finally looked over for more than a second, something gleaming in his eyes. “Oh?” Oliver asked intrigued, leaning forward. That was when he saw it. Tucked just barely beneath the lapel of Bruces suit jacket…. A tie. A tie that said “Worlds Best Dad in Gotham. Which… O-k I guess..” Oliver sat back like electrocuted. Bruce and Tim watched him carefully, and Fox gave a very good impression of looking out the window. “You- uh- you're.” Oliver cleared his throat and Bruce leaned in intently. “Yes?” “Your tie.” Oliver blurted. “Its… nice. My friend has one too.” Bruce raised an eyebrow. “Does he?” He lifted his mug, which had a large black bat on it, and sipped. Oliver swallowed. “W-why me? Why now?” Bruce shrugged, glancing over at his son who was now also doing a very good job of admiring the ceiling tiles. “Because I trust you. And because I need a good friend.” Oliver smiled weakly. “Well, you already had that in Brucie.” Bruce smiled softly. “I know. But friendship requires trust. And Batman needs all the friends he can get.” Oliver chuckle lightly. “So… Dad jokes was the way to go huh?” Bruce smiled, pleased, leaning back. “Yep. Dad jokes.” Bruce Wayne and Oliver Queen grinned at each other.

You were such a stubborn yet amusing expendable to both see and watch, how did he end up this way? how did he end up just...falling for YOU of all people? of everyone he could have fallen for he fell for you. you.
Sebastian was this close to asking any sort of god out there why he had to be hit with that stupid cupid's arrow and you just had to be there, oh how convenient.
Sebastian loved someone else before, long ago of course, but it was still love either way. He lost that person by now anyways so why now of all times? why now when he's lost his humanity? his basic mentality to be vulnerable around someone who was literally weaker than he was due to his mutations?
everything down here sucked and here you are. making it less... sorta sh💩tty for him somehow? I mean, you sure can be annoying and you can be a little childish but isn't anyone as petty as a child was at some point? oh how Sebastian tried so hard to try to make sense of you, make sense of your chaotic antics, just make sense of why he liked you in any way possible.
Was it because you like to banter with him, giving some sass back which surprises yet gets a chuckle out of him? or was it that you actually stood up for him, lightly scolding your friends that flashing his poor eyes with the flash beacon was an ass thing to do to Sebastian considering his DNA or whichever else?
No. it couldn't be!
could it be your eyes? those watercoloured eyes that reminded him of so many things he's seen back home on the surface? whether it be the waters of the ocean, the soils of the earth, or the green of the trees? the grey of those clouds?
No. it must be your hair! maybe your personality?
GAH! why was he thinking so hard about this!? why must an expendable like you be such a puzzle in his mind to solve!?
he refuses such a thing to happen, falling in love with you, yet he has so already.
'I would rather run.' he would think to himself as he awaited in his make shift shop, his fins twitching here and there. he can be rather patient for a seemingly impatient man...
his mind kept going up to you, your smile haunts him. he scowled at himself for thinking of you. 'I would rather fly if I could.' he thought.
damn you, why must you be adorable and make him laugh!? 'If I let them come into my heart I-...' his train of thoughts trail off to a dead end. what exactly was he gonna do if he did succumb to this thing called love? with you?
....it's gonna be a slow day at the shop today, not that surprising, but annoying to Sebastian either way and he had absolutely nothing to do but wait and stare into whatever he bores his eyes into.
hm, perhaps taking a nap won't hurt besides he's been tired as of late. so he coiled himself over and rested his head underneath his tail and just simply turned off the lure's light.
he succumbs to sleep
.
.
.
his nightmare was but mere flashed visions, memorialized pictures he sees.
there you were, your body mangled and a mess.
Sebastian was used to this, he has seen multiple dead bodies; parts of them bitten off, some with their head popped and their brain just splattered the walls, and a few missing their insides here and there.
but you? you were beyond unrecognizable.
where was your face? where is your left arm? who or which took bits of your skin off because he for sure knows none of the creatures can do that, not even wall dwellers-
so why
why were you like this?
what happened, did he do this? did urbanshade do this?
and dear god please tell him why he can feel his eyes stinging. someone tell him why his chest is aching and why he wants to scream.
please, someone please tell him.

--Sebastian awoke in a cold sweat, he gasped and his eyes snapped open wide. he scrambled upwards just to process where he was. Once he realized he fell asleep faster than he thought.
He sighed in relief, thank the stars that wasn't real. otherwise....-
....oh he's deeper in love than he thought.

Here it is! The final design for the @fairyloot edition of the OUABH trilogy! These are the reverse dust jacket and hard case foil designs for the FL A Curse for True Love by @stephanie_garber , and what a finale it is! Anissa (FL) and Stephanie requested a green, gold and pink scheme for this one and the entire set of jackets have such a great color scheme together as a result! As I did with the TBONA jacket, I utilized fairylights to illuminate the lanterns. There's just no replicating that warm, fuzzy glow in papercraft, and it adds a fantastic radiance to the piece. (Also, if you told me 6 years ago I'd be making a tasteful strip-tease of one of my favourite characters in papercraft, I would have choked on my drink.) Meanwhile, we had an absolute blast with the hard case foil design! Stephanie's direction with the changing titles (referencing the changing stories in the Magnificent North) was definitely on display here! Evangeline is on both sides, but the front references Apollo while the back references Jacks! TBONA/ACFTL SPOILERS BELOW: // To emphasize these changes, Evangeline stands under a shower of stars in a too-good-to-be-true dream-like state. On the back, she stands under a shower of arrows, tears streaming, cause chasing true love can sometimes hurt! As if this wasn't a great concept already, but execution of the reveal? If you'll recall, a copy of the FL edition was accidentally shipped with standard editions a scant few weeks before the ACFTL release. A person bought it and posted a few spoilers, including both sides of the foil design. Except some people were only sharing the Apollo side (and rightly raging at the injustice of such a title!), and a few others sharing the Jacks side. The titles kept changing, no one knew the truth and everything was chaos, just like in the Magnificent North! It was great. 🤣🤭 // END SPOILERS Super fun time with both of these! And bittersweet now that the trilogy is ended! Thank you again to @fairyloot, Anissa and Stephanie for the opportunity to work on these! And to have the pieces stand by the GORGEOUS endpaper artworks by @aleikats for each book, these editions are truly special!

Tumblr media
Everything happened so quickly. One minute, you were roaming the forest with Lo’ak, Kiri, Tuk, and Spider, and the next, you were being suffocated in the arms of an avatar. When you woke up, you were in a room you didn’t recognize, the white walls and white lights blinding you. You tried to get up, but realized you were bounded to a metal chair, with green panels surrounding you. “You’re awake.” You heard, the female voice echoing throughout the room.
You looked around as you eyes adjusted to the lighting, and was able to now see the Sky People surrounding you, all in lab coats or military clothing. As you had started to recall the events, you grit your teeth, trying to force yourself out of the metal binds. You hissed at them, baring your teeth and showing zero compliance. “Hey, hey now.” Quatrich said, walking over to you. Your free tail whipped towards him and smacked him, and he stepped back.
“Don’t make this hard, girlie. It’s either you tell us where Jake Sully is, and take the easy way, or you don’t, and you die.” He said menacingly, but you didn’t waver, hissing at him once more. For Neteyam, you would die in this chair, and so would your secrets.
Neteyam felt the same about you. Though, he was able to save his siblings, he couldn’t help but notice that Spider and you were gone. He grabbed Lo’ak by the shoulders. “Where’s my mate, Lo’ak?” He asked desperately, and Lo’ak ears pressed flat against his head. “They took her.” Kiri answered for him, her voice cracking as she said so. She looked at her dad with tear filled eyes. “Spider, too. They took them!” She weeped, and Neteyam could hear his heart breaking in his ears.
His breaths became patterned, his tail swinging wildly, ears flickering to show that he was currently in a spin of emotions. He was alarmed and confused, and scared. Just a few days ago, you had become his mate officially, and yet, here you were, out of reach and in the hands of danger. Neytiri hugged her son tightly, reassuring him. “She is the next Tsahik, she is closer to Eywa than any of us. She will be protected.” She tried to comfort him, but all Neteyam could think about was you.
The Sullys had moved to Awa’atlu, and Neteyam didn’t know what to do. He was opposed to leaving the forest, at first; of leaving you, but he had no choice. He didn’t know if you were dead or alive, or if he would ever see you again. He so desperately missed your touch, and the way you would look at him with nothing but love, or how you would mumble his name and pronounce each syllable properly.
Ne-te-yam.
Calmly and with that soft voice of yours. He missed you.
You had been on the ship with the Sky People, locked in a room and only taken out for interrogation because you opposed to complying at all. Spider, as you heard was kidnapped with you, was complying with them. You didn’t know the full story because you were in a cell the whole time, but you couldn’t help but feel disappointed of him.
Weeks had passed, and you didn’t know if it was because you were starving, but the air had started to smell like saltwater. You face was covered in dried blood from constant nosebleeds during interrogation. The machine they used on you worked very slowly because you were Na’vi, and had a different brain structure — you were too advanced for the machine to figure you out. You had bruises from low iron deficiency, you would constantly throw up from the little food they fed you, and you could barely stand from how drained you were, both mentally and physically.
You begged them to let you go, that they were just wasting their time and that Spider would help them anyways — but they didn’t. You just wanted to be back in Neteyam’s safe arms, but you knew that the only ticket out of this hellhole was by leaking everything; and you would rather die than do that, so you stayed silent and shoved your selfishness down.
You knew something was happening the second the ship you were in rocked heavily, as if it had run into something. Then, gunfire. You didn’t know wether to feel relieved or horrified. Were you being attacked or rescued? Staying silent as you listened to the muffled screams and gunfire, being swayed violently, and then, metal cracking apart.
You heart dropped to the bottom of your stomach as you realized that the ship was sinking. Every nerve in your body was panicking as you slammed your shoulder against the heavy metal door, banging on it and begging somebody to open. “Please! Somebody!” Your heart only started pounding harder when the tiny vent on the floor started flooding with water, rising quickly.
Neteyam jumped out of the sea, his eyes locked on Lo’ak, Tuk, and Tsireya, who were tied up on the ship. “Neteyam!” Tuk called, relieved to see her brother. “Ma Neteyam,” Tsireya called as he started cutting Tuk’s binds, “The dreamwalkers were talking about a Na’vi girl, saying she is locked downstairs.” Neteyam’s ears pressed flat against his head as he immediately recognized who she was talking about. “Thank you. Get Tuk out of here.” He ordered.
“Bro, hurry up!” Lo’ak ushered. “You go get Spider.” He told his little brother as he cut his binds, before rushing towards the stairs. “Bro! Where’re you going?” Lo’ak yelled. “To get her!” His heart was pounding in his ears, and every nerve was spiraling through his body. Knowing that you were there, alive, made his throat tighten. He missed you, and all these months, knowing that you were stuck in that small room made him want to beat himself up.
He ran through the halls, water at ankle level as the red lights from the alarms nearly blinded him. Water splashed violently as he ran from door to door, opening each one but not being able to find you. He entered an open space, seeing multiple electrical instruments and a chair with metal binds, and his heart dropped when he saw dried blood on it. He entered a different hallway, and his ears perched when he heard faint echoed bangs of a metal door.
His breaths were heavy as he arrived at the door, seeing that there was no handle and only an electrical panel that seemed to be a lock for the door. He grabbed his bow with both hands, before smashing the end of it on the electrical panel, continuously bashing it until it popped and sizzled, eventually falling off. The door cracked open, a body falling on the floor as if it had been leaning against it. His pupils dilated as he looked at you for the first time in forever.
You looked up at him, your lips parting open as you gasped. “Ma Neteyam.” You whispered.
Ne-te-yam.
It was really you. He fell on his knees as he took no time embracing you, a hand cupping the back of your head as he closed his eyes, breathing heavily as he felt you fit into his body like the puzzle piece that had been missing. You barely had the strength to hug him back, body limp against him as you leaned into him. He pulled away, both hands cupping your face as he quickly scanned you.
His eyebrows furrowed after seeing the dried blood covering your face, along with the tiny cuts and bruises. “What have they done to you, my love?” He mumbled, voice wavering. “Neteyam.” You could only say, tears welling your eyes. You only now realized how much you had longed to see him. “Are you alright? What- What did they do?” He frantically asked, searching your body. He was taken aback when you suddenly hugged him once more.
“I missed you, Neteyam.” You ignored his questions, and he dismissed his own, burying his face into your shoulder. “I missed you more. Don’t ever leave my side.” He whispered.

[inspired roughly by this post. My brain snails started going nuts so I thought it'd be easier to post this separately :)]
It was a lovely day in Gotham. Well, as lovely as it could be. The sun was up, peeking through the overhead cloud cover and making the buildings gleam in the rare sunlight. The air was fresher than usual, and faucets ran clear of strange and unusual toxins.
Somewhere in the Upper East Side, in a little neighborhood tucked away from the rest of the city, marched around the new boss of the area. She was a young girl, just barely in high school. But despite it being the middle of a work day, she wandered around her chosen streets, content to do whatever she wanted. Above her, a pair of siblings watched on and discussed the unique situation.
"So let me get this straight: that fourteen-year-old goth girl is a crime boss?"
Mia smiled at Leon, her older brother, and his dumbfounded expression as they rested on her balcony. "She's fifteen, actually. Her birthday just passed. We all got together and threw a block party for her!"
"You know how insane that sounds, right?" Leon turned to her, a bit miffed that she dared to say those words to his face. "She's a kid. Why do you all listen to her?"
Mia shrugged and sipped her beer. "She does good work. Holds her own pretty well, and the kid has connections. Good ones, too. That can be the difference between life and death in Gotham."
Leon rubbed his forehead in frustration. "I just don't get it. How did she end up in this line of work? Do child labor laws even apply here?? Why aren't the Bats doing anything?"
"Don't think about it too much, dipshit." Mia crushed her now-empty beer can in her hand and tucked it into a paper garbage bag hanging off of a hook on the balcony rail. A familiar set of green arrows was printed on the side.
"And now you're recycling?!" Leon realized. "When did you start doing that, Mia??"
The woman shrugged and got up, stretching. "Probably around the time Brambles absolutely reamed out Mrs. Zalinski for littering at the park."
"Wait, who's Brambles?" Leon scrambled upright and followed his sister inside.
Mia laughed. "Brambles is our fifteen-year-old crime boss!"
...
"I can't believe you got a cool name right off the bat," Danny grumbled, flopping onto Sam's bed face-first. Sam smirked and shoved him off with her foot. Danny just squawked and let himself ragdoll to the ground.
"It's your fault for not having a better gimmick." She said to his prone body. "Besides, it could've been worse."
"I think Inviso-Bill is the worst possible nickname for anyone." Danny groaned. "But you got something cool immediately. Who even thought up 'Brambles'? That's such a unique name!"
"Well the kids call you Grim; that's pretty cool."
Danny flopped over, twisting himself much farther than any human was supposed to just so he could glare at her face. "They only call me that cause one of the is obsessed with Harry Potter." He grumbled, pouting.
Sam just rolled her eyes and went back to sorting through piles of papers scattered all across her duvet. Since moving to Gotham several months ago, Sam had taken it upon herself to turn the experience into something useful rather than just moping all the time, as she originally wanted to. That 'something useful' had landed her as the newest crime boss in Gotham, with about a third of the Upper East Side as her current territory.
So many problems had popped up in the last year, and the group had decided that taking it on alone would never work. The GIW had been trying to close Amity's borders, Danny's parents had a scientific breakthrough, tensions in the Realms were high, etc. There was a lot on their plate! Sam's solution was to create a foothold in Gotham City. She would lay the foundations for Jazz to work in Arkham and forge a safer environment for the residents of Amity Park to sneak off to if the GIW went too far. She was essentially weaving a cushion for everyone to fall back on.
Danny, using the power of duplication, was splitting his focus between foiling his parent's plans and resolving issues with his rouges to create a united front. He was the main distraction, and Sam's own heavy hitter when she needed help establishing dominance.
Tucker planned to gather intel with the help of Technus and Jazz. They were trying to gather as much evidence as possible so they'd be in the clear when the whistle blew. The GIW would crash and burn, legally speaking. They were the bugs of the operation, spreading themselves thin and hoarding information like it was candy.
Dani was their wild card, their jester. She was keeping the JLD's attention focused solely on her and all the supernatural hijinks she was stirring up. When the time was right, she'd point them in the direction needed and let them loose. After winding them up so much, the hope was that the Justice League Dark would descend upon the GIW like hellfire.
But those were their future plans. Right now, Sam was in possession of specific files from Arkham Asylum and the GCPD. She was looking for anything to give her an edge in the upcoming meeting with a few other crime bosses. Some annual thing they host to renew Goonion contracts, see who's still alive, and examine how much the territory lines have changed. Stuff like that. Red Hood was supposed to be there, and she knew she needed an ironclad defense against him and his nosy colony of Bats.
Danny untwisted himself all of a sudden, making a weird face. "Sorry, got to go." He apologized. "Vlad just showed up to my house."
Sam waved him off. "Go, I'll be fine for today. Just be on time for the meeting on Friday. And I want you, not a double."
"You got it!" Danny did finger guns at her and promptly melted into a pile of green goo. Right on her bedroom floor!
Sam sighed and got up to throw a towel over the puddle. The ectoplasm would evaporate eventually, returning to the original Danny little by little. But for now, this would keep anyone from asking about it until it was all gone.
Sometimes she really hated living in student dorms. People always felt the need to burst into her room for no reason.
Who even made dorm rooms for high schoolers in the first place??
...
Jason couldn't help but stare at the new recruit.
Well, 'new recruit' wasn't exactly accurate. 'Potential to be the most headache-inducing supervillain' was more like it. Standing at a solid 5'10" with platform boots, Brambles, the newest crime lord who had taken over half of the Upper East Side in under four months, was almost tall enough to look him in the eye straight on. Which she tried to do anyways, tilting her chin up oh-so-slightly (in that stupid way aristocrats do when they want to look down at you) and glaring at him with open hostility.
Brambles was young, way too young to be in this line of business. At the start of the annual underground crime meeting (yes, they couldn't come up with a better name), she had announced that she was fifteen, went by she/her, and would snap the dick off of anyone who looked at her funny. Most everyone laughed at her, thinking it was an empty threat. Brambles proved it wasn't by sucker-punching a younger lieutenant who tried to get handsy with her five minutes into the meeting.
When the lieutenant's boss protested and threatened a gang war, Brambles had snapped her fingers and summoned what could only be a fucking pit demon from the depths of hell to threaten the man back. The creature looked like a teenager, just like Brambles, at first. But it was...off. The longer you looked, the worse it got.
It wore a draping black cloak that covered most of its body, with the ends turning to mist when it reached the floor. It had a pale, young face and white hair. Its eyes glowed just like Brambles', except they were a toxic green that made Jason's heart skip a beat in fear. The creature was snarling, with a fucking muzzle on it to keep its sharp teeth away from wandering fingers.
With a nod from Brambles, the creature bounded forward and knocked the guy to the floor, its arm elbow-deep into the guy's chest. The dude looked terrified, and a little sick "Would you rather lose a lieutenant or your life?" She had snarled, sounding almost a bit demonic herself. The other boss had backed down without another word, writing off his subordinate as dead and gone.
Instead of killing the guy, however, Brambles simply banished her little guard dog to a corner of the warehouse to play with its new toy in peace.
"Is she allowed to do that?" Someone whispered.
"They weren't unionized, so the Goonion won't say anything." Another answered.
It was the most awkward meeting in the history of the criminal underworld. No one even died since they were all focused on the newcomer.
Jason could feel a headache forming as the meeting came to an end. Brambles was still sitting in her chair. The creature had grown bored of its toy and was leaning against her, sprawled out lazily and barely flicking an ear at the onlookers in acknowledgment. A few people were idling around her, mostly women, trying to talk some big game and get on the kid's good side. Brambles was humoring them, taking tight control of the conversation when they got too prying.
Jason sighed. He knew he'd have to go over and have a talk with the kid, even if it was just for Bruce's files. He hauled himself upwards and stalked over. "Pardon me, ladies and gents, but I'm going to borrow the kiddo here for a moment."
The creature hissed at him, tensed at his approach. Brambles kept a tight grip on the back of its muzzle, keeping it grounded. The other criminals scattered like flies. They were the only two (three?) left in the warehouse within minutes.
Bramble rose to glare at him. "What." She spat. "If you're here to convince me not to get involved with anything, I will set Grim on your ass after lighting it on fire."
The creature, Grim, growled in agreement. The sound echoed strangely like he was hearing it from underwater.
"Relax, I'm not here to do any of that." Jason raised his hands in surrender, immediately abandoning that possible line of thought. "I'm just here to talk business. You're young, and while you don't want to admit it, inexperienced."
"Stop the fancy words, Red Hood." Brambles' eyes glowed again, and she released her hold on Grim's muzzle. "If you want to make a deal, say it to my face. If you're here to dig for information, either ask me or hit the road. I prefer honesty over flower talk, so tell me what you want before I take over your area, too."
Jason bristled. His vision was tinted green as he snapped, "What the fuck is your problem, kid?! I just wanted to make sure you were safe and not being forced to do this. I was even going to offer my support and protection if it was too much! I know you aren't going to stop, but that doesn't mean I want a kid to die just because they got into something they shouldn't and they think their fancy guard dog will always be there to protect them!"
Brambles' eyes stopped glowing, and her stare softened a bit. Grim went deadly still, just floating there, staring at Jason. His heart beat like crazy in his chest. What was he saying? It was all true, but he could've been nicer about it. Dick would've found a way to be nicer.
-krrrk- "Ibis, reporting in. I think you can trust him, guys. Even if he's a Bat, his connections and experience would be useful in our plans. Ibis out." -krrrk-
Jason flinched from the sudden noise, looking around to find the source. It sounded like it had come from everywhere, even inside his own helmet. Brambles immediately switched out her hostile look for an annoyed one, tapping an earpiece he hadn't noticed before.
"Ibis, you really have to stop opening up our comm lines to the public." She snapped, but there was no real heat to it. "And I thought I told you to stop eavesdropping!"
-krrrk- "Sorry, can't help it. I'm everywhere now! You shouldn't have given me this power." -krrrk-
Grim hissed.
-krrrk- "Don't hiss at me, young man! You were the one who suggested this!" -krrrk-
"I'm sorry, time out!" Jason made a T with his hands. The green from his vision had completely disappeared now. "What the FUCK is going on now?"
Brambles sighed, rubbing her temples. "You know what? Fine. We'll trust you. My name is Sam. Nice to meet you, Jason Todd."
Jason stepped back, immediately reaching for his gun. Grim darted forward and promptly flew through him, stealing all his weapons in one go. "I'm Danny!" Grim-Danny?-chirped in a human voice, giving him a shit-eating smile. "Sorry for the act, Mr. Hood. And sorry about the name drop, I'm the one that told them."
-krrrk- "I'm Tucker! There are more of us, but they're busy. I have literally so many questions for you, Mr. Hood." -krrrk-
"Now that introductions are over-Danny don't eat his smoke bombs, you're not gonna look like Dorathea-we'd like your help."
Jason squinted at them. "You understand this is all suspicious as fuck, right? And how did a pit demon find out who I am?"
-krrrk- "Yeah, we know. But lives are on the line here, and I think you'd really be a help!" -krrrk-
Brambles-Sam-sighed and pulled out a flash drive. "I was going to use this as leverage, but I guess it'll have to be useful in other ways." She tossed it to Jason, who numbly caught it. "Look over it if you want. If you don't, then just burn it. Do not try to plug it into the Batcomputer. Don't try to send it to the Batcomputer, either. A virus will target that specific IP address as soon as it makes contact. Any other computer is fine."
"Look it over, and we can go from there," Danny added, spinning in midair while chomping on one of Jason's knives. (His good one, too!) "And I'm not a pit demon, but I am dead. That's how I knew about you. Whatever brought you back to life gave the Realms a real headache for a while. It wasn't hard to look you up in the records."
"This is so much information. Lives are on the line? And two, three kids are dealing with it? By becoming crime bosses?"
-krrrk- "Technically, Sam's the only crime boss here. And that was kind of an accident. She was supposed to create a safe foothold in Gotham in case we needed to evacuate our town. But we all got cool nicknames out of it! And you're the only adult we've told this stuff to!" -krrrk-
"I'm what?"
"The only adult." Sam's unwavering gaze seemed to pierce his soul. "There are quite literally no other adults that can help, Red Hood. None that we trust, not really. Any adult intervention needs to be planned carefully so it doesn't backfire on us. We're trusting you here, Jason. Not only are you like us, which technically puts you in danger too, but you have power and connections to support a whole town of people the government wants to eradicate."
Jason looked at the little green flash drive in his hand. He didn't want to ask. "And this...?"
"A fruit basket," Sam said simply. "Originally, it was supposed to be blackmail. But instead, this is a present to show our goodwill and faith. To show you our skills. That drive contains information on other gangs, upcoming rogue attacks, chemical breakdowns of Joker Venom and Fear Gas, unfinished antidote formulas, etc. Tucker and his team scoured the underbelly of Gotham and gathered dirt on every single prominent figurehead. Including Bruce Wayne, should you choose to use it."
"I would never-"
"But you've thought about it." Danny cut in and scratched his neck. Jason's hands shook. "It's not a bad thing. It's just the nature of the dead. Wanting to right the wrongs left over from their time with the living. Even if you walk and breathe now, that doesn't mean desire disappears."
"The point is, we need help. Even if I'm loathe to admit it." Sam rolled her eyes, and suddenly, Jason didn't see a potential supervillain in the making. He saw a teenager trying her best, shouldering the responsibility of hundreds of people, both in Gotham and her hometown. Danny looked the same, no matter how other-worldly he was. What battles were they facing? Why weren't there any adults to turn to? What kind of lives were they leading if they immediately trusted a known crime lord with their lives upon the first meeting?
"I'll think about it." Jason finally said. Danny trilled in excitement, and some tension bled out of Sam's shoulders. "If the situation is bad enough, however, I'm calling in someone else for help."
Danny shrugged. "As long as it ain't Batman! I don't think he'll appreciate us smuggling a town of liminals into his city."
Sam poked Danny's shoulder, prompting him to look at her. "Let's go, before you break his brain with more info-dumping. Bye Red Hood!"
"Uh, yeah. Goodbye!" Jason stuttered. He watched the two kids walk towards the exit door, before shimmering out of sight before they even touched the handle.
What the fuck.

Operation: Stay Away Cupid
Tumblr media
Obey Me Brothers and Datables x reader
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
With Valentines Day Approaching in the Devildom, Solomon decides to play a little prank on others, with an oblivious you in the middle of it.
a/n: I wanted to do a little background before posting the little blurbs.
Introduction:
Solomon knows that all eyes are on him right now;
"What is it, Solomon?" Diavolo asks, the friendly smile on his face making him feel almost bad enough to not go through with this little prank of his.
Using the poker face it had taken him, hundreds of years to perfect, he glances slowly around the room and takes a deep breath for suspense. "Valentine's day is fast approaching, so I need to warn you all about the danger Mc is in." At the mention of you being in any sort of danger, everyone sits up a bit straighter and stares at the Sorcerer intently.
"Oi, what do you mean MC is in danger?" Mammon yells, springing from his seat.
"Sit down, Mammon," his elder brother practically growls, yanking him into his seat by the hem of his jacket.
The crowd is silent and waiting expectantly for Solomon to continue.
He grabs the back end of a podium tightly; if his little prank of his is to work, he needs to make sure that no one in this room has ever heard of the little tale he has spun.
"In the human world, there is a creature that appears on Valentine's Day. Its sole purpose is to go around and shoot people with magic arrows to make them fall in love. But this creature is mischievous and likes to make people fall in love with the wrong sort of people."
"What exactly do you mean by the wrong sort of people?" the Demon Lord asks.
Solomon lets his features fall as he meets the Prince's eye. "Someone who would mistreat them, Cupid thinks it's funny to see how humans come crawling back to someone who isn't worthy of their love.
Barbados furrows his brow, "A Cupid? I don't think I have ever seen one before."
Ignoring the butler's statement, he continues his lesson. "They also do not like it when someone has too many suitors to choose from." He adds, giving the group a once-over. With a wave of his hand, stacks of research materials magically appear in the laps of his audience of growingly angry angels and demons, who stare at the piles of cheesy Valentine's Day cards and short stories.
Fire blazes in Satan's green eyes as he speaks, "And that would be us, wouldn't it? "
'This little prank is going well.' Solomon thinks to himself as everyone is beginning to understand why their sweet human is being targeted.
"It would," he says solemnly, shaking his head. "Sometimes Cupid can get a bit jealous; I believe the reason why they are being targeted is that the creature wants Mc to be forced to fall in love with it instead."
"That kind of magic exists?" Simeon mumbles, staring at the image of the white-winged baby intently. "I never thought something that looks as innocent as this could be capable of such unthinkable deeds."
"So, if Mc gets hit with one of these Arrows, they won't love me anymore?" Asmodeus asks, his peach-colored eyes turning glassy at the thought.
"Should we tell them?" Beel asks softly; the snack he has been munching on now sits discarded next to him.
Before the Sorcerer can even open his mouth to object, he is cut off by Lucifer. "Absolutely not; if we tell them, they could get scared. Let's focus on keeping this beast away from them."
"Well, what are we supposed to do about this, huh?" Mammon says, staring at the other human exactly.
"Obviously, we are going to protect them," Levi mumbles finally.
The Sorcerer snaps his fingers, "That. Is exactly what we are going to do. So if any of us are out with them later, they'll have to protect them.
"Won't we be affected if we get hit by the arrows?" The youngest brother asks, clutching his large pillow with a vice-like grip.
Being prepared for this question, the Sorcerer shakes his head. "No, none of us are human enough to be affected by the magic."
He gives them each a conversation heart from the box he picked up at a Human world grocery store. "Take this; It will help you see through its magic and spot the signs that it's near; I wrote down a few other things to look out for," Solomon says, eating one of the candied hearts as everyone else does the same.
"So what now?" Mammon asks, swallowing the candy whole.
Solomon grins and clasps his hands together. "Now that that's settled let Operation Stay Away Cupid Commence."
~ How will everyone handle protecting you from Cupid's Nonexistent Arrows? Parts 2-4 to come!

Batman: Universe (2020) written by Bendis and illustrated by Nick Derington was one of the most charming and lovely batman comic i have read in a really long time. it's a silly time travel story!!! and only six issues long!
SPOILERS AHEAD, here are some out of context panels that just really amused me;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i really enjoyed how casual batman is with the people in gotham. like yeah, bruce regularly spooks residents when he grapples up the side of their building, and stops for a quick chat. the young new cops aren't exactly sure how to handle batman while others are too used to him to care anymore.
then the whole interaction with green arrow (issue 2) was SO fun! i am so fond of them and they're rarely in enjoyable comics together anymore. i particularly loved this little detail:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
at first bruce calls him oliver, but as the situation becomes increasingly more dangerous, he switches to calling him ollie! i am very normal about this.
Tumblr media
THE BATLANTERN MOMENT. this whole part of the story (issue 3 & 4) was just, very sweet. it was a perfect balance of them being prickly to each other, while also sticking close and working really well.
Tumblr media
this part of the story also features cowboy bruce and hal (sort of)!
...and then bruce was really worried about hal when he lost control and vanished from the past (he's fine), so much so that later in the story when he's dying, he mentions that he hopes green lantern is okay (in the present, hal leaves bruce a voice message to say he is okay, and hopes bruce is safe too).
oh right yeah so bruce dies (for like, a page, thank you confusing time travel mechanics) and THIS IS WHAT HE SAYS TO ALFRED:
Tumblr media
I AM SORRY YOU CAN'T HEAR ME.. TELL YOU.. HOW MUCH I LOVE YOU.. I REALLY DO........ bruce wayne when i get you (issue 4).
Tumblr media
AND THEN!!!! DICK ARRIVES (issue 5)!!!!!! i was hoping we'd get to see damian when bruce returned to the present, or that robin would come along on the time travel shenanigans, but this moment happened and i didn't even mind. it was so lovely. the duo of all time always.
Tumblr media
a lot happens after this moment (issue 6), but these little panels really spoke to me. look at him. sitting criss cross apple sauce in the face of absolute doom. the pastel coloured eternal hell was also very funny to me, as was bruce then literally jumping between different periods of time during the final fight — but i have run out of space to share those. you need to go look at them for yourself.
so idk, READ IT !!!!!!

Have ever thought of reader and noa breaking up?
I have thought about it tbh im an angst girl and it is my favorite thing to write, imagine this and if you guys are really into it? I can make a full fic: Noa and you mating. Not ceremoniously like his Clan would anticipate but secretly, just for the two of you, just to experience it before the entire Clan knew. Afterwards, as you're lightly placing your hand onto his shoulder as he slept, you found yourself in turmoil thinking of what this meant for the future. You're a human, Noa an Ape. He had a planned destiny, as the Eagle Clan leader. He needed to have their customs met fully, he needed a mate that could support him and understand, he needed to eventually produce an heir, maybe more...
Thoughts are running wild in your mind. You give him one last stroke to his shoulder, placing a longing kiss to his cheek before quietly untangling yourself from him and leaving in absolute silence.
Not just the nest, but the entire Clan as a whole. You leave, hoping that Noa will eventually return to normalcy and find what he needed for a fulfilling life, assuming that you were unable to give him any of it.
The absolute flurry he wakes up in when you're not there. Following your scent around the village. There's a horse missing, provisions are missing, you're missing. He flies off the rails and goes on a massive hunt with himself, soona, anaya and any other ape he can grasp at. You're no where to be seen, your scent dropped off by the river, presumably where you had dived in to clean yourself and get rid of any insight of your smell. you dont want to be followed.
** maybe like five years later? **
you were out foraging with your husband and child - a human whom you met shortly after leaving the clan, never certain of trusting him until you were travelling together for a year. you fell in love, having a child soon after making the choice to reproduce. The summer air was enticing to your skin and you tilt your head back to enjoy it a bit before a blood curdling scream hit your ears.
Your child - screaming at the top of their lungs. you were quick to your feet, same with your husband and went to them, partially behind a few berry bushes.
Apes.
Two of them, from the look of it and you grasp at the gun you had managed to salvage two years ago, your husband going for his arrows. he insisted you keep the gun on you as a means of defense, he was more than able to protect with strength and arrows in most cases.
No, there were three Apes. Your hand slowly comes down as they widened at the appearance of a baby against the shoulder of who you presumed to be the female.
grasping your child in a mirror pose, you pulled them behind you and held the gun up offensively, "We're not here to hurt, just foraging for food."
Silence.
It was deafening as the male huffed out rather aggressively and you felt your arm prickle with anticipation as they drew closer to you. defensively, you slid your child over to your husband who was a few feet behind you and swallowed hard.
your eyes opened wide, your mouth went dry. There... there was no way...
"Noa?" The ape tilted their head in a jilting fashion and stared at you with dead-set green eyes. His lips parted as he stared right back at you, the obvious flood of the past coming back to haunt both of you. Your name fell from his lips. You peer at the female behind him and felt a surge of sadness hit you. It was Soona, and who you presumed to be their child.
You were so happy that he found someone and it was one of his closest friends. you had only wished it to be you instead.
and idk i havent gotten that far yet but it might make for an intriguing series lol if you like the premise, i can for sure write it into an actual fic or maybe two. Also considering it for the customary series lol.

Reading green arrow 2001 is like. Extremely pivotal moments for every character. The worst writing you’ve ever seen. Incredibly sweet sincere dinahollie. Okay ollie is a cheater now. Crying over an issue with mia dearden. The stupidest retcons in comics history. Absolutely atrocious characterization. Some of the sweetest found family depicted in dc comics ever. Straight up incest. The most silly ass filler villains of all time. Oliver queen legalizes gay marriage. Overt racism and sexism. Mia dearden being your favorite character ever written. Storylines that would make 80s green arrow writers turn over in their graves. Being filled with warmth and happiness because you love ollie queen so much and there he is that’s him that’s who he is!! And now the bad characterization is back. Strong anti-poverty messages that go nowhere. The issue where roy and connor just hang out and talk about what it means to be brothers. Whitewashing. Ollie actually being a good dad. Why is jason todd here this is not your Story jason go Home. Winick why the fuck would you write that WHY. Chili.

I Knew You Were Trouble
Summary: After a disaster on Earth sends humans to live on colonies on different planets, Feyre Archeron's life has become impossibly difficult. The Federation meant to protect and provide for human refugees has abandoned them on a hostile planet that forbids them from hunting and has segregated them from the rest of the population.
When her older sister starts an accidental fire in an attempt to revitalize the barren land, Feyre comes face to face with one of the infamous, dreaded Hoard Kings. They strike a bargain- her servitude for her sisters life. Now, trapped in his hoard, Feyre has to acclimate to a new life and the demands of the man who took her- and hope she can survive him.
Based on the book Captive of the Horde King.
Read on AO3
Thank you @climbthemountain2020. I wouldn't have gotten this done today (or maybe at all), if you hadn't let me turn writing into a competition.
-
It started with a burning fire.
Feyre wasn’t the first to see it, though she was one of the first to run out, bucket in hand, in an attempt to put the flames out. Elain stood on the edge, tears streaking down her sooty face. Nesta was there, too, paler than usual as she paced back and forth. No one spoke, even as they managed to douse the flames. Smoke curled upward toward the sky, a beacon that would draw any who saw toward it.
And the Drakkari would absolutely see it. Shoving her burned hands into her pocket, Feyre tried to conceal her rage as she nodded for Elain and Nesta to follow her back to the small, dilapidated hut they lived in. The earth was utterly scorched, reeking of burned grass and smoke. Feyre wanted to vomit as they passed, hating the scornful eyes that fell upon them.
“What did you do?” she hissed the moment they were locked inside.
Elain burst into tears, which frustrated Feyre even more. When was she going to get hard? When was this life going to finally sink in for her. They weren’t on Earth anymore—Earth had been destroyed when they’d been little girls, relocated as refugees on the planet Drakkar. Their mother hadn’t survived the journey.
Their father hadn’t survived Drakkar. The planet wasn’t hospitable and the Drakkari imposed harsh rules on the human settlements in an attempt to preserve the delicate ecosystem that existed on the planet. Hunting was not allowed, they couldn’t trade with the local Drakkari villages, and were reliant on whatever they could grow. Truthfully, they were supposed to be cared for by the Federation, but rations had stopped coming years before.
Now they worked the land, but it was barren, stripped of nutrients and mostly useless.
“I was trying—” Elain choked off, wiping her eyes furiously on her sleeves. “I just wanted to fix the soil—”
“It’s not her fault,” Nesta barked out, but Feyre saw how pale her older sister's lips were. They knew what was going to happen. The Drakkari would come looking for answers, and Elain was too soft to face off with the Drakkari horde. “We’re starving. We need to do something.”
“They’re going to kill me,” Elain whispered, tears streaking down her dirty, beautiful face.
“They won’t,” Feyre replied, stomach turning in knots. “I’ll make them understand.”
Easier said than done.
She’d seen a Drakkari horde only once in her life. She’d been fourteen and brand new with a bow, taught to her by a girl named Clare. Clare had been lovely, with hair red as flames and the prettiest pair of green eyes. They’d gone out to the nearby woods and it had been Clare who’d shown Feyre how to string her bow with an arrow, how to aim, and once she’d managed to kill a grounder, how to clean it so it was good for eating.
The horde had come right before the first frost looking for the woman who’d killed a grounder—it had been Feyre they’d been looking for. Clare had been home, caring for her mother and Feyre had been responsible for her family. That was the year her father had died, and they were starving. She still remembered the way they’d come into the village, seated on their massive smoke gray scaled beasts with yellow eyes.
They’d demanded to know who had been hunting grounders and Clare had stepped forward before Feyre could claim responsibility. The massive horde king had slung a powerful leg off the beast, circled around her, before slinging her up over his shoulder to climb back up on the beast.
Feyre still remembered the way Clare had looked at her, eyes wide with fear. I’m sorry, Feyre had mouthed, too cowardly to save the woman from her fate. No one had ever seen Clare again, and they all knew what the horde had intended to do with her. There had been rumors long before Clare had been taken that the Drakkari often took war prizes in the form of females, though not typically human females.
Feyre suspected when the Drakkari came, she’d be used much the same way Clare had been. She was older now and no longer a child. Turning to her sisters, she knew there was no hope they wouldn’t notice, just as she knew that Elain wouldn’t survive whatever torments a Drakkari male inflicted upon her.
Feyre would, though. Swallowing hard, Feyre tried to banish the fear gripping her chest to show her sisters how to prepare meat. Elain could skin it and dry it—she’d always been good in the kitchen—and Nesta could hunt. Someone would show her how, and Feyre’s bow was nice. They could sell anything they didn’t need to barter for food, too, though there was little left to take. Elain still had a string of their mothers pearls and Nesta their parent’s rings, all of which could be melted down or traded to someone more enterprising. Someone hoping to buy passage off Drakkar, anyway.
Her sisters were unusually quiet, doing as Feyre said and watching with big eyes. “Maybe they won’t take you,” Elain had whispered as night began to fall outside. A large, yellow moon illuminated a vibrant, starry sky and Feyre tried to remember if it had looked that way on Earth, too. She remembered so little of their former home—though sometimes at night she woke to nightmares of smoke and screaming.
“There will be punishment,” Feyre heard herself say dully.
“A whipping isn’t terrible,” Elain replied with her usual optimism. As if she’d ever be whipped herself. Feyre didn’t consider that any consolation given how unlikely she was to survive should infection take hold. “I would take care of you.”
Elain with her plants. For years, Elain had been able to make nearly anything grow. She’d gotten her hands on some seeds from a shipment and had planted root vegetables and wheat—enough to keep them mostly fed until the dry season had rolled in this year. There hadn’t been enough rain and the soil was depleted from years of use. Feyre almost couldn’t be angry at her older sister—Elain had tried to add nutrients back into the ground by lighting it, unaware of how the Drakkar soil would react.
What should have been a small, controlled fire became a raging inferno. Perhaps when Feyre was gone, they’d learn Elain’s experiment had paid off. Maybe they’d be fed again and all they’d lost was one more mouth to feed.
It made what she knew was coming almost worth it.
Elain and Nesta fell asleep on the large bed they shared, but Feyre remained sitting in the window, watching the horizon. She saw the warriors, shadows in the distance at first, before they came closer and closer. Feyre wanted to run as far and as fast as she could. The urge tickled beneath her skin, mind begging her to just go.
She couldn’t, though. Feyre had made her mother a promise on that ship, a child of only seven. When she’d been ushered in by her older sister to say goodbye, her mother had looked her in the eyes with more lucidity than Feyre had seen in weeks.
“Protect them, Feyre.”
Feyre couldn’t even pretend she’d meant to say it to Nesta or Elain. Her mother had used her name, had looked at her, and followed her plea with, “please.”
Feyre had sworn, too little to know better. It was what drove her outdoors to hunt, and it was what kept her in her seat even as those warriors came closer and closer. Feyre went for her cloak, hiding a dull dagger against her belt. It was sharp enough, though the edges had been worn down from years of skinning grounders.
If she needed to use it, it would still get the job done, if a little inelegantly.
“Are they here already?” Elain asked, sitting up as she rubbed at tired eyes.
“Soon,” Feyre replied. She wasn’t the only one waiting. Lit lanterns illuminated more than a few huts, and Feyre knew they, like her, were watching the looming threat with terror in their hearts.
If the horde wanted, they could decimate the entire village with no repercussions. The federation didn’t care to check on them, and what was one less village to worry about, besides?
“You will say nothing,” Feyre informed her sisters, certain they wouldn’t anyway. “No one will contradict me.”
“You should lie…” Elain said, biting her lower lip. She couldn’t even get the rest of her sentence out. If Feyre told the truth, they would just take Elain in her place. Feyre only sighed and opened the door, leaving her sisters indoors. The gates were open, rarely closed for any reason, which made it easy for the warrior to come thundering in. Feyre was grateful for the noise that rattled her teeth, silencing her thoughts. Even her racing heart felt as if it settled, though that was just the shaking ground beneath her feet.
No one dared to come out. Feyre saw faces peering through windows, all lined with terror. Good. No one would contradict her, then.
The scaled beasts were even larger than she remembered. Illuminated by the bright moon, Feyre took a step back as they approached. There were seven in total, and much like the beasts, Feyre had forgotten just how big Drakkari men were. They were bare chested, sculpted of hard muscle lined with both fading scars and golden ink that whirled in bold lines. Feyre wondered, absently, what they meant—as far as she knew, no one but the Drakkari themselves knew.
Thin tails flicked behind them as they dismounted, each unsheathing the blades crisscrossed over their back as they surrounded her. Only one, his face shrouded by the same hood Feyre wore to hide her face, remained unarmed. She could see the protruding lines of his own weapons against his back just as she could feel his eyes on her.
Feyre’s blood ran cold as he dismounted. She knew, right then and there, that he was one of the horde kings—one of six that patrolled the lands and punished those who broke Dakkari rules. If he’d been summoned, Feyre had no hope for herself.
Despite her attempt to project courage, her hands shook beneath her cloak. As he approached, Feyre marveled at how large he seemed. Bigger, even, than the warriors behind him. She caught a glimpse of warm, brown skin and the same gold markings, and his tail flicked with just as much agitation as the men behind her.
He was going to kill her.
He stood before her, crossing his arms over his broad chest, causing his biceps to bulge. His fingers—six on each hand—were tipped with lethal looking claws. She couldn’t breathe as he lowered his hood, revealing thick hair so hard it nearly blended into the midnight sky around them. Near black eyes, ringed in the most vibrant shade of violet, stared down at her without mercy.
The shortness of his hair was at odds with the warriors around him, their own long, dark hair braided down their backs. It made the sharpness of his cheekbones seem more prominent, his jaw more chiseled. Feyre’s eyes darted back to his hands, ringed with more of the gold markings that were as big as her upper arms.
She swallowed.
Blinking away the urge to cry, Feyre stood with shaking knees and waited for him to speak. He continued to stare down at her beneath those dark brows. It was the man beside him who finally spoke, eyes sweeping over their little village.
Using the universal tongue, he demanded in a harsh, accented voice, “Were you the one who burned our land and disrespected—-defiled—our goddess, Kakkari?”
Feyre wanted to die. She didn’t dare look behind her where she knew her sisters would be watching, listening to see what happened and if they, too, would be blamed. No one moved from their homes, terrified of the warriors and their wrath. Feyre prayed to the old human gods that Nesta remained indoors, leashing her sharp tongue for once.
“It was an accident,” she heard herself whisper, voice trembling. She didn’t want to seem weak—and she wasn’t going to die on her knees begging. Feyre jutted her chin in the air, looking back at the horde king with as much defiance as she could muster. Her hood still hid her face, but somehow Feyre knew he could see her eyes.
“Are you confessing, vekkiri?” the messenger demanded.
Was she? “You don’t understand,” Feyre began, trying her best to make them hear her out before the inevitably decided her fate. “We’re starving. The dry season has ruined our crops, and we were simply trying–”
The messenger held up a hand, silencing Feyre. She stumbled back a step, certain he was going to strike her.
“We? Name those who aided you in this crime. Your blood will be spilled as repayment for the scorched earth that defiles Kakkari. You took from her, so you will give back.”
Feyre’s stomach dropped to her feet. Turning her eyes back to the silent king before her, Feyre held his gaze. The messenger was merely that—a messenger. He spoke on behalf of his silent king, which meant Feyre needed to convince him rather than the group encircling her. No one else was going to come and protect her or try and take her place.
“Our village will starve if we can’t replenish our crops,” she pleaded, still holding his violet gaze. “We’re not allowed to hunt game—you have made certain of that. And the rations from the Federation come maybe twice a year, which isn’t enough to keep everyone fed no matter how careful we are. I’m sorry about the fire—truly, I am—but we wouldn’t have done it if we weren’t desperate. Look around—”
The messenger once again held up his hand to silence her, and Feyre once again betrayed her fear by taking another step back.
“It is no concern of ours how vekkiri feed themselves,” he barked. It was over, then. Feyre felt helpless rage swirl through her chest. She wanted to scream, wanted to shove and fight until there was nothing left anymore. Would death be a welcome relief, she wondered? Would there be peace? Or nothing at all.
Feyre was too lost in her thoughts to notice the man before her had taken two steps forward, making up the ground lost when she’d stepped back. His voice, though, jolted her from her thoughts. It was dark and rich like the night sky around them, though it filled her with icy fear.
“Remove your hood, kalles,” he ordered. “Show me the face of the female who dares to challenge the Dakkari.”
She was going to be sick. For a moment, Feyre was frozen in place, hands still hidden beneath her cloak. If she pulled them out, he’d see how badly she was shaking and he’d know her words were merely for show. Blowing out a silent breath, Feyre did as she was told and lowered her hood so he could see her.
His nostrils flared at the sight, the only indication he’d had a reaction at all. Feyre didn’t dare recoil, though internally bile rose in her throat. Still, Feyre didn’t dare break eye contact with him, shoulders squared as she faced off with a man who, if he wanted to, could have broken her in half with very little effort.
It also wasn’t lost on her that he was able to be so big because he could eat. Feyre knew what he saw when he looked back—a skinny woman with protruding bones and hollow eyes. She’d seen herself in the filth covered mirror Elain was always trying to keep clean. Did he feel shame, looking back at her?
“Brave kalles,” he murmured, his voice loud enough for his warriors to hear, “foolish kalles, too.”
Feyre bristled at the insult, assuming kalles meant female. She wasn’t a female, she was a woman. Human men who called her female, treating her like she was no better than an animal, met her fists for the insult. She couldn’t take this man, though she knew he saw the way her hands closed to fists at her side.
“My name is Feyre,” she replied angrily, catching the way his nostrils flared again. “I’m not telling you who was involved. I won’t let you hurt them.”
She could feel her sister’s gaze on her back just as she saw his gaze lift over her head toward their shared hut, just close enough to make it obvious where she’d come from. Could he see her sisters in the window watching? Would he guess who she was protecting?
“You won’t let me, kalles?” he murmured, eyes falling back on her face. “I can do whatever I wish.”
He took a step toward the house, prompting Feyre to surge forward and press her hands against his bare chest. All at once, six swords were mere inches from her chin. It was laughable—as if she was any threat. She was only armed with a dagger at her hip that she’d forgotten about until that very moment.
“Please,” she whispered, swallowing hard. Feyre dropped her hand to show she meant him no harm. “Please, just take my life.”
Once again, he looked over her head toward her house and this time, Feyre dared to look back, too. She saw them, illuminated by the oil in the lamp they were wasting to watch. Feyre wished they’d extinguish it and pretend to be asleep. Seeing Elain’s terror and Nesta’s flatness made her stomach churn.
They’d be okay, she reasoned. Elain was beautiful and men were constantly asking for her to marry them. In a village nearby, a man with money had come offering to take Elain as his wife and keep her safe and as well-fed as anyone could hope to be. Elain had been sitting on the offer because Nesta and Feyre couldn’t go with her.
Nesta would urge her to take it. Nesta, too, would find some way to keep herself alive. She’d always been resourceful, Feyre reasoned. Maybe they’d prioritize themselves once she was gone. Not that she’d ever been first in their minds—Nesta took care of Elain, and Elain was simply too sweet to ever consider that Feyre might need to be cared for, too.
The horde king looked back at her. “Please?” Feyre whispered a second time, her voice breaking a little. She swept her braid to the side of her neck as she waited for him to order her to her knees. Would he be the one who did it, she wondered? Or would he order one of his warriors to end her life.
Feyre felt trapped as he stared back, pinned in place. She could scarcely breathe, her terror stripping her of her remaining courage. She felt her bottom lip tremble, felt the need to look down at the ground and become passive in whatever decision would be made.
Beside him, the messenger murmured, “Vorakkar, kivi vekkiri donthanu un kevf?
The silence stretched as the horde king remained silent. He never took those unnerving violet eyes off her. In her hysteria, Feyre thought the violet, set against otherwise black pupils, looked a lot like the sky overhead. Like he had stars in his eyes and it was the universe itself peering back at her.
What would he decide? She didn’t need to understand their language to know his messenger was urging the king to end this. Do you want me to kill her, she bet he’d said. Feyre wanted to scream, the torment of waiting clawing at her throat. She didn’t want to die, just as he knew he hadn’t been lying when he’d told her he could do whatever he liked.
There was no justice for humanity here. No laws that protected them, no governing body that would wonder what became of her. Feyre’s sisters would simply bury her on foreign soil and move on, leaving her little more than a forgotten memory. A warning to children in the future, a tale to remind them to respect the Drakkari or meet the same fate as Feyre Archeron.
“Vorrakar,” the messenger repeated, his tone shifting from urgent to inquisitive. This wasn’t how things were done, then. The horde king straightened, reaching the thick belt around his waist. He unsheathed a curved, lethal looking dagger so quickly Feyre didn’t have time to react. She heard someone scream her name just as he slashed upward.
She’d thought, for a moment, he’d cut her clothes off her body. Instead, he’d simply cut the cloak from around her neck, causing the tattered fabric to flutter to the ground. Her body was revealed to him, then, still hidden beneath the threadbare clothes she wore…but only just. Her trousers were ripped at the knees and a little too small, though hidden by the boots on her feet. And her tunic was too large for her now given how little Feyre consumed, hanging from her body like a dress, though she’d tied a cord around her waist to give it a little shape.
Humiliation and outrage burned through her as his eyes raked over her form. Feyre had little experience with men—she’d had one encounter with a man named Isaac before Nesta had stopped her, warning her that a child would only complicate their situation. And he’d been engaged, besides, not even a few days later. Was he watching, too?
“Don’t touch her!”
That imperious tone could only belong to Nesta. The hoard king didn’t acknowledge her at all, nor did his men move. Feyre glanced over to see her older sister standing just at the door, gripping the handle with white knuckles.
A triumphant smile spread over the face of the king. He knew, then, who she protected. Dragging his eyes back up her body, they once again found her eyes. Feyre felt naked, though she resisted the urge to cover herself. If this was what he’d decided on, that was better than death. She could escape, if she wished.
“Kassikari,” the hoard king murmured so suddenly it made Feyre jump. There was some emotion in his voice she didn’t recognize. The word caught all his warriors by surprise, as their blades dipped so they could all turn to look at him.
Feyre could guess what kassikari meant. Whore.
You can do this, she told herself. Better to be alive and able to return home than dead on the ground. She would do whatever was required of her, though she wouldn’t do it without complaint. He could have his whore, though Feyre intended to fight him every step of the way. She intended to make his life miserable for the duration, until he finally tired of her and dumped her back at her village.
Or…or perhaps she could bargain with him. A year serving him if he freed her at the end. If she pleased him, perhaps he’d agree.
Ignoring the soft conversation the warriors had around her, Feyre took a breath, decided on the course of action.
“You wish to offer your life in exchange for the others?” he asked her suddenly, speaking only to her. “You are willing to die for them?”
Feyre thought of her mother and her desperate, final plea. Taking Elain would destroy not just her, but Feyre and Nesta, too. Feyre knew her eldest sister would never forgive her. Nesta might be willing to demand a horde king not touch her, but she wouldn’t offer herself up, either. She wouldn’t leave Elain behind.
Feyre’s tongue stuck to the roof of her mouth as she nodded her head, saying, “I am.”
“If I agree not to kill you or your sisters, will you serve me, kalles?”
There was no mistaking his meaning. The look in his eyes was too sharp, his tone too suggestive. Feyre swallowed the bile rising in her throat. She wanted to spit in his face, to tell him to get fucked and take her punishment at the end of the blade. Surely that was the more honorable way to go.
But she didn’t want to die. With a frantic desperation, Feyre wanted to remain alive. Still, she forced herself to say, “Serve you?”
He cocked his head to the side. “Yes.”
So she was right, then. Kassikari, the whore. He’d put her in his bed and do…Feyre didn’t want to think about it, actually. Whatever she imagined likely had nothing on what he was capable of. Judging from the coldness radiating from him, Feyre couldn’t imagine he’d be kind about it. That he’d treat her well. Was it better to just die here rather than after months of being broken by this man?
Against her will, her eyes cut back to Nesta who still stood there, proud as queen as she stared down Feyre. Those steely gray eyes seemed to say, you don’t have to do this.
But they both knew she did. He had all the leverage and had the moment Nesta had stepped out that door. Though Nesta hadn’t meant to, she’d become merely another piece in the puzzle that was meant to entrap Feyre.
She waited a beat, praying for some kind of intervention. Some stroke of brilliance that would come to her and free her from circumstance. There was only silence.
“I will,” she rasped as dread flooded through her.
“No!” Nesta cried, taking two steps forward. The hoard kings eyes snapped to her, lips curling into a vicious snarl. Feyre panicked, her hands once again finding his chest as he began to surge forward to do…Feyre didn’t know what. Didn’t want to know what.
“Please,” she pleaded, forcing him to look back down at her. “I’ll go with you right now. Right now. I’ll do whatever you ask, just…just don’t hurt her. Please.”
She was shaking so hard the words seemed unintelligible. She could be brave for herself, could pretend she was strong, but the thought of watching him kill Nesta before dragging her off was too much. Feyre would have gotten on her knees or thrown herself at his feet to prevent that from happening. She wanted to leave knowing her sisters were alive and safe.
All Feyre had left was her pride. Everything else belonged to this man, bargained away to keep her sisters safe. And right then, Feyre wasn’t above begging, pride be damned. He didn’t move, chest rising and falling rapidly though this time his warriors didn’t raise their blades. Perhaps they reasoned there was no need for it given he’d just announced to everyone she was to be his whore.
“Please?” she tried one last time. Did he hear her fear? Could he taste it, coppery and metallic like blood?
No one moved—not even Nesta—as they awaited his decision. He took a breath and then— “We ride out. Now.”
He turned as Feyre’s hands dropped from his chest like he’d burned her. As he moved toward his scaled beasts, his warriors sheathed their blades quickly, all in unison. Darting from his grasp, Feyre ran to Nesta.
“Don’t forget what I showed you,” she breathed, well aware the hoard king was coming for her. “Don’t just marry anybody if you get desperate—negotiate with the Nolans so they’ll take you, too.”
“I’ll find you,” Nesta whispered, her voice as strong as any Drakkari blade. “I swear—”
“Now, kalles,” the hoard king ordered. Nesta looked at him, spine made of steel as Feyre turned.
“Let her say goodbye—”
“If you wanted to say goodbye, you should have thought of that before,” he shot back, his voice dripping with condemnation. Before you lit the fire, before you let her take the blame, before you stood there and did nothing, those violet eyes seemed to say.
Feyre threw her arms around Nesta, hugging her for the first time in living memory. Nesta gasped, shocked, and by the time her mind seemed to catch up with what was happening, the hoard king was pulling her back.
“Keep each other safe,” Feyre said, stumbling backward beneath his clawed grip. There was enough dried meat to keep them going through the cold season, and who knew? Maybe by then the hoard king would have tired of her. Maybe she’d be free to return and she could pick up where they left off.
His fingers tightened on her shoulder, turning her around and steering her toward the rusted iron gates of their settlement. No one moved to help—even Nesta vanished back into the hut once it was safe to do so. She didn’t believe her sister would find her, or even try, though she understood why Nesta had said so.
Hope was enough to keep a person going.
Feyre couldn’t hide her fear any longer as she walked in front of the massive man, his hand never leaving her shoulder even when she tried to wriggle out from beneath his grasp. As the other warriors mounted the beasts, Feyre began to balk, digging her heels into the ground. She knew the largest one belonged to him and did not want to get on top of it.
The creature looked like it could swallow her in one bite.
“Is this the thing that frightens you, kallas?” he asked with amusement. Feyre eyed the battle-worn beast, standing on four large legs with claws tipped at the end of the its feet so large and lethal looking she was certain they were larger than the dagger sheathed at her belt.
Like the man behind her as well, the scales of the dark creature were painted in looping gold. What did it mean?
Red eyes peered at her, wide and curious as its face came closer and closer. Feyre recoiled, accidentally slamming her back against his front. The red was too reminiscent of a time in her past when she’d had to kill a trio of innocents—no one else had the stomach to end their suffering and so Feyre had taken her blade in an attempt to give them a clean, easy death.
Only, she hadn’t known what she was doing, and when blood began to pour from the first person’s throat as they clawed and gasped, Feyre had realized there was no mercy in death.
She’d been made to do it two more times.
Panic clawed at her. Feyre tried to move away from the creature but the hoard king wouldn’t allow her, grabbing her waist and swinging her up onto the beast before coming up right behind her. She couldn’t wriggle away, trapped between the solid muscles of his thighs and the unmovable wall that was his chest.
Wrapping one arm firm around her waist, the other came for the reins of the creature as Feyre tried to adjust the wide stretch of her legs over the cold scales of the beast. It was like sitting atop a rock, though when it moved she felt the beast's muscles flex. She wanted to be sick.
The horde king adjusted, coming closer until she could feel all of him pressed against her, including his groin. He wasn’t hard, but it was there, nestled between them as the heat of his much larger body enveloped her.
She didn’t react when he made a guttural noise, nor did she jump when the creature turned toward the vast expanse of grassy lands. In some ways, the whole thing felt like a vivid dream. This wasn’t happening, she thought to herself. She was just in bed and in the morning she’d wake and the ground would be fine, Elain would be going over the meager crops with other villagers and Feyre would be sneaking off to hunt.
Feyre turned her head to look upward at the starry night sky. The moon watched, keeping silent vigil over her plight.
And no one, not even the gods, intervened.

couldn't stop thinking about braiding finnick's hair after this ask, so i wrote this!
finnick odair lets you braid his hair
after the rebellion, finnick let his hair grow out. his once short and always-stylized hair was replaced by a beautiful long golden mane that cascaded over his shoulders. at first, he didn’t think much about his hair, neglecting it and just letting it grow. but after noticing it getting damaged and constantly tangled in knots, you decided to intervene.
after preparing some homemade remedies to help restore his hair’s health, you headed to his home and sat him down to work with him. “don’t fall asleep on me, odair,” you scolded him with a playful tone as you massaged his scalp and hair with warm coconut oil. “mm,” he grumbled, almost succumbing into the arms of morpheus, “just keep doing your magic.”
as you waited for an hour for the oil to work before you had to rinse it out, you talked to him about some grooming habits he needed to adopt. “i’m going to forget them, sweetheart,” he told you sincerely, “you know i’ve never been good at routines.” looking at him, even in this state, was entrancing. his hair was up and covered in the white liquid, he was only wearing his cotton deep blue shorts, and he was looking at you with a sweet, shy smile. ever since the rebellion ended, the look in his eyes had gotten softer, more relaxed. “i can help you with that,” you blurted out, too bewitched by his green eyes to care if it was extra work for you. anything related to finnick would never be a burden for you.
rinsing his hair was relaxing for both finnick and you. the warm water traveling through his scalp made him let out a quiet sigh, and the gentle touch of your fingers in his hair was making him drowsy.
you loved brushing finnick’s hair, cherishing that you were one of the few people finnick trusted so dearly to let you do it. it was always challenging to avoid pulling his hair during  the nights he invited you over, as several knots and tangles had formed from spending most of his day helping rebuild the district and fishing to sell at the market. however, you were always gentle, careful to not inflict any pain on him.
at times, he would let you braid his hair or put it in pigtails, sitting on your bed as you managed his golden locks with experienced hands. when he went out, he happily showed off his hairstyle to everyone he encountered, proudly telling them you had styled it. when you braid it, he loves to joke around, grabbing branches that resembled a bow and an arrow. “watch me, i’m the girl on fire,” he would say as he shoots an arrow into the sky. he loves having the same hairstyle as you, playfully warning you that someone might confuse you with him. he absolutely hates ponytails, he feels his face is being pulled back and he gets in a bad mood.
