doing a research project on the SNES and its definitely making me even more annoying that usual

#did you guys know that the aspect ratio of the SNES's output doesnt match the standard aspect ratio for CRT TVs #and most games didnt even bother to compensate for this but ALTTP specifically made their sprites look squished on the SNES output #so that the skew that the pixels experienced when displayed on the tv screen would make the sprites look natural rather than stretched out #i fucking love video games so much man. oh my god game design is so cool #personal #WAIT. #im gonna do the interior tmrw but im pretty happy with how these turned out #i used the volvo laplander as reference for the front and the rest is based on a honda mini pickup truck #the bars around the chassis was an afterthought.. partly bc i thought it would look cool and partly because i thought #it would be good to add something to keep the trailer attachment in place.. i think theyre used more for offroad vehicles though idk #the folding screen is also partly to block out the view of sleights room and its painted with stars to act as a backdrop #idk if the stage is strong enough to support her weight with just thick wires keeping it suspended so.. maybe smth like #a table or chair gets wedged underneath to support it from the bottom too. i just couldnt fit it on there #myart #my art #my oc #oc #sleight #concept art #doodles #vehicles #sketches #wip #idk if im gonna color this i think ill just leave it like this

Why the fuck are there roller skates, dubstep, stage lighting, an LED screen, and all kinds of modern technology in Xilonen's trailer??? I thought Fontaine had the most advanced technology next to Schneznaya and arguably Sumeru, and every instance of high-end technology we have seen leaned more towards machinations with gears, magic, alchemy, essentially fantasy styled sci-fi???

The disrespect towards Native American and African cultures is enough to piss me off already, but it even goes against Genshin's own consistency with its fantastical world design..and for what? Just so you can have this...pop and gamer aesthetic???

Just look at these two bubbly and optimistic characters for me okay

Yoimiya's design isn't the most respectful and accurate representation of a Japanese firework craftsman, but at least you can damn tell she is Japanese. The large ribbons, hair accessories, tassels, leg covering, tattoo design, shoe style, and fabric patterns all allude to this (I apologize for not knowing the exact terminologies for these, this needs further research).

Then there's Mualani who has...what? Please do correct me if I am wrong here, but her character must be inspired by the real Mualani, a Hawaiian Chiefess. Additionally, her tribe's specialty is in tourism and vacationing, which further leads into the idea that she and her tribe are based off of Hawaii despite the known issues regarding Hawaii and tourism (if there are any good sources that summarize the issue, please do lmk).

I am not too familiar with Hawaiian culture, but there really is nothing about her design that reads as Hawaiian, or even just traditional, to me. What about a 2 piece swimsuit with bows and tails, a bow + braids + ponytail hair style, combat gloves (?), and an entire neon shark, is Hawaiian???

The characters, their designs, and their trailers, are just so culturally disconnected from their real life counterpart that it's even disconnected to Genshin's own world building and design. How the fuck is the fashion trend in Natlan denim pants. I feel like the only parts of Natlan that feel like Genshin Impact and culturally inspired are the in-game music and landscapes (God bless Hoyo-mix and the world designers).

just saw venom 3 and im so angry. it was such a disappointing experience, im honestly shocked. the writing and ending were abysmal, not at all the campy and ridiculously fun movies that came before. what happened??

So I went to the wiki page for the henghill Bullet & Brain mission of 2.2 looking for some dialogue I had missed and

a) I found something incredibly tasty that slotted into some other thoughts I'd been having, more on that on another day, and

b) I saw this super fun little trivia at the bottom, which!

I knew Penacony characters like Boothill took a lot of inspirations from old movies, but I didn't realize it was even in his and Dan Heng's relationship, that's so cool!!

It fits them very well, it's such a fun reference. "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" was an old buddy Western film (from 1969- nice) about a pair of outlaws. Butch Cassidy was the leader of a gang, and described as clever, affable, and talkative. Meanwhile, his closest companion, the Sundance Kid, was known as a man of few words.

Cassidy's original birth name was much more plain, but similar to Boothill, he took on a new moniker when he became an outlaw. "Cassidy" had been the last name of his beloved mentor, who taught him how to shoot and ride. And Sundance Kid was known as he was because Sundance was the name of his hometown, and it was the only place that had ever managed to catch and jail him, back when he'd been younger (also similar to Dan Heng, but ouch).

These two stick together like glue throughout the length of the film- through Cassidy's leadership of the gang being challenged, through a train robbery gone wrong, through being pursued by mercenaries, and even through fleeing to Bolivia and trying to start over together.

I don't want to say too much more, since the mission title is referencing one specific movie that I've never seen. I kinda wanna watch it now, though, just to see the inspiration that went into Boothill and Dan Heng and how they get along. I just think it's really sweet that these two were literally made to be the best of bros, how lovely is that. 💕

alicent's whole life has revolved around keeping her children alive, even and especially at the cost of their own happiness. everything she's ever done, everything she's ever sacrificed - her body, her freedom, her dignity - has been to that end. so her decision in the finale is a pretty stunning reversal.

if you're gonna make alicent suddenly overcome the sunk cost fallacy and decide that she's willing to sacrifice the kids she destroyed her life for to attain personal freedom at long last - an idea that I do actually find quite compelling!!! no one else on this show deserves to be monstrously selfish more than alicent!!! - you have GOT to build up to that shit more. getting fired from the small council cannot POSSIBLY be the thing that convinces alicent "i'm done w this shit i'm gonna sacrifice my sons and escape my ongoing self-destruction". one frolic in the woods CANNOT convince me she's ready to abandon it all. alicent's woodland adventures were not nearly cool enough to be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

this is not a character arc y'all. this is a "hey wouldn't it be cool if alicent and rhaenerya thematically switched places" coming up in the writer's room and then the writers tossing it in the last two episodes rather than working towards that endpoint throughout the entire season. It's not just a stretch, it's a slap in the face.
