I actually managed to finish a draft of a story today, and I'm pretty happy with it. I might even share it on here before the year is out.

But before that... I think I might treat myself to a day off. Y'know, cos it's Christmas tomorrow and all that.

I'm gonna start putting my little stories on World Anvil as well as my website. I think it could be fun. Plus, I'm already down the rabbit hole of wanting to make pages about literally everything in my world. I'll share links soon! Maybe today... Or next week. It'll depend on how organised I am.

WIP Wednesday

Today I'm working on my response to the Ko-Fi Author Avengers January prompt (click here to join our Discord). This month's prompt is:

A broken teacup, carefully mended with gold, becomes a symbol of resilience and hope.

In response to this, I'm currently working on a short(ish) Glintsprock story where a character calls Glintsprock a buffoon. Rude.

How's it going?

You may have noticed that things look a little different since the last email (unless you're new... in which case, WELCOME!!!). I decided it was time for a change, so I've switched to SendFox to manage my mailing list. I used SendFox a few years ago, but stopped when I realised it was missing a few features I desired. Now that those features (and more) have been added, it's time to return!

One of features is a cool referral link thing. --- details on this are only available in the newsletter. Mainly because I can't work out how to make it work here.

Do I know it's Christmastime?

The Gathering at the Gallows

As mentioned above, the next Morga episode will be a little later than planned because I'm working on (yet another) project! This is a goblin-flavoured tale that features Glintsprock (everybody's favourite frog player), magic (well, duh!), mayhem (also, duh!), and executions! Fun, fun, fun! The plan is to have this little story ready for human consumption in January.

WHAT'S THE PLAN FOR JANUARY?

Hiya fiends!

I've got a lot of stories to write in 2024, so I thought I'd share a little plan with you each month. This way, you'll know what I'm working on (and when you can expect new stuff)... and it will (hopefully) keep me motivated and on schedule. We'll see if this method actually works! 

Here's my plan for January:

1. Write and publish Ko-Fi Author Avengers January prompt (I'm about a third of the way through at the moment).

2. Write and publish Episode 6 of Morga Skullsplitter (I've missed my orc friend after this short break. It'll be cool to see what she's up to!).

3. Continue writing "The Gathering at the Gallows" (I'd love to say I'll finish it this month, but I don't want to try to do TOO much. We'll see what happens!)

As 2024's shadow is looming over us, I thought I'd share my plans for the next 12 months. (I've also posted this on my Ko-Fi page. Please feel free to read it there if you'd prefer.)

The Adventures of Morga Skullsplitter

🖋️New episodes - my plan is to write and publish at least 12 episodes.

🖋️Finish the first main story arc - This web series will be made up of several story arcs, and I'd like to be able to finish the first main one during the next 12 months.

📗Publish the first paperback and eBook volume (collecting the episodes of the first arc)

🎧Record some audio episodes!

Glintsprock's Quest

🖋️Write and publish "The Gathering at the Gallows". I've already written a large part of the draft for this, and it's shaping up to be a really fun story.

🖋️Write and publish the Glintsprock story for the January prompt in the Ko-Fi Author Avengers.

🖋️Write "Goblins and Mobsters" (novel)

👀Edit "Glintsprock’s Quest: The Search for the Skrillbrat Sasquatch" (novella)

🎧Record an audio version of "Mirror Mirror" and "A Winternight Reunion".

The Volkdrow Chronicles

🖋️ Write Book 2 of "The Volkdrow Chronicles". It will be wonderful if I can also edit and publish it in 2024, but I know how long Book 1 took, so I'm going to be kind to myself and not stick a deadline on it.

I had thought that I wasn’t going to be able to take part in this month’s Ko-Fi Author Avengers Writing Prompt, but I had a flash of inspiration a couple of days before Christmas and now there’s a brand new short story to share with you. 

This month’s prompt was:

In the dark of night, you hear a voice: the voice you most want to hear in the world, and the one you know is impossible to be hearing again.

Sending out a HUGE thanks to Victoria Audley for choosing that prompt – it’s perfect for this time of year.

As usual, I’ve interpreted this one a little loosely. I’m not sure Glintsprock particularly wants to hear this voice, but he’s a weird little chap, so you never know!

One dark winter night, Glintsprock hears a voice – a voice he hasn’t heard for five years…A story of ghosts and revenge… 👻
