I love when I see posts like "Share how many crochet WIPs you currently have! I have 5, it's so many!"

Like, girl, I have unfinished projects from over a decade ago that I refuse to frog on the off chance I decide to finish them. I've found years-old projects I forgot I even started and will impulsively just finish it on the spot. I've started three different projects in the last 2 months, including one I started yesterday, that I already know I may or may not finish within the year depending on motivation.

The number of WIPs I have is infinite.

The ears are definitely the part of the head that I've been dreading the most, because I've always struggled to make them work. I was never 100% satisfied with the ear results on past heads, so this time I'm trying a different method. It's based on TinnatuPaws's ear patterns, not actually printing and using any of them directly because I wanted that front border to have a slightly different shape, but taking the general method/idea. Took a couple hours to put together a working pattern because I only had a vague idea of what I was doing, and I guess the final look is pretty similar to TinnatuPaws's canine ear design anyways so perhaps it would've been easier to just use that one directly but w/e too late now. I think it turned out pretty alright, but of course the real test will come once I actually put fur on it.

These ears also probably look a tad on the large side for a standard housecat--that was intentional; I'm a bit worried about this head base being a bit too small compared to the other parts of the suit so I'm gonna try compensating by exaggerating the ears, head floof, and cheek floofs a bit. This base already has proportionally very large eyes so I think I can get away with it. Fingers crossed!

I did try on my previous head with the new body the other day to get a better idea of the size ratio and it looked alright, though while the base for my previous head is similar in size to this new one, I do think it might be sliiiiiightly larger overall, even accounting for the fact that it has fur and this one doesn't yet. Hopefully the difference won't be all that significant and I won't be walking around with a comically tiny head, but as with the ear method, the real test won't be till I actually fur it. So....we shall see.

I'm merrily calling this project 'my descent into madness' and I'm having a grand old time. I'm engraining the metric system in my brain (American down, folks), I'm delighting in how comfy this thing is going to be (I did a quick pinned fitting with the side gores in, it is so soft and so flowy, and it'll be even more flowy once I get the front and back gores in), and I not only definitely have enough fabric for the sleeves, scary as they may be, but probably one or two kerchiefs as well! I won't wear those with the kirtle, that's too much dark blue in one go, though.

I remembered that I can actually do anything I want, so I've been using faux fur as a texture element in patching up my old ripped jeans (not done stitching yet as evidenced by the pins on the border of it)

I am also going to buy red thread and try to include a decorative amogus somewhere on here.

after just over 2 years of work, i finished the Ace Jon Quilt.

inspired by @/speakerunfolding's fanart of jon jarchivist sims with an ace-colors quilt, which was so sweet and cozy and which is still one of my favorite pieces of jon artwork. anything unsightly in this quilt is original to my work; the fanart is adorable and lovely, 10/10, no notes.

as previously mentioned, i've been working on this quilt since late 2022, which means i started it when i was still pretty new to quilting. i batch-cut a bunch of pieces for the the gray squares, and they were a quarter inch too small, which doesn't sound like it should be a big deal! but it sure was! there is....... not as much lining up of the squares as there should be, and it does not lie particularly flat.

it's also the biggest quilt i've made - approx 7 x 9 feet. actually quilting it was a pain in the ass, which is why i didn't do as much of it as i probably should, but i love quilting with decorative stitches. i backed it with bubble/double gauze which i didn't want to put through the machine, so i did most of the quilting on the top and batting and tacked it to the backing by hand. the green thread is because, you know, tma, and also because why not throw some aro + agender garnish on the ace quilt?

ANYWAY. all the yapping to say. i love this quilt. it's messy and imperfect and i worked on it through a nearly month-long cold/headache to finish it, it's essentially all i've done since christmas besides sleep and watch arcane. don't look too close at anything about it except for the parts that i was not necessarily responsible for, but also......... look at it !!! this is currently my masterpiece and i can't wait to cuddle up underneath it properly.

Look, I'm just saying. Whoever keeps deciding to list their brands as "size inclusive" & "plus size" when their largest size is a women's 14?

I think fat people should be allowed to hunt them for sport.
