Working class is the stoic acceptance of fifty years of suck jobs... -- Michael Lipsey

Over the past 42 years, Reaganomics has moved over 60,000 factories and nearly 20 million good-paying manufacturing jobs overseas.
It’s cut taxes on billionaires to the point they pay an average 3.4% income tax (when they pay anything at all: Trump, taking in billions, paid $750 a year for almost two decades).
Reagan’s policies destroyed the American union movement and stole $51 trillion from working-class people, putting almost every penny of it into the money bins of the GOP’s morbidly rich patrons.
The MAGA Party (formerly known as Republican Party) serves the interests of their right-wing billionaire donors/owners. The sham SCOTUS is bought and paid for - corrupted by the insane amounts of legalized bribery available since the destructive democracy-killing Citizens United decision.

Vegans are some of the most classist and especially ableist people I've ever met and it never fails to baffle me how one can extend so much empathy to every animal except the human.
That being said I'm also fully convinced it's no coincidence that vegetarians and vegans have been turned into these elitist groups, who are made to think of themselves as better than others while everyone else is made to think of them as obnoxious. It's just another way of vilifying climate activism while also pushing the entire issue back onto the individual rather than onto the corporations that actually cause it.
#but seriously ya'll every workingclass person not eating meat cannot and will not fix this.#not everyone can even change their diet this drastically.#stop focusing on this and start focusing on the actual climate criminals.#the issue with our meat consumption isnt that we eat meat but how we do the farming.#also there is no such thing as a sustainable product. just bc there is no animal parts in it doesnt mean its automatically sustainable.#there is no ethical consumption under capitalism#capitalism is inherently built on exploiting humans and the environment.#u cannot not be part of this harm unless u literally move into a mountain and make *everything* urself#so stop trying to rid urself of a guilt that u didnt cause and cant stop and start ridding urself of ur chains#the only way to actually stop animal suffering. though i hope your activism goes further than that. is to stop capitalism.#nothing left to lose but our chains

Galibot - Euch’Mau Noir (full album, 2024) | Black Metal
youtube
Many of us who like metal are urban workers of the service sectors - lawyers, clerks, health workers, drivers, teachers, IT - but there's also quite a few industrial workers among the fans and musicians. And among the industrial sectors, probably none are more feared than the mining business, and rightly so - after all, going hundreds of meters below ground to break rock in search of useful and/or precious substances, dealing with gases, explosives, dangerous and heavy equipment, little light, occupational illnesses, and the ever present nightmare of the ceiling collapsing upon you is no small thing. Today's band, GALIBOT, hails from a mining town in Northern France and is concerned precisely with the lives of the "small people" who go through that every single day to supply capitalism with a large part of its essential materials. They do so through melodic, somewhat raw black metal sung in French, in the vein of Black Birch or Lepra, that we feel is quite effective at recreating the spirit of those at places such as Soma, Mariana, El Teniente, Courriéres, Marikana and Centralia. Galibot shows that every leftist needs to discuss the dangers of mining for workers and for the environment, and if we want leftist metal to be relevant as a movement to change society in any way, we must move towards the working class - for WE are part of it, and we have nothing to lose but our chains!

Happy World Chocolate Day?
Well, not if you're one of the >1.6 million kids slaving away in West Africa (or Brazil or Latin America) for up to 14 hours/day, sometimes literally as slaves, under dangerous conditions, to produce the majority of the chocolate sold by the major candy companies, including Mars Wrigley, Ferrero, Mondelez International, Meiji Co. Ltd., Nestle and Hershey Co.
In 2021, SCOTUS ruled 8-1 that Big Chocolate had no responsibility to ensure that their products were not produced by child laborers.

(via Opinion | Trump's Dreamland for Billionaires Is a Nightmare for America's Working Class | Common Dreams)
Thom Hartmann lays out the stark contrast in Democrats versus Republicans and how Republicans have fought to decimate or privatize every single program aimed at reducing poverty and creating a strong middle class.
