i keep coming back to 'i was a functioning alcoholic til nobody noticed my new aesthetic' because i do distinctly remember conversations about how taylor seemed to be drinking a lot more and getting drunk at like every awards show she went to. and those conversations were coming from a place of concern and of hoping that she was alright and that this wasn't a problem.
so to then say 'ugh i can't believe no one noticed this problem i had' when i know that people definitely did, and on the same album say that fans who are genuinely concerned about a new relationship that you are in are just 'bitching and moaning'? what do you want from them? you're talking about so many people who do at least believe that they are coming from a place of care and concern, and you are totally dismissing them on both ends of a scale!
not to mention that her implying that since nobody (???) was noticing her ~aesthetic~ drinking problem she just stopped having it is a bit of a kick in the teeth to people who do have drinking problems and can't just stop having them, since that's not how it fucking works.

Do you ever think about how important and significant Alex's action to give his key to Henry was?
Tumblr media
Alex had brought the key with him everywhere throughout his life since he got it.
Then, the first moment he's quietly alone with Henry, Alex gets to explain what it means to him: it's the key to his family's house in Austin.
Tumblr media
But it means much more to him: it's from the times when his family was still all together (book), it's his childhood, his time growing up in Texas, it's his mixed blood, and the quiet life he left behind to follow his mother in something bigger than him.
That key is his comfort and reminder of what he was and the memories he will treasure forever.
Tumblr media
Alex doesn't tell all of this to Henry, but Mr. HRH Prince Dickhead knows there's more about it underneath, just like how he had always known Alex wasn't just a peasant boy.
Alex brings his keychain everywhere and Henry is always there to admire it.
Tumblr media
The key to Henry means something completely different: it's the reminder of his unusual life, the fact that he can't have such normal things as possessing a simple key, it represents all the things he can only admire from afar but he'll never be able to posses.
And then Alex breaks the wall that Henry thought would suffocate him forever, that seemed impossible to destroy.
Tumblr media
Alex starts to remove the key when he's in the most intimate moments with Henry. He decides to leave the thoughts and worries related to his family for another time. He decides to be fully Henry's, even during just brief rendezvous.
And Henry takes everything he can, as far as he can. Till the moment, he's sure will come, when the magic breaks and the key will return to be something to admire and desire from afar, but never possess.
Tumblr media
But Alex isn't just a peasant boy.
He hands over his childhood, his memories and his whole being to Henry, with just a simple gesture. Alex says "Henry, I'm yours." by giving him the object of his desires, by breaking the illusion that Henry can't be a normal boy, simply owning the key of someone's heart.
Tumblr media
And Henry is reluctant to accept it, cause he knows (just like he had always known that Alex wasn't just a peasant boy) that the key means so much to him. But Henry accepts, cause he wants to believe that the wall between them can break, Alex made him believe it. And he grips and holds onto that hope like his life depends on it, cause it does.
Alex is the only key to his freedom.

i could write an essay on how deeply i love you're on your own, kid but one of the lines that i personally love is the resolve in "i play my songs in the parking lot, i'll run away". i love that she wrote it from her pov in the past, but then switches to present and i love how that theme of running away came to her when she was younger as a safety net. you can always run away. you can always start over. when you're young, you just run. would you run away with me? don't say yes, run away now. they are the hunters we are the foxes, and we run. all there's left to do is run. voted most likely to run away with you. oh you never thought i'd run.

when you platonically change your will after having a platonic near-death experience where your (work) partner platonically claws at the mud with his bare hands to platonically rescue you while screaming and sobbing . and make it so that (platonically) your best friend will become the legal guardian of your child in the event of your death, even though there are at least 5+ family members literally begging to take care of your child. and you say no. i want my platonic best friend to raise my son. platonically. and then you keep it a secret and don’t tell him about it for a YEAR because everything is totally normal and platonic. and then you get shot and your best friend platonically lives in your house to platonically raise your child while you’re in the hospital . and u say hey dummy. u are not expendable to me and actually i did this top-secret thing that i was never planning on telling you about because i trust you more than anyone else in my entire life . platonically.

I think this album goes back to something really intrinsic about Taylor which is: she wants to be understood through her writing. I also think it’s really incredible how she’s created an entire world through her writing. The lore. The backstories. The understanding. The connections. Etc!

Taylor turning herself in was such a fun twist and character moment, and idk I see some people disliked it and hate Dinah for orchestrating it and I get that but it fits her. Taylor is someone who will throw herself away for the greater good, and if she thinks she has a way to help she has to do it. "Cut Ties / I'm Sorry" was practically a guarantee that she'd leave, because it's Dinah appealing to her compulsive need to help, and Dinah's appeal to this was born out of a very similar need to do something to stop the end of the world. There's an interesting parallel there, where Taylor hurts her friends that she cares about by leaving them all behind when she defects, and Dinah hurts Taylor who saved her and she definitely cared about Taylor on some level. Neither of them want to do what they feel they have to do, but there's no other way that they can see to help.
Also important to remember that Dinah played a part in setting Taylor down the path to being Khepri, she just completely fucks up the girl who saved her time and time again, and what's ironic is that I think Taylor would do the same if it was the only way she saw. They're both incredibly result-focused people, which is what makes the entire mess with the notes so fun to me. Dinah wouldn't fuck over Taylor like that if she wasn't so focused on saving everyone, and her method of doing it wouldn't have worked if Taylor wasn't just as determined to do that good and stop the apocalypse. And it aches for both of them, when Khepri gives that slip of paper back to Dinah she finally gets hit with the full realization of the fact that she played a part in breaking Taylor. Idk where I'm going with this, I just think "The girl who you constantly threw away your morals and feelings and hurt others to save throws away her own morals and feelings and hurts you to save even more people" is such a wonderful little dynamic.

Not to pull seniority, but Oliver has always spoken respectfully about his ongoing LI's to media. It's been on his private socials he's been more free with his opinions - and that changed during S6 when he remade his ig (again) and stopped sharing as many personal selfies and spontaneous stories.

saw a perfect explanation of why i dont like taylor swift and yeah it’s cause she’s a figurehead of feminism who doesn’t do activism and weaponizes feminism when it comes to personal attacks on herself
