You once told me that I am a different person to different people and I can’t deny. I have always been a people pleaser and saying no was never the answer. That meant spending time with people who never understood boundaries, taking long walks with people who eat your ears, letting people drain your energy when all you wanted was some peace. I hated hurting people, so I chose to go along with the drama, with all the unwanted intrusions. But finally I realise, all this time when I was trying hard to be kind or considerate, I was being unkind and cruel to me. I gave away my time and space just to be loved, but forgot to love myself. And I wonder, “Of all the things I’ve loved, why have I never loved myself?. Why was I never proud enough of the person I have become?
