It's time to stop randomly putting out dogs for adoption but instead to ask the dog what kind of home he would prefer. How do we do that? Through detailed temperament tests. Mia, il robot per intrattenere (e controllare) gli animali

Lasciare gli animali domestici da soli in casa non è facile per tutti, ecco una possibile soluzione per sentirsi meno in colpa

È stato l'anno scorso, che si è sentito parlare per la prima volta di Anthouse, un robot interattivo progettato per intrattenere i cani in ambiente domestico. Sfortunatamente quel progetto è stato cancellato, ma i padroni di animali domestici dal carattere difficile possono recuperare la speranza, Kickstarter ha infatti colpito nel segno con Mia.

Creata dall'azienda canadese Kolony Robotic, Mia è progettata per girare autonomamente in giro per casa, su qualsiasi tipo di pavimento, evitando automaticamente ostacoli e scale, mentre il padrone è fuori senza il suo animale. Il numero di volte in cui si avvia, così come le ore del giorno in cui lo fa, vengono programmati dall'utente tramite un'app, disponibile sia per iOS che per Android.

L'idea è che il cane o il gatto, incuriositi, seguano il robot nelle sue escursioni, dando loro modo di fare un po' di esercizio e di stimolarli mentalmente. Una volta che il fattore novità verrà meno, l'animale sarà comunque interessato a Mia per un semplice motivo: può essere programmato per distribuire dei deliziosi ricompense, ricaricabili dall'utente, grazie ad uno scomparto integrato, mentre è in movimento.

Il corpo del robot è costituito da un polimero resistente a prova di morso, nel caso in cui l'animale domestico decida di usare le maniere forti, in più si spegne automaticamente se rovesciato. La batteria dovrebbe durare circa una settimana dopo ogni ricarica, considerando tre sessioni di gioco da 15 minuti l'una al giorno.

Gli extra opzionali includono WoofBox e MiaCam, dotate di Wi-Fi. WoofBox è un dispositivo sensibile al suono che rileva quando il cane dell'utente abbaia e lo notifica tramite l'app. A quel punto l'utente può quindi attivare da remoto Mia in maniera che distragga il cane, con anche la possibilità di impostarlo in maniera tale che WoofBox attivi automaticamente il robot ogni volta che il cane abbaia.

MiaCam invece è, non a caso, una webcam stazionaria. Si accende automaticamente quando Mia è in azione, consentendo all'utente di guardare da remoto il proprio animale domestico interagire col robot, tramite l'app.

Se si è interessati ad acquistare un robot Mia, con 169 dollari canadesi, circa 130 dollari statunitensi, si avrà solo il robot, sempre che raggiunga l'effettiva produzione. Per invece 379 dollari canadesi, circa 294 dollari statunitensi, si riceverà il pacchetto completo con i due extra.

Do you think your chummy dog is acting weird lately? Is he sad?

Is it possible that depression creeps into dogs?

Why not.. Dogs are the most sensitive pets and they have feelings too. Humans tend to get depressed when something doesn’t go quite right. The same applies to your pet dog too.  Experts say that depression in dogs is not much different than that of in humans. So, if you have started noticing mood changes in your pet dog, chances are that something is troubling your chummy pup.

How to know that your furry companion is sad?

No more excitement and curiosity as usual – This is the most significant symptom to notice if your pooch is depressed. You will feel like what’s wrong with your pup and why isn’t he showing interest in the things that once excited him the most. Does your chummy furry fellow no longer welcome you with the same face and excitement he used to? You may even observe that your pup is hiding from you when you want to take him on a walk or to his favorite places.

 More of a sleep slug lately – You will notice that your pooch is spending most of his time sleeping. Yeah, its normal for a dog to sleep if they are tired, or no one is around in house. But if your pup prefers to sleep even when you are home or even when you try encouraging him to play, it’s a warning sign.

 Changes in eating habits – Just like we do not like eating when we are sad, dogs may also show lack of interest in eating food. They may not behave the same way even when you buy their favorite food that once brightened their eyes with joy. Your pooch might not even touch that tasty pot of dog food or may have started eating less due to sadness.

Getting aggressive and pacing– Now this depends on how close you are with your dog. If you have noticed your pup preferring solitude lately and getting irritated or even aggressive when surrounded with crowd then it’s his depression that he doesn’t like company of people he used to. A depressed dog seems to be restless and continues moving from one room to another hurriedly. Much like human behavior right?

 Excessive chewing or licking – Your pooch is usually the smart and a obedient one to you and never mess up things. But if you have observed your pup chewing around furniture messing up with your bed, cushions and your sofa or even tearing them up, this sudden behavioral change is related to depression.

Changes in body language –When your pooch waves his tail , you can tell that he is happy or excited and a rapid movement indicates worry or danger. In a similar way, depressed dogs keep their tail usually down. Look in their eyes, eyes tell a lot about your pup’s state of mind. Squinting eyes to make them smaller, pulling back ears and licking their paws too often are some of warning signs of depression.

What to do next?

Your flurry friend deserves your concern if you have noticed these symptoms. Following are some things to help your pooch get back on track.

Sadness is related to physical ailment. If you are troubled what’s wrong with the physical well being of your pup see a doctor to make sure the dog is not depressed due to a recent decease or weakness.

Review your dog’s routine diet and routine activities. Do you find that you are not feeding your pup enough lately? Or you are not doing the daily activities you used to do? Try to stick to the normal routine with your pup. You can even try enhancing their daily diet if your pup is bored with current diet plan. Buy new food items for your pooch and engage in new activities. You can add some tasty treats to diet.

Make sure you plan your pup’s diet to contain all the nutritional value like Origen original dog food for rich nutritional values. Try to understand the reason behind stress. Dog’s can’t speak but you might be able to guess the reason if you are close buddies. Try doing the things he enjoyed. You can try taking your pooch to a new place for a walk or letting them socialize to new dog friends.
