I think it’s odd how people are up that “Oswald the lucky rabbit was a Disney character that got away due to big bad universal”

My guy, Walt made micky to replace Oswald, he could have bought the rights back in the 60s, but he didn’t .

Also Oswald was made FOR universal. Don’t get it twisted.

Also modern Disney I think only owns the design from the Disney made shorts, not any of his other designs.

Like Oswald is more associated I would say with woody the woodpecker then with micky.

Heck it was only epic micky when the 2 met. Pete’s the only character that knew both.

Like the boy looked closer to Buggs bunny by the end then micky. But then Disney gave over the rights

Woody the Woodpecker

Synopsis:

Woody Woodpecker is an animated character that appeared in theatrical short films produced by the Walter Lantz Studio and distributed by Universal Pictures between 1940 and 1972.

Woody Woodpecker cartoons were first broadcast on television in 1957 under the title The Woody Woodpecker Show. The character has been revived since then for The New Woody Woodpecker Show, that aired from 1999 to 2002. In 2017, a live-action/CGI hybrid feature film, titled simply Woody Woodpecker was released. That was followed by a new series of shorts released via YouTube beginning in 2018.

My Reasoning/Rating:

5/10

Okay look, I'll be honest. I don't think that there is anything super spectacular about Woody the Woodpecker. It's a basic cartoon show with a titular character that acts goofy and crazy and it has very much the same vibe as Looney Tunes or other shows like it.

However, I very much enjoyed watching those types of shows as a kid. In fact, I still very much enjoy watching them as an adult as well. There's just something quite refreshing to the brain when watching a show that doesn't involve a lot of plot to think about and just has a very simple format.

I think it's a show that everyone should at least watch once, if for no other reason than it being a classic that has stuck around for such a long time.
