starting next month I’m gonna be a blacksmith apprentice! :D I am thankfully starting super small - like, hammering very small things that someone else is holding - and I think that’s great. I took one (1) semester of woodshop in middle school, which remains the best class I’ve ever taken, and the main thing I learned from that is that there are so many ways to accidentally maim yourself. Haha. So I’m excite that these specific blacksmiths are keen on safety. They’re all hella nice and welcoming too. SO THAT’S FUN!

Meet my yuusona! original post

1. Name: Emery Sutton, some friends call her Em, Cater and Kalim call her Emmie, same nickname Floyd and Rook has for mc

2. Inspiration: None initially but she does remind me a little of Ariel and Ursula's human forms I might draw her in their dresses omg!!!

3. Age/Birthday: Since she's a freshman I just had her be 16 like the rest of them and she is a Scorpio born on October 24th (my bday :3) Treys birthday is closest.. literally the day after. Two parties in a row though that's fun!!

4. Dorm: She's in Ramshackle!!! Her and Grim had trouble with the ghosts at first but like canon, they eventually warmed up to each other and she has a lot of respect for them as people who have died. Her relationship with the ghosts is symbiotic in a way, they serve as security cameras and watch out for her and she takes care of and restores their home. Having to clean up Ramshackle made her learn a lot of skills and she could probably replace the roof herself. She also got really into interior design and woodshop so Ramshackle is definitely really pretty with her as prefect.

5. Class: Her and Grim are in the same class as Ace and Deuce and when they're not all goofing around, they can lock in pretty well and get work done. She always takes detailed notes in class solely because she can make the others buy them from her with snacks if they miss class or weren't paying attention.

6. Height: She's about 5'3 and is between Riddle and Kalim in height.

7. Hair/Eye color: Her hair is dark brown but sometimes I can't decide and make it medium brown. Her eyes are a deep blue and around her pupil, she has a sort of ring around it that's darker.

8. Homeland: Like mc, she's not from Twisted Wonderland but is in fact a Cali girl.

9. Club: I literally cannot decide what club she is in.. at first, I thought maybe the light music club so she can sing all my favorite songs but now idk, maybe she just has her own thing but I think she definitely pops in to hang out with other clubs when she's bored. She cant be tied down!!!

10. Subject: Her favorite and best subject is astrology because that's one of my special interests.. but she's also probably really enjoys history of magic too and flight class. Her and Cater definitely geek out about astrology.

11. Hobby: She really likes painting or just making little trinkets and jewelry. Everyone she's ever talked to has a friendship bracelet from her or like those string of beads you hang on your wall with a crystal at the end. She also really enjoys making snacks with Trey.

12. Pet Peeves: People walking slow in front of her and she HATES snoring and other obnoxious sounds. If you're at a sleepover with her and snore... expect to never wake up ever again, she will suffocate you with a pillow (/j). Grim is lucky he doesn't snore too bad or he would be sleeping outside. But Deuce on the other hand.. she makes him sleep in the farthest room from hers and puts a towel under his door.

13. Food: her favorite food is any kind of noodle and just in general Italian food. She really likes gnocchi and bread and yummy warm filling stuff. She doesn't care for steamed vegetables, especially asparagus and prefers them fresh.

14. Talent: She's actually a really seasoned oil painter and loves doing portraits!! She's not so good at painting landscape but that's something she's started practicing more often. Rook and Malleus probably appreciate her work the most and often ask to see what she's working on lately. Azul commissioned her to paint a whale for monstro lounge and wanted to ask her to paint him all cool and evil but was too embarrassed.

15. Unique Magic/Signature spell: Since she's yuu, she doesn't have magic but she is maybe a teensy bit psychic whether she realizes it or not. She has the prophetic dreams, is really intuitive and she can in some ways command other people telepathically if she's determined enough, like if she thinks "GET YOUR BIG HEAD OUT OF MY WAY I CANT SEE" and they get the sense to move over a little bit.

17. Personality: Pam Beasley. She can be kinda shy and awkward and not talk so much or she can be really outgoing and a chatterbox and like making people laugh. When she's warmed up, she'll be quick to witty retorts and teasing but most people's first impression of her is that she's a little timid unless her friends are giving her confidence. She loves working with Ace to pull clever pranks on Grim and Deuce and Sebek. When she's upset or angry though, she can be really firm and serious and maybe a little passive aggressive. Generally really friendly and generous and likes having fun. She's maybe in the middle of Lilia and Kalim personality wise.

19: Favorite Housewarden: if she had to pick, her favorite housewarden would probably be Riddle just because they're the closest as friends and she really appreciates and admires his improvement as a person. They have tea at Ramshackle almost every week and just hang out #besties!!

20: Partner: FLOYD FRICKING LEECH!!! they met how canon mc and he did and started dating sometime after book 4. She likes the excitement he gives her and how cute and smart he is and how awesome he is and how sweet he is when he's nice, and he likes how resilient and caring she is and that she laughs and matches his energy instead of avoiding him. They're best friends that are practically engaged because things would be so boring if they broke up. Fit together like eels and shrimps. They're literally Johnny and Baby from Dirty Dancing.

Dude Is Happy

Week #7 Prompt: Laugh | Word Count: 1010 | Rating: T | POV: Jonathan | Characters: Jonathan, Argyle | Pairings: Platonic Jargyle and/or Pre-Jargyle, Jancy (Off-Screen) | CW: Recreational Drug Use (Weed) | Tags: Pre-S4, Jonathan's First Day of School in CA, Meeting Argyle

The first thing he hears is the laugh. It's distinct, and so joyful, seemingly amused with something, life maybe, that Jonathan looks around the woodshop class trying to find the guy it's coming out of, but has no luck.

The shop isn't set up in a way where he can see everyone else at all times, so now he just has to imagine what could possibly be making anyone that happy at school.

Jonathan's not sure he's ever sounded that happy.

Starting a new school during his senior year wasn't exactly his idea of a good time, but he understood why they needed to leave Hawkins. Why Will, why El, why his mom couldn't be there now. After losing Hopper, and everything else that has happened, over and over, that staying behind for Nancy wasn't a reasonable ask.

So, he didn't ask. 

He packed up everything he owned, from the only home he'd ever known, and went with the flow, because that was the path of least resistance.

Now, he's here. In a new state. A new school. The new kid as a senior is a rough place in the social hierarchy. Not that he's ever cared much about that. Be quiet, keep his head down. It's worked for him so far in his seventeen years.

He's aware he's always been a bit of a loner, and he doesn't really have an issue with that continuing here. Yeah, he's got the Upside Down crew, all that shared trauma with those in the know. Will's friends. Nancy, and Steve. The new girl, Robin. But it's not like they're all that close. Steve tolerates him now, but Jonathan wouldn't exactly call him his friend. Not with Nancy forever between them.

They're just half-assed acquaintances because they've both found themselves thrust together due to the weirdness of Hawkins.

He can keep to himself, not bother anyone and hope that nobody bothers him.

But there's that laugh again, and he's curious. So, Jonathan gets up and walks through the woodshop, looking for the source of that kind of happiness. 

He finds it. 

A boy with long, long hair under a brightly colored hat, is tossing his head back, laughing at seemingly nothing at all. Nobody else around.

Well, at least this dude is happy. Or insane. But Jonathan's banking on happy, because he looks happy, not crazy.

"Can I sit?" Jonathan asks, impulsively out of character, and the guy looks in his direction, kinda glassy-eye.

Oh. Not crazy. Stoned.

And Jonathan smiles, ever so slightly.

"Of course, brochacho," he says, clearing off the table in front of the empty chair. "Are you new here in this fine school? I haven't seen you in this class before."

Jonathan nods.

"Well, welcome to Lenora Hills. I'm Argyle and I'll be your tour guide."

"Jonathan," Jonathan says, returning the favor of introducing himself. 

Jonathan isn't sure he needs a tour guide, but this stoner might be the best case scenario if he has to have one.

"Do you…partake?" Argyle asks, dropping his voice to a whisper, putting his pinched forefinger and thumb to his lips, and Jonathan isn't sure how to respond. He's not opposed, but it's not like that's something he's been doing with Nancy. There was an incredibly weird hang with Steve, both sore and bruised, and not by each other for once, where Steve produced a joint and Jonathan definitely didn't say no. 

"Sometimes," Jonathan settles on, "why, you offering?" 

Argyle laughs that laugh, and Jonathan wants to hear it more. It's so happy, light, a refreshing change after the past couple years that haven't been all that happy, even after the dust had settled. 

"My dude, of course. I have all the best strains. I can rock your world."

"I'll hold you to that," Jonathan says, and then the teacher comes in and the discussion is tabled for another day.

Jonathan blows out another lungful of smoke, and is sure with everything that he is, that Argyle told no lies. This is the best thing he's ever smoked, and he can barely keep his eyes open. He definitely never had a weed hookup this good in Hawkins. Whatever Eddie Munson was selling behind the school isn't anywhere near this league. Holy shit.

Argyle laughs again, and it's just as funny, just as endearing, as it was at school.

"Anybody ever told you that you have a good laugh?" Jonathan asks, eyes half-lidded. He can't see much of Argyle, but he can definitely hear him. 

"All the time," Argyle answers, "but I still appreciate the compliment, my dude."

Jonathan nods. He's pretty sure he has a new best friend. 

It's been a long time since he's had one of those, he realizes. Not since he was a kid, maybe, unless Nancy counts, and he thinks she doesn't. Not really. She's his girlfriend, a friend-friend would be different. 

At least he thinks so. Maybe. It's been a while, so he can't be totally sure.

"Like?" Argyle asks, and Jonathan nods, the only thing he thinks he can do at this point. His eyelids feel like they weigh a thousand pounds, in the very best way. He leans back in the seat of the yellow van, and relaxes, melting into the beaded seat cover. "This is Pineapple Express. And pineapple is always recommended. Both for smoking and for pizza."

"Oooh, pizza sounds good," Jonathan says.

"Then you're in luck, I happen to work at California's premiere pizza establishment," Argyle insists, patting the dash of the van.

"No way," Jonathan says, eyes falling back closed.

"Way," Argyle answers, "Where'd you come from anyway?"

"Indiana," Jonathan answers. 

"Right on," Argyle says, "Well, welcome to California. Stick with me, and I'll show you our ways. I think you'll like it here."

Jonathan really hopes that's true. Yeah, there's no Nancy, but there's also no responsibility stuck on him to save the world, either. Maybe he can just…be. Hang out. Eat some pizza. Smoke a little grass.

Have some fun.

Hell, maybe he'll even learn to laugh, just like Argyle.

Notes: Going back and looking at show clips, I'm not sure that Argyle even has the laugh I remembered him having. But Eduardo Franco most definitely does in real life. So, let's go with it. (not sure why I of all people am being asked this but you know what slay)

Of course it all depends on highschools and stuff, electives differ from place to place. I will say, my school had a few electives surrounding the study of media, (news and film mostly), those are helpful because while literally analysis is good, knowing how to analysis what you see on television and on the news I think it more applicable to the average person. Personal financing is another good one if your school offers that, and normally it's a business credit or something like that. I didn't take it, but I wish I did lol.

This is more science-y but if your school offers anything like botany, natural resources, etc. Take it. It's fun, plants are all around us, they are good to know about. Take creative writing if you like writing, seriously, it's stupid sometimes, but man, it felt freeing in some ways. If you aren't a very creative person though, and are thinking about taking creative writing for an easy credit, don't. I watched too many people do that, and then get screwed over lol.

Any cooking class possible. Please.

WOODSHOP! Not all highschools have this, but mine did I regret that I didn't take the official class everyday. I ended up befriended the woodworking teacher because he was friends with my latin teacher and would visit our class, and he helped me with a lot of skills I still use today. Most of them have saved me money, as I now thrift most of my wood furniture and fix it up instead. Also, dude helped me make my first frame.

I know languages are hard for some people, and I know some places they are required credits and others elective, but if you can, take it. If you struggle pronouncing words, take latin, no one can correct you on how to pronounce a dead language.

Omg this got me thinking

Gonna start right off the by saying Griffin is incredibly flexible. Like he’s such a silly little guy he can do THE backbend and he can move while doing it. He’s a really good gymnast! :) Painting and drawing is one of his greatest strong suits. He’s also pretty advanced at playing the piano. (Geez Griffin has a lot of talents actually .) He’s also good at knitting and crocheting.

I feel like Billy would actually be like GREAT at acting he’d love theatre and stuff like that. He’s also great at origami I think someone made a hc about that and I LOVED it it’s so real for him. He’s also like. AMAZING at calligraphy. His handwriting is incredibly neat. He’s also good at juggling, for some reason!

Vance’s talent is that he’s just really handy. He’s good at fixing mechanical issues. That’s all I can think of. He USED to hide the fact he was good at cooking until Griffin told the others because he likes talking about things Vance is good at!

I think Finney’s talent is that he’s able to do that thing where he throws his voice so it sounds like it’s coming from somewhere else. He’s also strangely good at navigating even if it’s near impossible to tell where he is. Another skill I think he’d be really good at is archery. His shots are always dead on the target. (Robin is whipped seeing him practice)

Robin is actually really good at pottery. He would LOVEEE pottery and ceramic units in art classes at school like his projects come out the best. Robin also likes figure skating. He actually would be good at it, I feel like. Like it’s something he thought he would suck at but ended up being like a natural. Finney comes with him sometimes, and he always compliments Robin at his talent.

Bruce is the type of guy to just show off his talent for skipping stones. He gets a LOT of good shots and his skipping stones almost never sink. He also takes woodshop in school, which he is actually really great at. He would LOVE woodworking. He likes making birdhouses, and he liked the unit where they made tiny wooden cars. He made two, and gifted them to Billy and Griffin!

Donna is good at singing guys, I’m calling it. She’s in her school’s choir, and she loves it. I feel like she’d also do ballet or any form of dance like ballet. She’d be very graceful. She also feels even better about it when she sees her family at her concerts and recitals. I feel like she’d also be like the type to just be good at debating without even trying that much. She’s a quick thinker.

Gwen would be good at making jewelry. She makes a lot of bracelets, rings, necklaces, and things like that in her spare time. She once made another choker for Vance! Gwen would also be great at swimming, in my opinion. She picks it up when she’s in 8th grade, and Finney and Terrence come to all of her swim meets. Her times are always really good.

Amy’s favorite talent of hers is roller skating. She goes to the skate part a lot to practice. She knows a lot of tricks, but not just on roller skates. She has a scooter, and she LOVES that thing. She can do a lot of cool things with that. Amy is also good at blackmailing. Not like seriously, but she makes the others buy her silence with candy and barbies if she has some funny dirt on them. She’s also REALLY good at puzzles!

WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU CRIED?: I cried last week, I have big feelings I don’t always know what to do with. You know how it is.

DO YOU HAVE KIDS?: No, I don’t. But I would like to adopt or foster one day. That’s a big goal of mine.

WHAT SPORTS DO YOU PLAY/ HAVE YOU PLAYED?: I love badminton a lot! Tennis too. I am not a coordinated person so I enjoy playing with all my limbs in any attempt to actually hit something.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES?: I enjoy woodworking, painting and other half assed things I’ve picked up over the years that semi resemble some sort of craft. I have a billion and one ideas and about half as many projects to complete because I have to try everything and struggle to finish one of them. I love dabbling in anything that you can do with your hands and looks something like art. Also, I love collecting Star Wars toys because I’m a giant child. ‘99 was the best year ♥️

DO YOU HAVE ANY PETS?: I don’t have any pets of my own currently, no. But I’ve always lived and grown up with cats, and I love them a lot. I had a pug once and he was always so fun.

HOW TALL ARE YOU?: 5’5.

FAVORITE SUBJECT IN SCHOOL?: I had a lot, but for sure marine biology. Such a fantastic class and had some great opportunities thereafter. Very involved and hands on and living off the Puget Sound just made it that much better. I took four years of woodshop then as well, and that had a massive impact on me too that I won’t soon forget. I did break two fingers then and that was quite something!

DREAM JOB?: I’m one of those people that is constantly changing their “dream job”. Maybe that’s only natural as we get older, I don’t know! Once it was being a film editor, then it was a marine biologist, then I wanted to be a furniture designer and maker, then I thought I’d be a school counselor. So you know, just give me 15 minutes and I’m sure I’ll think of something else to do in the world!! Hahaha 😆

Do you ever have days where you just don’t do anything? That's...what I look for in my weekends now, pretty much. I'm so busy wringing out 115% of my brain during the workweek that when Friday evening rolls around I'm just too mentally exhausted to even think about making plans. Sometimes I'll see friends, but even then I prefer to just hang out at someone's house or mine. In any case, I've taught myself that rest is also productive - so I no longer feel guilty about spending my weekends couch-rotting away.

Have you ever experienced something paranormal? No but it's also because I don't seriously believe in it. I like hearing stories and seeing how creepy people's POVs can get, but gun to my head I don't believe in the whole concept.

What’s the longest amount of time you’ve been stuck in traffic? This is a hilarious question tbh because in the Philippines, everywhere is traffic and it's impossible to gauge my worst record. I just face it everyday. Idk. Maybe the time I tried going to Leni's thanksgiving rally when she lost the elections? For a drive that'd usually take 30-45 minutes, I got to the Katipunan area only after 5 hours. Everyone else and their mothers were headed to the same rally, hence the traffic.

I missed the entire thing so to cheer me up, my friends asked if I was up to go to a bar since it had been a Friday evening anyway.

What museums have you visited, if any? Too many to count. I like museums. I've gone to most, if not all of the ones within Metro Manila + I also make it a point to visit at least 1 museum in my local and international trips.

Have you ever dealt with noisy neighbors or roommates? How did that go? Yes the house behind us has like 1000 fucking kids who do nothing but cry. I've pretty much memorized the way each kid's cry sounds at this point. Filipinos are non-confrontational lmao so the most I've gone is to just furiously bang my window in their direction as a way to tell them to shut up. One time my mom directly went to them and asked them to tone it down, but it fell on deaf ears so it's just pointless.

Have you ever taken a woodshop class? No.

What area of math are you best at? Worst? Fractions and advanced algebra. Statistics can also be on the easy side so long as you have the formulas memorized.

Geometry, trigonometry, and calculus were without a doubt my worst. I barely passed a single exam in high school and I'm still of the theory that my teachers probably just passed me out of pity so that I don't need to take summer classes, lol.

How do you feel when you meet someone with the same music taste as you? It makes me feel good and warm and fuzzy! Specific to my ~fanbase, and K-pop as a whole, Armys traditionally stick up and watch out for one another so it's always nice seeing them out in the wild. Just a couple months back when Jungkook's documentary was in theatres, I instinctively offered my snacks to the fans in front of me even though we didn't know each other ahaha.

Do you believe in luck? Why or why not? Not the good kind. But I do hold a certain level of belief in bad luck because I always seem to hoard it.

Do you ever feel self-conscious when you eat around other people? The only time this happens is if I go to uncommon cuisine-specific restaurants and feel like locals' eyes are on me and judging the way I eat their food. Like earlier; I was at an authentic Korean place and got kongguksu and samgyupsal – two meals that DO NOT go together and Koreans never eat together, lol. But I wanted to try kongguksu and I was craving samgyupsal so I got both. I ended up just avoiding the eyes of the native Koreans who came in to eat there HAHAHA

Have you ever considered going to art school? Not art school but close – I applied for art management in Ateneo, since I had dreams of being a museum curator. I passed the exam, but since I had already also passed UPD at that point, I had to let it go. UP was my prio anyway by an infinitely larger margin.

Is there anyone in your life who consistently angers you? Yes, my closest cousin's dad. Aka my mom's brother/my uncle.

Have you ever had problems falling asleep in class? Never.

Are your parents supportive of you? They are but they are also the practical/realistic kind of supportive. Badly put, if I had dreams to go to an expensive school or travel abroad, they'd cheer me on but they wouldn't give up an arm and a leg to make it happen for me; and they'd also be the first to tell me no, we can't afford it – which I understand and respect.

She is a Doug Dwarf endgame. Bit akward and quiet, which is why she gets along great with Jane Godmother at first until their paths kind split and she starts hanging out with Prue Woods instead. Mrs Potts is really involved in her life, almost a bit too much from time to time, but she gets along great with her older brother Chip. She and Doug first meet when Collette takes over guard duties for council meetings and they get to talking as they walk out of the conference room. Doug accidentally spills some of his soda on her and Collette elbows him in the face on accident as she's trying to clean herself off and from then on they're two lovebirds in the making. Her favorite classes are Home Ec, English, French, and Belle's Book Club. She's a really soft-spoken, clumsy, homemaker type of girl. Born to be a mother. She dresses to impress always. She wears the chicest pink dresses and two pieces, is a bit obsessed with ruffles and florals. When she's not wearing some kind of heel (she loves the clackidy sound they make), she will wear those high strap sandals that Romans used to wear. Her best friend in Auradon is Robin Hood's youngest daughter Renee. Rosalie is an Evie endgame. She learned how to work with plants and her passion for fashion from her mommy.

Robin Hood's middle daughter. She is sort of an intern in the King's Guard and in line to take a spot in it once she graduates. She's Sporty Spice, usually always dressed in something comfy (corsets are comfy to her), has a green and brown motif to her, earthy colors, is the only person in the world besides her dad who can pull fedoras off. She loves archery, climbing, and is a fantastic tracker, she could hold a candle to Petra with her abilities. Her best friend is Lonnie, they bond over having to uphold their parents honor and eventually over other things too. Reese is a Mal endgame because together, they are literally unstoppable.
