These Traeger Wood Fired Grill smoked burgers are packed with smoky flavor and topped with cheddar cheese, making them the perfect addition to your BBQ menu. The low and slow smoking process ensures a juicy and flavorful burger that your family and friends will love.
Ingredients: 1.5 pounds ground beef. 1/2 cup breadcrumbs. 1/4 cup diced onions. 1/4 cup diced pickles. 1/4 cup BBQ sauce. 1 teaspoon salt. 1/2 teaspoon black pepper. 4 hamburger buns. 4 slices cheddar cheese. Lettuce leaves. Tomato slices. Red onion slices.
Instructions: For a smoky taste, heat your Traeger Wood Fired Grill to 225F 107C with hickory or mesquite wood pellets. Put the ground beef, breadcrumbs, diced onions, diced pickles, BBQ sauce, salt, and black pepper in a bowl. Make sure to mix the ingredients well so that they are spread out evenly. Split the mixture in half and shape each half into a burger patty. The Traeger grill grates should already be hot. Place the burger patties on them and close the lid. For about 45 minutes to an hour, or until the burgers reach 160F 71C on the inside, smoke them and flip them over halfway through the cooking time. As the burgers are cooking for the last five minutes, add a slice of cheddar cheese to each one and let it melt. While the burgers are smoking, put the buns on the grill and toast them little until they turn golden brown. To make the smoked burgers, put a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, then a tomato slice, and finally a red onion slice. Put the smoked burger patty on top of the vegetables. Top it with melted cheddar cheese. To taste, add any extra BBQ sauce or toppings. The BBQ Smoked Burgers are now ready to be eaten! Just put the other half of the toasted bun on top.

If you want something a bit more festive (and certainly more delicious) for the holiday, we’ve got a Jalapeno Poppers recipe. What’s the secret to this recipe (other than just the grilling pellets?) Cream cheese, cheddar cheese, and bacon (as well as, of course, Knotty Rub) make for a popper that will help just about any gathering to “pop off.”

That said, do you want to use your pellet grill to make hot wings that really are “hot?” If so, have we got a recipe for you. Our “Hot Honey Wings” recipe provides the best of all worlds there.
For starters, while many of our recipes can best be enjoyed with any of our pellets, for these particular wings, we do recommend that you use the Plummond Competition Blend pellets. That has the flavor profile that really can elevate these wings (at the risk of a pun).
Beyond that, our honey can help these wings to be what they should be, especially when you use the right amounts of quality curry, cayenne powder, black pepper, white vinegar, and of course, Knotty Rub.
Pork Sliders to Slide On Into the Night The pork slider is one of those genuinely perfect 4th of July foods. You may not want a burger, you may just want something less filling. Additionally, if you want to eat more, since they’re sliders, you can have another.
These pork sliders in our recipes are best paired with the Plum wood pellets. We always look to offer as much as possible, we also provide a recipe here for the glaze as well.
Best Grilling Pellets All Year Long The pellets above are on sale from the 27th through the 3rd and those recipes are great for the 4th of July. However, it’s not like there’s a day of the year when jalapeno poppers, honey hot wings, and pork sliders will be anything other than delicious. Mastering the Art of Outdoor Cooking: Choosing the Perfect BBQ Grill
Tumblr media
Outdoor cooking is a beloved pastime, and the heart of this experience is the BBQ grill. Whether you're hosting a summer barbecue, tailgating, or enjoying a quiet evening in your backyard, a quality BBQ grill can elevate your outdoor cooking game, delivering delicious meals and unforgettable memories.
Types of BBQ Grills
When choosing a BBQ grill, it's important to consider the different types available, each offering unique benefits:
Charcoal Grills: Known for delivering that classic smoky flavor, charcoal grills are favored by traditionalists. They require more time and effort to heat up, but the reward is the rich, authentic taste that only charcoal can provide. These grills are perfect for those who enjoy the ritual of building a fire and tending to it while cooking.
Gas Grills: If convenience is key, a gas grill is an excellent choice. These grills heat up quickly and allow precise temperature control with the turn of a knob. Gas grills are ideal for cooking everything from steaks and burgers to vegetables and seafood. They are also easy to clean, making them a practical option for frequent use.
Electric Grills: Perfect for those with limited outdoor space, electric grills offer a smokeless alternative that's easy to use and maintain. While they might not deliver the same smoky flavor as charcoal or gas grills, they are convenient and versatile, making them suitable for apartment balconies or small patios.
Pellet Grills: For those who want the best of both worlds, pellet grills offer the flavor of wood-smoked cooking with the convenience of gas. These grills use wood pellets to generate heat and smoke, providing a rich, smoky flavor to your food. They often come with digital controls for easy temperature management.Features to Consider
When selecting a BBQ grill, consider the following features:
Size and Cooking Area: Ensure the grill has enough space to accommodate your typical cooking needs, whether you're grilling for a small family or a large group.
Material and Durability: Look for grills made from high-quality materials like stainless steel or cast iron, which can withstand the elements and provide even cooking.
Additional Features: Some grills come with side burners, warming racks, or storage shelves, adding convenience and versatility to your cooking experience.
Enhancing Your Outdoor Cooking Experience
A quality BBQ grill can transform your outdoor space into a culinary haven. Whether you're searing a steak to perfection, smoking ribs for hours, or simply grilling vegetables for a healthy side dish, the right grill makes all the difference. By choosing a grill that fits your cooking style and needs, you'll be ready to impress your family and friends with delicious, expertly cooked meals.
In conclusion, investing in a BBQ grill tailored to your outdoor cooking preferences ensures that every cookout is a success. With the right tools, you can master the art of grilling and enjoy countless outdoor feasts for years to come.

How to Smoke Texas Brisket on a Traeger Grill?
Smoking a Texas brisket is an art form that requires patience, precision, and a passion for great barbecue. When done right, it results in tender, flavorful meat with a smoky crust that’s hard to resist. While traditional Texas pitmasters rely on offset smokers, modern BBQ enthusiasts can achieve equally impressive results using a Traeger grill. You’ll learn how to smoke a Texas brisket on a Traeger grill in this guide, from choosing the right cut to serving the perfect slice.
Tumblr media
1. Selecting the Right Brisket The foundation of a great Texas brisket is choosing the right piece of meat. Look for a whole packer brisket, which includes both the flat and point muscles. This cut usually weighs between 10 to 16 pounds. When selecting your brisket:
Marbling: Choose a brisket with good marbling, as the fat will render during cooking and keep the meat juicy and flavorful. Grade: USDA Prime is ideal for its higher fat content, but USDA Choice also works well. Avoid briskets labeled as Select, as they may be too lean.
2. Preparing the Brisket Proper preparation is crucial to ensure even cooking and optimal flavor. Start by trimming the brisket:
Fat Cap: Leave about 1/4 inch of the fat cap on the brisket. This layer of fat will help protect the meat during the long cooking process and add flavor. Silver Skin: Trim away any silver skin or tough connective tissue on the surface of the brisket, as it doesn’t render well during smoking. Next, season the brisket with a classic Texas-style rub:
Ingredients: Use a simple mix of kosher salt and coarse black pepper, often referred to as “Dalmatian rub.” For additional flavor, you can add garlic powder, onion powder, and a hint of paprika.
Application: Generously apply the rub to all sides of the brisket, ensuring it’s evenly coated. Let the brisket sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to allow the rub to adhere.
3. Setting Up Your Traeger Grill The Traeger grill is known for its ease of use and consistent temperature control, making it perfect for smoking brisket. Here’s how to set it up:
Wood Pellets: Choose hardwood pellets for a robust smoke flavor. Traditionalists often use oak or mesquite for Texas brisket, but hickory or a blend of hardwoods also work well.
Temperature: Preheat your Traeger grill to 225°F. This low-and-slow temperature is key to breaking down the tough connective tissues in the brisket, resulting in tender meat.
Smoke Control: Set your Traeger to the “Super Smoke” setting if accessible. This function enhances the smoke flavor during the initial phase of cooking.
4. Smoking the Brisket Now that your barbecue is prepared, now is the right time to begin smoking:
Placement: Place the brisket fat-side up directly on the grill grates. This allows the fat to render down through the meat, basting it as it cooks. Initial Smoke: Smoke the brisket at 225°F for 6–8 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 160–165°F. During this stage, the meat will encourage a wonderful bark and hold the smoky flavor.
Tumblr media
5. Wrapping the Brisket Once the brisket reaches an internal temperature of 160–165°F, it’s time to wrap it. This step is known as the “Texas Crutch” and helps to retain moisture and speed up the cooking process.
Wrap Type: Use either butcher paper or aluminum foil. Butcher paper allows the brisket to breathe slightly, maintaining a crispy bark, while foil locks in moisture for a softer bark.
Wrapping Technique: Wrap the brisket tightly to avoid any leaks and return it to the grill, fat-side down this time.
6. Finishing the Cook Continue cooking the brisket until it reaches an internal temperature of 195–205°F. This can take another 4–6 hours. The exact time may vary depending on the size of the brisket and your grill’s consistency.
Checking for Doneness: Utilize a meat thermometer to really look at the inward temperature. Additionally, test for doneness by inserting the probe; it should slide in and out of the meat with little resistance, similar to butter.
Resting: Once done, remove the brisket from the grill and let it rest, still wrapped, for at least an hour. Each bite is guaranteed to be juicy by allowing the juices to redistribute throughout the meat during rest.
7. Slicing and Serving When ready to serve, unwrap the brisket and place it on a cutting board:
Slicing Technique: Start by separating the point from the flat along the natural seam of fat. Cut the level contrary to what would be expected into 1/4-inch thick cuts. The point, which is fattier, can be sliced or chopped depending on your preference.
Serving: Serve the brisket with classic Texas sides like pickles, onions, white bread, and barbecue sauce. Enjoy the fruits of your labor!
Conclusion Smoking a Texas brisket on a Traeger grill combines the best of tradition with modern convenience. By following these steps, you’ll be able to achieve a tender, flavorful brisket that rivals the best pitmasters. For more BBQ tips, recipes, and inspiration, visit Rogue Cookers.

Unlocking the Flavor: Why Pellet Grills Are a Game Changer
When it comes to outdoor cooking, enthusiasts are always on the lookout for ways to elevate their culinary adventures. Enter the pellet grill — a versatile and innovative cooking device that has been revolutionizing backyard BBQs and outdoor kitchens alike.
Tumblr media
What is a Pellet Grill?
A pellet grill combines elements of a smoker, BBQ grill, and oven into one ingenious piece of equipment. It operates by using wood pellets as fuel, which are automatically fed into a firepot by an electric auger. This results in a consistent and controlled heat source, allowing for precise temperature regulation. The wood pellets come in various flavors such as hickory, mesquite, applewood, and more, imparting distinct smoky flavors to your food.
Key Benefits of Pellet Grills:
1. Versatility: From smoking brisket low and slow to searing steaks at high temperatures, pellet grills offer a wide range of cooking options. They can bake, roast, smoke, grill, and even braise, making them a versatile choice for any outdoor cooking enthusiast.
2. Ease of Use: Pellet grills are known for their user-friendly operation. Many models come with digital controllers that allow you to set the desired temperature and walk away, as the grill maintains consistent heat throughout the cooking process. This makes them ideal for both beginners and seasoned grill masters alike.
3. Flavor Infusion: The use of wood pellets adds a rich and authentic smoky flavor to your food that charcoal and gas grills simply can't replicate. Whether you're cooking burgers, ribs, vegetables, or even desserts, the infusion of natural wood smoke enhances the taste and aroma of every dish.
4. Efficiency: Pellet grills are designed to be efficient with their fuel consumption. The pellets are densely packed and burn cleanly, producing minimal ash. Many models also have hopper capacities that can last for hours or even days of continuous cooking, depending on the size and temperature settings.
5. Consistency: One of the standout features of pellet grills is their ability to maintain consistent temperatures. This ensures that your food cooks evenly without the need for constant monitoring and adjustments, allowing you to achieve perfect results every time.
Choosing the Right Pellet Grill
When selecting a pellet grill, consider factors such as cooking area size, hopper capacity, temperature range, build quality, and additional features like Wi-Fi connectivity for remote monitoring. Brands like Traeger, Camp Chef, Pit Boss, and Green Mountain Grills offer a variety of models to suit different needs and budgets.
Final Thoughts
Whether you're a backyard BBQ enthusiast, a passionate griller, or someone who loves experimenting with different cooking techniques, a pellet grill can take your outdoor cooking to the next level. With their versatility, ease of use, and ability to enhance flavor, pellet grills have earned their place as a must-have tool for any outdoor kitchen.
