Sins & Flowers
our bodies are still in solitude; flowering we were once each other - confused red, purple, blue
smoldering ourselves in the horizon laying weak, breathing - fearsome my freedom smokes the sky a parade of fire; thundering trumpets clamorous sounds beating through my roots with love sick breathing red rose skies engulfed in our bodies made of toxins; make me love sick for peace; between us two worlds burning - we love in visceral gratitude - like a menace; with roses at out feet - voices in tulips

As a school project for my womens lit class, we’ve been asked to start blogs on various websites and to make at least a post a day.
Hash tagged accordingly, speaking about our lives and what not.
I don’t expect this to find many people, and I really don’t know how to use Tumblr, but this felt the easiest.
Please understand that none of these posts are in correct grammar, and never will be. I also cant be bothered with misspelling.
The first post assigned to us was an introduction post, so here I am. Introducing.
My nicknames are simsim and samoona, thats probably what i’ll continue to call myself by.
In arabic, simsim means sesame seed. And samoona is a type of bread. I will put a photo for reference
Similar to any sort of flat bread from the middle east, this one is specifically from Iraq (as am I haha), it’s filled with steam right out of the oven. I recommend with jam and butter while it’s still hot. Or, if you’re really going for authenticity, “Puck cheese”.
I am a freshman in college, freshly 18. I’m studying to be a lawyer, my dream would be to do linguistics but i am unfortunately not rich and need ro do something I know will make money.
Law seems good enough.
Plus, I like the idea of doing human rights or immigration law.
For now, i’m a polisci major and unfortunately only have one class that has anything to do with law.
I love clothes, though I don’t usually dress how I like because I am a broke.
I like Matcha and growing my hair long, makeup, my cat, reading and writing.
I draw almost every day, and I’m currently writing a childrens book that I will most likely post about here.

Nina Stibbe Examines The True Meaning of Friendship
When I read three books in a row by the same author, then you can be assured I love her writing. After reading and reviewing her two diary-styled non-fiction books a couple of weeks ago (Went to London, Took The Dog and Love, Nina) I went looking for other books by Nina Stibbe and came upon the fictional One Day I Shall Astonish The World. The title is the motto for the British university where…

I wear Grey on my face like a morning.
He left me standing on the corner
Waiting on a moment for myself; To find myself out of the lost streets
The lost feet I stand still in; I still even further in the moment
For a harmony in the violence; For the harm in his voice
Guides me down these streets; Holds me to my feet

Whoa what is this - a book related post? I confess, this was for a class but hey, at least I read a book. 🙉 °°° Trying to set up a schedule of some sort for all the bookish platforms so I'm not so MIA all the time. If only we could have a couple more hours in the day...then maybe I'll have enough time to do everything and get enough sleep. °°° #bookstagram #herland #charlotteperkinsgilman #3stars #books #womenslit #college #reading https://www.instagram.com/p/BuG-gxlHM3J/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=venx6stfade3

💬 "... what is true and what is thought to be true can run side by side, not meeting, staying just ahead of the creeping shadow... But sometimes the silence can be pitiless..." 📚 The Book Stack - September BOM 📘 The Proxy Bride ✒️ Zoe Boccabella 🌶 D.N.F 🌶 Disclaimer: due completely to personal preference I'm keen to find out more about proxy brides back in the days so I thought this will be an interesting read. I was actually enjoying it quite a lot until [around p130] where it transpires that... ****SPOILER**** ****SPOILER**** ****SPOILER**** ****SPOILER**** the characters who fell in [insta] love with each other are married to others... 😒 I'm on holidays and am not keen to explore this one any further so gave it to my friend to read. I believe it's in good hands 🤗 Thank you The Book Stack (bookclub on Facebook) for gifting me a copy of this book. I’ve always said that poetry and visual art go hand in hand in delivering the feels and this book nailed it on the head for me. ⠀ ⠀ Given that it’s a short piece, I didn’t expect it to make me feel this lovely. The simplicity of it - the subtle observation of nature - interlaced with the equally simple but profound illustrations made me feel wonderful inside. ❤️⠀ ⠀ I won’t saturate you my own experience with this book because you need to experience it on your own. 💜⠀ ⠀ 4.5 🌟. Well-written and the illustrations complements the words smoothly. ⠀ • ➡️➡️➡️Swipe left to see a sample of the words and art. 😊💜 •⠀ Priya is hosting a giveaway on her blog that runs until the end of the month! What I’ve Been Reading Lately...
“The Red Garden,” Alice Hoffman
In her created town of Blackwell, Hoffman writes short vignettes following the founding of the town until the 1980s--from the woman who saved the original families, to their descendants 300 years later, intertwining their stories but not their memories. Her stories expose something I find to be very true about the U.S.; mainly, that most of us (principally white people) have forgotten where we came from, be it England or any other place from Europe. And not only have we forgotten where we came from, but like the characters in this story, we have forgotten our family histories as well, knowing almost nothing of those who came before us. I find this especially true in my family, and identified with this voluntary memory loss portrayed throughout the book, as the characters struggle to fit in in a town that their ancestors founded, if only they thought to remember it.
“The Little Prince,” Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
For Spanish, and probably most European people, it seems incredible that I hadn’t read The Little Prince until now: for all its popularity in Europe, it is not read so much in the U.S., even though it was written in New York! It is about a man (not unlike the author himself) who crashes his plane in the desert and comes upon a little boy who calls himself a prince of a faraway planet. The prince tells him his story, and many pieces of advice for the reader are tucked into the narrative, the most important one being that “Grownups never understand” and everything must always be explained to them. As we age, I think we lose much of our open-mindedness, acceptance, and flexibility, and this small book is a reminder of the importance of thinking like a child at times.
