After repeatedly seeing a ludicrous amount of pan erasure across the board for all companions, I've now been forced to see the horrendous take of someone theorizing that Emmrichs "real" sexuality was gay because they... *checks notes* ...got the impression he was originally drafted as gay early in development.... With no evidence of that.... At all...

So! Let's get this settled!

All of this is banter taken from in game of him clearly and without any ambiguity showing interest in men and women!

Direct from the devs mouths, in numerous places, confirming that each character is explicitly pansexual.

There's also the in-game dialogue choice to discuss being trans or nonbinary with Emmrich, to which he will respond with: "There is nothing so attractive as someone who has found herself/himself/themselves."

So we have numerous instances, both in game and confirmed directly from the devs themselves, of characters being explicitly pansexual.

In conclusion:

Emmrich Volkarin is canonically pansexual! All of the companions are canonically pansexual!

like do we have to reiterate every time the agab/cagab debate comes up that one of the earliest examples of assigned gender as terminology comes from THE FIFTIES in a medical book detailing OUR ABUSE AS INTERSEX CHILDREN, and that painting our complaints ab appropriating the language as “transmisogyny” is intersexist.

the fact that the web extension meant to flag ACTUAL TRANSPHOBIA is flagging intersex folk (and any trans ppl under the sun that dont agree with the narrow view of transfeminism as the devs) is an obvious example of how biased a voting system of “is x user y type of bigoted” is. im surprised it even worked for as long as it did before it came crashing down.

I know that Clover's gender is up to interpretation (the devs DID say so themselves) but I still feel weird when people make them exclusively male or female LOL Like it's TECHNICALLY fine??? but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

okay now that i’ve had time to sit down and process everything, all i have to say is,

i really Really fucking love that at the very core of it all, the entire plot of mouthwashing revolves around anya. she is the main character of the game. this story would not exist without her. but because we are playing in the eyes of jimmy, anya is seemingly thrown to the side often within the narrative. the most we see of anya is when we play as curly. and even then, most of her moments are overshadowed by a following conversation with jimmy. and i think it’s all. so. fucking. Genius.
