THIS GAME IS OUT NOW
PLEASE GO BUY IT
<333333
FISH FEAR ME comes out TOMORROW!!! (February 21st)
You know that Tumblr post from like a decade ago about what if there were a normal fishing game that slowly becomes more and more eldritch as you discover stranger and stranger waters? And then a few years later, Dredge came out and it was basically exactly that and it was awesome? Well, it's a few years after that, and it's time for my goof-ass take on the concept.
In FISH FEAR ME, you play as the last living human being on earth, who's been brought back from the dead by a billion-dollar cosmic debt. In order to pay off that debt, you'll need to fish -- and lots. You start off catching herrings and stonefish in your rowboat, upgrading your fishing rod and life vest, but true profit requires you to venture into stranger waters.
Before you know it, you're braving lava lakes in a submarine, delving into pitch-black catacombs, and hunting down a giant magical squid called the Ice Wizard for some reason. Every new fish gives you Forbidden Knowledge, letting you uncover new eldritch rituals. Hunt down the rarest fish for their reality-altering lures. Sacrifice your worldly possessions on arcane altars. The Leviathan that eats you at the end of every week may appear unkillable, but that shouldn't stop you from trying.
Anyways on top of all that it's a pretty fun Vampire Survivors-style fishing roguelike full of weird secrets and gags. There's a whole area that's themed after musical instruments and the strongest/rarest fish there is the Electric Bass. And then much later you're fishing in the open ocean and a fish will start shooting music notes at you out of nowhere and you pick it up and it's a tuna fish. And the whole game's full of this kind of nonsense.
Plus, y'know, deep build-crafting, challenging mechanics, obscure riddles, a faceless shopkeeper who's obsessed with you, dozens of upgradable items, a full bestiary with over 140 fish, more than 70 achievements, and a bunch of other Sicko Nonsense. I've had playtesters put over sixty hours into this game and still find new stuff to do.
If any of this interests you, I highly recommend you wishlist the game to be notified when it launches!! (Or, if it's February 21st or later, to just buy it? You can do that now. I'd recommend it.)
Ok that's all byeeeeee <3

When you eat an apple the juice runs clear but when you buy apple juice at the capitalist bourgeois grocery store it is yellow?
this is because factory farm raised apples are not given enough water to hydrate properly so their juice has a higher concentration of nitrogen and urea, which gives apple juice that distinctive yellow coloration. The more properly hydrated your apples, the more their juice will be diluted with water and the juice will run clear.
this is why you should always get organic free range apples and free range apple juice. support your local farmers.
