I was rummaging through your archives in search of smth (don't worry, I'm sure I'll find it) and in the replies of one of the posts I was rereading, I saw that you asked if Marda clan mages could sense each other! (It was one of those horrid days where I was very tired but couldn't sleep so I unfortunately missed the question, OOPS) And the answer is, I think they can! The closer they're to someone the easier they can sense each other, maybe, I don't really have the words for it but when you get really familiar with someone, you remember the “feel” of their magic, if that makes sense?

I took a while to get to this, so I trust you managed to find what you were looking for? I suspected that might be the answer and I think it makes sense that magic would be tangible and recognisable as distinct to a user, especially if there's closeness between them. And oh, this is horrible, but while answering this ask I just had the thought that if they can sense each other / each other's magic like this then they must also be able to sense when it stops. As in, when one of them dies. A sudden absence that can only mean one thing, whether it happens in the heat of battle or just on an ordinary day with no warning. Filing this under thoughts I don't want to follow too far because I am already wounding myself with them.

And now for the obligatory Team Zahhak tangent. It's canon that the mages have like... a really vile aura that can be sensed, at least by some, when they are nearby. Your ask reminded me of my headcanon that Zandeh not only becomes accustomed to it but can pick out when it's Gurgin rather than any of the other sorcerers (I guess this one was based on anime canon where their involvement with Team Hilmes was more open but it I think it works in any context in the sense of 'evil presence' becoming 'Gurgin!'. And while he might have got used to the feel of Gurgin, the others probably still register as 'wrong / unsettling').

(Meanwhile, for Wolfsnake AU which really needs a better name, Isfan always registers Gurgin as a threat, especially when he sneaks up or appears without warning as he is prone to doing, but, well, emotions can cloud your judgement, and that feeling is at odds with his belief that Gurgin is a comrade and not an enemy. Of course, eventually he'll find out that he should have just trusted his instincts.)

It fills me with dread, too! It really would have a significant negative effect on Isfan. And when he asks Team Arslan "Is this true?" with a distraught expression on his face, it's not like they can deny it.

Gurgin's actually just grappling for anything that will keep Isfan on his side and give him an advantage or a bit of control over things. While recruiting Isfan may have idly crossed his mind much earlier, I think he (correctly) never saw it as a realistic option but more like an excuse for having contact with him to start with. He might claim that he believes Isfan has a right to know (though if he thought that then why didn't he speak up about it earlier?) and I think he genuinely does sympathise with Isfan regarding what happened that night, but really he's just using it to try and sow division between Isfan and the rest of Team Arslan.

And the irony is that Gurgin's own grief for his brother was also used by Team Zahhak to their advantage and he doesn't fucking see it.

The other Wolfsnake AU moment that I'm going quietly feral about is Gurgin being the one to tell Isfan how his grief was used by Team Arslan to orchestrate Gieve's departure.

Oh oh OHHHHHH that concept fills me with dread (in a good way) because it'd affect Isfan a lot!! Ohhh my god! He's not gonna take it well! He's gonna have so many self-esteem issues from this 😭 I wonder if Gurgin told him bc he had a right to know, or was he trying to like, recruit Isfan? Or maybe it's a mix of both.

oooo !! ok so psa i actually haven't read much snicket fanfic in a very long time? so i am not quite up to date with the times nowadays JDKLJDSG. but !! i do have a few faves from when i was very avidly following the snicket tags on ao3.

first of all literally any of @virginian-wolfsnake 's works are just. showstopping incredible heartbreaking and brilliant. i am always FLOORED by their writing and i truly cannot recommend their stuff enough. 11/10. wonderful

2. @beatricebidelaire has some wonderful fics as well!! i especially love this one of esme/georgina because uhhhh duh? it's great. i just love their exploration of the sugar bowl gen and dynamics between the characters

3. ok i had to do some digging to find this one because it's been years and i could not for the life of me recall its name or author - i have no idea how it's aged but i remember absolutely adoring this fic back when i started venturing into the fandom. it's just fluffy and nice and they get to be happy! which is nice. i figured i would mention it because 14 year old me was obsessed with it back when i liked fix it au's and happy content whereas now i am much more invested in sugar bowl gen agony

4. @whencartoonsruletheworld 's stranger things au was a very fun read !! i really enjoy the plot and the way the setting is used with the snicket characters. also i just like the amount of autistic rep too. and good fiona content. always.

currently reading: i'm in the middle of re-reading sword of destiny and neuromancer and deep wizardry (i started a lot of books at once, that's not typical of me) and the unauthorized autobiography (for fic research purposes though, so it doesn't really count)

currently watching: seinfeld (i'm enjoying it a lot more than i thought i would, although it might be some weird sort of home sickness since i grew up on long island and although jerry seinfeld's voice is objectively annoying, it also sounds like home. also julia louis-dreyfus is very pretty and delightfully funny)

currently consuming: water, but i may make some sleepy time tea in a bit

currently craving: nothing, i was craving pizza. usually i don't eat pizza when i'm craving it because it just makes me sad (shhh, i rarely find non-long island pizza satisfying, and there are plenty of people who routinely make fun of me for this) but i had pizza for dinner and it was actually really good. i am very satisfied.

psychologically, maybe a solid 8 hours of sleep, but i'm cautiously optimistic that i will get in bed within the next hour, spend some time reading, and then get a good night's sleep. oh. also i am craving the stupid car dealership actually receiving the car they are trying to sell me. please!!

G.O.A.T.

First started by Lucio, who insisted on pronouncing it��‘Greatest of All Time’ but the fans just shorten it to GOAT and it stuck. 

Consisted of Lucio (Guitar/Lead Vocals), his girlfriend at the time Nadia (Drums/Backup Vocals), Julian (Bass/Keyboard), and occasionally, his sister Portia (Backup Vocals/Keyboard).

Nadia is classically trained and can just about play any instrument you hand her.

Portia and Nadia have been best friends since grade school.

The Devorak siblings tend to switch out because there is always something going on with one or the other 

Julian got sent to boarding school abroad at one point, sometimes they swap to play with Asra and Muriel’s band, etc.

Lucio always insisted on having really flashy shows with lasers and fog machines, so Nadi and Lucio spend quite a bit of time tinkering with DIY effects. 

Something goes wrong with one of Lucios pyrotechnics and well....y’know.

After a three year hiatus, Nadia takes over as Lead Vocalist, handing Drums over to Portia. She decides to keep the name the same (despite constantly insisting on changing it when Lucio was alive) in his memory. 

Their music has actually gotten faster paced and gained a harsher sound while still sounding very melodic.

They play a lot at music festivals.

Most of their following is on youtube, since Portia also posts vlogs and behind the scenes things.

Asra & Muriel

Do they have a band name? Yes. Does it change every few days? Also yes. 

Faustian Bargain, Inanna’s human, Mystic Crystals, Snakewolf, Wolfsnake, SnakeBEAR, Bearsnake, and Hoe but Fashion are all names they’ve tried at some point or another.

They both play instruments and sing together

Muriel prefers to harmonize though, and doesn’t mind letting Asra take the lead in performances.

Julian was a shortlived member of the band when he was dating Asra. That didn’t last very long.

Rather popular on soundcloud, especially since Asra started messing around with making remixes.

Play at some of the clubs in the area on weekends.

They have gotten panties thrown at them. Muriel throws them back.

They’re a really weird mix of folk, rock, and EDM that somehow works really well together when they do it.

Just to make things clear, Snake in this is a sundrop snake, that's why his tooth is gold. When both snake teeth are chipped, that's when he loses his heal bite and is a normal snake. Anyways, drawings!

1. The smolder is literally just Wolf doing puppy eyes.

2. Snake's different clothes. The first one is like a hospital gown because he's like being tested with his healing bite. The second one is a gift from one of the tavern workers. Also, Webs approves with the outfit.

3. Diane is the owner of the tavern. Shark and Piranha are one of workers. The tavern is mostly where "bad guys" come in and be who they dream to be.

As is probably very obvious I'm fixated on Wolfsnake AU right now and this is one of the songs from the playlist I made that definitely fits with the vibe of Isfan encountering Gurgin in the Dark Temple. It's unsettling and more than a little unhinged (very much suits Gurgin, especially when he's in his own territory).
