How Battle Changes
A series made from clone x reader bingo
Pairing: Dogma x Jedi!reader, platonic Wolfpack,
Description: Aura readers are rare. It is unfortunate to be one in the midst of war (this series will be a "moments in the life of reader" type of work, so numerous things happen "off-screen")
warnings: angst, fluff at the very start, one (1) chapter is smut, reader starts going off the deep end, unhealthy eating habits, reader has very little mental health stability, Umbara, chip arc doesn't happen for reasons in plot, therefore it is AU, author has not finished writing the ending
Chapter 1/Sort of prequel: Droid
Chapter 2/Sort of prequel 2: Sleep [smut chapter]
Chapter 3: Senator
Chapter 4: Wolffe
Chapter 5: Forgiveness
Chapter 6: Jesse
Chapter 7: Don't eat that!
Chapter 8: Life Day
Chapter 9: Echo
A/N: I have been sitting on the first 7 chapters for months. I have no idea how to finish the story, so I will drop a poll a week after (or after the series gets enough traction to have multiple prople asking for the ending) posting the seven chapters about what direction the ending should go in.

Cloneshipweek July 2021 Bingo
Day 4: Painting
Pairing: Fox/Wolffe
Rated: G
Day 1 // Previous // Next
@cloneshipweek
“Hold still.”
Fox wrinkled his nose, but stopped shifting. “It tickles!”
Wolffe huffed above him, and Fox felt the hard end of the paint brush poke his side.
“Hey!” he yelped. “That’s not gonna help me keep still, you know!”
Wolffe snickered, but didn’t poke him again. And when the brush touched Fox’s bare back again, it was a little firmer, less ticklish.
Fox relaxed into the sensation of Wolffe slowly painting his skin, idly wondering what was taking shape on his back. He couldn’t tell what was going on from the gentle touches or the cool glide of the paint - Wolffe hadn’t even let him see the colors beforehand.
Whatever it was, he was sure it would be beautiful.
Wolffe usually painted on plastoid, updating his armor design every few months, but he had done quite a few of the Wolfpack gunships’ nose art. He was particularly pleased with how ‘Plo’s Bros’ had turned out.
When he had asked Fox if he could paint him, Fox hadn’t even hesitated. He trusted Wolffe - he loved Wolffe, with a depth that took his breath away sometimes.
Whatever Wolffe decided should grace Fox’s skin, he was sure it would be perfect.
It felt like both an eternity and yet no time at all before he felt Wolffe shifting, swinging his leg up and over to get up from where he had been sitting on Fox’s butt. “Don’t move,” Wolffe said quietly. “I need to take a picture for you to see.”
Fox hummed and kept still, only turning his head to pillow his cheek on his forearm. From this position, he was just barely able to see Wolffe standing behind him, holding up a holorecorder and fiddling with the settings.
“Okay,” he finally said. Instead of waiting for Fox to get up, Wolffe settled onto the mat next to him, showing him the screen.
Fox’s breath caught in his throat as he looked at the picture. It was a nebula, bright orange and yellow and white against the black void of space. As he took it in, it became clear that the nebula was in the shape of a fox, prowling through the stars.
“Wolffe,” he said softly, reaching out to trace a finger over the deliberate curve of the fox’s ghostly spine. “This is… incredible.”
“You think so?”
Fox turned to press a kiss to Wolffe’s cheek. “I know so. I just… wow.” He took another moment to admire the picture of the gorgeous painting on his back. “Wonder if I could find a tattoo artist that could make it permanent…”
Wolffe made a surprised noise. “You want it forever?”
“Of course,” Fox grinned. “It’s badass, it’s cool as hell, and you made it. Of course I want to keep it forever.”
A flush was spreading over Wolffe’s cheekbones. “Kriffing sap,” he muttered, but he was smiling.
Fox laughed and kissed him again, already running through a mental list of the best tattoo parlours on Coruscant.
Maybe he could convince Wolffe to paint him more tattoo options in the future.

Trapped in a Net (Comet)
Prompt: Trapped in a Net
Fandom: Star Wars The Clone Wars (2008)
Characters: Comet (Wolfpack)
Part 1
Bingo card made by: @badthingshappenbingo
Comet walked through the forest, his blaster clutched to his chest. His eyes roamed the forest around him. He knew he agreed to patrol alone because he had wanted to prove to his brothers that he didn’t need to hold their hands, but he was regretting it now. These woods sent a bad feeling through his body. He didn’t like these woods at all. He felt like someone or something was watching him, but he couldn’t see anyone.
The leaves crunched under his boot and made the hair on Comet’s neck rise. He repressed a shudder. The heavy mist that had rolled in was not helping Comet’s feeling about these woods. The massive trunks almost looked like screaming faces and the branches had no more leaves (as they had fallen off the branches) making them look like spindly arms. He repressed another shudder.
There was movement to Comet’s left and the trooper jerked to left, blaster spinning wildly. A shift from his right and Comet jerked just in time to see a net fall over him. Electricity raced through him and Comet screamed in pain. His body jerked violently, muscles spazzing as the electricity passed through him. Comet collapsed to the ground and the last thing he saw before he passed out were strange people in robes and a skull mask.

Ofir Raul Graizer, the Director, said: “The Cakemaker” is a melodrama set in Jerusalem. The narrative moves, the settings and the characters, are of my own private memory and experience that have shaped during the 6.5 years I’ve worked on this film. Man-woman, gay-straight, religious secular, berlin-Jerusalem, Middle East – Europe – from these conflicts I was obliged to create a cinematic story where there are no answers to all the questions, like in life, and instead there is love for people and cinema. It’s a story about the attempt to put aside definition of nationality sexuality and religion. It’s my story.

Cloneshipweek July 2021 Bingo
Day 15: Magic
Pairing: Gree/Keeli
Rated: G
Day 1 // Previous // Next
@cloneshipweek
Keeli breathes life into his words, weaving things into existence with a quiet song that makes Gree's heart soar.
He sings softly of rolling thunder and falling rain, and the garden is refreshed by a passing shower just when it was starting to look a little dry.
He whistles a mimic of a bird he heard once, a long time ago and on a different planet, and it appears on their windowsill to join him in a duet.
He gives an enthusiastic performance to no one about a lover returning home and Gree finds himself pushing open the door three hours before he planned to, sweeping Keeli into a deep kiss.
"You're magic, you know," he says after they've caught their breath.
Keeli laughs, knocks his forehead against Gree's. "I think you're pretty spectacular, too."
"No, I mean… I think you quite literally have some sort of power," Gree insists. "When you sing… it comes true. Whatever you're singing about."
"Coincidence," Keeli brushes off with a laugh. "C'mon, Gree, there's no such thing as magic, and I'm not Force-sensitive."
"Not the Force," Gree says. "The Force doesn't work like this - you're just something special."
"I'm really not," Keeli says, giving him another kiss. "But I'm flattered that you think so."
They drop the topic.
Two days later, while cleaning his boots on the back stoop, Gree hears Keeli quietly singing a song about lost soldiers marching back home.
The next morning, a ship arrives, filled with brothers that had been listed as MIA for so long that they had largely been assumed dead.
Gree turns away from a pilot that had vanished from Green Company on Geonosis and finds Keeli giving him a shrug and a shy smile.
"Okay," he admits quietly, watching as the Wolfpack descends on a brother they had been including in their Remembrances for years. "Maybe it's more than coincidence."
He still won't admit it's magic, but Gree doesn't care, not when he's finally being reunited with lost vode again.

Opens In South Florida Friday, July 13.

'Aging Successfully' Basically Means Not Aging At All
From where I sit on the aging food chain, 67 is not really the new 42 ― at least not according to my left knee, which still hurts like the dickens some 40 years after I wiped it out on a ski run on Vail’s back bowls. Thing is, it only hurts sometimes, and mostly, I just forget about it.
That’s kind of a metaphor for aging ― real aging.
In 2011, an estimated 10,000 baby boomers began turning 65 every day, and that’s a pace projected to continue until the end of 2019. As the number of U.S. seniors balloons, so has the propaganda that growing older is something we should resist. The ideal has become to age “successfully” or “gracefully,” which basically means looking as if you haven’t aged at all.
I’d like quash this nonsense once and for all. Why do we congratulate the woman who won the gene pool lottery and looks 20 years younger than her age? Why, because of flukes in the MC1R gene, do we bestow the “aging gracefully” label on some, but not others? And why do we glorify the handful of octogenarians who are running marathons and jumping out of airplanes and treat them as if they are the standard-bearers of aging?
More importantly, why do we treat people who have the misfortune of showing the signs or symptoms of age as if they are failing miserably at the aging game?
St. Mary’s College of California researcher Anna Corwin, who recently published a paper saying that using elderspeak (baby talk) when addressing nursing home patients does more harm than good, is similarly incensed by the current view of aging. And Corwin is just in her late 30s.
The “how to age successfully” discourse, she says, creates the idea that we are “morally obligated to do everything we can to be productive and independent and essentially young for as long as possible.”
And, she notes, “Our obsession with how to age ‘well’ and ‘successfully’ ends up creating the feeling for those who become dependent, who need care, who are not independent or productive, that they are ‘moral failures’ in some way.”
Corwin, who has written a chapter in a forthcoming book on the topic, boils it down to this: “The ‘successful aging’ movement and all its advice and research on how to ‘age’ really boils down to a conversation on how to NOT age.”
Bingo.
‘You don’t look your age’ isn’t a compliment.
At 67, I am frequently told that I don’t “look” my age. It is said as a compliment, but in reality it’s a perception problem based on the belief that there is something bad about aging.
Put another way: If I am 67 and this is how I look, then this is what 67 looks like. Yet in the speaker’s mind, being 67 is a bad thing, and therefore, it’s “good” that I don’t look my age.
It’s worth repeating: I do look my age. This is what 67 looks like. Do I look old? Depends on who I’m standing next to.
Wouldn’t it be better to be honest about what aging is really like for the majority of us? For one thing, it’s a bridge most of us will one day cross.
Aging, for me, is a means of sticking around long enough to do all the things I want to do, like meeting my future grandkids.
For the immediate future, that means doing things like eating right, exercising and keeping my mind engaged. And in the future, it may mean repairing and replacing body parts that have worn out. It does not, in my case, mean changing anything else.
At 67, I carry a few more pounds than I once did. I’m not rushing to any plastic surgeon’s office to have anything nipped or tucked, but yes, I have wrinkles and sags where tight skin used to be. I can no longer stay awake past 11 p.m., nor do I want to. And sleeping eight hours straight is a fluke of nature unless medications or exhaustion are involved. I wear one type of glasses to read and another type to drive. And I quantify how much I want to attend an event by how difficult the parking will be.
Some foods I once loved, such as anything deep-fried, no longer love me back. Sun, my teenage self’s best friend, has become my adult self’s Public Enemy No. 1. And I just took my last pair of high heels to the thrift store, along with a turtleneck cashmere sweater that I haven’t worn since I moved into that menopausal “I’m hot all the time” zone.
Side note: I actually am eager for the “I’m cold all the time” zone that people much older than me inhabit.
My 45 years of slouching over a newsroom desk mean my back hurts periodically. But my feet are my real nemesis. With bulging bunions and bouts of plantar fasciitis, they are my body’s Benedict Arnold, a traitor to the cause of things I enjoy doing, like hiking.
Every week or so, I hear about someone from my past or their spouse being diagnosed with a serious disease or dying. Sometimes I catch myself playing the obituary game, where I scan the death notices hunting for the cause of death for anyone younger than me. For the people in their 90s who grace the death notice page, I count how many were predeceased by all their loved ones. I’d rather be among the former than the latter. Death is not a road I want to walk down alone.
I chalk all this up to the aging process ― real aging, not the kind on display during a local news story about a nonagenarian triathlete. Good for the triathlete, but he is the exception, not the rule.
I have always cherished my closest friends, the women my kids call “Auntie” and with whom I confide my deepest thoughts and secrets. Of our wolfpack of six, I am the oldest. As one friend likes to say of me, I get to go first through all the milestones that come with aging.
I remind them that someone has to ― and it beats going last.
