JJ and Kiara have been close for the whole series, and JJ has openly had a crush on her since the first episode, but in season 3 they officially get together, after a lot of false-start love confessions, and after JJ saves her from one of those troubled teens wilderness camps, they kiss in the middle of a room of screaming teen girls lol- theyre adorable, Kiara endulges in JJs nonsense while also making sure he doesn't go too far into self-destruction, theyre both kinda unstable and inconsistent and tbh- kinda iconic.

Pope and Kiara's canon relationship doesnt really go well? I don't think they'd be a romantic pair in this triad since that doesn't seem like something Kiara wants for them, but they are incredibly close and Kiara does seem to love Pope, just not romantically, I think they'd both benefit from a QPR lol

JJ and Pope are a huge ship in the fandom, they're incredibly close in canon, very playful, very touchy and affectionate (they obviously hug a lot, but theres also a weird amount of moments where they kiss each others necks??), and JJ makes... like a lot of sexual jokes specifically about or towards Pope? He also just straight up asks Kiara if Pope is "freaky" and if he's a better kisser than John B (Main character who Kiara had a situationship with) and just seems incredibly interested with Pope and Kiara's relationship when they were together.

I just KNOW JJ has so much fucking compersion for Kiara and Pope, he wants to know every detail about their relationships (both with each other and probably with others) and is constantly offering Pope "girl advice", I just know he gets so happy whenever his crushes/partners are romantically happy/satisfied, even if it's not necessarily only with him-@rotteneldritchhorror

I don't really write simple and straightforward love songs much!! Love is absolutely a core aspect of my songwriting, and I love a lot of people and a lot of things, but even when I invoke romantic love, it's usually not entirely literal? If that makes sense.

But, like, c'mon. I'm a lesbian. I love women with the best of 'em. Sometimes I just wanna be gay! Especially on an album as fraught with emotional moments as Constant Companions is, I feel like it's really important to have at least one simple moment to settle on.

I love the band Phoenix. I'll be completely honest and tell you that I first heard their music when Lisztomania and 1901 came out as DLC for Rock Band 2 but hey that's how a lot of people my age found a lot of music when they were younger probably. Their album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix was one of a couple major sonic touchstones for how I wanted Constant Companions to sound - bouncy, warm, synthetic-yet-natural, with multiple shades of idiosyncrasies - but Liaison in particular was a pretty bold-faced attempt to directly evoke their music, at least in terms of arrangement.

Now, I'm not well-read or French enough to fully match the bright-eyed abstract lyricism or historical knowledge of their songwriting completely - but I can be Jamie Paige about it, reference Arthurian legend, and quote another freaking song I wrote

🤼‍♀️, also known as :women_wrestling:, isn't the gayest song I've ever written, but it's certainly up there, and it gets referenced pretty heavily in Liaison. Maybe this is the aftercare once they're done in the ring? Maybe there are more complicated layers hiding beneath the saccharine sweetness of these hopeless lovers...

Maybe I'm just gay. Ever consider that, huh?

That being said, for reasons I won't go into here, there's some amount of the vocal synth fandom that interpret Solaria and ANRI as being in a sort of toxic embittered lesbian situationship... which does make the layers a little more interesting... though if you ask me? I think lesbians deserve to be happy. What about that you shithead

P: EG MASTERMIND AND TRAITOR THEORY

Well, this is my theory of who I think could be the mastermind taking into account the prologue and chapter 1.

In my personal opinion I think Ulysses Wilhelm the ultimate historian and Toshiko Kayura the ultimate matchmaker could be the mastermind and traitor respectively I have several reasons to distrust these two.

My first argument to distrust these two is their animal motif, let's start with Ulysses

In the Bible, owls are classified as unclean animals (Leviticus 11:16-17; Deuteronomy 14:16). They represent impurity, as well as grief of loss(Job 30:28-29; Micah 1:8) and loneliness (Psalm 102:6). For the Israelites, owls remind them of desolate and ruined cities (Isaiah 34:11-15; Jeremiah 50:39).

As we see, owls in the Bible are seen as those who bring misfortune and what animal motif does Ulysses have? The owl

Now let's with Toshiko

In Christianity, the flamingo represents truth. This is because flamingos' tongues can filter dirty water to feed themselves, so they are thought to represent the ability to filter out lies and seek out the truth.

With this it seems to me that Toshiko as a traitor could regret continuing with the game of death and try to reveal the truth but is killed by Ulysses and he blames someone else, and as part of this murder he can cut out Toshiko's tongue for she trying to talk too much, Ulysses cutting out her tongue would be ironic, since we have never seen Toshiko's full face and in theory this fits

My second argument for why these two are mastermind and traitor is because of the pairings in the prologue.

We know that in the prologue Damon woke up with Eva right? And Wolfgang woke up with Grace, Isn't curious that both pairs are couple material? And what is Toshiko's talent? Matchmaker, it is also curious that Ulysses and Toshiko will wake up together, since Ulysses has more chemistry with Wenona, at least they were together because that's what he wanted, We don't know exactly what the rest of the couples were during the prologue but we do know that Toshiko also works under the conditions of the same gender, so if for example Jett and I were to wake up together, Toshiko could have perfectly matched them

My third argument is linked to the first trailer

At the beginning we see the phrase "History repeats itself" or something similar I don't remember, Ulysses says in his introduction "those who don't know their history are destined to sound like idiots on the internet", At first it sounds like a joke but it makes sense in theory, if we go back to Ulysses' free time he says he had a mentor, what if she participated in a killing game And Ulysses is destined to do the same? Or well it's something absurd

And my last argument is the objects of both, the notebook and the fan respectively.

We know that personal items in Danganronpa always play an important role in trials, such as Peko's sword, Kirumi's gloves, or for example in fanmades like Rocky restarts that is planty or in despair time like Min's vest/pen or Ace's exercise band, personal objects always take a major role, especially when it is something that characterizes the character, and what characterizes both? A fan and a notebook, I know it's a bit far-fetched, but I feel like there's more information in Ulysses' notebook than meets the eye, and the fact that Toshiko always covers her face is more suspicious than it is because of mysticism.

Anyway, this is my theory and I hope you like it.

Dear listener, this will be my final musical entry for 24’ and for several months, and we’re gonna end it with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, one of the elite few great classical composers of all time. I feel like these days, classical music has been somewhat devalued and relegated to running in the background of ultra-absorbent paper towel commercials. This is a damn shame, because classical music changed music on planet Earth forever, and composers like Mozart once represented bleeding-edge innovation in the realm of music. For his time, Mozart wrote music in every available and accessible genre and excelled at each of them as well. Much like classical music in a broad sense, WAM attempted to create works that were universal in application. Much like me, the man genuinely enjoyed pleasing every segment of his wide-ranging audience with his personal versatility. Is it any wonder that you’re familiar with WAM’s name and works even though you weren’t even living during his era? So, how do men like this become immortalized? Join me below for an answer from some guy on the internet. Just above is The Requiem in D minor, K. 626, a piece Mozart didn’t even finish before he died. It is haunting, beautiful and really exemplifies WAM’s range. Thank you, all my dear listeners on Tumblr, for celebrating another year of music with me. Dying young at 35 but filling his entire short life with his own firebrand of musical creativity, WAM started his career at an extremely fresh-faced 5 years old when he wrote his first keyboard composition. He wrote his first SYMPHONY when he was an 8-year-old… and I don’t know if anyone is aware of this but, that kind of natural compositional talent doesn’t exactly grow on trees these days, or even hundreds of years in the past. Like many other classical artists, WAM was brought up in the Church, specifically in the Catholic faith. He is well known for composing ‘divinely inspired works’, specifically designed for Mass between Epistle and Gospel. Performing for imperial courts as a mere child and then going on to create 600 + total musical works in his lifetime, WAM wasn’t just some musician from Austria; he was a Bonafide genius. He could speak over a dozen languages, was awarded the Order of the Golden Spur by Pope Clement XIV and was perhaps one of the most notable and famous Freemasons of all-time. WAM even went as far as producing openly masonic works like The Magic Flute and Thomas, King of Egypt. Unlike other classical artists (Brahms, Beethoven, Vivaldi), WAM was a family man who cherished his children but left very little to them because of his excessive drinking, extravagant general spending, and personal generosity. His lack of money-management aside, WAM stands tall as one of the most, if not the MOST famous Austrian musician of all time. Fun fact: WAM loved fart and poop jokes. I’m NOT kidding. He went as far as writing scatological music for his recreational and drunk buddies and quipped about his bowel movements to close friends and family members in numerous letters. Why would I mention this, you may ask? Because, for his time, this man was a walking immortal on Earth. Mozart’s shit-based humor humanizes him to me, and I love how this yester century genius thought absolutely anything coming out of the human ass was hilarious. Having been subject to numerous infections and bumps on his skin before his untimely death, WAM died young and under entirely mysterious circumstances which have never been properly identified or explained. How would Damon’s soulmates comfort him if he were crying?

Hmm, this is definitely an interesting question because Damon has been shown to be...very avoidant of any emotional turmoil until it bursts and he's forced to confront it. Thinking that he's kinda an ugly crier but quiet about it unless he hyperventilates (like, only sniffles occasionally and doesn't really sob, but dear god is his face blotchy when he's done). I'm ranking everyone and writing under the assumption that a: it's during their 1st night trapped in EGA (when Damon's thinking about how he wants his parents), and b: all the soulmates already know in order to simplify things

◊ 10/10: Desmond. Man is capable of everything except keeping track of his things. Definitely one of the few who verbally validates that yeah, this is a scary situation to be in, and missing loved one outside is completely normal. Asks if Damon needs/wants him to do anything to help, insisting that he's okay with anything (if he needs a hug, or just for Desmond to stay next to him, he's doing it). Tries distracting by asking what his parents are like, and that they seem like good people since their son clearly loves them a lot. Offers to make tea once Damon stops crying and all around is just doing a good job.

◊ 9/10: Diana. She does most of what Desmond does, but her wording is a lot more optimistic (and therefore naive in Damon's eyes). But she's persistent that they'll find a way out and that he'll see his parents again. (She'd also ask about them as a distraction, and bless her heart she helps hide the evidence with her talent afterwards because she knows he's prideful like that) Gives full body hugs, almost pulls back on realizing she didn't ask first, then hugs even tighter when Damon returns it (definitely frustrates Damon a little that she's clearly struggling not to cry herself but is more worried about him).

◊ 8.5/10: Wolfgang. While being older makes his words have more weight, unlike Diana this man has never done this before. He is very clearly copying the things he's seen in his daytime shows, but the hugs are somehow both loose and stiff (man's nervous about doing something wrong, cut him some slack). Definitely gets a halfhearted "You suck at this" from Damon.

◊ 8/10: Ulysses. Similar to Wolfgang in the sense of never having done this before, but with the caveat of desperately skimming through his journal to see if he'd written down how to comfort a crying person. Eventually gives up on that and tries distracting Damon via debate history. Which surprisingly works as Damon is so taken aback by the random change in subject that he just listens to Uly ramble while slowly calming down. Ulysses stays on the logical side of things when comforting (ex: that 16 missing Ultimates are surely being looked for), doesn't initiate any hugs but does squeeze Damon's hand reassuringly. (proceeds to go unconscious the minute Damon's okay again, and now he's stuck there with an owl on his shoulder)

◊ 7/10: Cassidy, Kai, and Jett. Definitely not as good with words as those above them and would fumble with that at first. However, they have bear hugs in spades. Which, considering that Damon didn't really have expectations for them on the words side of things, it's good enough.

◊ 6/10: Mark and Eva. Mark is Mark, and Eva's only interactions with crying people are the times when she was crying after getting bullied in school (plus, she was literally the first to claim that a killing would happen, I don't think she'd have the audacity to walk back on that like 2 hours later). Definitely the type who'd internally go "Fuck, what do I do? Uh, people need fluids after crying, right??" and then be awkwardly sitting next to Damon holding a glass of tap water. Don't really do/say anything but awkward shoulder pats and "Do you...need anything?" They kinda really suck at this, but they're there for him at least.

Honorable Mention: Toshiko. It's honestly a coin toss in my head on whether she's decent if awkward about it or if it feed-backs into her starting to cry about missing her mom. As mature as Toshiko makes herself out to be, being stuck here sucks, and being 14 and stuck here probably sucks more, especially since she clearly loves her mom as shown by her FTEs. It probably ends up with mutual hugging on the floor while crying and telling the other how bad they are at this (Damon is more motivated by the "I shouldn't behave like this in front of a kid" factor than the actual comforting attempts to stop crying). Definitely a bit awkward when they're done, but for the sake of Damon's poor mochi heart, Toshiko shall forgive his terrible decorum with comforting a lady if he in turn forgives her rather uncouth display just then (girl you are fourteen, it's okay to cry sweetie).
