A spear would be an odd choice for a mage, and if this weapon he's holding is a staff it's awfully arrow-like. I'm interpreting it as an arrow, as The Slow Arrow.

SPOILERS FOR DAV, ONLY READ IF FINISHED THE GAME

Read at your own risk!!! Ever since finishing the game, I've started replaying the game. And I've been noticing some details. Some very specific details...

Is Varric actually fully Solas? All throughout the Lighthouse? I know that Solas made Rook see Varric, but I was under the assumption that it was kinda like Rooks mind filling in the blanks, or something along those lines.

But there's a scene I caught, at the very beginning. Where when Rook is looking away and whichever companion enters the healing room and talks to them. The camera keeps cutting back to his expression. And I feel like the expressions on his face doesnt fit Varric.

The gif is a bit grainy so I'll add a clearer screenshot to show his expression.

The little micro shift in his expression. It feels like aggression. Could this really be just Solas imitating his friend, and actually getting more involved to shape Rook into what he needs? It would put so much more weight into his words. "I molded you into someone the prison would accept in my place." "I taught you well."

Yall please tell me I'm not crazy and you're seeing this too. I'm so sick rn about all of this.

That Dread Wolf Form though

Solas girlies really did get toward the end of Veilguard and just be like

i love the idea that over the years, alaya is still widely referred to as the inquisitor and continues to builds up a reputation despite disbanding the inquisition (or maybe because of it, since they're no longer as visible to the public)

stories about her riding a dragon into battle, taking out venatori operations or defeating hordes of qunari. some true, some false, some greatly exaggerated

rook expects her to be intimidating and severe, much like how it felt first meeting solas. but upon actually meeting her they're surprised at how warm she is. a little world-weary with some underlying sadness, but still so warm.

(then rook sees how fiercely she fights in combat and thinks that the rumors weren't exactly false, either)

what’s interesting is the dread wolf form we see in the trailer is actually different from all of the artistic portrayals of the dread wolf we’ve seen thus far in murals. all of the wolves we’ve seen do have full-body fur, and many have had red eyes rather than blue depending on the context of the representation. there’s probably a reason, like that he’s emaciated and weak from time in the fade prison, or maybe even that he’s blighted, or something like that. but i think the even better and absolutely hilarious option is that because all of those murals were painted by him, he’s just been painting himself look better than his actual form this whole time. pride indeed

i can understand the solas & mythal statues at the lighthouse esp w the music room puzzle etc etc too scared to face your regrets & the ones you wronged & failed to protect & they wronged you in return etcetc this was a rebellion hideout & he still held her in high regard assumed she'd change her ways & join him etcetc all fine & logical.

but why does solas have a statue of himself in his furry form smack in the fucking middle of the fucking courtyard.
