I want more chubby Rainwings!! They sit n eat all day they’re supposed to be lanky but it can’t be all muscle. They have a better system in place so they get more movement in but some fat just stays man (and it’s beautiful and I love it /pos)

Razzle + Dazzle is a hivewing / Icewing hybrid! Not completely happy with razzles face shape translated here, so I’ll edit it a little bit but also this was literally my first time drawing the two at all sooo…! Razzle has the hivewing face and traits with Icewing coloring, and Dazzle has the Icewing traits and face with darker colors that strictly come from hivewings. That being said, nightwing and icewing hybrid was my initial thought but then I looked at my tribes represented and saw nightwings would’ve been overdone and hivewings were sitting at ONLY vee.

This gives me an excuse to draw them having a pair of bug wings though so that’s a win I think! Uhhh au wise I’m leaning on dandy having control over the two and I don’t think I’ll change that but we’ll see.

BRIGHTNEY!!! I’ve drawn her before and her design came to me like immediately! She’s a skywing with partial / very weak firescales so typically unless she’s stressed it only really gives her a warm- dare I say- lamp like glow. Not under dandy’s control because she keeps burning the evil leafspeak lmao stupid idiot what do you think was going to happen ( this is a joke, also haven’t decided on her position)

Plus the fun bonus of their face shapes being used and red lining, razzdazz has a serious version because like said above, this is my first time ever properly drawing them even if it’s a concept for a dragon version.

Speaking of canonically chubby characters, did you know Turtle is as well? I don’t see him drawn with it much but iirc he’s described as a little plump

Yeah! I thought that it was only like a semi-popular headcanon until I looked into it just yesterday!

To my knowledge and from what I've been able to find, the only characters that are described to be overweight in the books are Ochre, Dazzling, Lagoon (the one from book 2), Turtle, and Treehopper. There could still be somebody I'm missing, and if I am please let me know!

Grandeur is Sloth

Her giving up on her tribe is her biggest flaw, she threw away all of her people's future over her daughters not wanting the throne or not being "worthy" but then gives them shitty queens anyway, I love Grandeur but that was bad

Magnificent is Pride

Pretty obvious, she refused to help then acted surprised when someone offered to do her job correctly, could have been a more evil or interesting villain tho

Dazzling is Greed

Maybe one I would change today, her appearance in the book points her more towards Gluttony but also she took the fruits for herself even when it was dangerous for her place at the top of the hierarchy to do so, very politicians being caught stealings taxe funds type of thing

Exquisite is Gluttony

Even back then I was NOT happy putting the only fat girl as the representative for Gluttony but honestly, asside from her cheating, she was winning that race, all that energy came from one place, food.

Splendor is Wrath

This is purely headcanon on my part but, I kind of think that after being saved from the Volcano, her sadness over her tribe and fellow queens not searching for her despite her being a ruller turned into rage, she's now snappy toward most dragons, especially her ex friends, I think I headcanoned her possibly being Magnificent's sister or a girlfriend to one of the queens

Fruit Bat is Lust

Look ... I tried. She was the only one that somehow fitted, with her being obsessed with perfume and better ways to perfume scales for a longer time, maybe to attract others ? She's linked to flowers and scent, stuff that could be love-coded but turned and twisted to fit what she wants them to be.

Glory is Envy

It may be partially because of that artist and their own rendition of the seven royal sins (but with every tribe rather than only rainwings) but Glory always seemed like she desired so much, having once had nothing. She's the only one to not have a quote in link to her sin because the one here represents her better in my opinion ...

Fun WoF character design thingies for if you want to make an OC

Tusks for IceWings, MudWings, or SandWings.

Brightly colored fins for reef SeaWings.

Silver freckles for NightWings.

Stripes, patches, points.

Faint leopard patterns for SandWings.

LeafWings with wings shaped like the leaf of your favorite plant.

Curly SandWing frills.

SeaWing fins that are so long they flop over.

MudWing horns that curve forward like a bull's.

MudWings with a snout that is lighter than their body, reminiscent of an American black bear.

SandWings inspired by your favorite snake--stripes, scale patterns, bright colored underbellies. You could also use a lizard species. Go nuts!

Scale colors or patterns inspired by your favorite dog coat color/pattern. Merles, tricolors, socks, patches. This would work especially well for SilkWings.

Additionally, SilkWing fuzz in any place you want. Tail tufts, chest puffs, fuzzy manes, puffs on the legs like a poodle, neck collars.

Horse face markings---stripes, blazes, snips, stars, diamonds.

Additionally, dark striped legs, dorsal lines, or dark frills on SandWings, reminiscent of mustang horses. Darker snouts and ears as well.

SeaWings that are light colored and splotched with darker blue and/or green, like a domestic koi fish.

LeafWings with a flower-like growth(s) somewhere on their body. Can be any color and help with camouflage.

Irregular, knotted horns for LeafWings, like branches.

Metallic silver or blue IceWings that reflect nearly all light with a dazzling mirror effect.

Long, thin RainWings that are very flexible.

Conversely: large, solid, muscular RainWings. Uncommon, but possible. Very good at lifting rocks for other RainWings so they can collect bugs to eat.

RainWings with hooks on their wings that help them climb.

HiveWings that shimmer iridescently like beetles.

Pink HiveWings.

SilkWings with exceptionally long antennae. Half as long as their body or more. Bonus if they're feathery.

HiveWing horns that jut out in front like insect mandibles.

Chimera SilkWings----one wing set that is one color patten, and the other is completely different.

ooh all this wof stuff reminds me. i’ve actually had some ideas for hybrid dragons, and certain traits and/or characteristics inspired by real life stuff that i think would be really cool to incorporate into whatever they have going on, based on what tribes are mixed together. also just. stuff i made up. gonna write out a bit of that now (sharing these concepts hopefully to inspire others? anyone is welcome to them)

sea/mud

so seawings are aquatic, and mudwings are bulky and armored. something i think would be really cool to do with that combination would be to take inspiration from the huge, heavily armored, and fearsome-looking prehistoric fish, dunkleosteus. i think it’s giant platelike scales could look really interesting on a dragon, as well as it’s general head shape with it’s huge teeth and jaw.

i do actually have a vague character idea based on this concept, though i doubt he’ll see the light of day

rain/sea

idk how much of a stretch it would be biologically, but i thought it would be sick as hell if a rainwing/seawing hybrid had really delicate skin, and had the rainwing color changing ability but with the added bonus of bioluminescence. some deep-sea squid kinda stuff. maybe. i just think it would be very neat. maybe to chill it out a bit, only certain sections of the body would be capable of it? idk i just really love the idea of a timid, scrawny little dragon flashing all sorts of bright lights and colors in order to dazzle and disorient bigger dragons it sees as a threat

sky/night

not too much of a concept but like. not really a fantribe since it’s just a combo but. sunwings. just think about it. big golden dragons with large wings with like. idk. outer space-reminiscent patterning. these guys would have the biggest egos around but. they’d be gorgeous. the broad shape and starry wings of the nightwings, the bright, warm colors and powerful flight (and fire) of the skywings, it’d make for a formidable dragon

WoF tribe design headcanons

so as we all know, the tribes are a little lacking in canon diversity, so here's a list of all the tribe design headcanons I have.

Mudwings: come in browns ranging from black to beige, greens ranging from olive to dark green and dark reds. Some have small patterns in gold, bright red, or white. Horns usually appear like those of rams or bisons.

Skywings: come in all shades of red, less pale shades of orange, gold, bronze, and some are even pink. Often have small patterns in black or the colors previously mentioned. A common pattern found is a "crack" pattern, often found on the wings, neck or horns

Seawings: come in all shades of blue, green, grey, black and purple. Nearly always have highlights in bright colors on their webs and horns, correlating with the glow of their bio scales. The bio scales come in all sorts of designs, with only the placement and overall shape remaining the same. Some are known for having many protrusions on their chins, resulting in beards.

Sandwings: come in yellows, dusty browns, white, and very rarely, pale orange. They are usually fairly skinny, with very few packing on significant weight. Their ears are big to assist in cooling off. Their horns are often thin. The spines along their back is actually hair, and some grow it out while overs shave it. They can also braid it if they so desire. Their patterns come in black, brown, white, red, orange, and very rarely, blue.

Nightwings: although they are known for being black, they actually are mostly just very dark shades of any color, only visible when looked at very closely. Likewise, the stars on their wings come in a dazzling array of colors, from pale pink and blue, to bright yellow and deep red. Sometimes, they have smaller lines of scales connecting the big stars, creating constellations on their wings. When they are hatched under one full moon, there is one silver teardrop at the edge of their eyes. When hatched under two, there are two scales, so close together that they form a heart. And when hatched under three moons, there are three silver scales at the edge of their eyes.

Silkwings: some have hairs on their antenna, similar to moths, while overs have smooth ones. They have the longest average horns of all the tribes. Their wings come in all different sorts of shapes, not just rounded, like the real shapes of butterfly wings. They have the sharpest and longest claws of any tribe, to assist them in climbing during the larvae stage of their life.

Icewings: actually come in all colors, just very pale shades of them. Occasionally have little patterns of their color, but brighter. No scales on chest, upper stomach, lower tail, and legs knee down. Are covered in fur in those places. Horns look like antlers of many types of northern animals, such as moose or reindeer. Tails endings are thick, with clusters of spikes on all sides.

Rainwings: Come in many different pattern, such as splotches or geometric shapes. Each has a unique "resting color", for when they're not changing their colors to something else. Back spines end around the upper part of the tail, so not to harm the dragon in the part where the tail curls.

Leafwings: While their main color is always some shade of green ranging from nearly black to nearly white, they nearly always have a secondary color on the webs between their back spines, the edges and veins of their wings, their horns and some of the mismatched scales on their neck, tails and legs. The secondary color can range from silver to brown to red to pink to pretty much anything, including other shades of green. Dragons with leafspeak sometimes have little leaves sprouting from their horns, which grow and die according to the seasons.

Hivewings: come in reds, yellows, oranges, blacks, browns, and greens. Some have strands of hair growing across their bodies, which are very sharp and tough. There are no whites in their eyes, just orbs of glistening browns, reds and blacks. Their wings move like those of a dragonfly, and they make a buzzing sound when they fly.
