Thanks for the answer ! Been following the club from afar for a few years because I have a soft spot for a bunch of the players but I never really got the time to get into watching the D1 in addition to the other leagues I follow until halfway through last season. I think it's the fact that the star isn't there for the cup and uwcl matches that had me confused when I tried to figure out when it appeared. I've got another question though : I noticed in your header they all seem to be wearing the 21/22 shirt but some have the sword sponsor and others the mastercard one on the front. Is it because they had a different sponsor for the domestic league and the uwcl during that season and switched completely to mastercard the season after ? I know it's a weird question but my autistic brain likes to focus on pointless details 🤦♀️
I understand that the D1 is complicated to follow (canal doesn't help with broadcasting). I'm trying to follow the WNBA this season, but with the time difference and the simultaneous matches, it's complicated so i get it. Ask as many questions as you like and it's not a weird question, you just want to have all the info 👌🏻. From what I've seen while searching, Sword was worn for the Champions League and Mastercard for the League in the 21/22 season and then we switched completely to Mastercard (unfortunately, their logo is ruining the shirts).

Tumblr tag game
Thank you @kingkyks for tagging me!!
1. Why did you choose your url ?
Because she has been one of my fav players, in her style of playing and her footwork. I also relate to her a lot as to how she is off the field - i don’t know how to describe it but i feel we are similar in a lot of ways. I have wanted to change it to a parisian player for so long but at the end, i just love and relate to Amel a lot.
2. Any side blogs ?
I do have one! try finding out what it is lol.
3. How long have you been on tumblr ?
I think I created it around 2014 but never really used it except to look for stuff i liked. I have only started an active blog last year i think when i was stuck in lockdown and wanted to talk football a lot more.
4. Do you have a queue tag ?
i try to remember to tag my queued posts as “a la queue leu leu”. Keeping it very croissant as you can see.
5. Why did you start your blog in the first place ?
I wanted to talk and give my opinion about football a lot more. I don’t think i could really have that experience on the bird app and since none of my friends are really football fans, i decided to start this blog.
6. Why did you choose your icon/pfp ?
Because it's MAK, the queen of paris and france. It is one of the most beautiful pictures from any trophy celebrations anyone has ever done. You cannot do better than her, the trophy, and the eiffel tower!!! It’s just symbolic to me and the queen deserves it!
It was Tobin before because she’s my all time fav. I still have as much love for her tho!
7. Why did you choose your header ?
I had a kylian psg one but since it is the Euros, we had to change one to croissant baguette obviously!!!!!! It is still a Kyky one because helloooo, the best in the world right now. It is from the last time i felt real joy ie World Cup 2018.
8. What’s your post with the most notes ?
It’s either the post where someone was dragging ESPN FC about Ronaldo international goal record when there are women football players with more or a wnba and blm post.
9. How many mutuals do you have ?
i don’t know... around 30 to 40 i guess!
10. How many followers do you have ?
around 1.4k i think!
11. How many people do you follow ?
82. It’s mostly friends, blogs for my side blog content lmao, some football blogs i like until it messes with my vibe!
12. Have you ever made a shit post ?
I don’t really know what’s a shitpost.
maybe shitpost about football ? i think i have. most of them are jokes and i am not sorry to people who’ve taken them seriously.
13. How often do you use tumblr a day ?
way too much per day especially for someone who is trying to get a degree. I don’t scroll through all the posts though ; i just check what some friends posted!
14. Did you ever have a fight/argument with another blog ?
I do not think so. Any time i do not like what someone posts about or i feel that they are too negative, i just unfollow them oops.
15. How do you feel about the ‘you need to reblog’ posts ?
i don’t care about them. I have a great ability to ignore stuff tbh. I do like reblogging what my friends post about tho
16. Do you like tag games ?
I do!
17. Do you like ask games ?
Yes, I love them! i don’t know if people who follow me hate them though. At some point, i felt like i was answering too many asks and flooding the dash, so i kinda slowed down.
18. Which of your mutuals do you think is tumblr famous ?
I think most of them are really famous !!!
19. Do you have a crush on a mutual ?
Nope.. i don’t have any crush at the moment sadly!

5 questions about the NBA’s weird 2018 Christmas schedule
We have that and more in Thursday’s NBA newsletter.
The NBA released key games from the 2018-19 season schedule on Wednesday, including opening week national TV games, the Christmas Day schedule, and the docket for Martin Luther King Day. December 25 is really the marquee day on the calendar, and the pentuple-header for 2018 goes like this: Bucks at Knicks, Thunder at Rockets, Celtics at Sixers, Lakers at Warriors, Blazers at Jazz.
I have some questions.
What did LeBron do to deserve this?
You’d think the NBA would be thrilled that LeBron chose the Lakers. One of his rewards is stepping into a Christmas Day viper pit on must-watch national TV on the road 30-something games into his debut L.A. season? Sheesh.
This Knicks on Christmas thing every year ... can we not?
I gently propose that if you win fewer than 35 games and don’t add an All-Star in the offseason, you shouldn’t be getting Christmas Day games. Even if you’re a guaranteed sell-out at any record, you play in the Mecca of basketball, and you are really convenient for NBA headquarters employees.
Is Christmas Day not a national holiday in Canada?
The reigning East regular season champs made the single best player addition in the conference over the summer and still can’t get on T.V. on December 25. You don’t need to blow Spurs-Raptors on Christmas -- that sounds like a mid-November Thursday TNT game, honestly -- but sending the Bucks to Toronto for Christmas instead of New York seems reasonable.
Is there a global salt shortage?
If so, let’s get some miners to Thunder-Rockets because there’s going to be plenty.
How do the Sixers and Celtics feel about being the NBA’s new East crutch?
Without LeBron in the East, the league is leaning heavily on that old/new rivalry, using it for opening night and Christmas. I’m so here for it. Let’s hope they live up to it, too. That playoff series between them wasn’t exactly competitive ... even without Gordon Hayward and Kyrie Irving.
Rage Against The Grassroots Machine
The NCAA announced a wide range of rule changes and reforms as recommended by the Condi Rice-led commission -- that same commission that is helping push the NBA toward abolishing the age minimum. Ricky O’Donnell has four takeaways on the impact on college basketball. The biggest impact seems to be an attempt to kill the major summer AAU events that aren’t Nike’s Peach Jam.
The NCAA clearly stepped all over USA Basketball and the NBA in announcing these changes, some of which put the onus on USA Basketball and NBA to deal with elite prospects one way or another. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports NBA and USA Basketball leaders were blindsided by the rule change announcement. It also appears some of the changes -- like allowing elite prospects to sign with agents while maintaining NCAA eligibility -- wouldn’t take effect until the age minimum is officially gone, which is a couple years out.
Yahoo!’s Dan Wetzel, meanwhile, takes the NCAA to the woodshed for using the commission’s report to expand its investigatory powers while making only minor, common-sense concessions to players. And O’Donnell points out that the changes don’t actually fix anything. Here’s a representative quote:
”Even the new rule changes that seem good on the surface won’t have a tangible impact on the vast majority of college basketball players. The NCAA rushed to make a statement to appear as if it was taking a hardline stance in response to the FBI investigation. In the process, it served no one but itself.”
This is my shocked face.
Links Galore

Michael Powell of the New York Times digs in on the public subsidy of Cleveland’s arena.
The WNBA officially ruled the Aces’ no-show in D.C. after a travel nightmare as a forfeit. Pretty wild to have a forfeit in pro sports in 2018.
The Currys are good.
Kawhi Leonard thanks the Spurs -- including Gregg Popovich! -- a couple weeks after being traded.
Brian Bowen, one of the players at the center of the FBI’s college basketball investigation last year, is going to spend a season in Australia under its initiative for elite prospects.
Chelsea Clinton is a WNBA fan!
Riley McAtee dives deep to assess the Lakers’ chances of missing the playoffs.
The Hornets’ classic court gets my approval.
The state of Jahlil Okafor’s career: a partial guarantee. Wow.

The Best Players And Biggest Upsets Of 2018 In (Almost) Any Sport
As 2018 draws to its conclusion, we wanted to look back at the year in sports — the best (and worst) teams, the results that surprised us most and the athletes who inspired us. On Friday, we covered the best and worst teams of 2018, so now it’s time to look at the best players and upsets of the year.
You can read that first article for more detail on the methodology behind our rankings — but the “best players” are derived by taking a similar approach, this time using an all-in-one value metric of choice in each pro sport for which we have Elo ratings1 and ranking every player relative to other individual seasons since 2000. (Again, this includes all stats from seasons that either started or ended in the 2018 calendar year, so some numbers included in those seasons may have been compiled in 2017.) We’re also tracking the best upsets in the same manner, measuring the winner’s Elo-predicted win probability against the most unlikely wins in that sport over time.
Without further ado, I give you the best professional player of 2018 in the NBA, NFL and MLB …
Best player of 2018
Mookie Betts, Boston Red Sox (fourth-best MLB season by wins above replacement since 2000)
In a year that featured a number of standout performances, none was better than that of Boston’s 26-year-old right fielder. Betts earned American League MVP honors by becoming just the fifth player of the 21st century to crack 10.0 WAR in a single season — and he was the rare player to outduel WAR machine Mike Trout for the top slot in the league. Add in Boston’s World Series victory (which Betts punctuated with a home run in the clinching contest), and Betts had himself a year for the ages in 2018.
The best MLB, NBA and NFL players of 2018
Top players of the 2018 calendar year, based on relative value metrics compared with other player-seasons in the same sport since 2000
rank Season Player Sport Value Metric Relative Rank Since 2000 1 2018 Mookie Betts MLB 10.6 WAR 4 2 2018-19* Patrick Mahomes NFL 21 AV 5 3 2018 Mike Trout MLB 10.0 WAR 9 4 2018 Jacob deGrom MLB 9.6 WAR 15 5 2017-18 LeBron James NBA 22.5 mWS† 19 6 2017-18 James Harden NBA 21.2 mWS† 24 7 2018-19* Drew Brees NFL 19 AV 29 8 2018-19* James Harden NBA 20.4 mWS† 30 9 2018 Max Scherzer MLB 8.7 WAR 34 10 2018-19* Anthony Davis NBA 19.1 mWS† 39
* Current season still in progress
† mWS = Modified Win Shares, a version of win share that also blends in a player’s VORP and PER to create a consensus statistical ranking
Players qualified if their season either started or ended in 2018. NFL rankings include only skill-position statistics.
Sources: Baseball-Reference, FanGraphs, Pro-Football-Reference, Basketball-Reference
NFL MVP favorite Patrick Mahomes was a very close second behind Betts, having produced one of the top individual skill-position seasons of the millennium while leading the Kansas City Chiefs’ explosive offense. (And he’s still going, of course.) Behind Mahomes is a mix of familiar names — Trout, LeBron James — and players whose award-winning 2018 performances propelled them into historic territory, such as Mets ace Jacob deGrom and Rockets star James Harden.
Mahomes’s season isn’t the only great individual campaign still unfolding. Saints QB Drew Brees has also produced MVP-type numbers, though they have flagged a bit since the end of November. And amid speculation about where he might play next, Anthony Davis currently leads the NBA in win shares and player efficiency rating, while ranking second in value over replacement player. Finally, despite Houston’s disappointing start, Harden has quietly been playing nearly as well as he did last season, leading the league in VORP.
Still, this is a case where the limits of our analysis — leagues for which we have Elo ratings — miss a lot. If you expand the search beyond the sports in which we track Elo, as ESPN’s Peter Keating did, American gymnast Simone Biles would give Betts a run for the No. 1 slot. In 2018, Biles won gold in every category at the U.S. championships, then fought off a kidney stone to win four more golds (plus a silver and a bronze) at the World Championships. Between Biles’s stellar performance and those of snowboarder Chloe Kim, WNBA star Breanna Stewart, top-ranked golfer Ariya Jutanugarn and swimmer (and FiveThirtyEight favorite) Katie Ledecky, we saw an outstanding crop of dominant female athletes this year.
Biggest upset of 2018
Baltimore Orioles 10, Boston Red Sox 3 — Sept. 26 (No. 1 upset in MLB since 2000)
It’s fitting that the top upset of the year featured our worst team of 2018, the Baltimore Orioles, beating the best, the Boston Red Sox. In baseball, most games are pretty close to a coin flip, with only the most extreme mismatches (usually aided by a disparate starting-pitching matchup) straying very far from 50-50. But in the second leg of a late-season double-header, the Red Sox sent staff ace Chris Sale to the hill against rookie Jimmy Yacabonis. Boston was looking for its 108th win of the season; Baltimore was looking to avoid loss No. 113. Going into the game, our pitcher-adjusted Elo model gave the O’s a mere 18.8 percent chance of winning. And yet, Baltimore hung seven runs on the Sox bullpen in the last three innings (including four on closer Craig Kimbrel) to break a 3-3 tie and seal the historic upset.
It was one of four upsets in 2018 that ranked among baseball’s 10 most improbable since 2000, helping MLB dominate the upset ranking below.2
Elo’s biggest upsets of 2018
Top upsets of the 2018 calendar year among sports with Elo ratings, based on winners with the lowest Elo-generated pregame win probabilities, compared with other upsets in the same sport since 2000

MLB pregame win probabilities take into account the starting pitchers for each team in a given matchup.
Sources: Baseball-Reference, FanGraphs, Pro-Football-Reference, Basketball-Reference
Now, I know what you’re all thinking: The first 16-over-1 win in NCAA men’s tournament history isn’t the top upset of the year? Perhaps surprisingly, Maryland-Baltimore County’s stunner over Virginia — which had a 2.5 percent probability of happening, according to Elo — was only the sixth-biggest college basketball upset of the 2017-18 season alone. (In terms of raw upset odds, St. John’s knocking off Villanova was about 23 percent less likely.) But it’s still a fair point; there are a ton of random regular-season upsets every year, but far fewer come in the postseason. So here’s a version of the ranking above that looks solely at playoff upsets (excluding the College Football Playoff, which has existed only since 2014):
Elo’s biggest playoff upsets of 2018
Top postseason upsets of the 2018 calendar year, based on winners with the lowest Elo-generated pregame win probabilities, compared with other playoff upsets in the same sport since 2000
Sport Date Underdog Favorite Pregame Win prob. Rel. Rank Since 2000 1 CBB March 16 UMBC Virginia 2.5% 2 2 NFL Jan. 14 Jacksonville Pittsburgh 24.3 3 3 NFL Jan. 6 Tennessee Kansas City 24.8 4 4 MLB Oct. 7 Atlanta L.A. Dodgers 35.3 10 5 NBA April 16 Miami Philadelphia 17.7 10 6 CBB March 16 Marshall Wichita St. 12.9 13 7 NBA May 14 Golden State Houston 21.7 25 8 NBA May 1 Cleveland Toronto 21.8 27 9 NBA May 3 Cleveland Toronto 23.3 33 10 CBB March 18 Texas A&M North Carolina 19.5 36
Among teams in MLB, the NFL, the NBA and NCAA men’s basketball. College football upsets weren’t included in the ranking because the College Football Playoff has existed only since 2014.
Sources: Baseball-Reference, FanGraphs, Pro-Football-Reference, Basketball-Reference
After making that change, we do see UMBC’s win rise to the top of the list as the most impressive postseason upset of the year. In fact, it was a pretty good year for underdogs all around, from the Philadelphia Eagles’ dog mask-fueled Super Bowl victory to the Vegas Golden Knights’ Stanley Cup Final run as an expansion team (and 200-1 title shot).
While the Warriors won again and baseball’s best got even better, there was still room in 2018 for plenty of surprises and inspiring performances. Here’s hoping 2019 brings fans even more moments to enjoy on the fields, courts, rinks and everywhere else our favorite games are played.

JAKARTA, Indonesia | Tottenham's Son avoids military duty with Asian Games gold
New Post has been published on https://is.gd/iwx93r
JAKARTA, Indonesia | Tottenham's Son avoids military duty with Asian Games gold
JAKARTA, Indonesia — Tottenham forward Son Heung-min will get to skip military service.
Son avoided the service obligation when South Korea defeated Japan 2-1 in the Asian Games gold medal soccer game on Saturday.
The South Korean government rewards holders of Asian Games gold medals and all Olympic medals with the exemption. Military service is compulsory for South Korean males, and the 26-year-old Son would have faced at least 21 months of service and the loss of millions in income.
Son ran wildly onto the field at the end, hugging teammates with hundreds of South Korea flags flying.
With the match in extra time after 0-0 in regulation, Son got the break he wanted from teammate Lee Seung-woo.
In the 93rd minute, Son broke toward the middle and shuffled a pass to Lee, who drove the ball with his left foot into the top of the net.
He immediately posed atop sign boards alongside the edge of the field, celebrating his minute of glory.
South Korea clinched it eight minutes later on a leaping header inside the far post from Hwang Hee-chan. The 101st-minute goal prompted Son to embrace South Korean coach Kim Hak-bum on the sidelines.
Japan’s Ayase Ueda scored on a header with five minutes left to make it close.
South Korea had 65 percent of the possession in regulation time, and had a wide edge in shots, and shots-on goal.
Son almost got the winning goal himself, but his shot just seconds into extra time sailed inches wide of the far post.
Saturday was the last full day of competition at the Asian Games with only one medal event on Sunday — mixed triathlon. The closing ceremony is also Sunday.
China, Japan and South Korea — as always — dominated. But several other nations are closing ground slowly, making the Big Three not quite as dominant.
China had 289 overall, with 132 gold, 92 silver and 65 bronze. Japan won 204 (74-56-74) and South Korea had 176 (49-57-70). They were followed in the gold-medal ranking order by: Indonesia (31), Uzbekistan (21), Iran (20) and Taiwan (17). India and Kazakhstan each had 15.
Japan came up short as South Korea won gold in baseball with a 3-0 victory. In the bronze medal game, Taiwan pummeled China 10-0.
China won women’s basketball, defeating the combined Koreas women’s team 71-65. Shao Ting topped China’s scorers with 17 points. Lim Yunghui was the top Korean scorer with 24. Park Ji-su had 15.
“I still believe that we could have gotten a gold medal if we had enough practice time,” Park, the WNBA star, said through an interpreter. “We just trained as a combined team for a month.”
The women’s squad included nine South Koreans and three from North Korea.
Dragon boat races delivered a gold medal and two bronze medals for the combined Koreas teams during the games — the feel-good story of the Asian Games.
China’s men’s basketball team also took gold, defeating Iran 84-72.
As expected, China swept all five gold medals in table tennis at the Asian Games including the two singles finals on Saturday. Both finals were all-China finals.
Fan Zhendong defeated Lin Gaoyuan in the men’s final, and for the women Chen Meng beat Wang Manyu.
China beat Thailand 3-0 in the women’s volleyball final, and on the men’s side Iran defeated South Korea 3-0.
Kazakhstan defeated Japan 8-7 to take the men’s gold in water polo.
Japan beat China 7-5 to take gold in women’s rugby 7s, and Hong Kong won gold in the men’s version, beating Japan 14-0.
Japan defeated Malaysia in men’s hockey, winning a shootout 3-1 after the match was tied 6-6.
