Personal Wizard101 Headcannons

The dorms, while separated by gender, are psudeo tardis like inside but it's more of like the floors extend really far upwards. Each floor is sorted like by like five people per floor and you've got like an older wizard RA to help out

There's a dining hall in the lower part of the city but my other hc is that there is food carts in olde town

The younger wizards are told what school they'll fall under inside of Bartelby where they get like lil care baskets that have the baby wizard base gear

Also like, I like to headcannon that you can pick out the gaggles of new students because they stick together.

Uh the. Did track in high school and college and has won a handful of marathons in Sky City. Is a "does a 6am jog every day and how are you that chipper" kind of guy

Has really steady hands (i cant say this w out sounding like a faggot i think) and thats why he was the one messing w the synth and not like. Duck (she tends towards more being  heavy handed) also because of this, often does stuff for Varkoz because the mans hands shake a lot.

Met Duck in college, they're also really close. He was the one to introduce her and Wilma

tag yourselves: w101 school edition

(I’m almost 100% sure someone has done this before, but this is just my interpretation of it. If you don’t know what a ‘tag yourself’ is, it’s like ‘aesthetics’ for each of the schools or feelings/things they would do/have.)

FIRE: being perfectly warm under your covers when it’s cold outside. the noise a match makes when it lights. sparklers. fireworks. light streaming through the windows in the morning. lighting a car on fire in anger. huge candles everywhere. being overexcited about flames. the sun. golden hour. waiting for someone to crack. striving for excellence. always being warm. touching the cool glass. barbecues. being passionate. always energetic, like you’re drawing energy from the sun itself. forcing yourself to calm down/give up because it goes against your nature. 

ICE: flipping your pillow over to get the cool side. being able to take an intense amount of insults without snapping. having cold skin. never getting cold in the winter. staying calm and collected before snapping and hitting someone on the face. defending your friends. having the ability to diffuse any damage towards you. fresh morning air and the bright white snow. waking up too early when it’s still dark outside. keeping beautiful flowers and different shades of pale pastel colours. ice cream in winter. being able to manage a busy schedule.

STORM: bragging about test scores. asking everyone else, ‘what did you get?’. hair that gleams perfectly in the afternoon light. being able to hear the buzz of fluorescent lights when someone turns it on. somehow fixing every single technical problem. typing quickly. narrowed eyes and shallow breathing. knowing how to hide in a lot of different ways. flicking lights on and off. groaning loudly when the power goes off, and not wanting to have to deal with it. never having to deal with the insurance companies. always remembering to charge your phone. knowing your way around every website. liking the rain. being fascinated by lightning. 

MYTH: greek mythology. roman mythology. egyptian mythology. every kind of lore that exists sitting on your bookshelf. keeping more than one clock in your room. baking cakes at 3 am. two necklaces, one with a lock and one with a key. keeping your own secrets. asking precise questions. stopped clocks. golden watches you check all the time. always knowing the answer, as long as you’ve paid attention. rationalizing. having favors you can always call on. being able to hold your own, but working better with another person. imagination.

LIFE: healing quickly. liking sciences. looking out towards the sky and getting distracted when you’re working. cracking your neck when you wake up. blinking either too much or not enough. peeling a bandaid back. knowing the difference between soft tissues and soft tissues. being the mom friend. trusting people easily. breaking off pieces of soft cakes with your fingers. hiding underneath too many blankets. laughter. dragging people out at 2am to look at the stars. knowing how beautiful people are inside. crying secretly and quietly and wiping the tears away. always smiling.

DEATH: a weird fascination with graveyards. moths over butterflies. understanding when someone passes. feeling grief but also knowing they’re in a better place. having an appreciation for how short your life is. black and white. photography during an inconvenient time. closing the curtains when you take a nap. dark themes and photos, but still upbeat. keeping to yourself and a small group of friends. finding it difficult to trust people. fantasy and horror novels. black timberlands. defying stereotypes. smiling when people smile. antisocial social club.

BALANCE: slants and straight lines. being the hype person for other people. looking upwards thoughtfully. being able to read something once and remember it. waiting till someone proves themselves trustworthy to tell them anything. trying to find public wifi before remembering you have data. hourglasses. subtle smiles. symmetrical drawings. dark chocolate. appreciating the law, but also struggling to care about it. biting your lip for no reason. a slight tan. lots of colours toned down slightly. listening to soundtracks instead of lyrical songs. real, achievable expectations for others, but high goals for yourself. being afraid of your own power. fearing failure.

what does the thrum of healing feel to each of the schools? 

life students know full well the extent of their magic - how they can feel their own needle and thread upon their skin; how intimate and tender it is to feel your magic trickle down their throat and chest. how honeyed and sweet the experience is, to heal the ones you love. you can almost feel the light airiness of the wind and its leaves as it blows through you, rustling clothes and warming hands, gently. 

fire students, full of passion and brimming with raw energy; their magic is too bright, too hot, to coax the song of creation to do their bidding correctly. it feels akin to the burning sun on a miserably hot day, but also of the warmth of the sunset as the end comes to a tepid, humid day of an august summer . their hands feel cold as ice as they part from your wound, and it stings and throbs as they melt and mold your skin to its former shape - but their hands are familiar and warm. they would never hurt you intentionally. 

balance students are well-acquainted with the song of creation and all its forms - their own chords and verses are a reflection of that. the gentle clacking of wind chimes, the crisp refreshness of water when you’re thirsty. like theurgists, you may feel the pull and tug of needle on thread, but it allows itself to pull smoother through your wounds -- like the evershifting sands of a desert, smooth and eternal. 

ice students have never gotten to intimately know the ways around the sound of creation and the form it takes in its theurgists - the ice has built them sturdy bodies to last them a dozen winter lifetimes. their healing is dulled, sweeping through them a sensation of being submerged into the icy depths of an ocean. their magic is the frosbite biting at their fingertips, with the sudden flush of life magic, warmth burns almost unbearably through them. the aftermath leaves you sensitive, tracing out where cold fingers once traced your wound. 

myth students take on the burden on your own wounds - almost a phantom sensation as their hands work to allow their magic to flow into you. life and myth often draws on both dreaming aspects, creative aspects - conjurers may have a better time imagining the threadwork of a theurgist colleague, allow it to flow through them in a vague copy. their healing feels crisp and tight, like the sharp sound of a hardcover book, or the crinkling of book pages as they press against one another. they can never get it quite right, however - it always leaves a vague after taste that cannot be precisely based. 

death students are intimately intertwined with life as life is so intimately intertwined with death -- a cycle of birth and death, they are not opposites, but rather, equals. while necromancers are familiar with the concept of healing, that doesn’t always extend to the thought of other people. their healing feels almost stilted -- the crunch of dead leaves in the middle of the night, a puzzle piece being forced into the wrong spot. the rituals they perform are unlike the song of creation, as you feel cold hands (not of your own) sweep through you, chilling you down to the bone. and as your wounds heal, you get the sense that something is missing.

storm students do not know about healing and of creating - their magic lies in destruction. however, if the opportunity to heal arises, their magic feels like a static shock to the skin, the run of electricity that shoots through your tongue and down your throat, alighting nerves you never thought possible. your body thrums with an energy not seen before - but there comes with it a price. at their core they are not a healing school, so whatever wound tending you tend to get from diviners do not always mend the wound right, or perhaps not even all the way through. such is the life of a student of storm, but it is the thought that counts.

Impulse control? I don’t know her.

Does things based on emotion rather than what they think would be fun or give instant gratification.

Only does homework if it’s interesting. Halston and Dalia know better than to base grades on any homework.

Very insecure about being annoying. Tend to tone down their personality because of this.

Not great with spells that do damage over time.

If they don’t care about something, it will be forgotten almost immediately.

If they truly connect with fire magic, their tempest spell can become a sea of lava, ash raining from above, molten rock rising up, looming, and even though most creatures wouldn’t have to touch the lava for it to kill them, the wave of lava still rises, only to slam down, giving the sensation of being crushed before dissipating.

Hiya! I'd be interested to see headcanons for Myth with Balance secondary when you have time.

The thing is, conjurers with balance secondaries are just plain tired. 

They’ve been morphed from an innocent, eager to learn novice to a cynical wreck of a wizard who hates studying. 

So what do they do? Probably sign up for a tour of the balance school in Krokotopia. Why? Because it means a whole week of no actual school and plenty of opportunity for relaxing in the sun. 

They probably stay for way too long. But hey, they’ve got a super good tan (if they can tan), and they’ve picked up some balance magic. 

When they finally come back, with all the faux confidence of someone who slept in and came to class an hour late with an iced coffee in hand, they learn some great news. 

Professor Drake has to cut down on their homework so they can study their secondary. 

They’re super smug about this but don’t tell other conjurers because half of them probably cheated off their work at some point and their competitive streak is dangerously large. 

They’re more fun to be around now, and they love telling the younger wizards about their adventures in Krok. They become friends with Arthur Wethersfeild and tutor the young sorcerers, assisting any who have secondaries in myth and helping them cope.

They’re not great at healing, but they try anyway!! They enjoy being able to help out their teammates, or keep their minions around longer. 

Their sandstorms are a bit more powerful than they should be. Chunks of rock churn around in the storm, launching the rubble into their enemies with a terrifying precision. 

They’re just a calmer person now . They don’t worry about assignments or people’s opinions, because now they’re more at peace. They understand that their path is to know and learn from the past, and strive to make the present and future more just for people like themself.

Death with fire secondary headcanons?

The necromancers with fire secondaries are… energetic to say the least. The slow, almost grueling pace of death magic can make them impatient, and a poor necromancer.

With competitive streaks a mile wide, they look for another kind of magic that proves their strength as a wizard. Something that shows they can do well. 

They’re usually prideful of their work, and won’t stop until they prove their less than supportive peers in the fire school wrong.  

Usually when they start learning, they’re… not that great, to be honest. It’s all the doom and gloom, the heavy darkness of their magic that dampens the flame. They have to nurture that warmth, give it their strength and power and determination. They have to prove themself, and some day they’ll be holding that flame in the palms of their hands even in the darkest shadows. 

Sometimes they channel more dangerous emotions, their anger and jealousy and grief. Then, the fire in their spells goes dark. It becomes a flowing black river of flame, incinerating their opponents and anything that is in their way until nothing is left but ash and bone, and sometimes they’re too glad to have won to feel guilt.

When they cast poison, it doesn’t feel the same anymore. Instead of a chilling pain that spreads, the slow draw of death coming ever closer, now it burns. Now they feel it in their stomach and their throat, they claw at their mouth or what is close enough to it, and if they’re lucky enough for it to kill them, they will burn from the inside out, leaving nothing but a hollow, charred corpse, like the skeleton of a house ravaged by wildfires.

Can I request Myth with secondary death headcanons?

Myth students with a death secondary are those quiet ones you never expect. 

Usually it starts off with them being curious. Maybe it was a project where they had to research some death magic, maybe it was a necromancer friend or a friend with a death secondary. 

They find their way into NightSide, and tend to find their way into the library.

And they’re amazed. 

There’s so much information hidden away from the surface of Wizard City, and hiding knowledge is criminal to most conjurers. They find histories that were left to rot, they find new and old things that make their whole world change. 

The myth wizard always, always finds the death magic. The rituals that turn back time, the ones that revive long dead legends. 

That’s when they find Dworgyn, and enroll in some classes. 

Their trolls are always rotting, almost seconds from falling apart. 

Their earthquakes whisper with a dark and dangerous magic, one that rumbles until it settles deep in their enemy’s bones, causing a certain dread as their blades crack and fade. 

They never quite get the hang of the sacrificial magic, but they always excel at summoning creatures, whether they be spells to fight, or allies. 

Sometimes they wander through the NightSide library, and their fingers trail along the spines of books as they walk, until they find that first book they picked up.

They wipe the dust off the cover, and begin to read again.

I’m not sure if you’ve already done this but, I was wondering if you could do headcanons for Wizards who are LGBT? I myself am a lesbian who enjoys wizard101 a lot and it would be awesome if you could do that ❤️

everyone in the spiral is queer in some way and as a queer person i say it so it’s law. 

especially if you pick astral schools. thats some gay energy I can’t even begin to describe. 

idk its hard to do serious hcs bc like! I just think that most people in the spiral are queer somehow!! magic doesn’t change love, it stays the same. Doesn’t change identity, except maybe makin it easier to express in ways! Doesn’t change !! magic just makes it more glittery and even more perfect to be queer!!

I can list headcanons for specific npcs if y’all want, but I really just love the idea of like 90% of them being queer. because this is my viddy game and I control the headcanon.
