so it isn’t as much about racism (NOT RULING THIS OUT THOUGH) as it is about America and American pop culture + trends and American being synonymous with “white”…I see.

I’ve seen “white approved” come up multiple times with desi anons when trying to explain/rationalize why she’s so popular. I think this is definitely part of the legacy of British colonization and white supremacy playing out in India.

But this is basically proof to me that Taylor Swift’s popularity in nonwestern countries is because of these countries obsession with whiteness and not her, and she benefits from this immensely.
