i’m taking a class on post-civil war history and every single page of this textbook brings up extreme anguish and grief for all the black people brutally tortured, raped, and murdered so that this country can be built on their graves.

there is a large picture in one chapter of laura nelson and her teenage son hanging from on a oklahoma bridge as around 50 white people stand on the bridge, cheering and drinking and laughing. this was in 1911. mrs nelson and her son were accused of killing a cop who forcibly entered their farm with no warrant under the pretence that the nelsons were suspected of theft of livestock by a white neighbor.

In (late) celebration of the 30th anniversary of Timothy McVeigh's Oklahoma City Bombing, here are some of my thoughts about the event. This is a pretty rough and unorganized compilation of my thoughts about him and society and the government and shit.

First of all, yes I idolize McVeigh, so this is biased. No I do not have any homemade bombs. Do not report me to the feds I will find you.

I consider McVeigh an American patriot. A hero that gave his life, sacrificing his future and reputation to open our eyes to our overbearing government. Ruby Ridge was a horrific completely avoidable tragedy. Waco was a disgusting display of power against an insignificant irrelevant religious group.

McVeigh was not a psychopath. Or a sociopath or a sperg or schizotypal or any other label people want to pin on him to box him into a separate mentally ill category. He was not abused as a child or severely traumatized. Psychologists, government officials, and ignorant bystanders want to fit criminals, especially terrorists, into neat little boxes so they can unburden themselves with the consideration of his actions and motives. If McVeigh is evil, mentally ill, hateful, and all around deviant, then you don't need to worry about your "normal" neighbor, friend, or brother being like him. You don't need to worry about what he believed or why he made his sacrifice.

People want to think he had a reason. If you can find a reason then you can prevent it. If Eric Harris was a psychopath, then we don't need to worry about adolescent mental health or bullying in schools, we just need to look out for psychopaths. If McVeigh was a psychopathic loner white supremacist, then we don't need to think about his political views or experiences. We just need to look out for disaffected young men that criticize the government. We don't care what Hitler thought about smoking because he was evil and therefore can not have valuable opinions.

McVeigh loved America. He loved this country enough to join the army and fight in a war he didn't believe in. He loved this country enough to care about the treatment of undesirable and cast away citizens. He loved this country enough to sacrifice 168 of his fellow men to bring awareness to the cruelty and overreach of our government.

McVeigh hated bullying. Being unpopular throughout his life opened him to be a victim of bullying. He served in the gulf war and saw a scene not unlike what he experienced in his youth. A more powerful entity forcing his will on a smaller weaker victim. He heard about Ruby Ridge and witnessed Waco with his own eyes and again saw the truth: the government is a bully. Plain and simple.

Yet we stayed blind. We accepted propaganda that he was deranged and hateful. We let the rage for Ruby Ridge and Waco dissipate and be reformed into hate for evil mass murdering youth and then zealous middle eastern terrorists. We didn't keep McVeigh in our consciousness and look what resulted. The PATRIOT act stripped Americans of privacy. The three letter agencies continue to frame innocent citizens and direct public opinion to their will. These days your information is collected and exchanged by China and our own government to ensure you buy more, scroll more, and think less. Our gun rights are being stripped because of the tragic actions of a disaffected few.

Honor McVeigh. Next time you see the government invade your privacy, steal the rights of your fellow citizen, and manipulate our knowledge, thank McVeigh for trying to wake us up. When your government rapes your rights, perverts your freedom, don't sit back and watch it happen. Buy a gun. Be self sufficient. Think for yourself.

Transphobia is so often transmisogyny since the focus tends to be on transwomen rather than transmen. Whether it's transwomen shouldn't be allowed to compete on women's sports teams since they have an unfair advantage, or they are danger in women's bathrooms.

As for the first claim, the argument is also based on the blatantly sexist premise that men are inherently superior to women in athletics. As to the second claim, do they honestly think a sign on the door is going to change a sex predator's behavior? Banning trans people from the bathrooms of the genders they identify with not only doesn’t generally protect anyone, but actually does the opposite given trans teens forced to use the restrooms of their assigned gender at birth suffer a sexual assault rate of 36%. Protecting women somehow never includes trans women with these people or even the trans men.

Just note how restrictive their definition of a woman is compared to that of a man. According to them a man can be a cis-man, an intersex woman with a vulva but has testes, or even a woman with a vulva and ovaries but has a higher level of testosterone compared to the average woman like the Olympic athlete Imane Khelif. However, a woman must always be a cis-woman with the right amount of hormones and fits a certain physical description.

As to the example with Imane, Rowling's definition of a women is "people who menstruate", and yet Imane fit that definition but that wasn't enough for Rowling apparently. Add the dimension of race and ethnicity, then it's not surprising that all the cis-women affected by these anti-trans rules are women of color. I wish her luck in her lawsuit against Rowling.

The ties of transphobia to the idea of white supremacy are already apparent with white supremacists groups like Proud Boys and neo-Nazis showing up at an anti-trans rally in Melbourne, protesting at a “Rock-n-Roll Humanist Drag Queen Story Hour,” at a library in Wadsworth, OH and harassing a drag brunch at Landgrant Brewing in the neighboring city of Columbus. It’s not new for Nazis either given the first books burned by the original Nazis in Germany were books on homosexuality, intersex and transgender issues of the Institute for Sexual Research, the world’s first trans clinic that marked the first time a transwoman underwent sexual reassignment surgery.

Hell, a lot of these transphobic folks when tend to be right-wingers fighting against women's rights like the Republican Party in the US trying to ban abortion alongside their anti-trans legislation. They also include the likes of pro-natalist and sexual harasser Elon Musk who exposed himself to and propositioned an employee and Andrew Tate.

Perhaps, it's not a good idea to leave the definition of women to men who define women by their ability to provide them with sex and serve as broodmares. It's why so much of the focus seems to be on transwomen.

Fliers denigrating Jews were strewn around Squirrel Hill, and residents were reportedly targeted with antisemitic epithets, the latest antisemitic incident in the neighborhood that suffered the 2018 Tree of Life synagogue shooting.

The fliers were reportedly thrown from a moving vehicle, according to Pittsburgh Police. Police said the fliers were in clear bags weighed with corn kernels so that they could be thrown effectively.

One of the fliers read, “Every single aspect of the Jewish Talmud is satanic,” according to a photo shared by Corey O’Connor, the county comptroller and a candidate for Pittsburgh mayor.

The flier included quotes cherry-picked from the Talmud — a vast compendium of ancient rabbinic debates over Jewish law and tradition — that aim to show Jewish discrimination against non-Jews. Pulling quotes from the Talmud to depict Jews in a negative light is an age-old antisemitic mainstay.

“Despicable antisemitic acts like those taking place in Squirrel Hill today have no place in our city,” O’Connor tweeted.

The suspects were not immediately identified by police, but the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh attributed the actions to the Goyim Defense League, a white supremacist group. The federation also said the driver hurled antisemitic slurs at local Jews.

“This kind of hate has no place in our neighborhoods,” said Laura Cherner, director of the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh’s Community Relations Council, in a statement. “Our community is strong, united and we will stand together to oppose these vile actions.”

A recent report from the Anti-Defamation League found that the Goyim Defense League was one of three white supremacist groups that were collectively responsible for 94% of all antisemitic propaganda in 2024.

“Antisemitic materials that were distributed in parts of Squirrel Hill today are reprehensible and have no place in Pittsburgh,” said Pittsburgh Mayor Ed Gainey in a statement. “We will not stand for such hateful acts meant to intimidate our neighbors.”

Distributing fliers has been a common tactic of antisemitic groups in recent years. Shortly after the synagogue shooting in 2018, the deadliest antisemitic attack in American history, Squirrel Hill was hit with antisemitic fliers.

More recently, last July, an inverted red triangle, a symbol used by Hamas that has been adopted by pro-Palestinian protesters, was painted on the neighborhood Chabad center, close to the site of the shooting.

Last week, several Jewish organizations in Las Vegas also received threatening, antisemitic letters, sparking safety concerns. The local Jewish federation responded to the letters in a post on instagram, calling for community members to “stay vigilant with incoming mail.”

One organization that received a letter, Friendship Circle Las Vegas, is a Jewish program that connects volunteers with children and young adults with special needs.

Its executive director, Rabbi Levi Harlig, posted a photo of the letter on Instagram. It read: “To all Zionist Jews stay out of our valley. We will destroy your synagogues Hamas lives on you all burn in hell.”

“The irony of this hateful letter? It was sent to our nonprofit—an organization built on inclusion, love, and friendship,” wrote Harlig in the caption next to the photo. “But we’re not afraid. So in 1958, the city of Huntsville offered Willie $900 for the portion of land that included the whale. That's only about $9,000 today.

So, of course, Willie was like, “Nah, you can't have my land.”

So in typical white supremacist fashion, they condemned the land and considered it uninhabitable and unsafe.

Since he wasn't able to live in the house at that moment and still needed to provide for his family, Willie began sharecropping at various homes in the area. One particular place was described as a house in the woods. And while they lived in these homes, they never received any mail from the city.

At the same time, the city was actively attempting to confiscate the land that Willie still owned. Now, that land is this, and this right here, too.

Premise of a spin-off Saw movie:

Eight superfans of Jigsaw wake up in an abandoned warehouse, unsure how they got there. They soon learn they’ve been kidnapped by “Jigsaw”. However, they’re not there to be tested. Instead, they will compete to be his next apprentice. Those who fail his tests will be put in a Saw trap and the sole survivor will become the next Jigsaw apprentice. The victims, being Jigsaw superfans, immediately agree to be part of the contest, even if it means they might lose their life.

The twist is that “Jigsaw” is actually Melissa Sing (played by Sheri Moon Zombie), the widow of the late Steven Sing. Some time after John Kramer’s death, she’s been kidnapping Jigsaw’s superfans/followers and putting them through Saw-style traps as a way of avenging her husband. The reason why she created this fake contest was to determine which of the 8 superfans was the most devout to the Jigsaw ideology. Their prize? Being placed in the most gruesome of the traps she invented.

Trap 3: The test subject must drink a disgusting substance in under 3 minutes without vomiting. If they don’t finish the vial in time, the device they’re strapped to will slice their stomach open (the device is directly compared to seppuku). The subject for this trap is the Instagram model who is “in love” with John Kramer (played by Ella Purnell). The test was that the victims must prove they have engineering talent to build traps, which means the Instagram model made the least impressive device.

First of all, I’m anti-America not anti-American. This country is wicked from its foundation, on an institutional level. Which I do lot deny and speak about honestly.

I like Americans, I know, crazy. We’re a resilient people, fundamental good resides in most of us. I believe that about all of humanity but Americans are who I know. I love my neighbors. I love my community. The people I love live here, mainly. I wish the best for all of us. I think we deserve to live lives without constant fear of violence and political unrest, with access to resources without discrimination. We are all done a disservice by this country, not in equal measures, mind you. I want to make this country a better place. I do not consider myself a patriot, not a nationalist, I swear fealty to the people and landscape around me.

You’re right, it is hypocrisy to lash out at people who speak negatively about the establishment I despise. It isn’t productive. It’s a knee-jerk reaction. It is extremely frustrating to see people from other countries, mainly Europeans, some Canadians, mock American society for problems that permeate their own government and culture that they refuse to address. Because it is easier to condemn stupid Americans than it is to begin to acknowledge that their country is built on the same white supremacist ideals, that the picturesque stately homes that dot their countryside largely would not exist if not for colonization and slavery. It is easier to imply that Americans deserve to live in constant fear of gun violence and homelessness for their own stupidity than it is to have a deeper compassion for the American people, than to admit that what is happening to us could possibly happen to them. They are not in any meaningful way helping us, they are not helping themselves, not their countrymen.

Europeans, if you think that the people of your country are smarter than Americans, are more enlightened, less bigoted, less violent, more rational, I beg you to look around. I beg you to witness Italy and it’s current slide back into fascism, I beg you to look at the antisemitism rising in Germany once more. I beg you to address the xenophobia in your own country, to look at the transphobia, the malefactors sneaking into your government to roll back your rights and resources.
