lines in atyd that broke me:
James sighed. He ran his fingers through his hair again. He’d be bald before he saw thirty, Remus thought.
He's in trouble. Please help. R.A.B.
“I didn’t become a teacher for this.”
“This wouldn’t happen to you, would it? Because you’ve got us.”
For years and years afterwards, once the agony of all those funerals and obituaries and memorials and speeches had faded, Remus would be left with memories of his last months at Hogwarts, when they had been stupid and naive and indescribably happy without even knowing it.
Yasmin was not mentioned at all, though Sirius told Remus they were found lying beside each other, and their fingers were still touching.
2nd November 1981. The portkey had closed, and Remus couldn’t get in touch with anyone.
Grant had worked hard to keep the softest parts of Remus safe. And he had; he’d done a good job.
#honorable mention from the author’s notes: ‘Fair warning - The next two chapters will cover June - November 1981.’#honestly just chapters 171-188 in their entirety#i’ve cried more in the last 72 hours than I think I have all year#atyd#atyd quotes#all the young dudes#remus lupin#sirius black#james potter#minerva mcgonagall#marlene mckinnon#atyd grant#marauders#harry potter#hp#fanfic#ao3#mskingbean89

it’s spooky season and i am once again appalled at the lack of arthurian horror.
all those incomprehensible creatures and sisyphean quests and horrific deaths yet not a single novel or film or show to satiate me? violence alone is not enough. i need our hero in steel to curl up into a ball and sob about the situation or it’s not scary. honorable mention to excalibur (1981). kissing it on the forehead and tucking into bed. not you sweetie i mean something else.

Obviously, if you want to count any of the other "duo" protagonists in the films (ie, Tramp, Perdita, Maid Marian, O'Malley, etc), be my guest. I just simply listed the ones whom I consider to the main animal leads of their respective movies.
Also, I threw in Winnie-the-Pooh because, yes, he's technically a toy, but the narrative always calls him a "bear of very little brain." Also, I think he's a good "wild card" lmao
Happy voting! ❤

TV stories where the Doctor has only male companions
Because there are so few of them
We’ll start with the ones that have regular series companions:
The Massacre (1966): 1st Doctor and Steven. Yes, Dodo shows up at the very end, but that doesn’t count.
The Return of Doctor Mysterio (2016): 12th Doctor and Nardole, featuring Grant Gordon.
Yep, that’s it as far as I recall. If we expand our list to guest/recurring characters, we can include:
The Next Doctor (2008): 10th Doctor and Jackson Lake.
The End of Time (2010): 10th Doctor and Wilf, who is not a full-time companion.
Closing Time (2011): 11th Doctor and Craig. Amy is in this one, but only briefly, and not in the role of companion.
Then, if we include episodes that start with a male companion before bringing in a female companion partway through the story:
The Evil of the Daleks (1967): 2nd Doctor and Jamie, introducing Victoria.
The Wheel in Space (1968): 2nd Doctor and Jamie again, introducing Zoe.
The Keeper of Traken (1981): 4th Doctor and Adric, introducing Nyssa.
Planet of Fire (1984): 5th Doctor, Turlough, and Kamelion (man-shaped android), introducing Peri.
The Pilot (2016): 12th Doctor and Nardole, but Bill shows up pretty much immediately.
Honorable mentions:
The Ribos Operation (1978): Starts with the 4th Doctor and K-9. K-9 is voiced by a man, but he is a robot and, perhaps more importantly for the purposes of this list, a dog.
The Five Doctors (1983): There are plenty of female companions in this one, but the 2nd Doctor is initially paired up with the Brigadier.
The Two Doctors (1985): The 2nd Doctor starts the episode with Jamie before the two team up with the 6th Doctor and Peri.
The Lodger (2010): Amy is sometimes there over an earpiece, but this one is mostly the 11th Doctor and Craig.
A Christmas Carol (2010): See above, but with Kazran Sardick instead of Craig.
The Power of the Doctor (2022): This one gets a mention for having a same-sex TARDIS team for most of the story.
Interestingly, the trend of the lone female companion doesn’t start to emerge until the later years. It took nearly ten years for the Doctor to travel with a girl unchaperoned, if you count the boys from UNIT as companions. Then the show gradually transitioned to the “Doctor + girl” formula that’s the norm today.

Best Covers for Flash Villains, Part 2
The Pied Piper:
Flash vol. 2 #190 (2002):
Honorable mention to his first appearance, Flash vol. 1 #106 (1959):
Mirror Master (Sam Scudder):
This one was hard. Sam has so. many. covers.
But I don't think anything can beat Flash vol. 1 #146 (1964):
Mirror Master (Evan McCulloch):
Another case where the best cover isn't a Flash cover:
Animal Man #8 (1989).
His best Flash cover is Flash vol. 2 #133 (1998):
The covers from Flash vol. 2 #105 and Flash vol. 2 #212 both look weird to me, so neither one gets my vote.
Captain Boomerang (Digger Harkness):
There's lots of potentially great Suicide Squad covers, but here's my favorite Flash cover with Boomerang:
Flash vol. 1 #278 (1979).
Honorable Mention:
Batman #322 (1980)
The Top:
The best classic cover for Roscoe is Flash vol. 1 #219 (1973):
His best modern cover is Flash vol. 2 #216 (2005):
Honorable mention to Flash vol. 1 #303 (1981):
Not really good in the traditional sense, but this is always the first cover I think of when I think of the Top.
Golden Glider:
Her first appearance in Flash vol. 1 #250 (1977) is good, but my favorite cover for her is Flash vol. 1 #257 (1978):
Trickster (Axel Walker):
There aren't that many good Axel covers, really, so I'm going with Flash vol. 2 #183 (2002) by default:
Magenta:
Flash vol. 2 #170 (2001):
Inertia:
Impulse #53 (1999)
I thought about doing Geoff Johns' Rogues, like Murmur and Blacksmith, but none of them have more than 2 covers to choose from, so that seemed kind of pointless.
It doesn't help that the main cover most of them have, from Flash vol. 2 #184 (2002), is very unsettling (and not really in the way I think was intended):
Axel in particular looks way too old here.

@troublewithangels tagged me to do this in september but i completely forgot so i’m going to talk about my favorite first watches of october 💗. i chose the pumpkin eater (1964)—if you follow me on letterboxd this might be expected bc i wrote a multi-paragraphed barely coherent review at 8:30AM on a wednesday about how much i loved and was crushed by this movie, they all laughed (1981)—surprised by how much i enjoyed this one and i kind of fell in love with john ritter, ulzana’s raid (1972)—another film that came out of nowhere and blew me away. i didn’t expect too much from a 70s revisionist western by aldrich but it truly was a brilliant vietnam war allegory (and my old man’s in it), and blithe spirit (1945)—fucking LOVED it, but it’s pretty much tailor-made to my taste so that’s not a surprise. honorable mentions: road diary: bruce springsteen and the e street band (2024), corinna, corinna (1994), and across 110th street (1972).

List 7 comfort films and tag 7 people!
Tagged by @ihaventcomeupwthanameforaheroyet ! thanks!! I WROTE DOWN A FEW FAVS OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD (IN NO ORDER) AND HAD 9, SO, I THINK IWTV 1994 GOES WITHOUT SAYING LMFAO, ALSO HONORABLE MENTION TO AMERICAN PSYCHO BC IT MAKES ME LAUGH MY ASS OFF EVERY TIME BUT I ULTIMATELY CUT IT FROM THIS PRESITIGOUS LIST.
is it obnoxious if i put some pictures in the post too? Sorry I get really excited to talk about movies hkjdslgasd please don't feel obligated to put pictures in yours, I'm just being extra.
Terminator 2: Judgment Day [1991]
LISTEN I CRY EVERY FUCKING TIME it's just the best, ROBOT DADDY??? HOT MOMMY???? The T-1000 is so scary?? ALL THESE RIDICULOUS EPIC FIGHT SCENES AND THE ACTORS ARE JUST NOT EMOTING AT ALL BECAUSE THEY'RE ROBOTS? The director's cut with the extra scene where John is trying to teach the Terminator to smile and you realize when he does his little side smirk it's because he's copying John's smile, bc when he copied randos it didnt fit on his face?!??! Eddie Furlong's voice cracking which feels like such a happy accident because he's a weak little fragile human in contrast to the killing machine?? PLEASE.
Hellraiser [1987]
IT'S WEIRD, IT'S KINKY, IT'S GAY, IT'S CHEESY, IT'S GOT PRACTICAL EFFECTS THAT ARE KINDA COOL BUT KINDA STUPID, IT'S GOT THE GRAINY 80S COZY FEEL, IT'S GOT INCREDIBLE FEMALE SEXUALITY AND BAD ACTING, I JUST LOVE IT. It's just a movie I put on when I need to relax and wow it just makes me really happy ;.;
Pet Sematary [1989]
okay this one and the next one and the last one are all GRAINY 80S COZY FEEL, you have to understand that I grew up watching 80s horror from like the age of 5 so that flim look, the grain, the flat lighting, it just !!!!!!! gives me so much cozy fuzzy warmth for childhood and I just adore it. Anyway !!!!!!1 I LOVE THIS MOVIE SO MUCH it's so extremely dark and also extremely absurd, somehow it's so magnetic that you are immediately immersed even though it's got the aesthetic of a bad TV movie, it's just wonderful I adore it. ALSO a rare super faithful Stephen King adaptation!
An American Werewolf in London [1981]
PRACTICAL EFFECTS MY BELOVED!!!!!!!!11 blah blah cozy 80s, but also! FUNNY! ROMANTIC! TRAGIC! SCARY WHEN IT NEEDS TO BE! I'm so deeply deeply impressed by the practical effects in this film, too! But wow it's so good every time, the hot nurse in this movie is a crazy monsterfucker I adore her, it's a good Armand/Daniel AU, the end is a gut punch every fucking time, it's the best, a naked American man stole my balloons, etc. Absolutely perfect film.
Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain [2001]
VISUALLY STUNNING FILM ABOUT AN ASEXUAL WOMAN WITH SOCIAL ANXIETY, PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. I think this movie like, changed my life maybe? I think I saw it when I was 15 or so and it just had such a huge impact on me. I used to watch it so much I would just turn the subtitles off because I'd get distracted and didnt even need them anymore. It's a movie I used to bring with me when I traveled, like I brought the DVD with me when I studied abroad because I was so scared I'd have anxiety or get homesick, I just always wanted to be able to watch it if I need to. IF I WATCH THIS AT THE WRONG TIME OF THE MONTH I CRY MY EYES OUT which is cathartic in the end, idk if it's comfy or comforting but wow. but wow really amazing film it's so beautiful and had such a huge impact on my worldview and my creativity and the way I write and the way I do photography and just !!! ;.; I'm gonna cry!
The Departed [2006]
I really like it when Leo DiCaprio cries and he's not a super crybaby in his one but he does scream in pain and have the shit beat out of him and has panic attacks and needs anxiety meds! The cast is sick! The music is amazing! It's such cool storytelling!!! It's exciting every time! The ending fucks! GOD. Just wonderful, I love it so much. The Blu-ray starts over every time it ends so every time I watch it I tend to walk away and let it loop all day LOL. It's disgusting how many times I've watched it. ALSO MY BABE VERA FARMIGA WHAT A MILF god i love her.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall [2008]
this is like such a perfect comedy for my sense of humor, INCLUDING A BONUS DRACULA SUBPLOT CAN YOU BELIEVE IT, but is actually such a clever and lovely story about getting over heartbreak wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love this movie so fucking much oh my god. Also ever since I worked on ships I feel like especially potent to it because there's something about the social community within the resort that feels so much like the community of a cruise ship crew!! ;.;
Tagging (but no pressure!): @rugbertgoeshome @hekateinhell @mothmage @apoptoses @cup-of-lixx @somevagrantchild @covenofthearticulate

could you name a few yandere horror movies that have the slasher x final girl trope please
you said there's not a lot but i'm dying for reccs
SLIGHT SPOLIERS FOR THESE MOVIES but also almost all of them are like 10+ years old so--
Killer Actually In Love With Final Girl:
Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986)
Valentine (2001)
The Boy (2016)
Halloween Ends (2022)
Piggy (2022)
Phantom of the Opera (2004) ((yeah maybe he's not a slasher but he does kill/attempt to kill like 10 ppl so))
Killer Obsessed With Final Girl:
Halloween (1978)
Halloween (2007) ((familial yandere, not romantic))
Friday The 13th (2009) ((also familial yandere))
Candyman (1992) ((could be argued that he's actually in love with Helen too))
Prom Night (2008)
Final Girl With Stockholm Syndrome:
The Collection (2012) ((okay technically she's not a final girl but she's still a girl who the killer liked enough))
The Poughkeepsie Tapes (2007)
If You Squint Hard Enough Lmao:
Behind The Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon (2006)
Hellbound: Hellraiser 2 (1988) ((I mean, Pinhead and Kristy to end up being together in the most recent comics soooooo))
My Bloody Valentine (1981 or 2009) ((and yes, they both actually have different plots and killers!))
Prey (2022) ((I will die on that hill about the bear scene))
Honorable Mentions (not necessarily slasher x final girl, but still a killer in love romantically or platonically):
Misery (1990)
American Mary (2012)
Megan (2022)
Child's Play (2019)
May (2002)
Sweeney Todd (2007)
Crimson Peak (2015)

21!!
21. a film with a great needle drop/soundtrack/score
obligatory pta mention: boogie nights, phantom thread and licorice pizza are my favorites in terms of soundtrack / needle drops
I let my heart lead this one 👇
some specific scenes I’m thinking of for needle drops or just music uses I’m thinking of in general:
velvet goldmine: I mean so much of it is great but in terms of songs not made for the movie like the ballad of maxwell demon (my fave original song sequence) -> satellite of love carousel, baby’s on fire scene
silver linings playbook: the girl from the north country montage, I love the choice of his trigger song, of course the drop of fell in love with a girl during the dance scene at the end
american hustle: I feel love scene!!!
a star is born: I mean this is here for its whole soundtrack but we must mention presumed grindr hotel hook up to yonkers and the two beastie boys songs
maestro: on the waterfront ass slap opening should go down in gay cinematic history, the way that one section from trouble in tahiti is used is perfect, the only inclusion of a west side story composition being in the scene where he’s rolling up on his wife with his boyfriend like its rival gangs, on the town sequence!!! etc
the rest feel self explanatory.
honorable mention: brideshead revisited 1981 score but it’s a limited series so TECHNICALLY it doesn’t count but I’d like to make it count

do you have any arthur/guinevere/lancelot recommendations? if not, just stories where their characters were done justice and their friendship is explored and the love triangle comes to some satisfying solution.
i sure do! as always, with caveats. this list has two parts: films first and then books as i have suggestions for both! all of these movies can be watched here and the books read here.
TL;DR movies: Excalibur (1981), Camelot (1967), Knights of The Round Table (1953), Merlin and The Sword (1985), Sword of Lancelot (1963)
TL;DR books: The Birth of Galahad by Richard Hovey, Arthur Rex by Thomas Berger, Guinevere Trilogy by Persia Woolley, Guinevere by Lavinia Collins, Spear by Nicola Griffith, honorable mention to Arthurian Saga by Mary Stewart
MOVIES:
Excalibur (1981): for me it has everything. we get to see young stupid arthur and clever curious guinevere fall in love, their wedding is gorgeous, then nicholas clay my beloved lancelot throws a wrench in it as he loves and respects them both so much, and they love him. he gets to be crazy about it too like running off to the woods to beg god to take these feelings away, dreams he's fighting himself and ends up impaled<3 meanwhile arthur/guinevere leave a cup out for him even when he isn't there. the crux of it comes when guinevere is accused of cheating (which she hadn't even at this point) and arthur won't champion her because his kingship comes before husbandly duties, so lancelot fights for her honor instead. at the end, after guinevere has gone away to a convent (lancelot is a wildman with a full beard lost to them all) arthur comes to retrieve excalibur from her and his speech is so romantic about finding her in the next life. i die every time. here is my review of that movie.
Camelot (1967): i adoooore this guinevere. jenny<3 she does whatever she wants and i love that for her. the whole may day queen aspect of her is muah chef's kiss. small wonder arthur loved her immediately. this arthur gets to wear eyeliner which is a plus. lancelot almost kills arthur on meeting him and then falls at his feet on realizing it, only for guinevere to be really cold to him at first, trying to get other knights to defeat him, but ends up falling in love with him. which arthur totally knows and turns a blind eye to btw. even when pellinore brings it up in as gently as possible, arthur bites his head off, knowing he cant even entertain the rumor or else the kingdom is in danger, and he just wants his two favorite people to be happy....cries forever.
Knights of The Round Table (1953): the biggest downside to this one is that lancelot has a horrible insufferable american accent. however his celebrity worship/instant friendship with arthur is soooo good. he breaks his own sword for threatening the king and then arthur gives him his own....is that even allowed to be so adorable? anyway so lancelot had met guinevere before they were arthur's friend and wife, essentially had a charming meet cute, and went their separate ways, only to formally meet at the wedding in front of everyone....god, the eye contact could turn someone to stone. arthur is extremely sympathetic and compassionate, to the point that when he catches guinevere sulking alone on the roof with a gift from lancelot, he says "i miss him too..." bruh???? my heart?? all around delicious food.
Merlin and The Sword (1985): huge disclaimer...this movie is ugly as sin lol the only version available is ripped from a vhs tape so it might as well be a crunchy gif at this point. it was also cut down from the 3 hour tv version to 1.5 hours which is a tragedy. (i've tried emailing the studio for a rerelease to no avail...) however it has the most insane arthur/guinevere/lancelot ever i'll never be the same. arthur is played by malcom mcdowell who always brings his a game to roles. he's a bit older than guinevere, but she apparently taught him to read? he dotes on her but he's somewhat emotionally stunted which gets in the way. this guinevere is gorgeous i'm obsessed with her she has this deep sultry voice and a simple elegance that completely shatters lancelot's resolve. i get it, it would work on me. lancelot meanwhile is this incredibly lanky sometimes mute shy guy who is besties with gawain and his meet cute with guinevere involves the mingling of their blood after they are both cut on some rose thorns? hello???? they're freaks just like chrétien intended. the blood. they share bath water and fuck in a dungeon. then after guinevere is rescued from meleagant, arthur asks merlin for some sort of potion to help guinevere recover emotionally instead of like.....talking to her? he's trying but so so bad at it<3 he then takes her to bed to "treat her like a queen." IT'S ALL GREAT IT MAKES ME FERAL ARGH
Sword of Lancelot (1963): this one is fun because cornel wilde wrote it, directed it, and starred as lancelot himself!! the other fun factoid is the woman who plays guinevere is his real life wife. how stinking cute is that? so obviously their chemistry is ridiculous. but arthur is a cutie too. he's older and tends to talk down to guinevere a bit, which makes sense why she befriends lancelot in her loneliness. lancelot gets a lot of development, taking young tor under his wing, besties with gawain and lamorak and gareth. being irl married to guinevere also makes their disagreements feel very real. arthur is counseled by a ton of characters, bedievere, merlin, even mordred is here giving his two cents. so you really feel that tug of war pulling the throuple apart. it hurts.
BOOKS:
The Birth of Galahad by Richard Hovey: this play is wiiiiiild but the take away here is that guinevere is the mother of galahad. like what a twist. meanwhile all the men are away fighting rome so you get this tragic back and forth switching of perspective between lancelot and arthur missing guinevere (plus galehaut is here as counsel which really kicks this up a notch) then it cuts to guinevere with a new baby and tormented by the prospect of whether to write to rome with the news but afraid it will cause an upset where she cant be.....hovey you mad lad you've done it again.
Arthur Rex by Thomas Berger: i hate i keep having to recommend this bigoted book but damn it this arthur/guinevere/lancelot are so good. why are they sooo goood???? this arthur is compelling since he loses his virginity to morgause and is forever messed up after that, so he struggles to connect with guinevere in the way she needs, not really understanding her even though he bends over backwards to please her. meanwhile there isnt a word for what she and lancelot have here they need to be studied under a microscope so history doesn't repeat itself they're so twisted it's wild i can't look away. and the friendship between arthur and lancelot is so powerful and enduring that even at the end while joyous garde is under siege, arthur sends in kay with food the moment he hears their stores are low, and has him serve them like old times. he doesnt want it to be the way it is....sick and twisted narrative choices.
Guinevere Trilogy by Persia Woolley: i admit this isn't my favorite guinevere, but credit where it's due, she's a complex and fully realized character. through her we come to understand both arthur and lancelot as deeply damaged men, who had their emotional states devastated by the fall out of sexual abuse, and how that impacts their relationship with her (and their sons, mordred and galahad, who likewise suffer as a result of their fathers' emotional states). as a celtic queen, guinevere has every right to take a lover if she so desires, and arthur is not ignorant of his own failings as a husband, but the tragedy plays out anyway as the orkney brothers are there to wreak havoc on the place as usual. (you might find that this has a movie adaptation Guinevere (1994) don't watch it, trust me, it's not even fun bad, just cursed.)
Guinevere by Lavinia Collins: this is technically part of a series so you'll also get a lot of arthur and lancelot in the other three (Igraine, Morgawse, Morgan) but for the sake of this list, the guinevere one will suffice. anyway what i like about this is the strong contrast in relationships with both men. lancelot is bisexual and guinevere is the first woman he ever sleeps with (but not the last...) so theyre very tender and sweet together meanwhile arthur sired mordred before marrying her he's overall more adventurous while keeping entirely faithful to her for the rest of his life......there is a threesome in this but ironically its lancelot/guinevere/kay and not arthur but you know what? he deserves a win. this still goes on the list.
Spear by Nicola Griffith: this is perceval pov so the focus on arthur/guinevere/lancelot is minimal, but its delicious. arthur is kinda cold and mean here (falling back on the celtic "bear" thing, same as woolley does) but its revealed that he, lancelot, and guinevere are in a throuple, the characterization of lancelot's shy explanation of this was so good, and he goes on the grail quest to try and heal guinevere's womb so she can have their children, as it's a point of tension that mordred and galahad both exist, but guinevere wants to have children with arthur and lancelot. there's literally a part she faints and they both carry her off to bed like....they dont even pretend its any other way. no homophobia or slut shaming or anything like that in this book which is a huge plus. palate cleanser after arthur rex lol
Arthurian Saga by Mary Stewart: this is more of an honorable mention, as the first three books are merlin pov and the fourth is mordred. but book two (the hollow hills) has arthur raised alongside bedwyr (who is lancelot in all but name, son of ban, eventual lover of guinevere etc) they are the best of friends its adorable, bedwyr gave him his dog cabal, which is cute on its own, then fast forward to mordred pov (the wicked day) decades later and arthur is picking out a new puppy and names that one cabal too, its like this long homoromantic ritual that every dog descended from the first calls back to his original gift....im pulling my hair out. guinevere here is underdeveloped at best, as merlin doesnt really know her well and mordred's perspective on her is that shes (respectfully) hot lmao but worth mentioning as mary stewart is the goat, highly recommend her books.
and that's the list. hope that gives you some stuff to chew over!

Avery was born a first generation American to parents who wanted a better life for her and themselves. Why they chose Cole, WY? It was the cheapest ticket at the time - and that was that. Avery never asked for anything, growing up. Money was always tight, and she had a bed and food every night - what more could she ask for? One of the luxuries they did have in the Mendoza household was a TV. Though it was an ancient relic that only played black and white film, the moments of watching with her family are highlights of her childhood. That marked her first dream: to be an actress. In school, she actually partook in the theater program and was actually fairly good at it. She was the lead for a couple musicals and plays throughout her elementary, middle school and high school careers. An aspect of school she didn’t like was how everyone was so quick to judge. Having old beat up clothing didn’t really help her, but she managed to make a couple real good friends throughout her schooling years that have stuck by her since. You’d think she would pay for new clothes once she got her first job in high school, but her paychecks went towards helping her parents to replace appliances that went awry within the home. Avery’s helpful nature didn’t end there. She turned down a full rise to Penn State in order to take care of her sick mother. At this time in her life, her father moved to LA and was sending them money as support. It was also at this time that Avery became aware of the arranged marriage that her father set up for her; A nice fellow who was the son of her father’s friend. With him, everything would be set - she wouldn’t have to raise a finger or worry about finances. She was going to go through with it for her father’s sake. He broke his back getting their family a better life in America. Avery couldn’t just walk away. But, that was until she bolted out of the chapel and hailed a cab out of there. It just wasn’t her. She couldn’t live a whatever sort of life just because it was what her family wanted for her. She had to do what she wanted for herself. Avery moved to NYC and worked various jobs to support herself and her tuition at NYU. She graduated with high honors in graphic design with a minor in business studies. It was a night like any other when Avery had an idea for a dating app for middle aged women and older. Being stood up for the umpteenth time was the last straw for the Mendoza woman. She came up with the idea of a referral system for men to join the app - that way they were verified by women utilizing the app that they were looking for the real thing. The app, Spark, took over the internet. The success stories started flooding in of grandmothers, mothers, aunts, all finding love again. It filled Avery’s heart. It also made her feel that much better that it was a company she started with her college roommates - people she trusted and all girl bosses. Recently, Avery came back to Cole to take a break from the fast-paced life in NYC.
EXTRA-EXTRA, READ ALL ABOUT HER!
Avery is always looking for her next greatest idea. Currently, she is working on a book centering around empowerment with a friend of hers. She’s always go, go, go, go, go - she sometimes forgets to stop and appreciate where she is in life. Unlucky in love, Avery is usually stood up and isn’t used to genuine people who are interested in her. When she comes across people who are genuinely interested, she tends to write them off as being nice or messing with her. Avery is quick on her feet and there’s nothing she loves more than game nights. Uberly competitive, Avery loves to win and is really good at games - so she’s definitely someone you want on your team if there’s a game night happening. Avery loves to read, and people can easily find her at the bookstore when she isn’t working. It doesn’t take much to get Avery to go out and have fun. She’s always having a margarita or two and then dancing on top of tables at the bar. She’s blunt, but it’s for the best of whoever she’s speaking with. She doesn’t like to beat around the bush. She also loves to play devil’s advocate over situations to help people sort out their own answer. Overall, she’s just by girl boss babe - here for a fun time.
PERSONALITY:
+ Ambitious, Adroit, and Innovative
- Confrontational, Guarded, and Blunt
