it’s spooky season and i am once again appalled at the lack of arthurian horror.

all those incomprehensible creatures and sisyphean quests and horrific deaths yet not a single novel or film or show to satiate me? violence alone is not enough. i need our hero in steel to curl up into a ball and sob about the situation or it’s not scary. honorable mention to excalibur (1981). kissing it on the forehead and tucking into bed. not you sweetie i mean something else.

Shadowman!! Very creature, very outer space, very good eyeliner

I'd like to think that the first person, who unknowingly, is the one to come close to uncovering Shadow as like an alien form/ organic than a robot, is Magnet Man. Yet Mags doesn't know that he's not a robot, he just thinks he's heavier/ made of different material, what have you.

Comic dialogue if you can't read it, its v scribbly:

Magnet(M): YAY new recruit!

M: Hope you like hugs, I'm pulling you over! (he charges his magnet powers)

Shadow doesn't move, and they both realize it. S is sweating, while Mags just looks at him.

M: huh, you must be made of something heavier!

S(relieved): yeah, something like that...

When the parchment runs low, Sam is tasked with securing more from a nearby town-despite the warnings of an impending blizzard. Through forest and snow, he journeys into the darkness. The storm strikes, forcing the young apprentice to seek shelter.

With death creeping into the threshold he would make his grave, Sam shudders at the winter's embrace. Then it came. Growling, scratching, gnawing. In the blizzard's shadows, it's there-stalking, biting, gnashing. With infernal claw and fang, with blood-soaked fur, the ravenous wolf arrives.

Little Fly, Little Fly

Stumbling across uncharted territory within the catacombs of an abandoned church leads to a dead end full of silk webs.

Even if I were to make it out alive, the terror would never leave my mind…

Bodies. That’s what I assumed they were, all wrapped up in some kind of spider’s silk. Or maybe it’s a white cloth.. whatever it is, it looks never ending.

I can’t tell where the rope, string, or thread begins, and the cloth is too obstinate to break or unwind from its form. As if the string was used as a mold to make the victims immobile and suffocate. Almost the perfect kill method if it had not been for some of the ends being frayed. I could see bluish purple skin from what looks like a human’s legs and feet. For all I know, it could’ve been a poisoning before the gift wrapping started.

Just as I had stumbled across this scene, I was hoping I could also disappear from it as quick.

My hands shake the moment I attempt to take a step backwards and realize that I had walked into the sticky vines that wrapped the silk in a tight hold. It doesn’t matter how much I try to kick or shove away the thread, the moment it touched my shoes and the bottom of my pants, I was attached to the entire webbing.

My heart beats so loud in my ears as I’m trying to keep my tears at bay. Looking for any spiders around to crawl onto my clothes, I don’t find any. I thought it was odd. I rationalized that as long as I’m quiet, I won’t get discovered. If I’m able to keep under the radar like I have been, I should be able to cut away at the webbing and escape. But if there’s no spiders, where did this come from..?

I didn’t count on the creature who made the intricate silk coming to find me.

“Well, well, well.” A deep voice echoes behind me.

My back stiffens from the sound of an overly sweet voice. As husky as the voice was, it seemed to be coated in a sugary syrup.

“What do we have here? Caught in my webs, just waiting to be found,” they whispered in my ear.

Flipping my head around to see who spoke, I gasp in fear before falling backwards in freight.

The person, rather creature— beast! before me was an anomaly. With the entire body of a spider, a black widow at that, is looming over me. Purple eyes blink down at me, almost taunting me to run.

I jerk away from the thrice my size beast, begging someone to come help me. My entire arm was stuck in the spider’s web. It didn’t matter if it was my skin or the clothes I was wearing, there’s no way I could remove myself from the webbing.

A dark chuckle comes from the spider.

“Little Fly, where do you think you’re going? You’re home now.”
