A DEFINITIVE but nonexhaustive list of theologians/Christian thinkers and associated brat status
Athanasius - literally impossible to imagine Christianity without his contributions, unquestionably brat
Augustine - smarter than all hell, the confessions is essential reading, his corpus is a succinct compendium of theological orthodoxy, you know he's brat
Anselm of Canterbury - satisfaction theory is actually more plausible to me than penal substitution, the ontological argument is pure lunacy but is the kind of magical thinking that I'm sad to see disappear once people started systematizing "logic" and "reason" after the enlightenment. Brat.
Thomas Aquinas - I'm kind of more inclined to platonism than aristotlianism but he's brat for this excerpt of the summa alone: “If some are occasionally begotten from demons, it is not from the seed of such demons, nor from their assumed bodies, but from the seed of men taken for the purpose; as when the demon assumes first the form of a woman, and afterward of a man.” In this case, the offspring would be fully human, “so that the person born is not the child of a demon but of a man” (ST I:51:3 ad 6)." Like c'mon that's so funny but also probably saved some childrens' lives if their parents didn't want to 'fess up to having an affair.
Thomas Á Kempis - I wish I could cultivate the humility of spirit he writes about in The Imitation of Christ! This guy knows what's up! Brat!
Martin Luther - Do you know how antisemitic you have to be in order to be remembered as antisemitic even if graded on a curve relative to his cultural context? Even his principled refusal to lean into double predestination despite it's logical coherence & consubstantiative view of the sacrament of the Eucharist won't save him from being pronounced decidedly un-brat.
John Calvin - way better than his devotees, more legitimate human compassionate distress at double predestination than the vastly inferior ulrich zwingli - brat.
Ulrich Zwingli - goes without saying - un-brat.
John Woolman - went hard in the paint to fight the transatlantic slave trade his whole life. Y'all could only DREAM of walking in humble submission before God in service of your fellow man like this. Brat.
Friedrich Schleiermacher - oh so Christianity is all about absolute dependence? That's what it is? Conjuring up feelings of absolute dependence? Get real! Not brat.
Soren Kierkegaard - Absolutely goated. Love to read a guy excoriating Christian nationalism. He's so brat for that.
Karl Barth - this page is called the Church Blogmatics so you already know what I'm thinking on this one. His doctrine of election makes me able to sleep at night and his understanding of theology as a living, breathing science makes me want to engage with it. Brat.
Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. - the absolute height of liberal theology and redeems it as something potentially profitable imo - brat.

Peace be with you all friends, happy All Hallows Eve to you!! This will be a somewhat lengthy post because I think I have some ideas worth sharing.
So for those of you who don't know All Hallow's Eve is the day before all saints day. The day when the Church remembers her saints. The Catholic and Orthodox churches alongside high church protestants observe the day as to keep alive the memory of those who gave their lives to the faith, either working tirelessly to spread the Gospel, help us to understand the nature of God better, or literally gave their lives in witness for the Gospel.
A few saints outside of the Bible I think are worth sharing.
Saint Athanasius- 5x exiled for defending the divinity of Christ and kept fighting heresy.
Saint Anslem- Theologian who made the ontological argument of God.
Saint Patrick- Herald of God's kingdom to Ireland.
Saint Maximilian Kolbe- Took the place of a married Jewish man destined to be killed in WW2 at the cost of his life.
Saint Justin Martyr- Early Church Father who recklessly defended the Christain faith, to the point of writing letters to the Roman Emperor to debunk rumors. This cost him his life.
Sadly (at least to me) this day marks the anniversary of when Dr. Martin Luther nailed the 95 theses, which contained 95 points of protest against the perceived and real problems occurring within the Roman Catholic church. Ofc the indulgences scheme to build Saint Peter's Basicillia comes to mind yet there was plenty of clerical and liturgical abuses, inconsistentcy in training for the priesthood going on too. I am not going to talk about why I think the Catholic position is more correct. Plenty of smart people have done this before me. What I will offer are a few ideas to foster deeper unity.
Working in common interest- while having deep differences Catholics, Orthodox and Lutherans share a common foundation and values. For example Christian orthodoxy (just right belief, not the churches) rejects aborti0n. Think about how much more of a statement it would be if Catholics and Protestants if instead of holding separate marches were one big march at state capitals?
Learning from one another- As Thomas Aquinas said "All truth, is God's truth". While I don't believe God intended his beloved Church to fracture this to me seems very human. God works with human errors as he did with Israel when they fractured, God's grace and power works through all who strive to know him. While I am Catholic I still consume non-Catholic Christian media. For example on Youtube the Lutheran Pastor Jordan B. Cooper, makes videos about the Lutheran confession explaining it. These videos help inform me so I don't strawman Lutherans and I better understand the Catholic faith by seeing the differences. Furthermore he makes other videos especially on etiquette which is informative.
Talk to each other- similar to my first point, but different enough to be worth mentioning. If we talk to each other, it will do so much good. When we talk to each other it will break down prejudices and enlighten both parties quickly. We will see each other as more than souls 'on the wrong side' but friends who we value and care to learn more about.
I hope this post gives some helpful thoughts. May the love of Jesus Christ that surpasses all understanding br with you all.

While it was true she had met many other people of her profession before, she had only met them once or twice. Never had she met the same plague Doctor more then twice, as her traveling lifestyle often meant that while she moved to other places, the others didn’t, having homes, offices and even family to care for. She remembered all of them, but not enough to regularly recall their names.
One of them stood out as the exception, however. She still occasionally referred to him as ‘Prometheus’s creation’, even though she had actually remembered his name: Dr. Athanasius.
He was an interesting doctor, a creation of another from stone and earth, given life but without speech. His absence of speech suited him, in an odd way. She had trouble even imagining her fellow doctor vocalizing his thoughts, his silence speaking volumes even without his instrument.
She had met him only hours before the others tried to burn her at the stake, a brief stroll around bringing Doctor Feathers right to his doorstep. He had welcomed her in without hesitation, although seeing as you would likely need a pickaxe to harm him, she could understand why. He had let her wander around for nearly 7 hours, reading the many books he had on display and looking at all the odd things on his desk, several of which she only vaguely recognized. Above, on his wall, was a painting of a foreboding, sharp nosed man, contrasting harshly with his curly haired. smiling partner. Even after she had learned who they were, she couldn't imagine how on earth the two managed to get along.
It was only after Dr. Athanasius had pointed it out that she realized she was indeed hungry, and bade her goodbyes. Alas, had she known that the townsmen would accost her and tie her to a burning pyre, she perhaps would have accepted his offer of tea first.

The sons of Constantine and the crisis of Faith
Constantine insisted that his son, Constantine II, Succeed him as sole ruler. False
Constans was assassinated by his pagan troops.
Unlike his brothers who adhered to the Nicene Creed, Constantius II was an Arian
Of the tree brothers, only Constantius II held the title of pontifex maximus . True
Julian became emperor after Constantius II died in 361 from natural causes
According to Dr. Calvert, Julian decided to return to paganism because his education was dominated by pagan teachers false
According to Dr. Calvert, the Romans considered their border with the Parthians to be the most dangerous
Athanasius argued that the incarnation expressed God's desire to save mankind from sin , love for man, desire for man to know him more intimately
Athanasius was exiled five times, due in large part to his commited support of the Nicene Creed
Damasus required all potential bishops to affirm the Nicene Creed before they could be ordained True.

Reposted from @alisachilders To say that Christianity is "a white man's religion" is very popular in our culture today, but that is simply not true. Dr. H.C. Felder explains that the first non-Jew contact of Christianity was an Ethiopian eunuch. This is found in Acts 8:26. God performed a miracle to the apostle Philip to get the message to the Ethiopian eunuch, who accepted the message, became baptized, and then returned to his queen and shared the message with her. By the fourth century A.D., most of Africa was Christianized. This was before Christianity was even recognized as a religion by Rome. Christianity was thriving in Africa without any influence from Rome. Some early church fathers were African, like Augustine, Tertullian, and Athanasius. As a matter of fact, Christianity migrated from Africa to Europe, not from Europe to Africa. Also, when Constantine decided to legalize Christianity, he went to Africa to find scholars to teach Christian doctrines. From day one of the church, it was not a white man's religion just as it’s not a white man’s religion today. . ➡Link in Profile: https://youtu.be/GoynUR2jOdc . . . ➡#alisachilders #podcast #apologetics #philosophy #speaker #blogger #christianity #truth #progressivechristianity #anothergospelbook #gospel #liveyourtruthandotherlies https://www.instagram.com/p/Cn2hSuTLKjB/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
