10 little subtle ways and things you could be doing that are witchy!

(esp if you're still in the broom closet) ❤️🦊

1. virtual and online altars

pinterest boards dedicated to your gods/goddesses; quotes and aesthetics.

tumblr dedication blogs.

social media page with your witchy alias.

discord server, a private place to organise channels and create categories for what you want, i.e., spellwork, candle magick, crystal associations, etc.

music playlists, for both manifesting and connecting with your deities, they love coming through music.

2. journal/book altars

similar to the idea of a book of shadows, this will be personal writings and thoughts for specific deities.

you can customise it and decorate it much like a physical altar! i.e., stickers, washi tapes, markers, sparkles.

custom spreads for whomever you work with, you can put prayers you've written for them, words you want to convey, and express.

3. the wooden box altar, also known as a travelling altar

a place to put all your trinkets and necessities.

if you're unable to have a physical space, having one that's portable will help you take your altar wherever you go.

you can carve/paint the box to be more personal for you, or to be ultra discreet about it you can just customise the inner part so it doesn't stick out to people you don't want knowing yet.

4. origami shapes

for manifesting, write out what you would like and fold it into a star to carry out the manifestation.

use the idea of symbolism to embed your intentions, for luck, a four leaf clover. for allowing new opportunities to find you and let go, a butterfly, to succeed in something you could make a bird; "soaring to new heights."

you could also use this time to connect with your deities, just being with them in the moment.

5. financial abundance

if you can't blow cinnamon on the first day of the new month, put a dash of it in your morning coffee or tea first thing.

use of coins in the soil of your plants welcomes in prosperity.

likewise with coins, frogs are symbolic of wealth.

a bay leaf where you keep your wallet/purse, the exchange of the money you give out you will receive back with a little extra.

6. kitchen magick/green witchery

add spices/herbs to help achieve something you want i.e.,

pancakes with vanilla and honey to bring in loving and warm energy.

adding pepper/salt/basil/rosemary to encourage protection.

for clarity and insight, chamomile tea.

to have peaceful and calm resolve, lemonade with fresh mint leaves.

7. clothing and jewellery

wearing items of clothing or jewellery in honour of your deities, i.e.

rings, bracelets, and necklaces that symbolise something of them for you.

shirts with quotes you feel resemble them; colour associations work plenty.

if you crochet or make your own items of clothing, knot magick or sewing in a symbol that means something for you can help you feel confident when wearing it.

8. self-care can be devotional

doing things that make you happy whilst doing it in honour of your deities allows them to be present in your simple joys.

writing, poetry, reading; feeling called to read something because it holds a message for you.

indulging a show or something you watched in your childhood years, deities take pleasure in watching something that means alot to you and will be grateful to share that moment.

treats and specific cravings, i.e., little upg, but loki loves sweet pastries.

taking a walk about in nature gives your deities more room to show you the beauty of the world. take them to your favourite bench, to your favourite coffee shop.

knot magick, if you crochet, make something in honour of your gods/goddesses. they will ensure it brings you comfort when you hold it.

painting your nails, you can charge your nail polish beneath the moon or mix in a little moon water to be energised and intuitively connected.

9. cleansing and clearing of old energy

water

will help the bad flow out and let the good flow in.

showers/baths are good for self-cleansing.

holding a glass of water before drinking it and wish your intentions.

crying, allowing yourself to feel what it is you're trying to process in order for it to be released. can't release something you haven't finished going through yet.

moon water, I recommend this during a new moon as that's more symbolic to starting anew, planting seeds and encouragement toward growth.

sun water, can help with energising you and bringing in positive energy, also a confidence boost.

earth

holding onto a crystal for a few moments, just breathing in and out.

crystals can be used for cleansing, smoky quartz, clear quartz. there is a crystal for all your needs.

plants! plants are great for protection and for taking in bad energy. they will listen to what you have to say, and will love you as much as you love them.

food, especially grown from the earth can help you feel refreshed and buzzing with energy.

fire

burning, writing out your hardships, struggles, anger and burning them (safely please).

lighting a candle while you work on something, very therapeutic, and you can visualise the bad energy being burnt out and released.

incense, the smoke is a natural cleanser and will do wonders. you aren't restricted to using sage to cleanse; others you could use are myrrh, sandalwood, lavender, or cedar. it's completely up to what your preferences are.

air

breathing in and out during meditation, as you take in some air and release it, upon release visualise what you're letting go of.

bells, the frequency of dinging bells helps to disperse bad energy.

sound cleansing through soft music, and intentional frequencies. you'll find alot of these up on youtube.

10. divination methods (aside from tarot/pendulums that i know of)

clouds, observing what you see and the shapes you recognise, what you need to know will be reflected in nature.

ceromancy, candle wax, burning a candle after asking for some clarity or an answer and having the wax form a shape for you to interpret.

numerology, angel numbers, and the significance of the numbers.

automatic writing, done in your personal journal, it's unconscious writing that can help channel messages you may need.

bibliomancy, randomly selecting a passage or words from a book.

capnomancy, the use of smoke from candles or incense, and reading the shapes and forms casted by the smoke

conchomancy, divination through seashells, shapes, and the type of shell.

casting a set of charms on a cloth and divinating the meaning of where they landed.

this was probably the first proper witchy thing i’ve done in years. i really enjoyed creating this portable altar where i can just simply bring it with me whenever. after 5+ hours of work, i finally can say i feel more connected with my craft than ever before. :]

i used a lot of stuff, but i’ll just list what i put inside!!

tea light candle for any spell working (representing fire)

a small jar of moon water (representing water)

a small jar of salt

a small jar of a protection spell

a cloth for everything to set it on

a small pentagram (representing earth) (it’s hidden)

a remains of an incense stick (representing air)

pendulum for small divination work

yes / no paper on the lid for said pendulum

slips of paper for any small affirmations or spell work

and that should be about it for the materials inside! the outside consists of a cloth cut out and glued around the lid as well as many stickers accompanying it. (although because of the cloth it’s much harder to close and re-open)

i used a mint tin box for the altar, 100% recommend for any newer witches or closeted witches.

(small disclaimer since it's been a bit since i've had polyvessels stuff on my blog, i don't ship the band members behind the masks, just their characters based off their stage personas. And usually in a urban fantasy setting where they aren't a band lmao)

(and because of that I will just be basing all this on my 'devotions' au, but domestic fluff between the guys and not including Sleep rn.)

Who does the laundry: It's a big ordeal, where one of them will notice that clean clothes are running low, and then they make everyone else participate in folding and putting away clothes after they do all the laundry. It's an ordeal but it works for them.

Who makes the bed: hmmm. depends on the bed haha. I think consistently IV is the only one to make his bed every morning (it's such a big bed tho that if he's the only one to sleep in it all he has too do is straiten up the covers). I think II will most of the time. Vessel and III don't bother unless one of the others has slept in bed with them, and then they'll help make the bed.

Who sleeps on the right and who sleeps on the left/do they end up in the middle curled around each other: hmmm, Vessel and III have a tendency to cling to whoever they are in bed with, so when they all share a bed, it ends up in a cuddle pile. II and IV don't mind. It's usually in the order of left to right: II, Vessel, III, IV, but they don't stick to this order all the time, it's just how they normally climb into bed if they are planning on sleeping in the same bed that night. (IV goes to bed first, III follows, and II will bring Vessel with him late at night).

Who likes cooking dinner but who ends up cooking dinner more: I think III likes cooking dinner the most, but it's the one household thing they have on rotation, so no one ends up cooking by themselves, or more then others.

Who buys the snack foods: everyone, but II more then the others lol.

Who keeps the grocery list: IV, but it is one of those ones that is magnetic on the fridge, so the others do put things on the list too. Sometimes Vessel gets in a mood and deep cleans the entire fridge while the others are asleep and the list will be super long cause he threw away all the old things in there that needed replaced.

Who adds silly things to the list and does the other gets it for them: Vessel adds weird witchy things to the list (like more so then just witchy stuff, ahh the joys of being a gods favorite), and III puts truly random stuff on there. They usually all go shopping together, unless the list is really small (it hardly ever is), and whoever has the list just sighs, but everything gets bought off it.

Who has an obsession with water bottles/travel mugs: They all do!

Who has an obsession with hats: Vessel has an obsession with his masks, does that count? Uhh. IV 'canonically' gets the funny hats at concerts, so would be funny to have that be part of this.

Who likes camping gear but hates camping: Vessel. Don't take him to REI, he wants to move the cult out into the woods, but he hates not having his bed, so it wouldn't last long. (also I don't think Sleep would be down for that, lmao)

Who likes stickers: II and III both do. III will get new ones every once in awhile, and put them on his laptop or a notebook. II is the kinda guy to get a sticker every time he leaves the house and put it on something random in his room.

Who likes tea and who likes coffee: Vessel and IV like tea, III and II like coffee.

Who prefers cold drinks and who prefers hot ones: II and IV like cold drinks, and Vessel and III like hot drinks. Though it depends on the time of day, and how much time they have. In the morning they all typically tend to have hot drinks, and in the afternoon, especially in the summer, they tend to have cold drinks.

Who hoards blankets and who just likes putting on socks when they are cold: II hoards blankets. I think IV has a tendency to do so as well, and III will just put on socks when he's cold (though he ends up under a blanket with II or IV anyway). Vessel hates socks, but he'll put on a warm hoodie and then sit on his feet to keep them warm, unless its REALLY cold, and then he'll resign to his fate of socks, unless one of the others convince him to take a break and cuddle with them on the couch.

Who prefers spring/summer and who prefers fall/winter: Vessel and IV prefer spring/summer and II and III prefer fall/winter.

Who gets obsessed with something random on YouTube (what it is): I can see them all doing it, but Vessel does it more, and it's all sorts of things, but in the 'current' place on the time line, it's book binding videos.

who likes podcasts (what they listen to) (this will be kinda limited to what I watch): II likes podcasts, and I don't think he has a preference for what it is he listens too, I think if it interests him, he'll listen to it.

Who has a tumblr: Vessel. aesthetic blog, and then a side blog for anything else.

Who has a twitter: All of them.

Who reads fanfic/if they are famous who has read fic about themselves and who judges the other just a little bit/do they ask people to not write fic about them: hmmmmmm, I think IV does in this au, they aren't famous in this au so they wouldn't read about themselves. I don't know what fandoms IV would read for, but he sends some to the others if he really liked it.

"Boy" and "Girl" Little

So I'm technically agender, I call myself queer because its just easier but I don't mind what pronouns are used. However, I've noticed that a when I'm little there seems to be an overlap sure but more defined "boy mode" and "girl mode" for whatever reason so I thought I'd write down lists for both

"Boy" little:

Green and blue, orange or earth tone kinda colours

Foresty

Usually slightly older seeming than "Girl" little but still likes paci's and things like that

Little gear: stuffies, rompers, paci, sippy cup

Animals: Bears, Octopus, Puppies, Highland Cows

Things I wanna try: stuffie tea party, baking, blanket stuffie, talking to stuffies more opnely, journaling as little, having specific little plates, spoons etc. Daddy teaching me something, talking little

Trauma response: teary, anxious, scared, non verbal sometimes, cuddly with certain person, needs comfort and soft things and babied and scooped up/pulled in, embarrassed when attention brought to things

Hi, fellow autistic and chronically ill witch here (there's a lot of us tbh lol), with some ideas

Start by finding the magical in the ordinary. Do you drink coffee or tea with your breakfast? Think about what they mean. Teas, especially herbal teas, can be viewed through the lens of their magical correspondences. Got yourself a cup of lavender tea? That's a potion of peace baby. Rose petals and lemon? Self love and sunshine. Green tea with pomegranate? Mental boost and clarity. Even just a cup of black coffee is a potion of energy.

Having a hard time getting out in nature? That's okay, me too. If I can't actually go outside, I'll put on a nature doc and light a candle or incense that reminds me of outside. Do you want to add a plant to the mix but are afraid you'll kill it bc you have a lot of low energy days? Good news, there's a LOT of easy care plants out there. My rec is the snake plant. Not only is it a hearty plant, but it is a super oxygenator plant, meaning it can actually help purify the air.

Feeling the need to cleanse but don't wanna go around the whole house with a singing bowl or some incense? Open a window and play your favorite music. You'll let the stagnant air out, and you re-energize the space with your music. I even have different playlists for my different intentions. If I need to get up and move around, I've got my ska punk. Calm down time? Country rock.

Did you find yourself tuning out the music and then all of a sudden a lyric caught you off guard? Focus on that lyric, it's telling you something. Last time that happened to me, I heard the lyric "sometimes you get the best light from a burning bridge", which led me to realize it was finally time to break up with my ex. Messages from the universe appear in very mysterious ways (using Don Henley's voice apparently lol)

Stuck in bed sick? Use a diffuser with some essential oils (be mindful that there are oils that are really bad for pets, especially when diffused, lavender being one of them, so do your research before you do this around pets).

Don't go hunting for spoons, you'll just wear yourself out. Use the spoons that you have to do what you can. Do you have any medical supplies to aid in your chronic illness? Medications, equipment, the like. Enchant them. I covered my cane in badass gothic and witchy stickers. It's also my "fuck around and find out" instigator.

It's about finding the balance between what you want to do any what you can do. They won't always overlap. I want to get outside for every full moon, but I missed the last two because of pain flare ups. So I sat by a window. I prayed to my goddess Nyx. I did what I could with what I had. No one wants you to stretch yourself thin for the sake of your witchcraft practices.
