I know I've talked abt this to death, but I still can't get over how Lumity and Huntlow shippers tried to claim Caleb and Evelyn as their own.

Even though Hunter is literally a clone of Caleb and he has the same exact character arc Caleb had. And Willow doesn't fill in the role of "a witch from another world who lured Philip's brother away from him" like Luz does.

I will never quite get over what Huntlows and Lumitys tried to do, because it is the most audacious example of biphobia I've ever seen in a fandom space.

People know on some level, Luz likes princes - it's something that is brought up twice. Luz goes on a quest with a prince and she writes a story where her self-insert kisses a prince. And they're also aware that Luz and Hunter fit the roles of Caleb and Evelyn to a tee. But something in them just can't handle it - the possibility of a bisexual woman writing a story where the bisexual girl has undeniable romantic subtext with a boy is disgusting to them.

Luz is bisexual, but she can't actually be bisexual because most people in LGBTQ+ spaces don't view bisexuality as a legitimate sexuality. People legit see Luz breaking up with her girlfriend to date a boy as an example of homophobia and the writers wanting "to turn her straight." Luz's bisexuality is only valid if she dates girls and is still dating a girl by the time the story ends. Basically bisexuality is only valid if the bisexual "chooses to be gay" because if they don't, then they were always ''straight'' and should be casted out from their own community. It doesn't matter that Hunter is bisexual and that m/f pairings between two bisexuals are non existent in media. Because Hunter and Luz would "look straight" if they started to date, it renders this important and vital bisexual representation as "straight representation." Because for some reason, people have it in their heads that straight people can relate to the bisexual experience and vice versa.

But yeah, the kneejerk fear and hatred that the Caleb/Evelyn = Lunter parallels invoke in people would be funny if it wasn't downright biphobic lol

- i think if he had pets he’d have sight hounds

- in accordance with that he gets pissed at those people who don’t train their dogs and get mad at their dogs when they don’t do what they tell them to. cover him in dogs!!!!

- he seems like he’d just… smell like parchment and old wood.

your community simply will not last. if your community cannot handle the clearest example of someone harming no one but herself without breaking down into rabid demands of exile, it cannot weather internal conflict that actually matters without going up in flames. not only is transmisogyny, you know, a literal death sentence to the trans women it brands sex criminals, it also just is a fundamental weakness of your community if a trans girl hurting no one can set it ablaze like i don't know how to tell you this but if you're that eager to collapse into moral purity testing for "enemies within" over a girl that just likes pissing herself and calling her girlfriend "big sis", that is a trivially easy weak point for a hostile attacker to shatter your space along. support the Weird trans women, even the ones you're not personally comfortable with. we're not coming to fuck your kids and dogs, i promise.

I am sure you are all aware of the current state of the fandom. I have done my best to avoid all of the controversy, but seeing how others have voiced their concerns I would like to as well.

I, as an artist, do not feel safe in the Rain World fandom.

I have expressed this in the past, but I have been the victim of false pedophile and grooming allegations with the use of manipulated and doctored screenshots. I do not have the words to articulate just how psychologically damaging it is to have an entire fandom turn on you in an instant. To have your social life destroyed. To have hundreds or even thousands of people celebrate your downfall, simply because you annoyed them, because now they have a "reason" to. Watching this fandom gleefully parade around shaky evidence and happily participate in this type of behavior is sickening to me. It makes me worry that someday, I will annoy someone enough to have another false allegation made against me, and I will have to go through that again. There is a part of me that believes I would not survive such a thing. I am not trying to be dramatic when I say that, but people need to realize that "internet drama" can cause serious harm your mental health. I still have PTSD nightmares related to the callout post made about me from 3 years ago. This is not something you can just “get over”.

People need to remember fanartists are not paragons of grace, nor are they perfect. The fact that the internet has allowed people to dehumanize artists into "content machines" that must never slip up rather than human beings who are messy and awkward and can fuck up at times is sickening. I do not feel comfortable in a fandom that jumps at the opportunity to harass someone over a mistake, that stirs up a witchunt over what boils down to miscommunications. A fandom that treats every situation as black and white and doesn't wait for all the evidence to come out.

I believe nyuuronfly put it best in their post:

"It is not inspiring to sit around and get attention in an atmosphere where the more attention you get the more you know many of the eyes that are looking toward you are searching for a weak point to go after."

I understand revealing a lot of my trauma in this post is a potentially stupid decision, but I believe my story can help make people realize the genuine harm callout posts cause. It is not fun having to deal with constant paranoia that hundreds of people are praying on your downfall. I have considered not posting about, or simply deleting my rot au many times because of worry that someone will think it's too “dark” or “problematic” and decide I am the fandom's #1 punching bag for months.

As of now, I will not be deleting, nor will I stop posting art. But I have considered it many times, and this behavior as of late brought me the closest I've ever been to doing so. I love rain world and frankly, I don't want to feel this way about the fandom! I want this place to be positive, I want better for this game. I'm not mad, just disappointed.

Fanartists are PEOPLE. They are giving you FREE art. Treat them better.

You are not immune to false screenshots, mob mentality, and black and white thinking.

Rain world is a gorgeous, creative, and deeply moving game. Please, let's work to make this community reflect that.

Prompt 96

While on a hunt, Jaskier is hit with a spell. Geralt races over to his crumpled form and reaches out to shake him awake, only for Jaskier to push himself up, and for two large wings to sprout from his back. Ah shit. Geralt and Jaskier are dealing well with the spell, if you ask them. Geralt and Jaskier hold hands while Jaskier tries very hard to learn how to fly. It's more like panicked flapping that sometimes lets him hover just barely taller than Geralt, but that's just because he's only started learning. Jaskier complains how unfair it is that he gets the chance to fly and feel the wind and see the views only for the spell to make it so that he doesn't instinctively know how to fly properly. Geralt reassures him that with practice, he could learn. But why practice if you're going to lose them soon, anyways? Eventually, Geralt notices Jaskier is much faster to dodge in hunts with his wings. He darts out of the way miraculously fast, and now that they've been practicing every morning, Jaskier can fly decently high to watch over the fight, getting all of his inspiration from a safe distance. It calms a lot of Geralt's worries. Jaskier asks him one day if he can help him, because his wings are getting itchy and he can't reach the entirety of them, and Geralt agrees. Geralt likes preening Jaskier's wings. He likes the calming silence occasionally broken by Jaskier's humming. He likes the soft feel of the feathers. But moreover, he especially likes the little sounds Jaskier makes as Geralt's fingers work away. Jaskier tells Geralt one day that he doesn't want to lose his wings. Geralt nods, and yet they're still on their way to find a magic-user. Jaskier is worried Geralt doesn't want Jaskier to have wings. Maybe Geralt hates all the extra maintenance Jaskier needs now... He's stupefied when they finally find someone powerful enough for Geralt to deem workable, and Geralt asks for a glamour for Jaskier to wear, so that Jaskier can perform with no fear of witchunts after himself, but can soar with his wings when alone and safe with his witcher to protect him. Jaskier is so busy being awestruck by the phrasing of Geralt being "His Witcher" that he barely even processes how sweet the glamour idea is.
