Headcanon time: When apprentices pass the fourth test and graduate from their professor's care, there's a ceremony where they 'return' their old hat to their professor before wearing the new hat of their own design for the first time.

Despite all the strains in their relationship, Beldaruit, of course, is sobbing the whole time when Qifrey's returning his hat (which also happens to be missing its tassel), and when he passes the fifth test, Qifrey says that it was very cringey and embarassing and how he would never do that when it's time for his apprentice's graduation-

Flash forward to the future where all the girls pass their test and graduate, and Qifrey? Man's straight up bawling when he receives their hats. Olruggio is relentless in bringing this up- but unknown to Qifrey, he was crying at the time too, Qifrey just didn't see it.

- have a detailed list of what is desired - whether in mental or physical form the list is clear as DAY and not subject to change

- head to the stores. buy the goods. leave with a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment.

- bonus (1): “browsing” comes in the form of one sweep through each aisle because easthies does not believe in dillydallying. if nothing catches his eye, he’s leaving (note: this only applies to his own shopping habits. if he’s accompanying luluci for example, who shops like a normal person, he’ll be patient as needed)

- bonus (2): utowin is the assigned bag carrier if he comes along. eas will buy what he needs, thrust the bags at utowin, then head straight to the next store to ensure maximum efficiency (utowin follows through it all with endearment)

Qifrey x witch!reader (slight spoilers!)

-Whoo boy this man needs several years of therapy and that doesn’t exist. He has high walls that few can climb over.

-You guys start off as friends.

-Qifrey drifted into your orbit because he thought you had a connection to the brim hats.

-you don’t, probably

-Despite his cheery demeanor, the darkness within and keep a little distance. He has to change tactics and be a little more open.

-You visit the atelier regularly, and keep mum when Qifrey appears with a random girl.

-You guys have similar interests, geeking out over spells and spending hours practicing and refining new ones. late night cooking sessions. Qifrey starts to like, first as a friend. Someone else can handle his excitement and creative meals? His moodiness? Olruggio sighs in relief

-He drops the mask around you. He’s more touchy and has a harder time looking you in the eye. He’ll reveal his more serious and sad self.

-He’s hesitant when it comes to physical affection. You’ll have to grab his hand first a few times. Once he’s over the fear, he’ll never let you go, metaphorically

-He’s a worrier, big dad energy, and if you’re sick he’ll drop everything and bring you food. If you were hurt by someone…well, rip to them.

Orufrey modern!AU

Qifrey is a homeschool teacher for foster children who still don't have a foster family and for children that for various reasons can't go to public or private schools.

He is currently the teacher of four girls.

Two of them, Coco and Tetia, are foster children with a traumatic background and no family to take care of them, so they spend a lot of time at Qifrey's house.

The other two, Agott and Richeh, are the daughters (step-sisters with different mothers) of Qifrey's old best friend Olruggio, who has the full custody of both of them.

Olruggio is an artist/artisan, always too busy working on new projects and travelling around to meet clients, so he can't properly take care of his daughters alone. Also, he doesn't make a lot of money to send them to school, so Qifrey does him a favour by homeschooling them both.

Everything changes when Olruggio accidentally causes a fire while working and his whole studio (and part of his house too) is completely destroyed. He loses all his old projects, which means he also loses clients and money.

Qifrey wants to help him and he suggests for him and his daughters to go live with him until their house is rebuilt. Here, their lives will change forever. Olruggio and his daughters have the opportunity to grow closer. The four girls become friends, almost sisters, supporting each others during difficulties. And above all, Olruggio and Qifrey start to have feelings for each other, while unconsciously creating a peaceful and loving environment for all the girls, until they eventually fall in love and create a new family.

Based on the nature of Bond-Based (High Friendship/Happines) Evolution phenomena found to occur in Pokemon such as Sylveon, Pichu -> Pikachun, Snom -> Frosmoth, etc, Do you think this is as a result of the specific human - pokemon Bond or is this something that is reproducable in the wild as a Mated Pair form a bond or something similar? Those types of evolutions can be relatively diverse in biological function, but they tend to occur in species that live in either naturally high-stress or resource-poor environments that promote small body size. Formation of interpersonal (inter-Pokémon-al?) bonds establishes a few things: cooperation securing resources that may yield more than the sum of the individuals working alone; additional coverage when scouting for danger and the associated ability to range further afield; a heightened threat of competition over space/potential mates/newfound resources. All those things are easier to deal with if you have a larger and/or stronger body. Therefore, some of those species' evolutionary processes are only triggered by a hormone cascade associated with prolonged contact with other trusted individuals.

For example, Snom live in areas that are relatively extreme. Resources in arctic areas may be few and far between, and a large body with a high surface area to volume ratio (i.e. having appendages such as wings and antennae that are vulnerable to damage and energetically expensive to keep functional) can be dangerous. Groups of Snom tend to yield one or two dominant Frosmoth, that can defend territory and the group, and in turn receive food.

Meanwhile, many baby Pokémon such as Pichu and Togepi are not as precocial as other basic evolutionary forms, and require extra care and sometimes even education before they can safely set off on their own. A delayed evolution that relies on attention from family members is a good way to make sure that offspring don't leave the nest prematurely. That would essentially be a waste of parental investment, in cold-hearted biological terms.
