~Ranking All Pink Fairies in Pretty Cure~
~~~š~~~š~~~š~~~
Disclaimer: These are all my opinions! If you donāt agree with them, thatās fine! Just donāt attack me or anything.
Also, the Fairy Tones arenāt included in any of these rankings. Theyāre just all the same to me, and donāt do much other than in the transformations and powers.
ā¼ļøWarning: Spoilers for Futari wa Precure Splash Star, Doki Doki Precure, Hugtto Precure and Delicious Party Precureā¼ļø
~~~š~~~š~~~š~~~
~š©·20 - Lulunš©·~
(Futari wa Precure: Max Heart)
I thought Porun was annoying, but oh. My. Gosh.
I feel like itās easy for me to forget how much I hate a character if their design is cute, but with Lulun, all of that goes out the window. The moment this baby opened her mouth, sheās whining and being needy.
I get that sheās a child, but children need to learn and understand that they canāt have everything they want all the time. She never gives poor Porun any alone time, and throws a fit when he asks her to stop clinging to him. And Mipple, who should be the responsible big sister, just lets her behavior slide.
~š19 - Foopš~
(Futari wa Precure: Splash Star)
So forgettable.
I feel like Moop and Foop were super unnecessary. Other than the power ups, they donāt do much at all. Toei couldāve just had Flappy and Choppy do the power ups instead.
I donāt remember a thing about Foop, other than she was just there for the power up and cute factor.
~š§āāļø18 - Wishunš§āāļø~
(Futari wa Precure: Max Heart)
I really liked the Heartiels! Each of them were so unique, and their designs were really cool!
Unfortunately though, Wishunās design is all I can really judge here. She doesnāt have enough screen time for me to judge her on personality. So for that reason, sheās ranked this low.
I still love her design though!
~šļø17 - Queen Bavaroisšļø~
(Yes! Precure 5 GoGo)
She sort of gives me āannoying auntā energy.
All she does is talk. Nonstop. Thatās all there is to her. Nothing else. So thatās all I gotta say.
~š„16 - Aiš„~
(Doki Doki)
I never like the babies. They just always cause problems. Ai wasnāt as bad as some of the other babies though(ahemā¦ Chiffon).
However, I found her existence to be pretty much unnecessary. I mean, did Toei really need to make the princess reincarnate into a magic baby? We already have Aguri and Regina. Why do we need a third princess clone? I guess they probably just did it for the toys.
~šØ15 - KirarinšØ~
(KiraKira Precure A La Mode)
As I stated before in this post, I donāt like Kirarin/Ciel. She was really rude.
I also feel like she couldāve done a lot more for her brother, if she just stopped baking for one small second. Thatās all I have to say here.
~š¶14 - Hummyš¶~
(Suite)
I may get attacked for this, but I found Hummy really annoying. And I already found Hibiki and Kanade annoying. So until Ellen and Ako came around, I just couldnāt stand anyone in the dang show.
I also donāt really like her design. Itās just a cat with pink markings. Nothing too special.
~š13 - Kirarin Bearš~
(Wonderful)
Again, he doesnāt have enough screen time for me to judge him a whole bunch. But from what weāve seen so far, I really like him!
I love how heās so cute and small, but he lifts weights. I was also surprised when he didnāt hold a grudge against Cure Nyammy for hurting him. So heās a pretty cool little guy!
~š¼12 - Hugtanš¼~
(Hugtto)
Again, I never like the babies.
Though, Hugtan is okay. Sheās not too annoying, and she doesnāt cause a lot of trouble.
The train scene where she was calling out for her mama made me tear up. And I was actually crying at her birth.
So congratulations Team Baby, youāve earned one point.
~š11 - Kome-Komeš~
(Delicious Party)
Sheāsā¦ okay.
Itās cool how she can turn into a human, and she is really cute. But I never really grew attacked to her.
I also found her to be quite annoying at times.
Thatās all I got.
~š10 - Pafuš~
(Go! Princess)
I may also get attacked for this, but I didnāt really like her that much.
For the most part, she just looks like a normal dog. Nothing special, except for some accessories. Sheās also clearly mostly there for the cute factor and toys.
However, I still like her. I just think the show wouldāve been just fine without her.
~š9 - Kururunš~
(Tropical Rouge)
I may actually get massacred for this. But Iām not a huge Kururun fan.
She doesnāt do much at all. Other than delivering a package or whatever, sheās just kinda there. She doesnāt enable power-ups, she rarely does anything useful, and she doesnāt even talk.
~šø8- Chyprešø~
(Heartcatch)
Sheās really cute!
She really cares for Tsubomi, and I love that. But I unfortunately canāt remember much about her. But out of the things I do remember, none of them are negative! So thatās good!
~š¹7 - Milkš¹~
(Yes! Precure 5)
I remember hating Milk at first. But in Yes! Precure 5 GoGo, she grew on me.
Sure, sheās annoying, and can be really rude. But sheās iconic. Plus, her design is really cute!
~š©·6 - Mippleš©·~
(Futari wa Precure)
Ah yes, one of the OG fairies!
I love Mipple. Sheās so cute! But I do feel sheās a bit lacking, especially when you compare her to Mipple.
Also, I just couldnāt stand how she just let Lulun do whatever she wanted.
But I still love her!
~š©5 - Pekorinš©~
(KiraKira Precure A La Mode)
I like Pekorin! Sheās just a sweet little baby.
Though her design makes me a bit uncomfortable. Why did Toei choose that fleshy peach color for her? Itās giving ābalding old manā vibes..
But other than that, I love her. She really tries her best, and you can see her improvement throughout the series.
~ā„ļø4 - Sharuruā„ļø~
(Doki Doki)
My favorite fairy in Doki Doki Precure!
Sharuru is super helpful and caring. Though she does overdo it at times. I really loved the episode where she turned human. It was super cute to see her bonding with Mana more.
Though what stops her from being higher on this list, is that she can get pretty annoying. Especially when she wants to help too much.
~š3 - Ribbonš~
(Happiness Charge)
Poor Ribbon deserved better. She did so much for Hime, basically being like a mother to her. She took care of her, cooked and cleaned. But she never received even a simple āthank youā. Instead, Hime just acted like a brat.
If I was Hime, Iād be way more grateful. And it sucks that people just forget about Ribbon.
~š¦“2 - Komugiš¦“~
(Wonderful)
I think itās safe to say that everyone loves Komugi! I mean, who wouldnāt? Sheās such a sweet girl!
Sure, she can be a bit much, and say too much. But I still love her!
Sheās so kind and caring towards both people and animals. All she wants is to play with everyone, and that wish helps motivate her to be a good Pretty Cure!
~š·1 - Rabirinš·~
(Healinā Good)
In my opinion, Rabirin is the better version of Sharuru.
Sheās caring, hardworking, and a great partner to Cure Grace! Sheās super serious about healing the earth, and taking care of Latte. Sure, she had her doubts about Nodoka at first, but after getting to know her, theyāre the perfect pair!
Rabirin is criminally underrated. I really need to get some merch of her.
Thatās all! Let me know what you think of my ranking, and how you would rank them yourself!

Precure Day 096
Episode: Futari wa Precure Max Heart 45 - āInfinite Darkness, Eternal Lightā Date watched: 14 November 2018 Original air date: 15 January 2005 Screenshots: https://imgur.com/a/3rmxS0f
Here we are, part one of the three part finale. Or part two of the four-part finale, depending on your perspective. Itās a busy one, too. We need to save Hikari, meet the final Heartiel, resurrect the Dark King, and fight for the future of the world after all, and itās all in a dayās work.
Iām going to combine my recap and analysis into one here to see if I can find a better flow. Youād think after almost 100 essays Iād have this down to a science but itās just the opposite. Bear with me, I donāt know if Iāll ever be satisfied. Also this is kind of a series retrospective since it ties up most of the ongoing plots.
It turns out Hikari and Hikaru were brought into the Dusk Zone, which Baldez knew but didnāt tell anybody else, so while Viblis, Uraganos, and Circulas search around for him, and Nagisa and Honoka ask around about Hikari only to discover that people are starting to forget about her, Baldez was setting up their meeting all along. His plan is finally revealed, and itās a shrewd one: let the Queenās growth push the Kingās growth and then have him absorb her energy to become even more powerful and spark his revival. Itās cunning and clever and incredibly risky. Unfortunately itās not a good enough plan to justify an entire yearās worth of meandering. Obviously, Baldez kept his plans close to his chest and didnāt tell the other three not to destroy the girls, which led to some internal conflict when he stepped in on more than one occasion. I am not a fan of how the show approached this, as it seems like they wanted to have their cake (the villains giving the heroines a true fight) and eat it (have them hold back or not want to cast the final blow in pursuit of a greater endgame) with the result of the series just feeling dull. The villains never really got better, and Baldez was just kind of off in the corner saying āJust according to keikaku.ā
Oh also Baldez finally reveals that Hikaru is the Dark Kingās Life. Even if I hadnāt said from the beginning I wasnāt going to maintain any pretense about it, I hope most people would have deduced it after this long, it really shouldnāt be a surprise to anyone in the real world.
Porun and Lulun figure out where Hikari is and, with Lulunās miraculous power, break into the Dusk Zone to rescue their partner, in the process upsetting the balance of light and darkness. The sky turns from gray to amber and Hikari is rescued.... but she appears to be dead. Everybody cries over her until she wakes up to console Porun. Somehow this awakens the last Heartiel, Eternalun, who gives a short speech believing in their strong convictions for eternity, listing off the twelve wills, and immediately entering the Chairect. Keep in mind that Seekun has said from the start that she enters last, so sheās still floating about. But now that weāve got all 12 heartiels letās recount the Queenās twelve wills: curiosity, passion, harmony, purity, intelligence, happiness, hope, wishes, bravery, prosperity, love, and eternity. A lot of those are very vaguely defined ideas that we never saw the queen OR Hikari demonstrating, since it was usually Nagisa embodying the will that gave it closure. They make good moral/ethical guidelines for the show in theory, though the execution has been lackluster. The writers couldnāt decide whether they wanted them to embody lessons to be learned or just Macguffins to collect so they once again try to do both and succeed at neither.
we barely knew ye
Immediately after this, all four generals show up with Hikaru and brag that theyāre reviving the Dark King, and if the girls want to stand a chance they have to revive the queen, after all isnāt that what theyāve been working towards? Honoka and Nagia adamantly reject this, finally. Sure, there's been uncertainty all along, which has grown stronger as the girls' friendship with Hikari blossomed, but they always brushed off the subject of whether they truly wanted to revive the queen and lose Hikari. I'm glad to see them state in no uncertain terms, especially to Baldez and in front of Hikari, that they value her friendship and identity. The dilemma over removing the queen at the cost of a friend's existence is interesting and will be explored again to an extent in Dokidoki, but for now let me say I wish they'd touched on it more before these last few episodes.
The Dark King is reborn and he begins to mindlessly consume the Garden of Rainbows while the four villains attack the Precures. It's a great fight, nobody is holding back anymore and the stakes are higher than ever. Duplicitous attacks abound and the girls are barely holding their own. At the same time, Hikari transforms to defend herself and reaches out to Hikaru, who is still standing in a bath of dark energy. She can see that he's crying, he doesn't want this to happen, and she tries to rescue him from the control of the King. She hugs him and holds him close as Lulun activates the shield around them... but as she does, the King releases more chains that land in front of them, leaving us uncertain about their fate as the scene fades and the credits roll. And much like last season, the somber cliffhanger ending feels completely at odds with the upbeat ending song, as much as I like Wonder Winter Yatta.
Itās a great episode undercut by moments that would have been more powerful if the show to this point hadnāt been so wishy-washy and noncommittal, but I do really like the conclusion. Hikaru rejecting his fate and identity as the life of the Dark King, and also rejecting the companionship of the four generals who, as he is realizing, only wanted what was inside of him, is great. Hikari is ready to accept him as the innocent child he is, and protect him from those who would do him harm, even as she is struggling with her own identity crisis. She knows she is wanted by her friends but thereās still tremendous pressure on her shoulders to become the Queen again and this can all be resolved. Weāll see the result of this in the remaining two episodes but I want to say that this theme of identity and self has been one of the better parts of the series.
Some small things that I want to point out in appreciation:
* a scene near the start showing all the side characters going about their lives with Nagisa/Honoka, Intelligen, and Elder (yeah heās involved in this too) discussing the impact of the Dark Kingās resurrection, with the implication that theyāll all be gone if they donāt revive the Queen.
mainly because I think Yuriko got shafted this season
Thereās also shots of their families going about their lives, including the only known picture of Nagisaās mom with friends.
And also the melancholy piano tune that plays over this scene. Really sets the tone of the episode.
Side note, Intelligen and Wishun the only Heartiels who have made recurring appearances after entering the Chairect. I low-key wish that more had recurred to chip in their wisdom or insight.
Thatās all I have to say about this one, and itās more than I meant, but hey, itās a finale. Next time, Seekun enters the Chairect!

Why I should check my work
I just got done watching MH21 and the recap for 20 alone reminded me of a few plot points I forgot to bring up, like the introduction of Wishun and Nagisa's commentary that tied into the whole theme of the episode, which I completely forgot about: eventually everybody has to go their own way. The partnership between Nagisa, Honoka, Hikari, and their mascots is fleeting and temporary. Eventually they'll restore Hikari to the Queen and Mipple, Mepple, and Porun will return to the garden of light. Valuing your relationships in the moment is important but you can't hold people back from what they need to do. (This theme comes up a lot and mixes with "they're leaving the team" plots like in MH19.) In the name of being overly critical I completely lost the point of that episode in my review, and I apologize. If you noticed the watch date you'll realize there was a 5 day gap between watching and posting about it which attributes to my forgetfulness. In this regard, screenshots helped me as a form of visual note taking so not doing that inhibits my creative juices in a different way. There's no winning. Maybe I should set up automatic screenshots but that could result in too many or not getting the full text of important scenes. Anyway. I'll try to go back and revise my MH20 review, or just completely repost it, and pump out the 21 review tonight or tomorrow.

"Arson, murder, and jaywalking" is just a cliche; "arson, jaywalking, and murder" might have been listed by someone with oddly strong opinions about crosswalk laws.

..............................................................
So i actually have been informed that this stupid meaningless banter will vanish at some point almost completely. As such, i will now cease complaining about it, unless it is especially grating or nonsensical. So yeah, i am very glad that this is a series that apparently actually improves on its weaknesses over time. Thumbs up.
.....This has potential. Letās see if it delivers.
Evil tiger Zakenna is prettyy good. Nothing super special, but itās aight.
6/10
I know this is suppoesed to be comical but.....It IS pretty badass.
Me too Wishun, me too.
This is a ridiculously moody stage for a confrontation. If they donāt use it i will be severely disappointed.
Oh man, the tension is great.
So great that i just noticed that i have used 7 pictures for this post instead of the usual 5. Huh.

Precure Day 084
Episode: Futari wa Precure Max Heart 34 -Ā āTravel, Friends! Field Trip, Zakenna!?ā Date watched: 21 October 2018 Original air date: 16 October 2005 Screenshots:Ā https://imgur.com/a/QRmVyhP
Have you ever seen a picture that summarizes Nagisa so well without food?
Is this the best episode of Precure Max Heart? Absolutely not. Is it my favorite? No way. But do I love it? Absolutely. Itās just so fun! Itās the class trip to Kyoto, and if you know anything about our cast, you know theyāll ham it up. I mean just look at that picture. (for the record, strange art aside, Honoka is just kind of looking at Nagisa likeĀ āwtfā, not purposefully being silly)
I could describe the fun the elder girls get into in more detail but honestly I wouldnāt do the fun any justice, just watch the episode. Back in Koizumi Gakuen, Hikari is feeling kind of lonely, but several spooky encounters and an ominous warning from Wishun perturb her to the point where she ends up sneaking off to Kyoto. Lastly, in the Dark Mansion, the butlers cannot find Hikaru anywhere.....
That night, a big pillow fight erupts in the girlsā hotel room and when Mrs. Yoshimi comes to shut them up, she predictably takes a pillow to the face. Then she gets involved as well.
The next day,Ā more fun in Kyoto as Nagisa and Honoka win a costume prize to dress up in period outfits:
Nagisa wants to see her favorite period drama getting filmed and she actually stumbles into someone who works on it, a propmaster, whose body of work even homages old kaiju films. However, Uraganos shows up, getting way too into the role of a villain from a samurai drama in voice and mannerisms. He turns the old kaiju costume into a zakenna and it gives Black and White a run for their money until, at the eleventh hour, Hikari shows up, transforms, and dispels it long enough for her friends to summon the Sparkle Braces (itās been a few episodes, hasnāt it?) and blow everybody away with Marble Screw Max Spark. As the dust settles, theyāre left wondering how the heck theyāre going to explain Hikari to their teacher.... which is honestly a good question.
While the animation in this episode is notably lackluster (while not being as outright bad as some earlier episodes), the scenery and sights and the general opportunity afforded by changing the setting to Kyoto for once more than make up for it, and spending a few days with these fun characters in this environment is a delight. Even Uraganos acting like a heās in a jidai-geki show cracked me up. I was reminded of a few things I myself saw during my trip to Japan back in 2009 (before I got into Precure actually, though not by much, and I had a passing awareness of it by that point), such as the fountain and temples. Itās all around fun and thereās also a clear passion that went into making this and making a bunch of homages to the more historical side of Japanese culture. And on top of that, the fun continues for another episode! So come back tomorrow (I promise itāll actually be tomorrow) for the second half of this journey, and to find out how people react to a first year joining the third years on their trip.
Oh also Hikaru appears on a street at the end and a new Heartiel, Prosen, appears to say a few lines.

Precure Day 071
Episode: Futari wa Precure Max Heart 21 -Ā āWhat happened? What to do!? A forbidden encounterā Date watched: 01 October 2018 Original air date: 03 July 2005 Screenshots: https://imgur.com/a/kEZsCAh
uh oh
So uh, remember like yesterday when I said it would be a while before Hikari and Hikaru met? Allow me to stick my foot in my mouth here. But first letās back up.
This is actually a really good Hikari episode. She makes friends with a boy whoās running away from home, Daiki, and helps him realize that his mother truly cares about him despite his feelings to the contrary. Also she kind of mourns her own lack of parents, but at the end Akane fills that role nicely. Is this the payoff to her hint from episode.... what was it, 9? about wanting to start a family? Itās something. She certainly treats Hikari like her own child, adopting her without a second thought (even if it was initially kind of brainwashing sheās more than fulfilled her obligation, and thatās another thing we see come back in later shows).
Side note, Daiki resembles the hell out of Kenta from Precure Splash Star, and I thought he might even share the same seiyuu, but I guess Takeuchi Junko (Kenta and later Cure Rouge) was too busy recording Naruto filler at this time because itās actually Akemi Okamura.
Anyway the other half of this episode features Hikaru finally setting foot into the world outside the mansion, closely monitored by the butler zakenna. He has a lot of innocent wonder for the reincarnation of the dark king (technically spoilers but that was obvious) and thereās some silly antics until he and Hikari run into each other, and suddenly the world goes dark.
Wishun is afraid of this meeting, the fairies are all perturbed, and even Viblis feels the instant change in mood from back in the mansion. Nagisa and Honoka are right around the corner to witness this, and good thing too because Circulas rushes in to try to destroy Hikari. They stop him in a no-holds barred beatdown that might be one of the best fights in the show so far. Hikariās aura of light causes Hikaru to faint from exhaustion, and Viblis snatches him and the butlers away right before Circulas finds himself on the receiving end of a Marble Screw Max. He tries to block it but as usual heās unsuccessful and retreats back to the mansion. Hikari is also tired from the encounter, and Akane embraces her when she returns back to the stand.
Itās a really good episode in every regard that i can think of. Okay some of the animation is a bit weak but thereās some good closeups and mid shots, the city fading to black when the reincarnations of light and darkness meet, the fight between Black and White and Circulas, itās all great. The emotion is powerful, though not climax powerful, and the musical cues are fitting. Despite not transforming in this episode, Hikari truly shines when sheās talking to Kanta and you can see sheās starting to come into her own as an individual. (also she gets some cute scenes in her pajamas so thatās a plus)
Now that these two have met, what will happen? Find out next time on Pretty Cure Z! I mean Max Heart. I mean whatever.
