I ran out of time last WIP Wednesday to post my latest in progress thing (I'll post it this coming WIP Wednesday), but it is Maddie's bday soon and I felt bad if I didn't post something for the occasion, so here's the entry for this month's prompt, Maddie edition.

Regular WIP Wednesday warnings apply here today too: Raw, unedited, incomplete writing that cuts off suddenly, original character featured, fluff, Maddie confusing Harr with future tech, etc. I know it says 'six sentence' Sunday, but... obviously, this is longer than six sentences. I don't care, it's Maddie's bday month, she deserves more than six sentences.

Most of his life, Harr preferred the quiet. Quiet to study to, bird song at his window, the sound of dip pens scratches filling the silence. The Magic Tower was quiet too, in the areas he worked in, only the occasional hum of magic filling anyone's ears.

Then, there was the loudness to punctuate his quiet days. Sirius's laughter as he patted his back, mostly with more than necessary force. Lancelot's quiet chuckle at Sirius's antics. A festival in Central celebrating the coming spring. Lancelot's booming declaration of war. The screams in the Magic Tower. Loki's cries in the night whenever the rain pounded on the roof. His own cries when he felt the magic burns on his arm and in his eye.

As much as he had preferred his quiet life of scratching pens and song birds, it was one he couldn't go back to, even if he wanted. He absently scratched his arm, the bandaging starting to chafe his scars.

He sighed and stood up, intent on looking for the first aid kit and change his bandages.

Then, his ears picked up on a small sound, not unlike his morning song birds.

"Dearest broom~ Beloved little broom~" he peeked around a corner, spying Maddie with her arms out in front of her, her palms up in a welcoming gesture. Opposite her was a regular, humble broom, bristles made of straw and dry brush with a slightly crooked handle. Maddie's eyes started glowing red.

"Lets sweep up the room, my little broom~"

Harr watched, waiting to see if anything would come of the little magic song. Incantations weren't unheard of in Cradle to use magic by, it just wasn't as common as using magic crystals. Harr had been fascinated by Maddie's magic, a combination of her Alice powers of shielding magic along with this strange knack for making inanimate objects move or lucky just by singing in the object's general direction. He honestly wanted to study it more, but, as Maddie had been living most of her life in the Land of Reason, she didn't have enough of a nurturing environment to develop her powers very far, aside from maybe the rare influence if she concentrated hard enough.

Now, however…

He held his breath, watching as the broom rattled, shaking against the chair it had been leaning against.

"Please, little broom~" Maddie coaxed in a gentle voice, "let's sweep up the room together~"

The broom continued to rattle, as if held by an invisible hand, struggling to pick up the broom.

Maddie took a single step back, moving her hands in a pulling motion, willing the broom to come towards her.

His eye widened as the broom moved forward on it's own. Maddie moved another step back, the broom following her. Maddie grinned pierced ear to pierced ear, a squeak of laughter escaping her.

Her joy didn't last long as the broom stopped, frozen in place, and started to fall. Maddie leaped to catch it before it hit the floor, and sighed. Harr smiled softly and entered the room, putting a hand on her shoulder.

"You're getting better." he said.

"You think so?"

"Yes." he nodded, "you couldn't get it to move at all before."

"I'm getting that much closer to Cradle's version of a roomba." she said quietly but proudly.

"A roo-what?"

"A roomba. It's a self-propelled vacuum that-"

"Vacuum?"

"Ah, a Land of Reason thing." she tried to explain, "It's… like if you combined a broom with a… a rubbish bin! Quite the useful tool."

When trope voting is open, you can find the form here: Trope Voting Form

Only complete the form once.

The form has a starter question - whether or not you’re a writer. This means that if you have written and posted destiel fanfics, you can choose the writer option; if you just read fics, then you can choose the reader option.

From here you’ll be either taken to the list for writers or readers depending on your initial answer. Both lists are identical.

You may choose whichever tropes you like up to 31 as there are only 31 days in May.

After you have chosen, you can use the last box to let me know if there’s anything else you’d like to say. If you ask a question here, I’ll make a post on the blog answering it.

Remember that trope voting is anonymous.

SUBMISSIONS:

When Submissions are open there will be a link to the Submission Form.

It will ask you to input an email address - this is only used in order to send a copy of the completed form to you. This means that you can see which ones you’ve submitted. The next question is your Tumblr username. This is to be written in the simple format for example: ‘envydean’. Please do not give a link here or use the @ symbol.

If you do not have a Tumblr account, that is completely fine. Just write your username and whichever platform it’s used on.

Next is the title of the fic you’re submitting. 

Please make sure that it has the right capitalisation that you want it to have as this will not change after submission.

The rating is based on the AO3 rating system as 99% of fics submitted are hosted on AO3.

The options are: General, Teen & Up, Mature, Explicit, No Rating

This must match the content of the fic.

You will be asked if the fic is a work in progress. This requires a simple yes, or no, answer.

You should check yes if your work is still incomplete and is being updated.

Please make sure your fic has been updated within the last month. If it hasn’t please refrain from submitting it.

Next is word count.

This figure must be the exact number and not rounded to the nearest 100 or 1000, it will be not be added to the list if so.

If it is a WIP, please put the most recent word count. I’ll check back on the most current word count, or if it has since been completed, when I post.

Please don’t add commas, the form doesn’t like it.

The tags and warnings should be the most important ones.

Tags about not using a beta, how fast it was written, etc are not needed. This makes sure that each fic submission is succinct and easy to read.

Please make sure each tag is comma separated.

It has been requested in feedback to add the relevant top/bottom!character tags where necessary.

If submitting to Season 15 Fix-its, it has been requested that authors add whether Cas is human or not in their story.

The summary should be as is posted.

If you need line breaks in it, then add those in too and I’ll do my best to make sure they come across in the final post.

The link to the fic should be a web URL to whichever story you are submitting.

If you are posting a fic that has multiple chapters, please make sure the link is to the first chapter.

Submitting a fic which is a collection of several (smaller) fics is not allowed. For instance, if your fic is a collection of flufftober fills, and only the fill for day 14 (chapter 14) fits, you cannot submit this fic or fill. They need to be posted as separate stories.

The next question is the trope your submitting to.

You can only check one trope per fic.

Use your best judgement to decide which one it should go in if it contains more than one. If you’re really indecisive, flip a coin.

You cannot put one fic into two (or more) categories.

Please only submit up to two fics per category - this has been requested via feedback for a few years.

"I mainly write Genshin Impact X readers, the gender chosen for the reader is strictly Gender Neutral. Unless, asked or if I say so. I tend to write extremely long fics, they may vary from below 5k to 10k+ words."

"I normally do Oneshots and some hcs, I also tend to write Character x Character, but rarely. Perhaps some 18+ stuff too, but nothing too spicy as I feel slightly uncomfortable writing anything like that, especially when I have little to no experience in writing. After all, writing is just a little hobby."

I do love scary and horror movies, so if you don’t, or that bothers you, just avoid this. I won’t make anything scary really, but I will incorporate some classic spooky films and scenarios. Like a love letter to my favs!

I’ll post previews on here, the full work on A03. I will also link other spooky works I’ve created for others below. This is a multi-fandom thing, like everything I do. I’ll have an assortment of readers and ocs as well. Some of these may be expanded at another time, but for now, they are all just drabbles or oneshots.
