WIP Wednesday Game

It’s WIP Wednesday, time for a little accountability, sharing your work, and getting a kick in the pants.

Here’s how it works:

In a reblog of this post (so people can find you in the notes) or new thread (w/ rules attached) if you want to play on your own, post up to five (5) filenames of your WIPs; not titles, file names.

Post a snippet from one of them. Snippet must be words you wrote in the last 7 days. We’re posting progress here. If you haven’t made any, go make some and come back to play!

After you’ve posted, people can send you an ask with one of your file names. You must then write 3 sentences in that file. If the filename is one you can't share from (for example, an event or gift fic), write 3 sentences on it anyway, and then 3 more on another to share.

WIP Wednesday Game Fills

@wizisbored @anachronismstellar @eriquin and @kallisto-k all requested Trading Up today in the WIP Wednesday Game Community. Here are your sentences. Thanks for making me write!

By the time Stiles, with Derek’s help, finishes filling Scott in on everything they know about Deaton, Stiles is firmly ensconced under Derek’s arm and Derek thinks it would be impossible for Scott to grow any paler.

“You mean Deaton could have saved Allison?”

Scott’s voice wavers. Stiles was right in his prediction that Scott would focus on the hunter’s death first. Stiles shifts against Derek like he’s going to pull away, but Detek tightens his arm until he subsides.

“We don’t know details, yet, but Deaton at least had the resources to find out how to stop the darach and find our parents. Even if the nogitsune had been released, without the ritual I wouldn’t have had any darkness in my heart for it to latch onto. He probably could have helped us defeat it sooner as well.”

Stiles’ voice has a colorless quality that Derek hates. He turns his head and kisses Stiles on the temple. Stiles gives him a quick, distracted smile. Derek smiles back, trying to make it reassuring.

WIP Wednesday

Life has been pretty mean to me lately and I want to write, but I don’t want to put too much more pressure on myself, so I’m doing this WIP Wednesday differently. Whichever gets the most votes is the one I’ll work on and post something about…Next Wednesday.

Brief summaries of the WIP’s are below the cut.

you mean it isn’t normal to cuddle your drug dealer? - the one where Steve needs help and Eddie has a better idea than just weed.

Cleaning Headstones - Steve likes to go to the cemetery and give people their names back.

Lazy Petals - taking my grandparents love story and making it Steddie.

Secret Elven Prince - Steve escaped from the Fae Realm and finds himself relying on a human from a trailer park to stay safe. Dungeons and Dragons becomes a guilty pleasure.

Claudia Henderson POV - this part focuses more on Claudia’s relationship with Wayne rather than her adopting Steve and helping him realize he has a family who loves him.

Oral Fixation - Steve constantly has something in his mouth, most of the time it’s candy. Sometimes, it’s one of Eddie’s rings.

Code Red at Harrington’s - Eddie comes back wrong, but that doesn’t stop Steve from taking him in and trying to help him rediscover his humanity.

Vampires and Shifters and… Dragons? - Eddie comes back wrong, Steve has always been a shapeshifter, and not all dragons are as bad as they could be.

Trans!Steddie - Steve is mtf and Eddie is ftm and they are both so incredibly in love with each other that it’s kind of sickening to those around them.

*Currently Untitled* - it’s also currently more of a brainstorm. Meant to be a surprise, but I’ll still work on it if it wins.

Inbox - I have a decent amount of prompts in the ol’ inbox. If this one wins, I’ll work on the one that I think will be the easiest for me to get the furthest on.

Excerpt from Renee as a Wesninski

The woman to Dan’s left stood out to Neil immediately. Her white hair was dyed with pastel rainbows at the tips, but that wasn’t what drew him up short. The face staring back at him was one he would always recognize. Even with different hair and nearly six years since he had seen her, nearly six years since his mother said she was dead, he was now face to face with his sister.

Natalie Renee Wesninski was a spitting image of their mother. They had the same gray eyes, softly rounded nose, the same smile, though he had rarely seen his mother smile. Her dyed hair, no longer the deep brown of her natural shade, was the only thing that stood her apart from the mother he lost a year earlier. Grief quickly overtook the anger at Andrew and Kevin, overtook the shock of seeing his sister again for the first time in years, replaced with a bone deep ache for the mother he had lost and the sister he had thought he lost too.

Theo glared at him. “Fuck you, absolutely not. I’m not sacrificing my dignity for that.”

Corey huffed and started gathering his things to leave. “For what? For Liam? Considering you were the one to fall in love with him, I thought you’d agree he was worth sacrificing a few things, but I guess not.”

Snippet of the Week: Let Them Fight/Fool Me Once, Shame on Yew

“Okay, actually, pay attention this time,” Theo huffed, turning back to Isaac, purposefully ignoring the two different growls. 

One made him smile while the other had him wincing. Whoever had decided to put both Liam and Malia in this week’s group was insane. Each of them alone was distracting enough, for wholly opposite reasons. He rolled his shoulders, trying to shake off the lingering, whatever that clung onto him whenever the werecoyote was around. Three months was plenty of time to work out her fucking issues, or it should have been, so he thought. But no. A quarter of a year later, and here he was still dealing with the threats of snapped necks, bullets to the gut, or claws in his throat on a near daily basis. To top it all off, every time Malia so much as looked in his direction, Liam was growling on posturing, regardless of how many times he had been told it wasn’t his fight. The whole situation was so utterly fucked, all three of them near constantly on edge and the rest of the pack slowly getting thoroughly embroiled in it. 

A sharp blow to his sternum knocked him back and the air from his chest. Theo’s eyes snapped back into focus, gold flaring in them as he snarled for a split second. Staring back at him, an eyebrow cocked halfway up to his stupid blind curls and mouth opening like he was about to say something that was going to just make the whole thing worse, was Isaac. The dull ache from the blow faded to the background, his focus sliding into place, narrowing to the “enemy” in front of him.

WIP Wednesday

Supernaut 🏥 - the one where Eddie does research on head injuries for a very injured Steve Harrington. (This one I actually have a decent amount written out for the next chapter I just have to go back and edit + I have all of it planned out)

Megalomania 🦇 - vampire pirate Eddie meets con artist Steve who has daddy issues. (I also have most of this one planned out and began some writing for it but don’t want to spoil to much in summary)

For this WIP Week imma keep it small! And with two pieces that I’m actually working on. My goal is to actually finish something I write as I have an attention problem. So spam the fuck out of me if you want. (Also both of the titles are Black Sabbath)

Day Two (of a Light Hope).

Chisa remains with Mitsuki until Kyoko returns.  Makoto does, too, although she mentions once or twice that he can leave Mitsuki safely with her (in a not dissimilar manner to the way Mitsuki suggests that she and Makoto will be fine if Chisa leaves).  She still doesn’t feel particularly good about leaving Mitsuki alone with Kyoko and Makoto, but she needs privacy to discuss her theories with….

Like the rooms in the old school building (and like the dorms at Hope’s Peak once were, before they were destroyed), the room in which Mitsuki is contained is soundproof: no sound comes in, no sound comes out.  Of course, this means that sitting in the hallway outside Chisa won’t be able to hear anything that Kyoko, Makoto, and Mitsuki might discuss.  But in the same manner, it means that none of them will be able to hear her.

Chisa pulls out her phone and makes a video call.

Derek slows and trots over to sniff at the garment. That he will catch the human boy tonight has never been in question. He has no need to rush. The only thing not yet determined by their very natures is what happens when he catches his prey.

Although, their natures may have determined that for them as well, he thinks when he smells Stiles’ come.

At first, Derek thinks the scent is coming from the hoodie. As he pads closer, he realizes Stiles came on the ground there. Crazy to think he has time to jerk off with a wolf snapping at his heels, but clever enough to know Derek wouldn’t be able to just ignore it.

He might regret rolling all over that patch of earth until it smells of both of them tomorrow, when he’s back in his human form. Tonight it feels like the most natural thing to do.

He sits up and howls, letting all of the lust and triumph and thrill of the chase ring true. He hears a joyous whoop in return and sets off after it. Sets off after Stiles, his Stiles, the clever boy to his wolf.

Stiles makes the chase good. He conceals his movements well, but his scent is too deeply engrained in Derek’s psyche for him to ever truly hide it. Besides, these are Derek’s woods and it’s a full moon. No one can hide from him there tonight. Not even a clever human with magic. Still, he provides enough of a challenge to make it a pleasure to seek him.

Snippet from TLT Chapter 9

“Just between you and me—in the last loop Steve and I got, um, very close. We shared a lot of private things with each other. I’m—”

Eddie swallowed hard. He really was almost sure he could trust her, but that didn't mean fear didn’t sit like a lead weight in his gut when he thought about uttering the words aloud.

“–Gay, and I haven’t been open with many people about it, but I told him, and he was really great about it.” He smiled to himself at the memory, how quick Steve had been to assure him he was safe, and how unbelievably sweet. “So much more than you’d expect.” 

Suddenly he felt Chrissy's much smaller hand slide over his, and looked up to meet her eyes.

“I’m glad you told me.”
