Alright that's it, the lot of y'all need a day off! Mandatory vacation day starts now, what's the game plan?

Lanolin's vision filled entirely with the face of Director Jewel's, the normally sunny-demeanored beetle looking dead serious for a change.

"No can'ts. No buts. You have three-hundred-fifty-two hours of paid leave saved up. Tangle and Whisper have already agreed. Kit has already agreed. You. Are. Taking. A. Day. Off."

The way Jewel's wide eyes wobbled and flickered as they stare into her own like twin abysses instilled a deep and primal terror in the sheep, who was immediately twitching and shifting nervously as she started to nod: "O-Okay. Okay! I'll go! Just, I don't know what I'm going to be doing yet, so." Like a switch had been flipped, Jewel's demeanor changes entirely back to the easygoing little office lady, beaming at Lanolin: "Oh, that's already been decided." Lanolin, cautiously: "It, uh... it has?" "You guys are going to have a beach episode!"

Emerald Coast was generally pretty placid as far as beaches go. A relatively gentle, easygoing tide rocked Tangle the Lemur as she floated on her back, adrift just a little off of shore. Lanolin watched her, terribly sweaty. The heat of beaches didn't really sit well with Lanolin. Too much wool, plus unrestrained sun and hot sand, plus the coastline humidity? She'd tied most of it up and back even more than usual, and traded out her very functional clothes for a two piece swimsuit that she'd bought a couple years back and never had any real reason to use, and even then she was feeling the heat. But she had to admit, the place was gorgeous. The water was so blue! "Why are you two being so boring? The water's nice and relaxing today!" Tangle called out to her from a distance. It was the... Sixth? Time she'd done so since Whisper wandered off to go find them some chili dogs, and left the hyperactive girl without a playmate. "I'll come out there in a bit, Tangle. Lemme stretch out and relax a little!" She called, finally giving in to the demand but putting it off just a little longer. Water and wool didn't mix well, but she'd worry about that later. She glanced over to her side at Kit, who had of course not responded. The fennec was dealing with the heat admirably in comparison to her; he looked entirely at home lying on a beach towel in those baggy swim trunks she'd bought him on the way here, hands behind his head with cool shades over his eyes (She had no idea where he'd gotten those, to be fair). "Sure you don't want to go out there and play?" "I don't really like swimming. " Although it was the usual turning down of fun and excitement, he didn't sound dull or unhappy. Actually, he sounded remarkably relaxed. Like he belonged by the sea. She could tell he liked it despite his attempts to the contrary. Maybe he was just hot-natured? She could only imagine how miserable staying in Winterburg must have been for him. She was about to interrogate him further, but Tangle interrupted her with another call.

"If y'all don't wanna come out in the water... I'm gonna bring the water to you!" The lemur had gotten out of the water far enough to be standing not far from them. It was close enough for Lanolin to see what she was doing and react with horror as she watched the lemur shift her thick tail to rest beside her and then PUSH! The sproingly appendage raked across the surface of the water and then burst out of it, and with it came an enormous mass of sea water in a huge crescent, directly at them. "TANGLE, YOU-!" She put her hands up, but the inevitable drenching never came. After a few seconds she closed her eyes, and they widened with surprise: the huge splash had turned into a big globe, hovering in midair above them. Kit had one of his arms extended, still completely neutral-faced in those sunglasses as he drew lazy patterns in the air with his fingers. Inevitably, that giant mass of water began to levitate towards the awestruck lemur now standing on the shoreline watching it with her mouth open. "Ah! K-Kit! Buddy, old pal! Can't we talk about this?" She stammered, slowly beginning to take step backwards as the huge mass followed her. "No talking. Now is Lemur Destruction Time," he said with a yawn. Tangle began to sprint down the beach away from them, wailing, her impending doom hovering behind her faster and faster. "Food's here. I'll, um. Hold onto Tangle's for now." A quiet voice came from behind them. Lanolin and Kit turned to find a familiar wolf in a sporty blue swimsuit behind them, smiling with a small platter of chili dogs. Somewhere off in the distance, there was a massive splash sound and a vocalization that sounded something like "blrrrrghbblglglglbl".

"Thank you," Lanolin said with a little smile, accepting a veggie dog and an Icee from the wolf. She handed over a teriyaki-jalapeno dog to Kit not long after, the fennec immediately beginning to dig in. Neither of them mentioned the strange faces he was making as he was eating it, as they understood why he got it well enough.

The day would proceed rather swimmingly; and not just because more swimming followed once they finally got Tangle toweled off! Food by the beach, a stop at the arcade where Kit blew them all away clearing Golden Axe with a single credit, some shopping in Station Square... All in all, a very relaxing day. You need one of those now and then, or you'll start going crazy.

A Spark That Won't Go Out Chapter 21

Chapter 21 is here! The final battle for Winterburg has begun. Whisper's resolve prepares to be tested. Sonic and Surge have a nice plane ride.

i ran a sonic based dnd campaign for a year

my folders on drive and on my desktop are filled with so much crap

we didn’t get to finish it but the campaign document was sitting at around 130 slides and we still had a final stretch to go. it was post metal virus arc by a few months, sonic didn’t come back immediately (in fact he wasn’t sent to the Sol Dimension, he warped to the Twilight Cage. the players who knew Sonic expected Sol Dimension. i robbed their minds. i ROBBED them. THATS RIGHT. DARK BROTHERHOOD WAS BEING WORKED INTO IT. LOOSELY. WE CLOWN IN THIS MOTHERFATHER.) so Amy didn’t step down but Jewel did become her administrator of the Logistics branch of the Restoration, while Amy lead the Security branch. 

i made a custom warlock subclass (balance unsure) for wisps patron that had an experimental prototype variable wispon the restoration was testing based off of whisper’s

i pieced together a map of the main continent based off of: tabbing in and out of the sonic forces map screen to get the rough landmass and locations of “zones”; some work people online did to try the same thing; cream’s WRONG map (she says thats north but cuhLEARLY in forces this cannot be the case dear god help me you stYUPID CHILD); and amy’s Restoration map was of no help to me at all because it shows Central City on the coast where Seaside/Sunset would have been, and also on a northern shoreline while barricade town is on the end of an entire peninsula. so i FIXED it. i fixed ALL of it. also there is a small town named Degrassi near the snowline south of Winterburg. because we love Degrassi. make it canon Evan Stanley if you somehow stumble across this. whisper into Flynn’s ear like wormtongue and get this done for me, whatever it takes, because i know you can make it through. maybe name it like Dagrassy. idk you’re the talent not me.

we had started in 2020 and played for two months before taking a year hiatus to play a magical girl campaign in the FATE system. some highlights of the campaign:

at one point early on, a piece of the orbiting ruined Death Egg fell to the earth in an event known as a “Death Fall” and landed on Orchardville. the players got to team up with Whisper to infiltrate it and deactivate the systems onboard controlling the badniks coming out of it. mimic was also there to steal data for starline.

the Bad Guys didnt split up like in canon, instead eggman had been working real lowkey on finding where sonic warped to to finish him off, and starline became better at being a leader. mimic was still doing stealth ops. rough and tumble were given a task of leading bandit activity in the western part of the continent to keep the Restoration busy. honestly, i just didn’t want to think about what to do with the Zeti so they never came up. its a whole thing. probably not well thought out grand scheme but no one asked questions about the Zeti.

i stole the entirety of the death house from curse of strahd but toned it down to just make a spooky haunted house segment near windmill village and i played the instrumental loop of pumpkin hill for at least 30 minutes at one point as ambience.

one of the players had a truck that over time got suped up with upgrades to be a complete wrecking ball with a lightning cannon to shock badniks and an on-board AI the inventor made based off of his boss, Lanolin, named LAN who would activate with the phrase LAN-Online.

the players helped begin the healing of the Green Sand Hill Zone by uncovering the underground main hub Egg Pyramid that had been controlling the Egg Pyramids in Forces and were draining oil out from the earth. they fought Thunderbolt the Chinchilla there, who had been running the operation for Eggman while he was working on his grander plans.

one player was offered a FIST BUMP in the first session by Lanolin and refused cause the character was an old grouch. this stain on their character was never cleaned.

there were several starline’d versions of badniks that appeared the closer they got to his operations. incredibly obvious knock offs with a new color scheme. starline also freaking died by being outplayed by Eggman.

there was a recurring merchant they met in the first city and almost every major city afterwards who was actually a wizard who inherited wealth from their bastard father and decided to open up a series of pawn shops across the world called Thorne’s Tradery (her name was Juliet Thorne). she refused to use offensive magic out of an oath she took, but was doing her best to help the Restoration by supplying their agents (and civilians) with easy access to a fair place to trade and possibly get magic/advanced tech items (not for civilians).

i did what SEGdont and had Tangle and Whisper finally resolve their blatant romantic tension with the aid of the player characters. we stan these lesbian queens. tangle was a monk who had “determination” or something instead of Ki, and whisper was the same warlock subclass as the player character, but a lower level. i never got around to making an amy statblock but she was going to be a battlemaster fighter with some character feat type stuff akin to divination wizard’s portent, and would have focused around giving players advantages/extra actions in combat when not beating stuff with her hammer.

the finale was going to have the entire team go super-mode via chaos emeralds (screw the canon) and fighting a giant invasive monstrosity from the twilight cage threatening to destroy Central City, while Sonic was still dealing with REALITY SICKNESS from his time spent in the cage. they’d have had unique abilities, a theme song on their turn (Endless Possibilities Rockestrate My World version, Reach for the Stars, What I’m Made Of, and Knight of the Wind), and a one-time reaction called “We’re All Counting on You” that would have provided them with an emergency supply of rings from notable NPCs they had bonded with during the game. it was going to be hype.

i was far FAR too lazy to draw my own characters on top of maps and writing everything, so i used a freaking ton of OCs i found online as character pieces. possibly controversial to some, but i never passed them off as my own and knew i’d never be able to draw or show artwork of them in any posts online i made about the campaign cause they aren’t my characters. so unfortunately, i cannot make or post artwork of player character Periwinkle the Pangolin making out with her witch girlfriend Rosaline the Fox. i did make this little guy though: Georgie Greenhorne, the deer, and avid child scout. he has several badges.

anyway decided to finally make use of this account to post something of substance and then probably nothing else.

i also found this old meme i made about one of my player’s Forces OC (the brown dog) and mine, who appeared in the campaign as the CANONICAL BUDDY near the end to fist bump with knuckles. i also have this cursed lanolin with no fluff in the back. check it out. tell your friends.

Nigeria’s Simidele Adeagbo Set To Make History In Bobsleigh

According to her, the feat is a testament to hard work, hoping it will inspire the younger generation of girls.

Simidele Adeagbo is set to make history as the first African to participate in bobsleigh at the BMW IBSF World Championship in Winterburg, Germany.

“This weekend I will make history for Nigeria🇳🇬 as the 1st African athlete to compete in bobsleigh at the BMW IBSF World Chams,” she wrote on her X account.

“This is the FIRST time ever the continent of Africa will be represented in bobsleigh at a World Champs in the 100 years since @ibsfsliding was founded.

“I want to take a moment to celebrate this significant barrier that took a century to break. Too often our historic contributions are not recognized, undervalued, and forgotten. So as we celebrate BHM, I’m honored to write another chapter in the new future of sport.”

According to her, the feat is a testament to hard work, hoping it will inspire the younger generation of girls.

“This first will be forever recorded in history, paving the way for greater access and inclusion in the primarily Eurocentric, male-dominated sport of bobsleigh. This historic moment is a testament to hard work and dreaming more than others think is practical,” Simidele wrote.

Kit, what's you go to kind of video games? (If you've got one) You strike me as a RPG fan or a Satisfactory kind of guy.

The second RPGs are mentioned, the fennec’s eyes light up. It looks for a moment that he’s about to launch into an uncharacteristically excited shpiel , hebut caught himself. Still, he couldn’t avoid a passionate clenching his fists in front of him as he began.

“RPGs are my favorite. The turn based ones, where you have to think. I love the character management and the stories.  When Surge and I were on the run she kept wanting me to snatch game consoles for her. At first I was confused why because she barely ever played them, but…” Well, eventually, he kind of figured out it was a pretext for getting him to lift stuff for himself. He smiled. “Either way, eventually the townspeople would be on to us and we had to leave all the stuff behind. Really, it was more like we were… Renting them. I never got to finish any.”

Kit wasn’t really able to keep his cool after getting started, though, continuing the somewhat long answer. The fox was now on a genuine kidlike gushing session about one of his fixations. Surge would be proud: “The best generation for them was the FunCast One. By the time the FunCast Two came out they started to get more polished but they kind of lost something. The stories weren’t as fun and the art got more boring. Surge never really liked them at all. Well, except for the ones with that mustachioed guy on the Dreamcube.” Those hadn’t interested him too much. Too simplistic for him, no matter how much the tenrec insisted the chubby protagonist was cool enough that it didn’t matter.

“I really wish I could finish Chrono Sword someday.  And XenoBots! Even though the back half of that game is supposed to be a mess...” He didn't mention it, but he also got to about halfway through Fantastic Fighting 9 and was really enjoying it! The thing was, the plot twist with the little guy in the pointy hat was…. A bit upsetting after some of the things he’d gone through in Winterburg.

Sonic the Hedgehog Analyzer, Issue #42: Zeti Hunt (Part 2)

When we left off in the last Issue, the Zeti had managed to gather and lure Sonic and Team Chaotix away from the Restoration HQ in an attempt to break into the place and destroy it. So, let’s see how the Restoration will handle being under attack and what their plan for the Zeti is.

We start off with Jewel basically having a zoom meeting with Team Chaotix, Tails and Sonic to go over their plan on how to handle the Zeti. Team Chaotix is currently in Sunset City. Tails is at his workshop at Central City, working on something. Sonic is at Winterburg, chilling on a couch with hot cocoa in hand.

Jewel asks Vector to brief them all on the situation, with Vector explaining that they figured out that the Zeti are attacking all the towns they attempted to control during the Zombot Fiasco (yeah, considering how many times I used the term, I figured I might as well continue with it), so since two towns are left over, the Chaotix and Sonic will attempt to ambush them. As for Tails, he has been working on something.

He presents everyone the Zeti Zapper, a device that turns their own electro-magnetic powers against them. It would disable them, allowing for easy capture and transport aboard the Zeti Launcher, which is basically a rocket that would sent them back to Lost Hex, never to be seen again.

Jewel is a bit worried that they might remove the Zappers or take control of the rocket, but Tails assures her that he built in safe-guards, so the toughest part would be to take everyone down.

Sonic tells Jewel to trust Tails and that things will be fine. However, despite his reassurances, Sonic appears to be worried. He notes how he had just saved Winterburg from Eggman and how he’s not going to let the Zeti destroy it. He thinks about how hard everyone worked to rebuilt everything and how they just want to forget the Zombot Fiasco, but it is hard with the likes of Eggman and Zeti around; and he’s also hoping the Babylon Rogues won’t try to create any trouble, or worse, that Starline might make another return.

Honestly, it is obvious that, despite his seemingly carefree attitude, Sonic tends to worry a lot. Sure, the greatest (most recent) crisis is over and the missions he had afterwards were on a smaller scale, but any of his enemies might cause trouble once again and destroy what the Restoration had just fixed. People just want to move on with their lives, but it is not possible when there are villains running around trying to undo their hard work.

Speaking of Starline, he’s at Emeraldville Ruins, right at the entrance to the Restoration HQ. After his defeat at White Park (which he himself was responsible for, the idiot), he decided to find Belle, geeking out over her design and construction, calling her an unique creation.

Okay, I can’t stay mad at this guy. Just look at the panel above, he is totally excited to have seen a completely unorthodox creation of his idol and wants to learn more about it. Admittedly, it is also a bit creepy because... well, this IS Starline we’re talking about and I doubt Belle would agree to be studied by him.

Anyways, he has figured that Belle is in Restoration HQ, and he notes how he can use the Tricore to storm it, but that is Eggman’s style, not his. He also notes how he will be identified by everyone, so using the hypno-glove won’t really work. In short, he needs to be stealthy, so he enters the shed, having seen people going inside but not leaving, and deduces that there is a trap door. After finding the correct lever, he notes how he cannot celebrate yet, as he hasn’t the time to establish a good distraction, which cues right into what is going on at the main entrance to Restoration HQ.

Speaking of distraction... Holy Hell! The Zeti really know how to make an entrance! 

They basically hijacked a truck, set it on fire and drove it straight into the main entrance, just casually walking inside. That’s pretty badass if you ask me.

Finally at Restoration HQ, they aren’t really impressed by what they see, and Zavok orders them to tear everything down, causing destruction all over the place and beating the security (with Zeena even doing Sonic’s iconic pose from Sonic Adventure; nice reference!). Zavok then gathers them up, saying how they’ll fight the Restoration’s soldiers as one.

Zavok wonders where the rest of the security is, but Zik figures that that’s all, explaining how people here cherish peace (duh, no surprise, they had dealt with a war several months ago), only being disturbed by Eggman’s madness (Ha! You’re right there, Grandpa!), and even then, they’re relying on Sonic and co. to save the day.

Zeena wonders what happens if someone takes their stuff or picks their fight, but Zik continues how they’re to kind and compassionate to do that, which grosses her out. I really, like how the Zeti cannot even comprehend how some people can just be nice to each other. It’s totally alien to them.

Zavok then commands they march right to the heart of their operations and just rip it out.

There is something I have to wonder about. Did it occur to them that, I dunno, someone might actually alert Sonic they’re at the base? I mean, it’s just a thought and a very likely possibility.

Starline witnesses the Zeti’s destruction and is shocked that Zavok is still alive, only to realize that he can use the ensuing chaos to his advantage. While the Zeti terrorize everyone, he can move around freely, but he still has to be careful not to be caught.

While Starline hopes that his enemies will keep each other occupied, we see Jewel, Tangle and Whisper in the main control room, having blocked it off and preparing for the battle. Jewel calls Team Chaotix, Tails and Sonic to tell them that the Zeti are here. Charmy is confused, as they had followed the clues, but Vector has figured that they had been baited and they run off back. Tails has packed up the Zeti Zappers and is most likely to arrive there first, telling Sonic they’ll go inside together. But, Sonic doesn’t answer, much to Tails’ confusion.

As for Sonic?

He’s already en route to Restoration HQ with a rather intense look on his expression. Like, damn, I don’t think I’ve seen him so pissed off since the Zombot Fiasco when he confronted Eggman and Starline.

You mess with Sonic’s friends, you mess with Sonic himself, and Gaia below help you if you make him angry.

Back at Restoration HQ, Zomom has wandered into the machine shop, with the guy in charge and Belle hiding there. Suddenly, Starline appears, hypnotizing Zomom into leaving and is quite surprised it worked so easily. The guy in charge thanks him for saving them, but Belle warns him that Starline is another Bad Guy.

The orangutan is confused, since he just saved them, but Starline quips how he can multi-task and asks him to hand over Belle. The dude refuses, noting how they all look after each other, even if Belle messes up (love how, despite losing his patience with her, he still cares a lot about Belle). Starline is pleasantly surprised to see that Belle is self-actualizing (uh, I think she was always like this) and Belle introduces herself.

Starline tells her how she left an impression on him (and kicked him in the face) and how she’d be pivotal to completing his project and how he will handle her with the utmost respect, seeing her as just another Eggman handicraft rather than a person.

The orangutan dude tells Starline that she isn’t coming with him and is about to knock him over with a pipe wrench, but Starline easily paralyzes him with his heel spurs, explaining to Belle how the next round of toxins will be the end of him and how if they leave right now, he’d be too busy to finish him off. Belle agrees, having no other choice.

Meanwhile, we see Sonic running up to the main entrance, with the guard pointing him inside and Sonic just barely missing Starline and Belle as they go to the elevator. If he just looked to his left as he dashed past, he would’ve seen them.

Meanwhile, Starline is pissed off that the elevator is out of service, but I guess we can thank that to the Zeti, with Belle even suggesting they probably cut the power lines and decides to bail. Starline responds by grabbing her and using the Fly Core to get out.

As for the Zeti, Zomom is currently trying to punch his way through the sealed steel doors, making a little gap which Zavok then attempts to pry open. But before he can open the so-called tomb, Sonic spin-dashes into them.

He then makes comes to a halt, ready to beat them up, while the Zeti are ready to put him into his grave.

This is going to be awesome!
